Birthday Today

Yeah thats me. Another year has come and gone and my birthday is today. Man where has all that time gone.
Yesterday was spent just being lazy. I guess doing all the packing and then the trip just wore us out. We did get out yesterday evening, we went down to the church to meet with Mark and Sherry for a church supper.
Taday we will go to Walmart and buy groceries and oil, filter for the motorhome. I need to change the oil and filter and also wash the motorhome while we are here. I usually wash it before I leave Florida, but with the water restriction I couldn't do it this time.

Beautiful Flowers

Well we finaly got on the road yesterday. Had to say goodbye to this large flower that is growing beside the house at the park.
I didn't take the interstate and I'm sure glad I didn't. We saw flowers growing in bunches along the roadway all along this and other back roads that we took. We saw several Dairy Farms and the cattle were out grazing in the large green fields.
We are in Valdosta,Georgia now visiting our grandson and his family and also our daughter and Mark her husband. We don't know how long we will be here.

Not Ready Yet

Yesterday was going to church, then having dinner out with our friends.
After we got back home we spent a little time putting some can goods and Nancy put the clean sheets back on the bed. The fresh washed rugs are back down on the floor.
Nancy is going to get her hair cut, then work on getting the motorhome a little more ready.
Maybe we will be ready to leave tomorrow.

We cleaned again yesterday. Nancy cleaned the frig out and now it looks as good as new. She also washed the scatter rugs. I cleaned the walls and all the wood work. Also all the windows inside and out. We still have a bit to do. I've got to decide what tools I'm going to take and then theres the clothes.food and I don't know what else it will be. I know we will forget something.

Converter/Charger

Hot dog and 'O' boy, the problem I was having with the motorhome converter/charger was repaired yesterday. I had a tough one on that I did indeed. I got to thinking about it and all of a sudden I realized that when I pressed the store/run button the I didn't hear a click as I had before. So I traced the wiring down to the relay and there is was. Two wires had pulled loose. Hooked them up and "whamo" it is now working. Nancy and I did some cleaning on the inside of the motorhome and we still have more to do before we can leave.

2 New Batteries

Well I did have to have 2 new batteries. When I put them on my chargers they wouldn't take a charge,it threw up the code that says they had a bad cell. I took them in to Walmart yesterday and told them the batteries were dead. They said we will check them and let me know. After 4 hours I went back and they said you have bad batteries,"I said yes I know thats the reason I brought them in". Well the good news is they were still under warranty and now I have 2 new batteries at no charge to me. I couldn't find out why my converter/charger on the motorhome isn't working so that will have to wait at a later date.
I sure hope I don't find anything else messed up.

More Things

More things keep coming up. Yesterday I did get the 4 new tires on the motorhome. Monday I had to get a new starting battery and now I think I will have to buy a new maybe 2 new house batteries. Also the onboard charger/converter isn't working so that has to be fixed before we can take off for the summer. It seems as though everything is hitting at one time. I've always heard its harder letting a motorhome sit then it is using it fulltime. I'm begining to believe it.

Walking

Saw this big boy out sunning himself as we were out walking down at the park yesterday.
Also got me a haircut. I was going to start up the motorhome but had no power so I tried charging the battery but it wouldn't charge. Had to go buy one and put it in. Also checked on 4 tires for the rear of the motorhome, they are suppose to be in today. Have to start getting things ready to take off.

Almost Time

The weekend was about the same. We went to church sunday then out for dinner.
Most of yesterday was spent inside because we had much needed rain almost all day long.
The time is about upon us to get the old motorhome ready to clean on and then loading up for our summer adventures. So between the little park model and the motorhome moving things in and out will take us at least a week. We never get in a hurry anymore.

Great Beach Day

Yesterday was nice so we went to the beach down at Honeymoon State Part.
As we walked by a trash can I noticed garbage all over the ground and I thought some people were awful messy throwing their trash on the ground. But then I saw this crow was the varmit that had made the mess. It was checking all the bags in the can and as it did it through the stuff on the ground.
There were people all up
and down the beach playing in the water. Some we just lying on the beach and soaking up the sun.

