Hurricane Idalia

 We will be leaving out this afternoon because of the hurricane.   I don't know how bad it will get but, I know how it would be to stay here.

I would rather not stay here and upset Nancy and Vicki if high winds would start blowing.

We are going up in Georgia to spend the next two nights with our grandson.

So we shall see what happens.

Platelets heading wrong way

 Yeah, the platelet level has not stopped getting lower.  The reading on them with the blood drawn Friday the level is only 23 out of the low range it's supposed to be.

I'm due to see the oncologist in three weeks but if the reading on the platelets is out of range, I think he may want to see me earlier.

Just a wait and see situation.

At least the swelling has gone out of my legs and ankles.  But I had to take the water pills each day and when I do that I can't go anywhere.

Platelet Levels

 I guess I had better report how my platelet levels are doing.

The levels are coming down at a lower speed each time and hopefully will stop before they get to low.

August 11 the level was 233 down from 283 a month before.

August 18 the level was down to 202 as you can see from 233, so everything is looking good so far.

I have no idea how long it will be that I have to keep having my blood drawn every Friday.

I guess it will depend on how and when the platelets are at a normal stand still.

Blood drawn again.

 Had my blood drawn Friday and the platelet count went down, so I guess that is good since I'm not taking any medicine and it is staying in the range as it should be.

Vicki stayed home because Nancy wasn't feeling well and I did not want her to be by herself.

That was the first time I've gone to the doctor by myself in months.  The girls do not want me to drive by myself even though I tell them I feel just fine.

Old MacDonalds Restaurant

 Shery has gone home to West Virginia, where she is needed by her husband Mark because he has to get his feet operated on.

We will have the help of Vicki, our oldest daughter. 

They are a big help for Nancy. 

I went to the Cancer Center Friday to have my blood drawn again to see what the platelet count was.

I'm not taking the pills to raise it so the count is still coming down.

Went Fishing

 I can't believe that Sherry and I went fishing this past week.   It has been to many years since I have been fishing and much, much longer with Sherry.  When I used to go fishing while on vacation Sherry always tagged along with me.

                                                                     

Here is the two of us getting ready to begin our journey.

Here we go to the south side of the Skyway Bridge to the south side of the Skyway Fishing Pier.

After checking out the north side we decided the south side would be better and as it turned out we really enjoyed it.

Here looks like a freighter heading out to the gulf waters.

We got our chairs out to sit and relax a bit, but as it turned out that felt so good relaxing that we just the rest of the day enjoying the cool breeze coming in the we didn't even do any fishing.

There are three rest rooms along the pier that are really clean, which was a nice surprise.

Air dryer and also a paper drying.

A basin to wash your hands with water.

A toilet that is clean and someone comes around a few times to check on it.

                                                     

Sun starts it setting for the day.

Each movement more beautiful than the one before.

An end to a beautiful and relaxing day.

Another great site to see as darkness begins to fall. 

The Skyway Bridge is all lit up so the ships coming in will have no problem seeing it.

Friday it was back to the Cancer Center to have blood drawn again to see how being off the medication for a week does for the platelets count,

Well now the platelets are too high, the count is up to 508 from 471 last week.

The normal range is (140-440) so we will have it checked again this coming Friday.

Wait and see

                                                                     

I never like the same breakfast two days in a roll, so I had a few this past week.  Like this one of biscuit and sausage gravy.

Now this one really surprised me.  This was from a fairly new restaurant called "Sunny Side Up".

The sign said any steak $9.95.  So I thought it was a a steak dinner, but when I ask the waiter what came with the steak, she said two eggs and potatoes boy was I surprised.

Anyway, I chose the ribeye and when it came with me all the while thinking for breakfast the steak would be a thin cut, but no it was close to 5/8" thick and really good.

Yesterday was the day I had blood drawn again and saw the doctor this time.

My numbers now have gone to high.  So, the doctor say do not take the medicine for the next month to see if it will hold steady for the month?

Its always a wait and see what happens for the doctor.

Life changes

 Nancy and I sold our house when I retired in 2000.  We bought a motor home and traveled in it fulltime, enjoyed every minute of it.

We traveled at a slow pace because no matter where we were we were always home.

We also knew that one day we would have to give up that lifestyle and change to a different one.

We bought a house a couple of years ago, thinking we might travel through the summer, but that was not to be.

Both of us have not traveled for the pasted two years because of health issues and old age has caught up with us.

So, I guess I made it official when I took the motor home to a place that sells campers on assignment this past week.

It was a little heart breaking but, it had to be done.  We've been paying insurance and lot rent on the motor home just to have it set.

So now there is one chapter in our life and a new one beginning.

This is what it looked like a few days ago.  Nice and beautiful sun rise to start the day.

Not that way today with rain clouds and winds it will be a different day.

Yesterday was another day of blood being drawn to check the change in the platelet count.

Glad to report that the count is still going up.  It went from 268 to 381 well within the range of 140-440.

I'm scheduled to have blood drawn again Friday and seeing dr. Dan the oncologist to see what to do next.

Pills doing well

 It was back to have blood drawn Friday.  The pills are doing good raising my numbers each week.

 

Friday's report it was 268 up from 198 and well into the range of (140-440).  I have two more weeks of my blood being drawn and see my oncologist doctor Dan.
