More repairs

The old rig has to be getting into shape with all the repairs being done on this trip.
Since last reported I put on a new sewer valve because the old one was beginning to stick.  So I thought that I might as well do it here where I could empty the black tank and rinse it good instead of maybe not being able to empty it because the valve would be stuck tight.
I tried lubricating it but it did not help it.

Yesterday Nancy did the washing on our small washer/spin dryer.  This small machine fits in the shower where she can run and empty the water she uses.  The spin dryer spins so fast it almost dries the clothes.  After Nancy was through I took the clothes to the laundromat to dry them completely.
This small machine has saved us time doing the laundry and has already paid for its self.  It only takes around 3 or 4 gallons of water to do 13 pounds of laundry.

We have had a couple of days of almost constant rain and it is suppose to rain all day today.
So it looks like a stay inside day today.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Meeting up

Saturday our grandson and his mom(Haven & Cherisa) came out to visit us. They both work so the weekend is the only time we have of meeting up with them for a visit.

Haven has grown up to be a nice tall looking young man.  Its hard to believe that it doesn't seem that long ago that Nancy was bouncing him up and down on her knees.

After getting caught up on what we were doing in the last year since we saw them, wedecided go out to have something to eat.
We went o Mel's Diner to eat where the conversation never stopped even while eating.
Then getting back home the visit continued until Cherisa and Haven said their goodbyes and that we would see one another again the next day.

Yesterday was an agreed upon picnic with Cherisa bringing a bucket of chicken with all the sides for our four person picnic.

We went to the overlook of the lake and campground for the picnic.  A nice place with a view of the lake.

A couple of wild turkeys roaming around.

We stayed a couple of hours or maybe more with time not a factor but with an incoming rain we thought it best to end this part of the day.
We came back home where the talking never slowed down, until we all became sleepy, so Cherisa and Haven decided to call it a day.

Nancy and I had a good time visiting them the last two days and we will see them again before we leave.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Haircut and Repairs

Nancy needed to get her hair cut so Wednesday was the day for it.

We could not decide where we wanted to eat so we thought we would just drive through Pigeon Forge and when we saw a place that looked like it was calling us in that would be the place.

That place ended up being the 5 Oaks Farm house that was new in town. A very large restaurant with wooded tables and bench seats.  I don't know why this place called me to stop and come in because it is a little on the high price side.  Anyway we only had a bowl of "pinto beans and slaw".  The food was good and more that we could finish up but still over priced.  It may be that we have been in the forests too long and not in a tourist town.

After our meal we where on our way for Nancy's haircut at Great Clips.
But first I had to stop by Ricky's R V Repair for the cable foot flush for our toilet that had broken.
Yeah, I don't think I told you about that one of the many things that has needed repaired this trip.

While Nancy was at Great Clips I took my new phone and the and the old phone to the "Cricket Store" to have the service put back on the old one that decided to work again.
This was because I like the one year old phone better than the new one and I have a lot of apps on it.

Yesterday I took the toilet apart and installed the new cable and could not believe how much better it flushes.  It is easier to flush than when it was new.

This is our site at the Douglas Headwater Campground.

This is what we have to looked at each day from our motor home.
Nancy sure likes the campground by the lake.

We have no plans for the day so I'm sure something will come up.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Sevierville, Tennesse

We made another move yesterday and are at the Douglas Dam Headwaters Campground.
I called a few days ago to see if they had any sites open so I could make a reservation since the campground might be full at this time of year.
The lady told me they had a lot of empty site open so just come on in.
When I got her they said they had no sites empty for the length of time I wanted to be here (12 days).
I told her I would make a move from site to site in order to stay.  After she looked at her sheet, she could do that and I would only have to move once.

We are going to do some visiting while we are here and other things that need to be taken care of.
But we are going to find the time to do much needed relaxing because with all the things that have happened on this summer trip had been very stressful.  Not that we have not enjoyed it, which has made it a good trip.
When you have a rig that is 16 years old you can expect things to wear out and it looks like it was all at once this trip.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Just pitilling around

I guess most people have been keeping up with the hurricane that hit the east coast the last few days.
It has been down graded to a tropical storm now but is still doing a lot of damage with high wind and flooding.
Our hearts go out to those people.   Nancy and I can truly say we know how they feel since we lost two houses due to flooding.

