Wedding Anniversary 61

WOW, Nancy and I are  celebrating our 61st Wedding Anniversary today.

That's a long time that really seems so short.  I have to say "Nancy I love you more each year".
Some of those early years were probably harder on Nancy than they were on me.  I thank her for raising three children and putting up with me.
In celebrating we will go out to have a nice dinner then be at home to spend New Years Eve together.

Yesterday was the typical Saturday for me.  I spent the day watching College Basketball Games.

Later on in the evening I put together the ingredients to make macaroni salad.  It has been several years since I have made it and I just felt like I was wanting some.
Everything came together good.  Nancy and I had to have a small bowl of it last night and it taste really good.

May you have a nice New Years Eve and stay safe.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Games, games and more games

Thursday Nancy had to go to have her blood drawn at the lab, because next week she will be going see her Nephrologist.  She will then find out how her kidneys are doing. Nancy has been doing pretty good with her kidney count, sometimes her numbers are up a little then they will come down a few numbers.

After we were finished with the lab it was time to eat and the Steak and Shake was next door we just made the trip over to have our meal there.
As usual Nancy had the Grilled Chicken Sandwich with onion rings and I had the Original Double Burger with fries.

In the photo above you can see that Sunny Florida has been cloudy for a couple of days and will be for the next week.  We will also have the cool weather with the temperatures in the high 60s for the coming week.  I know a lot of people reading this will say they wish their temps would be like that.

I have been watching the football bowl games and the college basketball games and today will be the same.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Lots of vegetables

Tuesday Nancy had the appointment with the opthamologist to have the growth taken off her right eye with a laser.  She has been nervous thinking about it.  She got called in and I thinking of getting a cup of coffee to drink while she was having it done. I had two drinks of the coffee when she comes out smiling and said she was finished saying it was nothing at all.
She said this morning she could see better out of the eye now.

Wednesday was the first day I have been away from home in several days.  I was out to get some things to make us cabbage rolls for New Years Day. We've not had cabbage rolls for several years now and its about time to get back to our regular New Years Day tradition of making them.

But the first stop was to the roadside market to get fresh vegetables, in this case almost fresh.
Upon looking they had a section of bruised or a little over ripened vegetables bagged up at .99 a bag.

Tomatoes will be $1.49-$1.98 a pound at the stores, I bought a bag of 8 tomatoes for .99 with the weight of five pounds had to throw away two of them. I quickly ate one before I took the photo(it taste really good).

Green peppers maybe .79 each at the store, had to throw away one.

Small picklin' cucmbers 6 for $1.00.  3 for $1.00 at the store if you can find them.  We like the small ones because to us they taste better and have a "crunch" to them when you bite into them.

Hot peppers 5 for $1.00, I've seen them sell in the stores at $3.98 a pound.

Makes a good bunch of good tasting vegetables for the price of $4.00.

After picking up the vegetables the next stop was at Win Dixie for the rest of my shopping day.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Day after Christmas

I hope everyone of you had a very good Christmas being with and enjoying your family's weather large or small.  Did you get that special thing that you have been wanting?

Nancy spent some time on the phone before starting her day. She called her three sisters to wish them a Merry Christmas. Next was our children only to find out the our oldest daughter was in the hospital with the flu and pneumonia.  Plus she was suppose to under go a heart cath to check some problems she has been having.  Now that has been put off until she is feel better.
Nancy and I had a good ham dinner with sides that both of us put together.  We had a small bone in ham which was cooked in the Instant Pot Cooker that Nancy got for Christmas.

Here is my plate of food ham, sweet potatoes, green beans, slaw and a baked potato with a Vernor's Ginger Ale to drink.  Nancy had the same thing minus the baked potato and a Sprite Zero to drink.
We enjoyed our meal with the both of us having seconds.  Afterwards a little television watching then turning the channel to the soft instrumental music while we took us a good little nap.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Merry Christmas

Yesterday we had dinner with our friend Lee King.

We met up with Lee at Bob Evans Restaurant and proceeded in to be seated to order our dinners.
Our conversation started and  continued through dinner and even as we were saying our goodbyes.
Thank you Lee for dinner and more for your company for a nice evening.

Nancy and I will have a nice little dinner at home today with the two of us as we have had for a number of years.  I will once again eat watch a little television and repeat eat watch a little television.
I don't know how many times I will repeat this.

