Feeling Rotten

Folks this post will be short.  I've had a sinus attack and feel miserable, had to sit in a chair all night so I wouldn't keep Nancy awake.  I did go to the doctor early this morning and gave me a perscription for a zpac.  Some way to spend Nancy and my 54th annerversary.

Cold Again

You could tell by the dark clouds at sunset yesterday that it was going to be another cold night.   We did brave the cold weather and got out to Harbor Freight,Kmart,Walmart and Little Caesar's Pizza where the deal was buy one "Hot n Ready" and get one free.  Can't pass up a deal can we?   The rest of the evening was as usual computer and tv time, with a little reading in also.

Unusual-Usual?

What in the world is going on in Florida?  Last year it was so cold and everyone said that it was unusual for Florida to be like that.  This year the same thing is happening.  The temp for the next couple of nights is going to be down in the low 30s.  Is this going to be the new normal weather for Florida?  This is not what I come to Florida for.  You say I should be glad I'm not up north, well I'm not up north,I'm in Florida and I want my warm days and nights back.   OK enough crying,I hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas day and have a nice weekend.
Until next time,stay safe,

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas everyone. This is Chrismas eve looking down 10th street here in the park.
And looking down 9th street.
I hopr you are having a great Chrismas Day today.  Nancy and I got all of our shopping finished and she only had to take back one thing(so far).
We will be like most people today, just sitting around maybe watch a little tv and over eating on snacks.
Whoever you are and wherever you are have a safe and happy day.

Christmas Presents

Yesterday we went down to Safety Harbor to the Quality Sausage House. This is a Hungarian run place where they sale home made sausages and different meats. I bought a few thing that I haven't eaten in years and one item that I haven't eaten since I was a small kid. Nancy had to take back a few presents, one that I bought her and one she got for herself. First it was to Applebee's for an early dinner. Our dinners are always early. Today we have to stay in for a while because we have some things that have to be done. Then maybe we will get out.
So as you can see we are not doing anything very exciting. Hope everyone has all their Christmas shopping over with.

Out Again

Yesterday we finally got out to do some walking. It looked like winter with the dead leaves along the trail. It had warmed up enough to enjoy the walk without getting to warm.
There was enough green in the woods to make it look pretty as a picture.

Which was what this young artist thought also. She was doing a beautiful painting.
She was really concentrating on her subject as she painted. We enjoyed the day so much more as we were able to get out in the fresh air for our walking.
We didn't see any unusual animals along the way, just the squirrels and a bird or two. Didn't even see an alligator.

Winter

The weather still has that winter time feel to it.  Yesterday was suppose to get up to 66° but I don't think it made past 55°.  That upon a constant sea mist and a little breeze sure felt like winter time.  Of by wednesday it will be in the 70s for the rest of the week.  Yesterday we used the Dine-A-Mate coupon for a buy one get one free meal.  We went to Pam/s Country Kitchen for the first time to eat.  It was good food and quick service with a fare amount of cusotmers.  This is a place we may come back to.
This is your last week get get that special someone a Christmas present.
Stay healthy and warm.

Nice Weather

Yesterday was nice, with the temp at 70 + plus a little extra.  It felt so good to be out in short sleeves and not being bundled up.  We went to the USA Flea Market again to buy some fresh vegetables.  That is about all we get their anymore.  Every once in a while we might find something else but not very often.  After walking and looking at the flea market we came home, but first it was a stop at Little Caesars to get our pizza fix for this week.  Last night the Christmas lights that I have hanging on the carport went out.  So now I will have to take them down and put up more.
Nothing for the day except college basket.

Nothing new

The posting is slow now that we aren't going anywhere since it cold weather.  We did manage to go to Anthony's yesterday for their wednesday dinner special.  All you can eat spaghetti with soup or salad and bread for $5.50.  We took the wedding soup which is very good.   Then Nancy went to Beall's Outlet where she bought a couple of things, then it was to Walmart, always Walmart.  Why can't you ever pass up Walmart?  Then being the big spender that I am it was to McDonalds for the wednesday 49¢ hamburger which will be for todays great meal.  Todays weather is going to be warmer and thats good news.
Have yourself a great day.