Things around here have been slow.  I did finally went to the barbershop since I couldn't find any sheep farmers in the area to shear me.  That has been the longest time I have had between haircuts.
Of course we had a trip to Walmart and Kroger to do some shopping with things we need.
I still need to go today since we are short on bread.
Nancy and I eat our bread so different.  Sometime we will use up a loaf in no time and other times we have to throw out a half of loaf because it gets so old.

I will do a little something today and them settle in and watch some college football games.

We are suppose to get rain and winds tomorrow from what is left of hurricane Florence.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Staying longer

We are still here in the Cumberland National Historical Park  Campground.

We were going to head south but Nancy didn't like the idea of it after watching the Weather Channel and seeing all the storms out in the Atlantic.  So it looks like we may be in the area for a little longer.

We do not like to get up early in the morning, but sometimes we need to.

When we do we are gifted with a lovely morning like the one we had the other morning going to get the levelers put back on the motor home.
The fog hung low for a long time that morning and really looked nice.

Yesterday we had an extra load of laundry to do so we packed it up and went to the Laundromat to do the large load using several washers and dryers.

After finishing the laundry we went to Pelanchos Mexican Grill to have a really good meal.

Then a stop at Kroger to finish up our day in town.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Front Levelers Repaired

After calling several different RV Dealers and repair shops I finally have my front levelers repaired and back on the motorhome.

G & S Truck Repair, the same place that repaired my rear brakes plus a new rotor back in 2014 did it for me.  I went to Granville with my problem on the levelers.  He said he knew of a Hydraulic Shop that might repair them, so he called the guy and talked to him the guy said bring them over and he would repair them.  That was Wednesday and yesterday Granville called  to say they were ready and be there 8:00 this morning and he would put them on.
so that's one of the problems taken care of.

Once again Granville came through for me with the work and a price that was more than fair.

So, if you ever need work on your motorhome and in the area near Middlesboro, Kentucky called G & S Truck Repair I know for sure you will be treated fair and honest by Granville.

Nancy and I decided we would stay here in the campground at Cumberland Gap a few extra days to rest and I have a couple of more things that need taken care of.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

We are OK

Hey, we are alive.  We did not get kidnapped . so if you got a ransom note don't pay it.

Before I tell you where we are now I will just tell you where we have been all this time and let you get caught up on things.

We left the Hollywood Casino Free parking spot and headed down through Virginia on our way to a point to go across into West Virginia.  But first it was a stop to fill up with gas for $2.48 a gallon instead of $2.89 in West Virginia.

After traveling the country in West Virginia.

See barns after barns and corn fields.

We could see at a distance what we were headed for!

And a closer look at Seneca Rocks. It is a beautiful site and shear rocks where people from the US to challenge the rocks by climbing them.
We spent four days at the Seneca Shadows Campground and really enjoyed those days.  Of course we didn't have wifi or phone signals.

Next was Sherwood Lake Campground which is in the Monongahela National Forest.
We had a site right on the lake side.

We saw deer everyday in the campground.

I think this is some kind of mushroom that was close to our site.  If you know what it is please tell me in the comments section. After four day we where ready to leave.

Well not really, we noticed that there were some dispersed  sites just a couple of miles outside the campground.  We saw a nice site beside the creek so we parked there for two days.

This was looking out of our door, the creek with the clear water looked nice and cool (and it was).

With five waterfalls making a nice sound and no problem sleeping.  We stayed here another two
days and really enjoyed looking and listening to the creek.

Then it was on to Bluestone Lake Campground where we had our Family reunion this year.
The first four days we were in the primitive section. then we moved to the camping area where we had electric and water.  We spent more time this year with out service hookups than we ever have and this after we installed a residential refrigerator.

Of course we have a new little friend that is a 1000W Sportsman generator. Its hard to believe that with a 1/2 gallon gas tank that will run it 6  1/2 hours before it needs filling again. But we also have the 5500W Onan generator.  We run "little Genny" (that's what we call it) most of the time.
Also 425 watts of solar panels on the roof with a 2000W sine wave inverter we get along just fine.

Now to put you up to date we are in the Cumberland Gap Campground for a time that depends.
Well as this trip has been with a lot of things wearing out----my front levelers decided to join in and not holding up and leaking hydraulic fluid out.  They are at an Hydraulic Shop and we are waiting to see if they can repair them.

With all that has happened this is still one of our best trips.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.
