Good Weekend

This is the way I started saturday.  Nancy always has me a large breakfast on saturday's.  Eggs mixed with tomato and onions, home fries, country ham, buscuit with butter and jelly, coffee. There was also gravy to add to all of that. I told her with a breakfast like that, the day couldn't hardly get any better. It did though I got my saturday college basketball games fix.
After church yesterday we stopped again at the Caposey's Restaurant for lunch.  We got back home changed clothes and went to John Chesnut Park to do much needed walking. This turtle was the only wildlife that we saw.
We also went on the Peggy E. Park trail.  Named after the park ranger that was killed in the line of duty when she came upon a couple of poachers on this trail that took her life.
The trail goes along the Tarpon Lake then comes in along a lagoon.

It was a very nice day at the park.  We think it was the largest crowd we have seen at the park, with all the shelters full and more than a couple of birthday parties.
Have yourself a great day and be thankful for what you have.

Cool Day

It came a good long rain in the middle of the night thursday and continued until around noon yesterday.  After the rain the whole day was damp and cool even though the temp was 68°.  I guess it was the wind coming in off of the gulf waters.  After the rain had stopped Nancy and I went to get our hair cut at the Great Clips hair place.  Friday is not a good day to get a haircut because everyone gets their hair cut on this day.  We had to wait 45 minutes.  I never did like to get haircuts anyway. I just don't like to sit still in a chair that long.
Then it was off to Harbor Freight where I bought ten rolls of electrical tape. I have been waiting for it to go on sale. So yesterday was the day. The tape being on sale plus a 20% off coupon plus a coupon for a free pair of scissors made it a trip worth taking.
After getting back home Nancy made some broccoli and cheese soup, which really hit the spot on a cool day.
I guess you know what I will be doing today?   Right,it is college basketball day.  Man these saturdays come so quick. As a matter of fact the weeks just whiz by.
Thanks fo stopping by and have yourself a great day.

Doctor Again

Yesterday it was to the cardiolist for me for a regular check up.  I usually go twice a year. Once when we are ready to take off for the summer then again when we get back.  He told me yesterday that he would see me in another year,so that was good news.

As it always is it takes up most of the day when you see a doctor,we grabbed a bite to eat and then went to J B Starkey Park for a walk. We did see a gopher tortoise in the weeds.
Then on the way out of the park at sunset we saw these two deer. This is the first deer we have seen in this park in a couple of years.
From the park we went to pick up our medicine. I dropped the prescriptions off the day before, but it seems 24 hours is not enough time to fill them at this Walmart. The lady said they have all but one filled give them five minutes. After twenty minutes I checked back (a different lady at the counter) checked to see if they were ready. She said they till had four more to fill.  Huh,wait just a minute.  You must be filling them then unfilling them. When the five minutes turned into forty-five minutes we took what they had and said we would return the next day.
Don't you just love it when those things happen?
It was a long tiresome day,but we made it.
I wish you a very good day.

Five Guys Burger's

Yesterday after I had my CT scan we went to BJ's wholesale to look around. I'm not a member, but we got a one day pass so we used it to see what they have. It is just like the Sam's Club although they do have a few different things. It is around 25 miles to get to BJ's so we wouldn't go enough to pay for a membership.

I got a surpise the other day!  I was out back where my flower boxes are and saw this flower popping up. How could that be when I tooki all the flowers out and threw them away in June of last year. There must have been seeds that dropped out and sat dormant until now. How did they make it through the summer?  I did pour some water on the box a couple of weeks ago,so thats what must have brought them alive.
I've been wanting to try out the Five Guys burger place for some time so on the way back home we stopped in and got us a cheeseburger and fries. When we were ordering the young lady told us one order of regular fries would be enough for both of us. She sure was right. We couldn't eat all of them. The most in a regular order I have ever seen. The burger was very good and juicy.
We had a very good day and it sure felt good being out and about.

Weekend Gone

Well the weekend has come and gone.  Saturday I helped some college basketball teams win a few games.  The weekend was spent just sitting around the house. Nancy's new medicene will take a while kicking in,so in the mean time she isn't doing too good.  I don't think she will even feel like getting out and walking,so it is a wait and see thing as of now.