Nancy and I wish you a very Merry Christmas.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Oh the crowds

The weather day time temperature has been in the low 80's with the night's in the low 60's.
That will change Christmas Day with the temperature dipping down to a high of 72.
Which is not to shabby for this time of year.

Just going to the store and doing a little grocery shopping.  I did make a drip to the mall to get Nancy something called the "Flawless" that is used to take hair off of women face. Glad to get that for her I don't like the thought of hugging her if she had a beard.

Watching a few college basketball games through the week.  Today there will be a little more games on so I will have more to choose from.

I didn't like getting out in the traffic because it is bumper to bumper and that is three lanes coming and going. There is always heavy traffic but the holidays its unbelievable. And the stores with all the people buying so much.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Eye appointment

Nancy had an afternoon appointment with her ophthalmologist as her eyes have been bothering her since last spring after her cataract surgery. After examining her eyes she will have to have laser surgery on her right eye, because of a growth on the cornea.  That will take place the 27th of this month.

From  there it was to Walmart so Nancy could get a few items she needed.  After we were finished it was time to have dinner.

After deciding where we wanted to eat it was off to Spring Hill to eat at Cody's Roadhouse.
This was our first time here and before going in it already looked good.
Our dinner started with the "Bottomless Salad Bowl" which was very good.

It was so good that the bowl did have an end, but was soon refilled.

Nancy had the "Chicken Fried Chicken" with a baked sweet potato and coffee for her drink.
She said all of her food was really good.

I had the "8oz Top Sirloin" with fries and a diet cola. I also really enjoyed my meal.
Neither one of us could finish our meal, maybe because we enjoyed the salad so much.
Anyway we have our snack now in the refrigerator that we bought home.

Looking at the sunset as we were coming home we both agreed it was a very good day.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Checking out the generator

The clouds and cool weather has finally given way to sunshine and everyone is glad.
The temperatures are suppose to be in the 80's for the next week or so.

The onboard Onan Generator hasn't ran for sometime now so I call  Mobile RV Tech to come and check it.  He was to come Saturday but got tied up with something else.
He did come out today and spent two hours on it and never got it running.
He said he did all he could and it would have to be taken apart to check further.

I will have to think about that.
I went to Rural King yesterday to get a few things and the took the route close to the bay coming back home.  The road is less crowded and a lot more scenic.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

A different Cardiologist

I was scheduled to see Doctor Lin my cardiologist Tuesday.  But last week they called me and said that he is no longer doing the scheduled appointments.  He is now doing heart operations and inserting pace makers and seeing those patients.  Well I imagine, like everyone else you have to go to where the most money is.  But knowing Doctor Lin making the move that it was his first love of doing the heart operations.
The receptionist said I could make a reservation with one of the other cardiologist.  So I chose Doctor Jauch, which is pronounced "yeah".
So Monday I saw Doctor Jauch for my yearly checkup. He is very nice and to the point type of Doctor that has 33 years of experience and still rather young at somewhere around 55 years young.
After having an EKG and him checking me he said everything looks ok.  So another appointment in another year.

Yesterday after going to the bank I turned in our piggy bank money for quarters I went to the UPS Store to send out a fax.
When I got back home I did a load of laundry and by the time it was passed supper time.
So after eating supper it was to late to start on anything other than watching a little tv.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Basketball and Eating

Wow was Saturday a good day to watch the College Basketball games with a few upset games it indeed was. I really enjoyed it since three of the games went the way I wanted them to go.

We had our soup day with the  broccoli soup and a sandwich that tasted good for a cool day.

Sunday was a much colder day the temperature starting out at 35*.

I bought us an Instant Pot Cooker and that yesterday was a good day to try it out to see how it would do making cabbage rolls.
I looked at recipes on line and wondering why they all suggested cooking the rice before adding it to the meat. So I added rice to the meat, then rolled it into the steamed cabbage to put in the Instant Pot. Then I added the water and tomato juice to cover all this. Next was to set the timer to 25 minutes.
After the timer went off we waited 5 minutes to take the cabbage rolls out to eat.
I have to say the rice and the meat did all cook together and really tasted good.

Now that sure beats cooking it on the stove top for 4 hours.

Sorry but I was so intent on eating that I forgot to take pictures.

I thought it was cold yesterday morning at 35*.   Well I'm here to tell you I couldn't  believe the temperature when I saw 29*, now that is not suppose to be a Florida temperature.
We come down here in Florida for the winter to stay warm.

