Hospital ER

Really not a lot to report on for yesterday.
I wasn't any better yesterday morning. So this being the fourth day feeling bad I got up  took a shower and headed to the hospital ER.
The first thing they ask me was, have I been out of the country?  I think that is the procedure these days.
After seeing the doctor he said he was ordering up a few things. An EKG, blood work. They said I was dehydrated so in went the IV with the drip, drip. After an hour or an hour and a half in comes the doctor to tell me he was prescribing me some high power anti-diarrhea medicine. He also said to be careful how I take it or it would plug me up.
I thought I was feeling pretty good after laying in the hospital for four hours but walking to the car was a chore.  After getting back to the motorhome I was on the bed sleeping off and on the rest of the evening.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

feeling lousy

After our showers yesterday we put everything away, unhooked the electric.  Then it was time to go across the road to dump the tanks and fill the fresh water tank.
We got to the Walmart in Princeton, West Virginia where Mark was waiting to pick up Sherry before we went to Callie's. But first we went to Bob Evans to eat a bite. After eating it was back to the motorhome to get the rest of the things Sherry had on board. After saying our goodbyes it was off to Callie's.
The drive way at Callie's is at an angle so I have the stack a lot of lumber to get the motorhome level.
I've been fighting a stomach cramp and the rest that goes with is for three days now and it doesn't seem to be getting better

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Goodbye Stony Fork

The great grandkids had a ball playing in the creek here at Stony Fork Campground.
Kind of reminds of when I was growing up. We had no pool, only the creek and river.
Turn them loose with a box of chalk and here is what you get.
They left yesterday, but not before Nancy and I got our goodbye hugs and kisses.
Today we will be going to Princeton, West Virginia to visit Nancy's sister Callie for a few day.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Repairs and hotdogs

Yesterday was another repair day,
I started to open one of the bays and the lever just swung out freely.  I knew what had happened as this has happened at least four times before. The small trigger that is in the latch is made out of the easy broken white metal.  So out comes the aluminum flat bar that I carry for just this. After sawing, filing and drilling the new part was made.  I put it back together to work again. I keep saying that I'm going to renew all the triggers before they break. But you know how that goes.
Also the three great grandchildren had a fun day here at Stony Fork Campground.   They got to play in the creek that runs through the park and afterwards we had a hotdog roast.  Later in the evening they watched cartoons on the tv.
It was a great day with all the children.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Taking a walk

We are enjoying our time here at the Stony Fork Campground.
We have a nice large back in site, complete with a picnic table, grill and lantern post.
Sherry and I have been taking a walk around the circle of sites.
Bigfoot Hunters van.
We were joined in our walking the other evening by a guy named Larry Davis an interest person.  He said he lived in Gibsonton, Florida at one time.  I asked if he was a "Carny" he said yes he did that for a while. He has been a Bigfoot Hunter for the last 34 years. He also said he has seen four of them.
Sherry's daughter Dee and her three children came up from Rogersville, Tennessee to spend a couple of days with us. The next few days should be interesting.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Stony Fork

Yesterday saw us leaving the Mayberry Campground in Mt Airy, North Carolina. The town that the Andy Griffith with his deputy Barney made famous. Even though it was raining hard we still made a quick drive around tour of the town so Sherry could see some of the spots made famous.  But not before we had our usual dinner at the Hungry Farmer Restaurant.  Which is located north on route 52 six mile out of Mt Airy.  This is one of the friendlies place you would want eat. It is buffet style with country cooking including hog jowls.
The drive was really going well.

That is until for some reason the traffic really slowed down.
But we did make it to Stony Fork Campground in the Jefferson National Forest.  We will be here for a few days before moving on.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Old Salem

Yesterday we left the Walmart in Lexington, North Carolina were we overnighted and drove the short distance to Winston Salem.  Sherry was excited about seeing old Salem town.
Nancy said it would be to hard on her to do all the walking so she stayed at the Welcome center while Sherry and I did a walk around looking at the old buildings.

Sherry and I both enjoyed the time here.
Here is the Gun Shop.
The large barn with the hay loft

that was built with out nails. It is held together with wooden pegs.
Even wood pegs in the floor.
Sherry pumping up some water with the old hand pump.
We had fun and another nice day of sight-seeing.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Country Roads

Yesterday was about the same as we were traveling the back roads again.