Just a Day

Yesterday it was back to the doctor for results of our blood work.  It looks like every thing is ok with us.  Nancy got some new medicine to try for her back pain, because the tramadol is now considered a control substance and that makes it almost impossible to get when we are traveling from state to state. As for me I've had a kidney ache for almost a week and a half, which I think is another kidney stone in the making. Anyway the doc wanted me to have a CAT scan to check it out.  I guess it is the best for me to do so since the last one I had was to large to pass and the had to blast it with a laser. I guess I'm one of a few people that drinking milk isn't good for me,because of the calcium kidney stones.
Today is another saturday full of college basketball games.
So I hope your day is a great one for you.  Thanks for stopping by.

J B Starkey Park

Wednesday we were suppose to have a short passing rain.  We had the rain, but it lasted the whole day long.  So it was a stay inside day.

We were out at the J B Starkey Park yesterday. It was a little cool but a nice walking day.
We did see this woodpecker. I didn't know if I could get a good photo or not since it was 35-40 yards away.  The Nikon CoolPix S4100 did a pretty good on finding and getting a shot.
From the park we went to Walmart.  On the way we saw this scene. The dog was in the back seat. At first I just noticed a yellow car and thought maybe the dog was in a taxi. It will be back to the doctor today to get the results of our blood work.

Three in One

Wow and gee whiz, three different parks in one day.
First we went to Eagle Point Park which is located at the end of Trouble Creek Road next to the gulf waters. This is one of the newer parks in Pasco County.
There are a few plants along the way and it looks as though they have more coming up that were recently planted.
As far as wildlife all we saw were birds and ducks. That was enough to keep us entertained for a while. They ducks were chasing small fish and it was amazing how fast a duck can swim with its head under water.
There was also this fella in a kayak.
Then the short drive to Key Vista Park. This is another one of my many favorite parks, because it is beside the gulf.
After a short walk through the woods you come to the gulf waters and a beautiful scene is before your eyes.
We walked over to see if the boardwalk was repaired. The last time we were here there had been a fire in the park and the boardwalk was closed off. We were in luck it had been repair and also extended. We got on it and walked and walked. Extended it they did.
All the way to the Anclote Gulf Park. Man that was a long walk.
Another very nice park with a long fishing pier. There were a lots of people fishing.
This pelican was waiting for someone to catch a fish and maybe give him a handout.
This was a day that we walked maybe more than we should have but we made it.  A very nice day indeed.
I hope you have a great and wonderful day.

Tuesday, January 17, 2012

Yesterday it was down to John Chesnut Park to walk and try out the new CoolPix S4100 Camera  . We did our usual trail, then we went on another trail.
The trail around Tarpon Lake was on the boardwalk which gave us an extra 2 miles to our walking. So we had 5 miles for the day. The boardwalk trail has this three story tower that gives a good view out on the lake.

There are turn-outs on the boardwalk where there are pinic tables that are covered to keep you out of the sun. We saw several people using these for a picnic and fishing.

This pelican was using the roof for a lookout to see if it could see some food.
We got tired with the extra walking but we want to get in better shape.
I hope you are enjoying your days.

Cool Start

Yesterday was a very cool 37° when we woke up. We didn't think we would be getting out all day.  But the temps did go up and we did get out.
We once again went to J B Starkey Park to do the walking.  There were more people out than usual. It was a nice day for walking or biking.
After walking on the trail,we took a walk on the short boardwalk.

At the end of the boardwalk is the small stream that is the start of a local river.

After the walking and on the way back to the house we stopped off at Wendy's for a small meal. Someone inside had the neat ride.

Game Day

Yesterday was a slow day here.  Watching basketball games for most of the day. Taking the garbage to the dumpster and the everyday things that one does. We didn't even take the time to do our walking.
I did every once in a while look at the new CoolPix S4100 digital camera to check the different setting and try to see if I could improve on the photos. I took some shots that didn't come out blurry,so that an improvement over the previous day.

Blood Work

Yesterday we were up early.  We had to go and get our blood drawn out so the doctor can see whats going on if anything. We do this once a year when we come back to Florida. Most of the time the bad thing about it is getting up early and then waiting so late to have breakfast.  This time I got a young lady that thought I was a pin cushion. After three attempts of sticking and moving the needle from one side to the other, she gave up on that arm. Which is black and blue and looks like I've been in a fight with a snake. She then went to the other arm with the same results. She finally says I'll have to get someone else to try. So,another young lady comes in looks at my arm, feels for the vien and says "a piece of cake".  She got it on the first try and had a couple of tumblers full in a short time.
I also bought a new Nikon CoolPix S4100 camera which looks like I will have to learn how to use. After charging the battery and taking a few shots that came out blurry.  Upon googling I see this is a problem with a few people, while others are getting good results.  So it must be the person taking the photo and not the camera.
Of course today is full of ballgames.

