Birthday Time

I've been running around to different places checking on things for my next project.
I went to Home Depot to check on a certain size lumber that I will need for the project.

Next up was Walmart to look at the jig saws they have to replace the old one that I have and like the Stapler it is worn out.  Walmart does have the jig saw but Amazon has a much better price on it so I ordered it from Amazon and the jig saw will be here tomorrow.

Today is a big day for me---its my Birthday number 79 WOW.

So today it will be a Birthday dinner (breakfast) on Denny's Restaurant because they sent me a Birthday coupon for a free Grand Slam Breakfast.
It doesn't end there because one day this week we will be going to Golden Corral using the free dinner coupon the sent me.  This coupon is one free dinner with a paid dinner.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Two more finished.

I'm still catching up on a few things and Nancy is being so good to me.  The other day she had me and of course for her also a pork chop dinner with good fried potatoes and green beans.
I ordered seat covers for the driver and passenger seats and put them on.  I read the review before I ordered them that being a universal fit that they would not be an exact fit.  But like so many that got the covers said it sure beat what the old seats were.
Now maybe we will not have to have a towel to sit on.

I also cleaned the entry door masked it off then spray painted it. The old door like everything else on the motorhome was showing its age and needed a little TLC.

So you people that are thinking of going to be full timers it is not a long vacation.  You still have work to do around your house on wheels just like you do living in a stick and brick house.
At least when you don't like your yard you can move to another location with the house on wheels its a good feeling to be able to do that.

Well I guess its on to the next project.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Dinette Cushions Finished

It was back to the dinette cushions yesterday. well actually it was the trim around the cushions and not the cushions themselves.  After taking the trim off I had to strip the material off of the wood remove more staples that was used to hold the material than was really needed.  It seems that at times it takes longer preparing to do the work than doing the work.
Stretching the new material and doing the stapling was going along good until the staple gun decided to not shoot out the staples.  My first thought was I was out of staples but taking a look that was not the problem.  My stapler thought after using it for at least 25 years it was time to retire. I thought well old friend if you want to quit you just go ahead you have served  me well.  So in the trash it went, but wait this was a Sear Craftsman Stapler I wonder do they still honor the lifetime warranty I will find out.
I went to Walmart and bought a new Arrow T-50 Stapler with that in hand I finished up the trim pieces. Nancy and I thought the project turned out pretty good.

This is the before photo with the cushion pattern and the olive green trim.  Fifteen years old and very worn.

This is the after photo with the light gray and white cushion and the dark gray trim.  It does look a better and much brighter.

So now to the next project as I have three of them flowing around in my head I just have to make up my mind which one to do first.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

What's happening

Thought I had better drop a line or two in the blog.

I have been on a project that has taken a little more time than I thought it would.  Plus I still have the normal things that needs to be done.
Like another load of laundry, going to get groceries, trash to the dumpster and more.

I would put photo's up of what I'm working on but I wanted to wait until I'm finished to have the before and after photo's.  Its just things to do while waiting on Nancy's eyes to heal to have her glasses made and then we can take off for the summer.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Small stuff

Monday the first thing I did was go down to the park laundromat to do a load of laundry through the washer and dryer.

When I got back with the carpet being completely dried I shook out the throw rugs or if you prefer I shook out the scatter rugs and put them in their proper place.
Then next was to work on the drawer under the oven that had dropped down and was out of alinement.
Next up was to take the filters out of both air/conditioners and cut new ones to put in. I buy the foam filter material from Walmart I buy a pack for .99 which has enough to make three filters.
After that a couple of the normal things that have to be taken care of like taking the trash down to the dumpster.

Yesterday the first thing I did was to take out the screens in the Fantastic Fan and the bathroom to give them a good cleaning.
Nancy said she needed to get her hair cut so we went up to Spring Hill to Great Clips to have them to cut her hair.
From there it was to Walmart to do a little shopping and pick out a material to upholster the dinette cushions. We didn't really like the material that we bought the other day.  Of course the reason we did get it was to see if I could do it and how it would look.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

The carpet is cleaned.

Yesterday was a busy day for us in that we got up early to get things up and out of the way
so the Carpet Cleaner could start cleaning the carpets when he got here.
He was scheduled to be here between 10:00 am and 11:00 am.  Well he called at 11:10 and said he was just finishing up on another job and would be here shortly  The short time was another half an hour when he called to say he was on his way and still took another half an hour to get here.

He did finally get here I showed him the carpet the sofa and the chair I also wanted cleaned and also to put scotchgard on all of it. He got started and within twenty minutes a problem came up and it took a while to solve the problem that it was a section of the water hose wasn't letting the water come through.  All that plus he was deep cleaning it so it took him three and a half hours to finish.

After the Carpet Cleaner left Nancy and I decided we would got to Little Caesar's and get a pepperoni pizza.  We brought the pizza home to eat, after finishing the pizza we put everything back together in the proper places. We had to set a lot of things on the bed to be out of the way of the carpet cleaner.
The sofa, chair and carpet looks and feel much better after the cleaning.