Of course it seems as though they are always working on the roads how can the roads need to be in such bad shape.
We stopped at a road side farmers wagon for fresh picked strawberries, tomatoes and cucumbers.
We had strawberry shortcake last night, they were sweet and delicious. Sherry just had to have a photo with the tractor.
This is one place we didn't do any sampling. We passed at least four of these wineries
We put quite a few miles in yesterday so we could be close to Winston Salem and a tour of Old Salem.  Sherry is enjoying the trip so much.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Nice day

Yesterday afternoon we left Lake Sinclair and started the journey north.
The two lane roads took us through the town of Edgefield, SC.
We have passed through towns that had horse statues, but this town had turkey's all over the place.
We took a couple of turns in Edgefield to check ot the old houses.
The Turkey Shoppe.
It was a good traveling day.  We saw several nice small towns.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Auto trouble

After being at Cain's Campground for a few day we left and are now at Lake Sinclair National Forest Campground.

We have a site with 50 amp electric and water hook ups.  There is also a dump station.
Everything has been gong good up until today.  I don't know if its because its Friday the 13th or what.  We went to Milledgeville to do the laundry and by a few groceries. First I stopped to fill up with fuel at Kroger then went into the store to get laundry detergent.  When I came out I started the car shifted out of park and that's when things went wrong. I could tell the shift lever was to easy to be changing the transmission gears and I didn't go anywhere. I looked for a while and saw the cable working but the transmission lever was not moving after checking the cable had broken.
So I called the Good Sam Emergency Roadside service and any way it will be Monday before the car is ready to go from the Chevrolet Service. In the mean time we will drive a rental auto.
Oh We have no wifi at the park so it will be a few days being back on line.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Cain's Creekside RV Park

Yesterday we moved from the Walmart lot and went north on I-75 to exit 29 where the small town of Hahira is located. Just a short distance north of town is Cain's Creekside RV Park. This is a nice Passport America Park.  After leveling up, hooking the water, electric and sewer hose it was back to see Jeremy, Allison and the kids Jeremy grilled some fantastic pork chops and with a couple of sides we had another good meal.
Nancy and I stayed visiting until the gang of them was off to a church basketball game.
After getting back to the motorhome we did some computing then watched a little television.
The view out of the front window of the small lake and the setting sun in the distance was relaxing after a good meal and better visiting with the children.  A great day indeed.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Good visiting.

Yesterday we left Live Oak around noon time taking our time for the short drive to Valdosta, Georgia. The first stop was at a FlyingJ to fill the tank with propane and also the small grill tank that I have.  Then after getting to Valdosta I parked at the Walmart. After unhooking the car we went over to Allison and Jeremy's house to spend the evening with them and the two great grand Andy and Hannah.  Later on in the evening Jeremy grill up a feast of hot dogs, hamburgers and polish sausage.
We all pigged out on the great tasting food.
Once again we had a rain in the middle of the night but it was not a storm like the night before.
We will be going over to visit again today Jeremy is having us another dinner so I guess it will be another good eating da and a great visiting day.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Day one

We got away yesterday afternoon ok. We only forgot to load a few things I think!
We just took our time on the road.  I stopped at the Crystal River Mall to stretch our legs and see what was new in the mall.
When we arrived at Live Oak we ate at Ken's BBQ. This make the third year in a row stopping here because the steaks are very good.

The above photos is the reason I prefer two lane roads rather than the interstate.  If you want to get somewhere in a hurry without seeing anything then the interstate is the way to go.
We spent the night at the Live Oak Walmart and in the middle of the night we had a heavy thunder storm with more than enough rain. The wind was clos to 60 mph which made the motorhome rock a bit.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Almost ready

Today will be much like it has been for the last couple of weeks.  Getting the motorhome ready to hit the road. Sherry, Nancy and I have been working all day long cleaning and packing things. Nancy not so much but all she can since she doesn't have a lot of strength,  We still will be busy today with things that can't be loaded until the last minute.
I took the motorhome to fill it with fuel Tuesday so I wouldn't have to do it tomorrow when we start the trip. I also thought I would check the portable generator to see if it would start. Well it didn't start up.  So yesterday for half of the day was working on the generator. I ended up taking the carburetor apart and found the bowl and float was all gummed up. Cleaned it put it back together and it started right up.
We are glad Sherry came down to help us. Without her it would have taken a lot longer getting things ready.
So it looks like we will be on our way tomorrow with what adventures we have facing us.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

To the airport

The past few days are much like the last week has been, cleaning and touching up in the motorhome.
Taking the trash out to the dumpster. Also cleaning up in the house.
Today we will be going to the airport to pick up our daughter Sherry. She will be helping us with the packing of the motorhome with Nancy doing the supervising of what we are to be taking.  We started a list of things to take a week ago. So maybe we will not forget to many things.
Here is "George" our motorhome anxiously waiting to get on the road.
We are trying to get things together to leave Friday.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.
