Going Back

We will be going back to Jackie and Jim's to stay for awhile. So my blog may be spotty with the posting,as I can't get onling there.
We have had a great time here visiting with our daughter Vicki and family.
Lexington,Ky. is beautiful horse country. Nice large green fields with the horses romping around so proud they look as though they know when you are looking at them. They look as though they are posing for you. There is a lot of road construction going on through out the area and they are repairing and building new rock fences.

We went over to Vicki's today and ran around all day long. We did stop long enough to eat at the Panda Garden Chinese Restaurant. It was a good meal. Richard took his lunch time off work so he joined us also. After we got through running around we went back over to Richard and Vicki's house to sit around and talk for awhile.
I will fill up the fuel tanks before we leave tomorrow. The gas has dropped down to $2.59.9 with the WalMart card. Maybe it will be a little lower tomorrow.

Another good night

We did have a good night in the WalMart parking lot. We were out kind of back were the car service is located. There was one other motorhome there also. Someone from Colorado.
I'm now in a shopping plaza where they have a string of stores including a Staples. I'm on the Staples WiFi Hotspot. Where they have a one hour free connection. I don't know if all the Staples provide this or not but it is worth a try if you are near one.
Tonight will be another WalWart night. They have 4 of them in Lexington,so why not?

WalMart Again

We had a good night as usual at the WalMart on Richmond and Man 'O' War. We didn't do much of anything today. Just walked around a little bit.
To night is another WalMart night. This one is on Man 'O' War and Nicholasville Road.
It looks like we will go out to the Horse Park for two nights. The fresh water tank is low and the other tanks need dumping. Boy I sure hate to pay for camping. Sometimes you just have to though.

Cracker Barrel

We stayed all night in the Cracker Barrel parking lot. Of course I asked and was granted permission to do so. We had a good and peaceful night. The air was cool coming in thru the open window over our heads. The temp was down around 58 degrees so it was pleasant all night long. Now when Nancy is ready we will go inside and have us a breakfast.
OK,we are back out after the breakfast and it was good as usual.
This is the spot we had behind the Cracker Barrel.
Even though it was across the street from the Holiday Inn for some reason I didn't feel any smarter when I woke up this morning.
Now we are off to look around for a bit before we go over to Vicki's.

What!!!

we got into Lexington yesterday and checked with the Kentucky Horse Park Campground. No electric site but they had primitive camping for $15.00 a night. Yes I am cheap. I couldn't see paying $15.00 for a spot of their lawn. So off to the WalMart parking lot we went for a good nights rest. Some people can't stay at a WalMart for some reason they just don't like it. Thats ok with me if you want to pay but not this poor boy. Besides at the WalMart you can take your time and do your shopping and a few steps you are home.
After visiting with Vicki and Richard today we will be staying at the Cracker Barrel tonight. With the saving of the money for camping we will enjoy a good breakfast.
Thats my way of doing things and You may have your ways. It doesn't mean that either one of us are right or wrong. Its just the way the world is and its good that we are all different.

Lexington,Ky

We left Don and Peach's house monday heading for Jackie and Jim's. Of course I didn't get on the interstate I took US 60 and got head up by road work.
We did make it to Jackie and Jim's and parked in their yard. I had to raise the front end up quit a bit.

While there I went on my first 4 wheel ride. It was a good ride but I got tired quite. It was fun never the less.
I havn't been able to post because I don't have a signal on the cell phone.
We are now in Lexington,Ky. visiting our daughter Vicki and family. We will be here a few days and then back to Nancy's sister Jackie for an undetermine amount of time. Jim is quite sick and we feel that we are needed there more than anywhere else at this time. So my postings may be just hit and miss for awhile.

Heading to Kentucky

We will be leaving today to go to Kentucky to Jackie and Jim's house. That is Nancy's sister.
They live close to Morehead and Cave Run Lake. They have a very nice house on top of the mountains. I like being out in the woods.
We are saying goodbye to Peach and Don. They have been so nice to us and we've more than enjoyed our time here. This is the longest amount of time we have spend with them since we've been on the road.
So off we go again.

The Usual

Thats us. Nothing but the everyday living is happening right now. Of course we are still parked in Peach and Don's driveway and enjoying their company. If we didn't have the motorhome we would not be visiting as long as we have. Even though we could stay with them it is better to sleep in your own bed. This way we know that we are not getting in their way to much. We will be here until Monday. Why is it everytime you turn on the television or are on the computer that people want to show ou how to make a bunch of money? You can make $1000 or $2000 in a week in your spare time. Now I would really like to be able to do that. I just don't think that they can help me that much for only a one time payment of $39.95. I'm amazed at how someone can teach you to became independently wealthy and yet they themselves have to be on the tv selling stuff?Like P.T. Barnum always said "theres one born everyday".We have a nice sunny day here. We are going to get our medication filled at the WalMart today. That is the big plans we have for this day.
After we got out medicine from WalMart we stopped in at the Halfway Market to look around. This is an Amish Market. Boy did my eyes pop out when we entered the door. They had all kinds of stuff made of wood. Tater bins, cedar chests, toys and a lot of wood things. Also the market was kind of like an old style market. Candy in barrels, fruit and vegetables, spices in plain bottles,Amish jams and jellies. It was very interesting. This is located on US Route 60 east of Milton,WV.