So now it will be on the next project.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Good eating

I hope you had a very good Easter and a happy one.
Nancy and I stayed home to enjoy a nice quite meal alone.  We both were busy doing the peeling and mixing of different things for our meal and didn't take time for lunch because we knew we would be stuffing ourselves at supper time.
After about three hours in the oven the ham with just a little honey on it came out of the oven ready to be carved.  This was the only small ham that Winn Dixie had and it was enough to feed six people so we will have a lot leftover.
So with the ham was candied sweet potatoes, green beans, deviled eggs and a hot roll we enjoyed our meal and for sure we did stuff ourselves enough the we didn't eat anything the rest of the evening.
The ham was cooked to perfection as was everything else.  That Nancy of mine can really cook.

Yesterday I did a little painting on the inside of my bay doors, with the motorhome being fifteen years old its beginning to look a little old and needs to be shaped up a little.
We also have a carpet cleaning crew coming out tomorrow to clean the carpets and do the upholstery.

Since we have to stay longer than we had planned on because of Nancy's eyes we have a few more things we are going to do concerning the motorhome.

I guess you have heard about all the fires in Florida.  They have these signs out on the highway to keep us award of the fog and smoke but most of the people driving still do not slow down.

Nancy and I will be clearing the carpet as much as we can today so the cleaners can get to cleaning the carpets as soon as they get here.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Happy Easter

First I wish all of you a Happy Easter this special day.  May you and your family enjoy a quiet time together.

Yesterday was a day for somethings that needed to be taken care of.  I did the vacuuming then took the rugs outside to give them a good shaking out.  For some reason our shower head needs to be taken apart to clean out the holes since we are in this park.  This is the only time that it needs to be done. I have no idea why unless they have old water lines in the park.  The park itself is old so it could be old metal water lines.

After catching up on my work I went to the Winn Dixie Store to get a ham and all that goes with it because Nancy  said she wanted to have a good Easter Dinner for us and of course she will have no argument from me.  I have enjoyed her cooking for a long, long time.
She knows on a holiday I like to snack on the leftovers and with just the two of us there are a lot of leftovers to eat ummm.
Besides my spaghetti is just about gone.  The plate full in the photo is the spaghetti with a lot of cheese baked on top of it.

On the way to the store I thought I would snap a couple of pictures to show you a couple of places near us.
This one is a Mobile home and RV Parts place. I've been in to look around but haven't bought anything from them yet.
This is one of those places from years ago when there were a bunch of roadside attractions.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Spaghetti

Yesterday was a day to the park laundromat.  Nancy said that if I would wait until she got ready she would help me with the laundry.  I told her by the time she got ready I could be finished with it, so I did.
After I had a small lunch I was out the door and on the way to the Roadside Market.
I bought some tomatoes, bananas, small cucumbers and one of the largest green peppers I have ever seen. All of the items with the exception of the bananas are grown local here in Florida and are much cheaper and fresher than in the chain super markets.
From there it was to Save A Lot for the ingredients to make spaghetti. In my opinion Nancy makes the best spaghetti I have ever eaten and that is a lot of spaghetti and a mighty lot of years.
She uses a lot of meat and a lot of spices which end up with a lot of spaghetti that lasts me for a few days and I always gain weight because I eat too much of it.

I keep getting behind on my work and it may be due to Nancy keeps adding to the list.
We do have several things that we want to do before we take off for the summer.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Old sofa gone.

Nancy was wondering how I would get the green sofa taken away and to be honest that had crossed my mind also.
Monday morning I told Nancy I would put it on Graigslist someone might need it.
With a doubtful tone she says why no one would want that old thing.  I then said remember the saying "one mans trash is another mans treasure".

Yesterday I got a call about the green sofa and a few questions about the measurement on it so the guy says he will be over to look at it.  The guy gets here with his wife they look it over sat on it and said it was for their son he had a small trailer and it would be just what he needed. Then as always they asked what the lowest I would take for it.  I came down on the price so they took it with them.

With the complete install of the new sofa we will now look to get someone to come in and clean the carpets and all the upholstery in the motorhome.

Yesterday I went to the Winn Dixie store to get us some of their Fried Chicken that came with a free side.  It was a good deal the Fried Chicken was $6.00 and the free side had a regular price of $2.99.
That with a baked potato fresh from our microwave made for a tasty supper.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

A little busy

Yes I was  little busy over the week end.