Falling Apart

I guess no need to post about how cold it is,because chances are you are much colder than we are.
Now the "falling apart" thing.  For some reason friday afternoon my left I stated to get bloody and by evening time the eye was all blood in the white part and is still the same this morning.  I was hoping that it would look better by now.  If that was not enough last week I strained my back some way, maybe hanging up the Christmas lights?  Well even though it was still a little sore I thought it was in pretty good shape, not so. Yesterday evening while getting in the flowers in preperation for the freezing weather I lifted and carried in a long pot of flowers and by the time I got inside I had to go down to my knees with the some of the worst pain that I have had. I crawled to the sofa and stayed there for some time before I could move.  Nancy asked if I wanted her to call and ambulance and I said no!  I hope it will eventually get better.
So much about me,how are you doing?  Staying warm I hope.

Saturday

Saturday mornings are my special breakfast day when I have eggs, biscuits, plus oinions tomatoes, peppers, bacon and everything else I can throw on the plate. When you are young you are taught to not play with your food.  Well yesterday morning it all looked bright and Christmasy so I couldn't help but make myself a Christmas wreath.  Afterward I threw it all together for a great breakfast.
Getting out saturday was chilly and gloomy with the gulf mist coming in.
Yes our fuel prises are on the rise again, just in time for the holidays.
I spent the day sitting up the solar panel and charge controller just to get a feel of things.  This is a temporary set up as all this will go on the motorhome to help to keep the house batteries charged up.

We Missed You

Ah, the US Mail service. I ordered a solar charge controller for my small solar setup December,2 and have been tracking it by the tracking number for the last week. So yesterday morning I see it arrived in New Port Richey. I told Nancy that it will be here when the mail comes, not so. About a week ago the my service here to the park changed, the mail delivery person always brought our mail to the boxes that are in each street in the park. They informed the park that they no longer could do that. All the mail would be left in the office and the office people would have to put it in our boxes, which wasn't a problem for us.
Well I had to go to the office yesterday to see about something and they gave me a paper from the US Mail that said "sorry we missed you"huh whats this.
I will have to pick up the package today at the post office. I finally figured out what happened. That package couldn't come to my house because the new rule that the mail person no longer delivers to the boxes, they leave the mail at the office. They couldn't leave the package at the office because I have to sign for it.
Did that leave you as confused as it did me? Good, and how was your day.

WOW

Can you believe I've gone a couple of days without posting. I didn't think I had missed a couple of days until Carolyn called and asked if I was filling alright.
It just seems like we've been busy and really not doing anything. The weather is still cooler then it should be.
I did get the Christmas lights put up around the carport. My flowers are coming along fair, they are just like all the people in that they don't like the cold weather either.
Until next time.

Pearl Harbor

Pearl Harbor Day,69 years ago was a sad day in America. How soon we forget. In watching news this morning there was no mention of it.

It was another cold night last night so I brought all my flowers inside. Here are a few on the table inside.

Here in the Florida room are the most of them. This photo is not all, there are some more on the other side. There is only a small amount of room to walk thru. It got down to 38° last night and will be that cold again tonight. I will be leaving the flowers where they are until the cold weather is over rather then taking a chance of them freezing. The three tomato plants are out back wrapped together with a light bulb pointed down on them to keep them a little warm. Needless to say we are just mostly staying inside and out of the cold.

Sunday, December 05, 2010

Well everything has made it through the cold spell. The flowers and tomato plants look good and healthy.
Nancy and myself are a different story. Nancy has'nt felt good in a week or so and I think I may have caught some kind of virus. We'll make it through this like we always do.
I've not taken my house batteries out of the motorhome and put them on a trickle charger like I did last year. The reason I'm going to set up a solar panel and charge controller to keep the batteries charged up. I've got all the power disconnect to the batteries and after almost 6 weeks I've still got 85% power in the batteries. I'm going to use a 55W solar panel so I think that should keep them charged up.