Anyway the temperature is going to reach 65* according to the weather report.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Friends Visiting

Yesterday our friends from West Virginia, but now live in Kentucky came for a visit.  It sure was good to see Carolyn and Sam again and catch up on the news they had about what has happened back in the old area.  After a time we decided it was time to eat we all agreed to go to Steak and Shake to eat.  Carolyn, Sam and I had the double cheese burger while Nancy had a grilled chicken.  We all said it was good and we were full and satisfied.
After coming back home Carolyn and Sam said they had to go home.  Thanks guys for a nice evening.

It really came a thunder and lightning storm last night and shortly after a heavy rain.  The wind blew hard all night long and this morning the temperature has dropped to 52*.
This looks like a stay inside soup day.  That suits me because it is Saturday which means College Basketball Game Day.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day

                                      National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day

I was watching one of the networks on television this morning for about an hour and could not believe that there was no mention of  Pearl Harbor Day.

Have we come  so far that we want to forget this day like we have so many days and things in our country of the USA.  If we have shame on us.
Too many lives were lost at this time in our history to forget about it.

We must remember so this will not happen again.  God Bless America
*************************************************************************************
Yesterday I was on the roof of the motorhome putting on a new refrigerator vent base and cover.
I had not noticed somewhere along the line this summer I had knocked it off.
I think maybe it was going through one of the towns along the way where the utility poles lean out from the sidewalk and into the road way.

After that was finished it was off to get us a "Hot and Ready " pizza from Little Caesar's.
Of course a stop at Save A Lot and Dollar Tree for a few items.

With the larger New Residential Refrigerator we can buy more meats and frozen items.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Fresh Produce

Yesterday was another run around day.
First I wanted to go back to the roadside market to check to see if they had tomatoes at a better price than what it was a few weeks ago.  The price on the tomatoes were $1.49 a pound because of Hurricane Irma destroying the local crop and they had to get them from the local warehouse. which had to get them from California and other places. The market had up signs apoligizing for the high prices but they would have local produce in a few weeks.

I saw their new sign as I was approaching the market and you can imagine how glad I was to see this.

They had local grown tomatoes.

Man did they have tomatoes and I got quite a few of them at the price of $.79 a pound.
Guess what I did as soon as I got home with them?  Yeah you guessed it, I washed one off, put a little salt on it and ate it.  Oh, it was so good tasting the fresh garden tomato!

I also bought some local grown cumbers at the price of 5 for $1.00.
Its so good to be back where the produce is at a price that one can afford.

I stopped at a few more places before I came back home.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Weekend again

Saturday was as usual  as the Saturdays go this time of year.

But this day I got my "Big Saturday Breakfast" which I haven't had in a couple of Saturdays.  This was because I was busy with the residential refrigerator installation and a few other projects.
The two fried eggs that after cutting up and mixed with the onions and colored mini peppers sure taste good.  Along with bacon, hash brown potatoes, biscuit and a cup of coffee start the day of good.

As I was going to the store this bus was pulling into the Show Palace Dinner Theater.
Besides the schedule of shows they have, they also have company seminars.

After getting back from the store I settled in for the good college football and basketball games.
Some of the football games again  did not go the way the were supposed to go.

Yesterday I was going to get online with the Mobley Hot spot but first thinking if I would disconnect it and plug it back in I would get a better signal.  I have done this before and it has worked. The Mobley gets the power from the OBD connection of the motorhome. Only this time the power light just flashed on and off.  So I checked my batteries and found the chassis battery was not charging.
After cleaning all the terminal connections, tightening all back together everything was working as it should.
After a few more small everyday chores and checking of things it was time to relax.

Thanks for stopping by and have a good day.

Two Haircuts

Yesterday I went to the barbershop to get my hair cut.
After getting back I messed around for a time waiting  on Nancy to get ready so she could  get her hair cut.
I took her to Spring Hill to the Great Clips for her to get her hair cut.
After she was finished we decided to go to Cracker Barrel for dinner.  We both ordered off the Breakfast Menu.