VA Hospital

Yesterday we went to the VA Hospital to see our brother-in-law Jim who had to take some test.
After visiting with him for awhile we went to (Where else) Walmart to get a few groceries.
This was about all we did. I did clean a few of the windows outside of the motorhome.
I don't mention the few things I have to do on the motorhome because that is the things that you have to do when you are a fulltimer.
Most of the time people just see fulltimers doing nothing but riding around all the time.
We have the everyday and weekly things that have to be done the same as when you live in a stick house. If you don't keep up on the caulking, checking tire pressure, oil water and a bunch of other stuff it will catch up with you and you will be in trouble.
Of course there are no plans on how today will go.

Finished

Yes we are finally finished withe the roof. Just a couple of small things left to rap up on. This has been a fun project for me. I've not done anything like this in quite a while and I made it through without any worse for the wear. In a few more days and we will move on to the next stop. We have no plans except to be at Vicki's before the 25th because our grandson Jarod is going of to the army.
I don't know what we will get into today.

Wednesday, July 11, 2007

Oh my,we did do some more work yesterday evening. One more piece of metal to put on the roof. Then a little bit of trim and it will be finished. A job well done for two old guys. I just hope it doesn't rain all day and gives us a chance to do the little bit of work we have left.
I've enjoyed doing this little project with Don it has been fun.

Half

Yep,we have the roof half finished on the deck roof. It was really hot today so we quit for awhile to cool off. Don and I ran up to Harbor Freight to get a 3/8" battery drill that was on sale. We each got one at half price. After we ate dinner we were going to work on the roof some more but it started to lightning so we thought it better to wait and see if it will quit. If we don't get to do anymore today we will do it tomorrow.

Why do they do it?

I was looking over our bank statement online friday and saw where the restaurant we ate in on July 2 had charged us twice for the same meal. Now I've got to go down and ask why I was charged twice for the same meal? I used my debit card which I signed the slip so there was no reason for this. I won't mention the name of the place but,if I can't get some satisfaction from them you can bet I will. It may just be an oversite on their part.I've also noticed a couple of times I've used my card at places that there is an $1.00 charge and wonder why? I've never gone back to ask but from now on I will. If we the customer doesn't do anything about the small add on charges they will just keep doing it.There are a few other things that we have to do today. Nothing major just small stuff.
We rode down in the town of Hurricane,WV.
saw this mural on the side of a building. I just love these paintings in the towns as we travel.

No work today. Today will be a day of relaxing and just hanging loose. We'll get back to work on the cover for the deck on Tuesday when Don is not working his security job at the mall.
I think I will go down and check out the flea market to see if they have anything that I can not do without. I think Nancy wants to go to the mall and walk a bit. We are getting behind on our walking and it is showing up in our weight.

Deck Cover

The deck cover is making progress. When you have two old fella's working out in the sun and the temp around 90 it doesn't go to fast on the building. Still we are doing a little at a time and we will get it finished.

Just another good day

Yesterday for the 4th we did go to Mike's for a cook out. Hamburgers, hot dogs, deviled eggs, baked beans and salad. We did it again--pigged out. We had a good time visiting and eating. Mike and Teresa were great host.
Don and I will work on the deck cover a little again today. Don has to go to work later so we don't want to get him tired out.

Work??

Yup,thats what it was yesterday. Don and I started on his deck cover. I told him I would help him if he wanted to start on it and he took me up on the offer. We didn't work at long stretch's at a time because it was so hot. Besides old people are suppose to take it easy. This was the most I have worked since my heart attack, but it felt pretty good being able to do something. I woke up this morning only a little sore.
Last night I heard a loud boom and then some more and I knew someone was setting off fireworks. I looked out the window and the town got a jump start on the 4th with their fireworks show. It lasted for awhile and they had a nice show.
Today we are going over to Don and Peach's son(Mike) to have a cook out.
Oh this fulltiming in a motorhome is great. Being able to travel around and spending sometime with each member of our families.

Monday, July 02, 2007

Yesterday we went to church with Peach and Don down in Crum,WV. This is a trip of around 75 miles. With the curvy roads it takes a while getting there. On the way back we stopped in at the Penn Station Sub to have dinner. Their sandwiches are great tasting. We had the subs, fries and a drink. We took the small ones which was more than enough to fill us up. I don't know who could eat the large ones they have. That would be enough to feed a whole family. After we got back home we all had a rest and nap then visited a little more and then called it a day.It was another good day.
This is the Ashland Oil Refinery in Ashland,Ky that we passed yesterday. This plant keeps expanding.
The only plans we have today is to meet with Jackie, Jim and we will all go out for dinner.