Still Cold

Its 38° this morning and feels colder then that. I brought my hanging basket of flowers inside last night. I left them out the night before and they looked puny yesterday. I didn't look at my tomatoes yet,I hope they are alright. It is suppose to stay cool for a couple more days. Were is all the global warming people?

Cold

It is hard to believe that tuesday the temp was 88° and this morning it is 41°.

Yes we even went down to Howard Park to lay out in the sun. We even got enough sun to get a little red on our skin.
It was nice being out near the water tuesday. Not today though.
Yesterday it was very windy and we had to go to Walmart for a few things. Then after coming home it was time for our Little Caesar's pizza.
Don't have any plans for the day and the temp is only going to be 62° so not much outside running around. I guess it will be tv and computer time today.
You have a good day and stay warm where ever you are.

Out again

We finally got out to do some walking yesterday even though the temp was cool it was good to be out walking.  All the dead leaves around sure looked like winter time.

This was a first for us.  A nice young artist was out in the woods painting. I painting was already beautiful,so I know when she is finished someone will have a first class painting.

Just look at the concentration on her face.
This was a very nice day to be out.

Monday, November 29, 2010

We were still tired yesterday so nothing but laying around. Today we had a doctors appointment for our annual checkup and to get our perscription for our medicine. From there we went for a little walk in the mall then to the Super Chinese Buffet. Then it was to Big Lots and Target to walk and look. That took up almost all day.

Good Trip

We made it back home after the great weekend that we had visiting with Jarod and Chelsea. They are a great couple to be around. They are very excited about the baby boy that is soon to arrive within the next month. The little ones room is fixed up so nice as well as all the house is. They can be very proud of themselves.

We can more than enough to eat for thanksgiving. We had turkey and ham with all the side dishes. I think everyone of us had a great time being together.
Yesterday morning they were all up early to do the "Black Friday" shopping. Not Nancy and I we rather sleep and not get up at 5 am to go shopping, that is not us any more.

Here is Jarod with his Nanny. We just love all of our children. Jarod was all excited about the things he got shopping friday. Some of which he will take to Kiwait, when he is deployed there in a month or so.

As you can see even the family dog had a great time. "Allie"just loves to swim in the pool and she stayed there most of the day.

Happy Thanksgiving

We did get away early yesterday morning. The roads had travelers going and coming but not so crowded that made the traveling nice.

After seeing various things and passing by Bubba's Place.
Traveling through some filled roads. I try to stay off interstates as much as possible so I can see things besides people in their cars rushing by me.

We finally made it to Alabama.
We went through several small towns that were at times on the main roads before the interstates. It always gives me a sad feeling, because I can remember when these towns were thriving with bussiness.
We stopped in one of the towns for a good buffet. We like to taste cooking of the local establishments rather than the same chain restaurant food. Most of the time its good and then sometimes not to tasty.
We did get to Chelsea and Jarods house which is a large house with a large back yard and inground pool. They have things fixed up nice and neat. We will be having our Thanksgiving dinner later on today.
I hope everyone has a great thankgiving today and may the Lord bless and keep you.

Alabama

We will be leaving early this morning to be with our grandson in Enterprise,Alabama for Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Jarod is going to be shipped out to Kiwait the first of the year and wanted us to spend the holiday with him and his young wife Chelsea.

Monday

Yesterday morning started out by looking out the window when I woke up to see this squirrel eating out of the bird seeds. The squirrels alway do this but this one looked like it had large ears and they were sticking out so much. After our breakfast we got ready and went down to Safety Harbor to the Quality Sausage House were I was going to buy a few things. I didn't check on the time schedule to see the operating hours and wouldn't you know,it was closed. So we will have to go another day.
On the way back we stopped and did some walking at the John Chesnut Park where we saw this Red Shouldered Hawk. This is a pretty bird. It was a young bird that let us get very close.

This a panoramic view of Tarpon Lake consisting of 4 photos stitched together.