From there it was to Rural King to get me some of their potato chips and while there they had a sale on Tortilla Chips at $2.00 for a 3 lb, box.  Nancy can't eat potato chips and I bought Tortilla Chips for her, so with a sale like that I knew I could not pass it up.
I also bought a pack of AAA Batteries along with a box of candy, although I will help her eat some of it.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Using the Residentia Refrigerator

Yesterday I went to the stores yes stores, five stores to be exact.  I wanted to get the sales of what the different stores had and since we have the new residential refrigerator I was wanted to load it up.
It sure does seen a lot larger and it goes way back in depth.

So last night I wanted to see how it would work using the 2000W pure sine wave inverter measuring it with the Kill A Watt connected.
I was really surprised me this morning when checking the power consumption.
In 7 and a half hours it used  .12 kwh which was hardly any drainage on the batteries.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Mighty long day

What a good weekend I had with watching a bunch of college football and basketball games.

The weather has changed from the cold rainy days to one of high 70's and sunshine.  It sure makes a person fell much better and soothes the old bones.

Yesterday was a busy day doing the normal chores.  I first did a couple loads of laundry while Nancy was getting ready.  After that it was a trip to Walmart to buy some groceries and other things we needed.  It had to bee the longest day ever in Walmart.  I mean that was the slowest checkout yet.
It made me wonder "has anyone ever died waiting to be checked out.

it was dark by the time we got back home and being tired we did nothing the rest of the evening.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Refrigerator in and cooling good

Home Depot did deliver our Magic Chef 9.9 cu-ft refrigerator Wednesday but not until 5:00 pm and that didn't leave me much time to work on it.

Yesterday being Thanksgiving Day and we had plans to have dinner with some of our friends so that let Thursday not doing anything.

It rained most of the night Wednesday and still coming down very hard yesterday but we were still going to Bob Evans to meet our friends for dinner.

All the rain and even before we left the house we had a tornado warning for our area.  But lucky for us the tornado didn't materialize.
Our friend Lee King was already there and in a short Jane and Dick Barker arrived.
We didn't have to wait very long for our table to come available.
The turkey and dressing with the sides and pie was very good and the conversation among friends was even better.

So today with a little more trimming on the sides the refrigerator was fitting in good.  I then drilling holes in the base put several screws in.  All that's left is to seal around the refrigerator then trim it and it is good to be on the road with it.

The door sticks out somewhat but with the refrigerator having a wall on the right side that is out 4" from the front of the door will not be a problem.

I did get a chance to watch some college basketball games today was that was a good time and a chance to get a little rest period.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Waiting for new refrigerator

Here is what the weather has looked like for the last couple of days with a forecast of rain each day and we only get sprinkles.

I went back to Home Depot Monday to check on a residential refrigerator to see if they might have something besides the Magic Chef 10.1 cu-ft model that I saw the other day.  Well they had  another Magic Chef 9.9 cu-ft with a different shelf arrangement in the door.
At times I put pressure on myself to get things done as I did the new refrigerator in buying it and asking them to deliver it today.

So when I got back home I started getting the old Dometic out by first taking the doors off.
There were four screws holding it in place plus two screws in the front.  I then stacked 4x4's cut 8" long that I keep just in case I need them.  I set a couple of 2x6 boards across these and pulled the old frig out.

Remember me saying that the old frig was giving us trouble and it was about time to change it out.
I just didn't know how close to the time it would quit and as I was pulling it out it started leaking ammonia out of the cooling coils.

I can do a lot of things but I'm not Superman, I had to get my neighbor to help me carry the old Dometic Refrigerator out the door.

And so here we are waiting for our new Magic Chef 9.9 cu-ft refrigerator.  I had to add some insulation to the right side as the old insulation had fallen down.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Still refrigerator looking

Friday was another day of looking for a residential refrigerator of the right size to fit in the opening to replace the old Dometic that we have.
I went to Lowes to check on the ones they have but the only brand that they had was a Haier and after reading the reviews I didn't want to take a chance on one of those.  Maybe if it wasn't over half of the reviews complaining of the compressor failure I might consider one but that was just not for the best.

Of course yesterday was the college football day and as usual there were upsets again.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Shopping

Wednesday was a running around day.  First I went to Rural King  for some Potato Chips for me and I got Tortilla Chips for Nancy. Rural King is the only store I have found that sells the brand of chips that I like and I always buy two large bags when I buy them.
The next stop was Harbor Freight to get a flexible extension for my drill and a free gift of a four outlet power strip with the coupon I had.
Next up was on down the line for a stop at Winn Dixie to buy 12 pack soft drinks at four for $12.00.

