Using the Residentia Refrigerator

Yesterday I went to the stores yes stores, five stores to be exact.  I wanted to get the sales of what the different stores had and since we have the new residential refrigerator I was wanted to load it up.
It sure does seen a lot larger and it goes way back in depth.

So last night I wanted to see how it would work using the 2000W pure sine wave inverter measuring it with the Kill A Watt connected.
I was really surprised me this morning when checking the power consumption.
In 7 and a half hours it used  .12 kwh which was hardly any drainage on the batteries.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Mighty long day

What a good weekend I had with watching a bunch of college football and basketball games.

The weather has changed from the cold rainy days to one of high 70's and sunshine.  It sure makes a person fell much better and soothes the old bones.

Yesterday was a busy day doing the normal chores.  I first did a couple loads of laundry while Nancy was getting ready.  After that it was a trip to Walmart to buy some groceries and other things we needed.  It had to bee the longest day ever in Walmart.  I mean that was the slowest checkout yet.
It made me wonder "has anyone ever died waiting to be checked out.

it was dark by the time we got back home and being tired we did nothing the rest of the evening.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Refrigerator in and cooling good

Home Depot did deliver our Magic Chef 9.9 cu-ft refrigerator Wednesday but not until 5:00 pm and that didn't leave me much time to work on it.

Yesterday being Thanksgiving Day and we had plans to have dinner with some of our friends so that let Thursday not doing anything.

It rained most of the night Wednesday and still coming down very hard yesterday but we were still going to Bob Evans to meet our friends for dinner.

All the rain and even before we left the house we had a tornado warning for our area.  But lucky for us the tornado didn't materialize.
Our friend Lee King was already there and in a short Jane and Dick Barker arrived.
We didn't have to wait very long for our table to come available.
The turkey and dressing with the sides and pie was very good and the conversation among friends was even better.

So today with a little more trimming on the sides the refrigerator was fitting in good.  I then drilling holes in the base put several screws in.  All that's left is to seal around the refrigerator then trim it and it is good to be on the road with it.

The door sticks out somewhat but with the refrigerator having a wall on the right side that is out 4" from the front of the door will not be a problem.

I did get a chance to watch some college basketball games today was that was a good time and a chance to get a little rest period.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Waiting for new refrigerator

Here is what the weather has looked like for the last couple of days with a forecast of rain each day and we only get sprinkles.

I went back to Home Depot Monday to check on a residential refrigerator to see if they might have something besides the Magic Chef 10.1 cu-ft model that I saw the other day.  Well they had  another Magic Chef 9.9 cu-ft with a different shelf arrangement in the door.
At times I put pressure on myself to get things done as I did the new refrigerator in buying it and asking them to deliver it today.

So when I got back home I started getting the old Dometic out by first taking the doors off.
There were four screws holding it in place plus two screws in the front.  I then stacked 4x4's cut 8" long that I keep just in case I need them.  I set a couple of 2x6 boards across these and pulled the old frig out.

Remember me saying that the old frig was giving us trouble and it was about time to change it out.
I just didn't know how close to the time it would quit and as I was pulling it out it started leaking ammonia out of the cooling coils.

I can do a lot of things but I'm not Superman, I had to get my neighbor to help me carry the old Dometic Refrigerator out the door.

And so here we are waiting for our new Magic Chef 9.9 cu-ft refrigerator.  I had to add some insulation to the right side as the old insulation had fallen down.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Still refrigerator looking

Friday was another day of looking for a residential refrigerator of the right size to fit in the opening to replace the old Dometic that we have.
I went to Lowes to check on the ones they have but the only brand that they had was a Haier and after reading the reviews I didn't want to take a chance on one of those.  Maybe if it wasn't over half of the reviews complaining of the compressor failure I might consider one but that was just not for the best.

Of course yesterday was the college football day and as usual there were upsets again.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Shopping

Wednesday was a running around day.  First I went to Rural King  for some Potato Chips for me and I got Tortilla Chips for Nancy. Rural King is the only store I have found that sells the brand of chips that I like and I always buy two large bags when I buy them.
The next stop was Harbor Freight to get a flexible extension for my drill and a free gift of a four outlet power strip with the coupon I had.
Next up was on down the line for a stop at Winn Dixie to buy 12 pack soft drinks at four for $12.00.