On the way back home we had dinner at Smiths Cafe. We used another coupon out of the Dine-A-Mate coupon booklet.

One of a few restaurants that have the "Blue Plate Specials. We didn't order any of the specials, but off of the menu and the food was good.
Another very good day.

Sunday

Saturday was as you might guess? Yes watching college basketball games, this is my time of the year and I probably spent too much time in front of the television, but I do get some of my work finished beore I settle down for the day.

Yesterday was church day and afterwards we had lunch, dinner or was it breakfast? Anyway we ordered off the breakfast menu. We ate at the Breakfast Station which is on our way home and once again this was a buy one get one free using the Dine-A-Mate coupon booklet put out by the Suncoast News. After only 3 meals eating out the coupon booklet has paid for its self.
After getting back to the house and getting into more comfortable clothes we settle in for the evening, being on the computer, watching tv and reading the Sunday paper.

Flea Market

Yesterday we went to the USA Flea Market to walk and look at things. Nancy bought her a few things she also bought 10 ball point pens for $1.00. The pens were a good bargain, they different company names on them. They must have got the name or something wrong tobe selling them. I also bought some tomatoes and peppers from the little market way in the back. I always get my vegetables at this little place because they have the best prices. From there it was to Walmart for some groceries. Then it was time to come home were I watched college basketball and Nancy read the rest of the evening.

Friday, November 19, 2010

Wednesday we went walking in the James E Grey Preserve. This is another good park for walking it has nice wide boardwalks along the river. We didn't see any animals in this park but we did see the fish jumping in the river. We also saw a couple of fish that looked like they were 18 to 20 inches long swimming at the top of the water.

The water was nice and clear. This is a park that is off the beaten path and is very little used.

Yesterday our walking was at the mall where we went in and out of some of the stores. We got to the mall at the right time and it was not crowded.

Good Breakfast

Yesterday was a some what slow day. It looked as though it would rain just any minute with the wind blowing all day long and cloudy.  It didn't rain until late in the evening.  I watched some of the college basketball games that ESPN had on their 24 hour season opening.  I grilled some nice 3/4 thick petite sirloin steaks.

Even had steak left over for a nice breakfast this morning, with some left over fries.
Maybe we can get out to walk today.

Tuesday, November 16, 2010

At the park

We finally got to go to the John Chesnut Park to walk yesterday.  This is one of our favorite places to walk and it sure did feel good to be there again.

The park has some board walks and also gravel walkways.  The boardwalks are in the places where on occasionaly water will back up.

There are 2 bridges where you cross over to the lake side of the park.
We got to see a deer yesterday,we enjoy seeing the deer.  It is not everytime we are here that this happens.
And of course the different birds are always here. We didn't see any of the Blue Herons this time.  Maybe later on when they start nesting.  Another good day of out walking.  It just feels better when we walk in the woods.

Monday, November 15, 2010

Same 'O'

Still doing the same thing as always cleaning and putting out flowers

The hanging pots as well as the small pots that I bought are showing signs of life and are enjoy being in fresh potting soil and larger pots.  I just hope they come around and grow more before frost comes.  Just hope the cool spell will not last long.  I sure wouldn't want to redo all that I have done.
We did get to church yesterday and it felt good being back and in our church, seeing the people we haven't seen for a while.

Saturday, November 13, 2010

Nice Day

Yesterday was another good day.  I planted more flowers, went to Home Depot, bought more pots and flowers.  We also got a chance to get out and do our walking.

We went to the New Port Richey Park.  The walk around the back water of the bay is nice.

After walking you come to the pier.

The day was beautiful with the birds flying around.

This bird was looking for lunch.

A couple of guys having fun zipping around in their boat.

Thursday, November 11, 2010

Yesterday we didn't get out to go anywhere. We had a few things to do around the house.  I did grill a couple of bacon wrapped fillets, which turned out very tasty a good.  After eating we took a walk around the park and saw a few thing to photo.

The resident gopher turtle.

The lily pads were bloomed out yesterday evening.