Then a stop at the Walmart (you just can't be out and not go to Walmart)  for a few things.
Next and last stop was Dollar Tree for a couple of items.

Yesterday day I went to make my appointment to have my shoulder checked and the date will be Tuesday morning.
I then went to Home Depot to look at the refrigerators for the motorhome to replace the replace our exiting propane electric frig that has been acting up for way to long.
They had a Magic Chef that was the right size but I didn't like the shelves in the door arrangement. So I will keep looking at other refrigerators.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

A little walking

Well it looks like Monday was a different day for us.
I asked Nancy if she felt like doing a little walking and It surprised me when she said yes.  So we went down to the James E Grey Preserve to do our walking.

The first thing you see when you park the car is the boat launch where in the last year they have made some improvements. Such as a boardwalk and a better way to launch a kayak.
The river is nice and slow moving with low hanging tree branches.

After leaving the boat launch there is a large bulletin board showing the animals there you may see in the Preserve.  You might see some of these animals but the only animals we saw was this and more lizards and a few squirrels.
After a short walk through the grassy area you come to a very nice elevated boardwalk.

We came to the place where we usually look over in the water but the river is flowing so low that it didn't have any water here.

But the island with the tall palm tree had plenty of water around it. This is one of those nice spots to take a photo.

Well it looks like us old folks got a little tired from not doing too much walking these days and had to sit to rest the old bones for a while.

We did reach the spot where there is a pavilion where there is a curve in the river that you can look up and down the river.

We saw several fish that looked to be nearly a couple of feet long.

When we got through walking and not had having lunch we where getting hungry so we went to Steak and shake to eat. We each had a burger mine with fries and Nancy had onion rings both meals were delicious.  Nancy also got a milkshake to go with both of us finishing that on the way home.

Yesterday we both was at the doctor for our back for the winter check up. I've had a sore shoulder for a long time so the doctor gave me a referral  to see a Orthopedic Specialists.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Ball Games

Wow if you watched the college football games on Saturday I know you had a good exciting day.
A few of the games where big upsets and really a run away.

Nancy and I both had some kind of bug with both of us feeling the same way and not feeling like doing anything to much than our usual chores of taking trash to the dumpster and a little house cleaning.
Seem as though how you feel there are still a few small things that has to be taking care of.

Yesterday I went to Walmart to pick up few groceries then later on in the evening I watched a college basketball game.
No news from the home front so I guess everyone is doing ok.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Veteran's Day

Thanks to all Veteran's you are a special person and our real heroes.

Some pink clouds last evening to say that it will turn colder and it did this morning we woke up to 53 degrees.

I did a few projects yesterday that did not take very long to complete.

Then in the evening time I fired up the grill for a couple of 12 oz. T-Bone Steaks that with an onion wrapped in aluminum foil for our supper.  Nancy baked me a potato and a sweet potato for herself along with some cooked vegetables made for a good meal.
There was enough left over for more good eating today.

Then later on I settled in and watched a few College Basketball games, this is my time of the year that I enjoy.

Today will be a day of College Football Games so give me my Lazy Boy recliner and leave me alone.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Just things

Tuesday Nancy and I went to visit our dear friend Lee.  It sure was good to see him again and spend some time with him.
After our visit we stopped at the at the Walgreen Pharmacy to pick up our medication that I had filled on line in the morning hours.  We also had our flu shots so we were good to go.

We then went to Chili's to eat where we ordered the 2 for $22.00 each of us had the Chicken Fajita and chose the onion rings as the appetizer.  Nancy and I finished all of our meal but both of us were really stuffed to the top.

Yesterday I had to go back to Walgreens to pick up the last one of Nancy's prescription medications.

On the way back I took the scenic way back as I call the road that is closer to the gulf.
I saw this Osprey high on a limb it was a very large bird.

After getting back home I decided I had better fry up the 2 pound pack of country ham that was in the refrigerator.
Speaking of refrigerator it looks like we will have to buy a new one.  With all the symptoms with the one we have and being 15 years old it is time. So while we are here for the winter it is best rather than out on the road.
When we use up most or all that we can out of the refrigerator I we proceed to disconnecting it and taking it out for a new residential refrigerator.
This was the choice because of cost wise and already having solar panels, a 2000 watt pure sine wave inverter and extra batteries it made sense to do so.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.