Then a stop at the Walmart (you just can't be out and not go to Walmart)  for a few things.
Next and last stop was Dollar Tree for a couple of items.

Yesterday day I went to make my appointment to have my shoulder checked and the date will be Tuesday morning.
I then went to Home Depot to look at the refrigerators for the motorhome to replace the replace our exiting propane electric frig that has been acting up for way to long.
They had a Magic Chef that was the right size but I didn't like the shelves in the door arrangement. So I will keep looking at other refrigerators.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

A little walking

Well it looks like Monday was a different day for us.
I asked Nancy if she felt like doing a little walking and It surprised me when she said yes.  So we went down to the James E Grey Preserve to do our walking.

The first thing you see when you park the car is the boat launch where in the last year they have made some improvements. Such as a boardwalk and a better way to launch a kayak.
The river is nice and slow moving with low hanging tree branches.

After leaving the boat launch there is a large bulletin board showing the animals there you may see in the Preserve.  You might see some of these animals but the only animals we saw was this and more lizards and a few squirrels.
After a short walk through the grassy area you come to a very nice elevated boardwalk.

We came to the place where we usually look over in the water but the river is flowing so low that it didn't have any water here.

But the island with the tall palm tree had plenty of water around it. This is one of those nice spots to take a photo.

Well it looks like us old folks got a little tired from not doing too much walking these days and had to sit to rest the old bones for a while.

We did reach the spot where there is a pavilion where there is a curve in the river that you can look up and down the river.

We saw several fish that looked to be nearly a couple of feet long.

When we got through walking and not had having lunch we where getting hungry so we went to Steak and shake to eat. We each had a burger mine with fries and Nancy had onion rings both meals were delicious.  Nancy also got a milkshake to go with both of us finishing that on the way home.

Yesterday we both was at the doctor for our back for the winter check up. I've had a sore shoulder for a long time so the doctor gave me a referral  to see a Orthopedic Specialists.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Ball Games

Wow if you watched the college football games on Saturday I know you had a good exciting day.
A few of the games where big upsets and really a run away.

Nancy and I both had some kind of bug with both of us feeling the same way and not feeling like doing anything to much than our usual chores of taking trash to the dumpster and a little house cleaning.
Seem as though how you feel there are still a few small things that has to be taking care of.

Yesterday I went to Walmart to pick up few groceries then later on in the evening I watched a college basketball game.
No news from the home front so I guess everyone is doing ok.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Veteran's Day

Thanks to all Veteran's you are a special person and our real heroes.

Some pink clouds last evening to say that it will turn colder and it did this morning we woke up to 53 degrees.

I did a few projects yesterday that did not take very long to complete.

Then in the evening time I fired up the grill for a couple of 12 oz. T-Bone Steaks that with an onion wrapped in aluminum foil for our supper.  Nancy baked me a potato and a sweet potato for herself along with some cooked vegetables made for a good meal.
There was enough left over for more good eating today.

Then later on I settled in and watched a few College Basketball games, this is my time of the year that I enjoy.

Today will be a day of College Football Games so give me my Lazy Boy recliner and leave me alone.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Just things

Tuesday Nancy and I went to visit our dear friend Lee.  It sure was good to see him again and spend some time with him.
After our visit we stopped at the at the Walgreen Pharmacy to pick up our medication that I had filled on line in the morning hours.  We also had our flu shots so we were good to go.

We then went to Chili's to eat where we ordered the 2 for $22.00 each of us had the Chicken Fajita and chose the onion rings as the appetizer.  Nancy and I finished all of our meal but both of us were really stuffed to the top.

Yesterday I had to go back to Walgreens to pick up the last one of Nancy's prescription medications.

On the way back I took the scenic way back as I call the road that is closer to the gulf.
I saw this Osprey high on a limb it was a very large bird.