Just a walk

Walking in the JB Starkey Park yesterday.
Of course walking you take it one step at a time.  Before you know it you have walked 1/2 mile.
Looking down the long trail it looks like a long ways.
Before you know it you have 1 mile in.
Then 1 1/2 mile.  We walked a little pasted the 1 1/2 mile marker.
Nice day to walk and looked up at the trees. We haven't seen any animals here for a while.  My photo are not so good.  I'm taking them with my video camera, because the screen on my Olympus packet camera has "bit the dust".
I will have to get another one soon.

Wall Springs

Yesterday was another nice day so we went to Wall Springs to do our walking. This is the first time that we have walked here in a season or two. Today it is suppose to rain for most of the day,so we will have to wait and see what happens.

They have added these neat looking benches throughout the park. Its just a rough cut part of a tree.
We climbed the tower, where I saw this pier sticking out. Of course I wondered what was at the end of it.
So I zoomed in and saw a covered section of the pier with a boat. The video cam with the camera doesn't take the greatest photo, but I like the zoom.
One of the few bridges that cross the water in the park. This used to be a very popular place in the 40's and early 50's. It had a nice hotel. People would come thinking the springs had some kind of healing waters.

Good Day

Yesterday we had to get up early in order to get to the church service.  The Morning services are now starting at 9:45am,which is way to early for us. The good thing about it is that you get out an hour before the other churches. That gives you time to get to the restaurant before it gets crowded.  And that we did.  This time it was to Kaposey's,a nice small friendly place were they get repeat customers.

After getting home we changed our dressed up clothes for our everyday style to go down to the James E Grey Preserve to do our walking.

We saw these two kayakers on the river. They waved at us as they passed by and commented on what a nice day it was. We agreed with them,it was a nice day indeed.
We also saw these two turtles.  They didn't wave or even paid any attention to us. We have never seen anything but the usual bird or turtles here.  We haven't even seen a snake, which is ok with us.
We had a nice full day.
I hope you have a great day and thanks for stopping by.

Walkinf

Yesterday we got back to walking after the cold few days then the dentist appointments.  We were back at the John Chesnut Park.  It was a nice and not to cool nor to hot of a day.

We were in hopes of seeing more deer, but it didn't happen.

Ditto

Yeah, thats right. Yesterday was just a repeat of the day before. Nancy was back to the dentist. This will be going on for awhile. She has to have some extensive work in that mouth of hers. So extensive and since we have no dental insurance it will be expensive also.  So much that we are going for a second opinion Monday.  I have a great health plan with the union where I retired from but, they have no dental on it.  I guess they think old people are not suposse to have any dental problems by the time they retire.
We have no plans for today.  Which is the way we like it,so we just have to wait and see what happens.
Have yourself a great day.

Busy Day

Yesterday Nancy went to the dentist to see about her teeth. Well we got there at noon and spent a couple of hours at the dentist.  Then of course we had to go to Walmart, where it took up more time.  On the way back to the house I stopped in Domino's Pizza and bought the $7.99 3 topping large pizza.  It was very good. By then it was time to settle in for some computer and tv time.
A really busy day without doing anything.
I hope you have a great day.

Christmas and New Years Day is over.  So yesterday was the day I took the lights down. I wanted to get started early, because the day was going to get colder. The sun was shining very pleasent working weather.
Spanish moss caused this tree to die out.

Around 2:00pm we thought we would go out to the JB Starkey Park to do some walking. I was thinking it was still nice outside. So in short pants and no jacket off we went.  Big mistake, man the wind was cold and that was a very short walk. Feeling much colder than what it really was we came home and stayed put for the rest of the evening.
It was 43° and suppose to be colder tomorrow morning. I know its much colder where you are so stay bundled up and have yourself a great day.

Happy New Year

I want to wish each one of you a Happy New Year and the best of everything this year. Did you stay up to ring in the new year?  I was up watching the various things on tv as I have for many years.
Yesterday I watched a college basketball game.  After that our friends Lena and Earl came over from Zephyrhills to visit. After talking for sometime we went to the Golden Corral to have dinner. We ate and talked some more catching up on  our lives of whats been happening scine the last time we were together. After getting back to the house Lena and Earl had to leave,it was getting late and Earl is like I am he doesn't like to drive in the dark.
Nancy and I made cabbage rolls after they left and this took up a little more of the evening.
So I guess we had a busy day.
Hope your day is good.