First thing was Friday after breakfast I was on the computer reading the morning blogs as I always do.  Then I look at the Craigslist to see if they have anything at a bargain that I need or can use.
There were a few items in the rv and camping section but nothing I could use. I have been wanting to get another Jacknife sofa, the green one we have had for sometime doesn't exactly match but at the time we really needed one so we got that one.
I did notice that one person had several items for sale but not a sofa.  Nancy suggested that I should call them and see if they might have one or know where one was.  So I called the nd asked the guy on the phone if he had the type of sofa that we needed and he said he would have one in a couple of days that he had a bus he is converting to a motorhome with the sofa in it he is pulling out to put in a home type sofa. I asked if it was a Jackknife sofa he said it was a pull out sofa that did take up that much room when in the bed position.  He said I could come and look at it so off I go to see it.
I got over to the place and went in the bus to look at the sofa, well what do you know it looked good and it was a Jacknife sofa I got my tape measure to check the length and it was the right length.
I told him I would take it he said he would bring it over Sunday.

Saturday morning Nancy fixed my good breakfast eggs, country ham with some onions, peppers, toast and coffee.
After breakfast I went out to let the awning back out since the wind had died down enough.
Next in order was to take out the Green sofa to make preparation for the new to us sofa that was coming Sunday.
So now instead of the light Green Olive color sofa.
We have the better matching Blue sofa.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Awning up again

Thursday the winds continued to blow and slowly through the day pick up in force.
I set up the grill and tried to grill us a sirloin steak but with the wind blowing and me trying to keep the flame going in the grill I soon gave up on the idea. So with the steak only half done after half and hour I shut things down and took it inside where Nancy finished the steak up on the stove.
She did a great job on the steak and it tasted real good.  After I finished my meal and giving it time to digest a little I was outside.

The weather people had a forecast of strong winds with rain for the night I thought it would be best if I let up the patio awning.  It was a good thing because during the night the winds did get stronger and rocked the motorhome a few times.  We went to sleep during the night with the window open and could hear thunder and see flashes of lightning in the distance.  When the so called storm was upon us there was a lot of thunder and lightning but very little rain but enough that I had to close the window.

Yesterday I went to Winn Dixie to buy a few things that we do not use much of like butter milk for Nancy to fix some corn bread to go with the slaw and "Pinto Beans" we were having for supper.
Now for you folks that don't know what Pinto Beans are you may call them Brown Beans.
Call them what you may they sure do taste good with some onions, corn bread and slaw which Nancy's way of fixing them always taste real good.

The winds were still blowing to much to let out the awning so it stayed in the up position.
I may let it down today if the winds die down some today.

Speaking of today when we woke up this morning the temperature was 55* and is just going to be in the 70's today.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Lift off on hold

Like so many times this season it looks like I will be raising the patio awning to close it.  The weather people are telling us to expect rain storms with windy conditions.
It is the same storm that is coming trough the mid-west with the tornadoes.  They are saying it will not be that bad for us and will move through quickly.

Nancy had her eyes checked yesterday and they told her everything looked good and to come back in a month.  They did tell her to get some artificial tears because she has dry eyes and that is the reason her eyes have been bothering her.
So we can say once again "lift off on hold".

So with that news we will once again be putting off our summer travels for another month.
I have been trying to put together our travel plans and have changed them several times already so I think I will just wait until things are more definite.  It is not a problem we have be this way many times before being full timers since 2000 you just go with the flow.

The important thing for now is to make sure Nancy's eyes are doing good when we leave for our journey.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Reading Glasses

Another night of having the overhead window open because the temperature was in the low 70's through out the night.
Today will be another hot day with 90* forecast with lots of sunshine.

The weekend was the NCAA Basketball Tournament consisting of two games and as usual there was tears on one side for those that lost and joy on the winning teams Tonight will finish up the games for another college basketball season.

Nancy's eyes are still bothering her some and she is having a hard time without glasses so yesterday we went to Walmart to get her a pair of reading glasses.  These will at least help her as far as reading and being able to see things on the computer.

She will be going back to the East Coast Eye Institute tomorrow to check her eyes again.  We are hoping for the best but at the same time we know we might have to wait longer until she can have her glasses made at this time. It may be another week or two before her eyes are well enough to be examined for her new glasses.

With the weather going to be hot today it looks like inside work with the airconditioner to keep us cool.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Doing a little

The weather people said we were going to get a storm late Thursday night and it was warm so we left overhead window open because it was warm.  Early morning before daylight Friday it started sprinkling rain so I closed the window but it never did rain hard and didn't last long.

Friday was the day to put the finishing touches on my new batteries installation so I can now mark that off the list.  I took the garbage to the dumpster the did some straightening up of the outside bays throwing away a few things and changing from one bay to another.
I don't think you ever get stuff where you are finished because in a day or two its always back to changing again.

After being satisfied for the time being with the outside bays I took a load of clothes to the camp laundromat to wash and dry.

The weather is getting rather warm for the next week with a chance of rain for four days.  Can't complain about the rain we haven't had much rain this winter and spring and this area is in a drought so we need the rain if the crops are going to do any good.

Today I will be watching the Final Four Basketball Games.

Thanks for stopping and have a great day.