After getting back home I decided I had better fry up the 2 pound pack of country ham that was in the refrigerator.
Speaking of refrigerator it looks like we will have to buy a new one.  With all the symptoms with the one we have and being 15 years old it is time. So while we are here for the winter it is best rather than out on the road.
When we use up most or all that we can out of the refrigerator I we proceed to disconnecting it and taking it out for a new residential refrigerator.
This was the choice because of cost wise and already having solar panels, a 2000 watt pure sine wave inverter and extra batteries it made sense to do so.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Out grocery shopping

I had to look at the old refrigerator the first thing Monday because it had been acting up again.
Its been doing it for the last couple of years.  First it will warm up a little more than it should, stay that way for a time then it will take a notion to cool down below the normal range.
I may just have to pull it out and install a residential refrigerator.

Monday Nancy decided she would go to the store with me so it was off to Walmart to do some shopping for a few groceries and a little walking for her.

Next it was a stop at the Winn Dixie store and since it was getting late Nancy said get something for supper.
I bought her chicken tenders to go with bacon ranch pasta.  I had chicken wings in three different flavors.
After getting home putting the groceries away we had our chicken and pasta dinners and both tasted good and satisfying.

We then was on the computers doing our evening things then later on watched a little tv before going to bed.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

College Football

Even though yesterday was my College Football game day I still wanted to get a couple of things done that I needed to do.
First off I climbed on the roof to check out the satellite dish to see if the splice I put in the video was still connected. Everything looked ok so it was back off the roof.  Nancy doesn't like for me to be on the roof. She says a man my age (80 in six months) has no business climbing on roofs.

Then I finally got around to extending the patio awning and setting out the rugs with the lounge chairs on them, also the small table between the two chairs.

Then it was time for the football games and hot dogs.  The day ended with a few teams in a big upset game for them.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Around the old house

I finally got around to doing much needed getting the clothes down to the laundromat.
I only take a load to do at a time because the laundromat here at the park is so close to our site that I take a load then while a load is in the washer for 1/2 hour I can walk back home to do a small thing that needs my attention.
After the 1/2 hour is up I go back down take the clothes out of the washer and throw them in the dryer for an hour then walk back home to do the small stuff.
I did two loads of clothes this way Thursday and Nancy asked why I didn't take all the laundry down and do it all the same time.  I told her it was much easier for me todo it this way.

The nice large heated pool that we have in the park all cleaned and ready for they day.

Also the shuffle board court is ready and waiting for the players.

Thursday I did another load of clothes at the laundromat and that will do it for another week or so.

Then I drove out to the roadside market to see what they had.  I ended up buying locally grown tomatoes at $.99 a pound, bananas  $.29 a pound, apples $1.39 a pound, and last white seedless grapes $1.59 a pound.  That should hold us for a while then when needed I will go back for more fresh produce.

Well yesterday I was really disappointed in that I could not wait to go out to the USA Flea Market as I have been doing the last seventeen years we have been coming here to only have been told that it was closed.  And not only closed but it has been torn down, gone, zilch man what a bummer it was like being told an old friend was no longer around.

So I just drove around the area to see what had changed in the way of new building being erected.

I bought Nancy and myself a Hot and Ready Pizza from Little Caesar's for our supper which tasted good.

Today is my day for watching College Football Games and I think I will have hot dogs to go with the games.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Winter Paradise

Monday we were off and going south at a slow pace.

Within a short time we were crossing the line and into Florida.
The first stop was at a new Pilot Flying J to fill up the tank on the motorhome. Then it was on down the road.
It was around 2:30 pm so we stopped at a rest area to have a sandwich and a soda, I also had a small bowl of ice cream.  Then I was outside cleaning the windshield that had bugs splattered on it.

By the looks of the amount of motorhome and trailers on the road going south there are going to be more people spending the winter in Florida.

We had two days to get to our park because we wanted to arrived at the first of the month to check in.
So the first night we stayed at a Walmart on Ocala the same place we stayed last year because it was behind a Bob Evans Restaurant and like last year we had the carry out breakfast meal for four at $19.99. We had enough for the next morning also with still a little left over.

Tuesday was a good traveling day with a stop at a Flying J for propane but they were working on the tank and meter so I couldn't get the tank filled.
I parked at the Walmart to stay the night like we did last year, then went into ask permission to stay the night and was No Overnight Parking Allowed that they had their policy about overnight parking.
Nancy said what will we do now and I said we will just go to the park and check in early, so here we are for the winter in Winter Paradise Resort, Florida for the winter.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.