A few didn't want very much sun so they were under the large beach umbrellas.
We had a very nice day.

Wall Springs Park

Yesterday we went down to Wall Springs Park

Shown here is where the spring comes up out of the ground and as with other springs all over the country this one also was suppose to have a cure for whatever was hurting you. Back in the 40's this was a popular spot for the people coming from the north to bath in the springs, they had a large hotel here that is long gone except for the foundation.
Here a duck and her ducklings enjoying the fresh cool spring water.

There were a lot of fish in here, but fishing is not allowed.

Around the gulf coast waters are dead trees still standing after years of the winds blowing and beating on them.

Here Nancy is waiting on me so we can climb the stairs to the top of the tower. It was a nice view of the gulf from the top of the tower.
Just another one of many nice days.

What else do we see

Walking yesterday we saw this pine tree with large 6" pine cones. Besides looking at the different birds and other animals we like to look at trees. Trees are a subject of their own, with their shapes. Some are straight as an arrow with few limbs while others have limbs that look like arms stretching out to crab you. The trees are dressed in leaves of different shapes and color.
If you look beyond the obvious you can see many things.

What a Day

Man O what a way to start a day. It started out yesterday morning around 4:00 am with a crash of thunder that sounded like an airplane crashing. Then the hard rain and strong winds. It lasted til almost noon time. What we didn't know until we saw it on the news is that a couple of tornados had touched down close to us with winds of 92 miles per hour. It uprooted trees and tore up a couple of dozen houses. They were too close for us. Luckly no one got hurt. Even an suv was over turned. Tomorrow is suppose to be back normal with sun shine and 80 degree temp.

Walking and Photos

Yesterday was walking down at the park and taking pictures.

I was on a bridge over the water feeding the fish and this heron came along. It tried several times to catch the fish that was feeding on the bread. After it missed getting the fish it gave up and started eating the bread.
Here the woodpecker is trying to find some insects. It was another hot sunny day.

Happy Easter

First, let me wish you a very Happy Easter and that you really know its not all about rabbits and easter eggs.
Yesterday was a nice hot lazy day. We went walking in the James Grey Preserve.
In the picture above if you look between the brances you can see some people in a boat enjoing a day on the river.

Even this duck was paddling up the river looking from side to side. Man it is great to get out and see the animals in the wild.

Same 'O'

Yesterday the weather was nice and today is more of the same. This morning the temp was 63.
Yesterday we did a little walking out in the J B Starkey Park, nothing unusual to see. The same turtles and armadillos. We did hear a woodpecker or 2 but did not see those.
Nancy fixed one of her great roast beef with vegetables and of course I had to pig out.
Nothing is on the list of to do things today so we will again just let it happen.
We will be leaving here in a few weeks and I have a few things I would like to do before we leave.

Cold Weather

Well it may not seem cold to you,but for us here in Florida the last few days have been very cool.
Monday and yesterday it was very windy and the temp around 66° made it feel cold. I know we have became spoiled for the warm temps for winter time.
This morning the temp was 46° and that is cold for this time of year. The weather man promises us it will be warming up. We have water restrictions here in New Port Richey because the water levels are so low. Now how can a state that is surrounded on 3 sides by water be in a drought?
It is a different situation in Valdosta,Georgia a few hundred miles north of us. Our daughter Sherry say they are having floods in the city because of all the rain.

Come and Gone

Saturday we went to the flea market and Rachel thought that was something else. She says they don't have a flea market close to Lexington. She bought her a few things and had a good time looking around at the different "stuff".
I woke up early yesterday morning to go down to the Tampa Port to get Richard,Vicki and Rebekah. They said they had a great time on their cruise. They stayed a visited around an hour and then headed north for home. We enjoyed having Rachel with us for the week.

Off to the Mall

Yesterday was one of those slow kind of days. Rachel still has the sun burn that is slowing her down, so we went to the mall where it was a little cooler. We walked around and Rachel did some shopping. We saw our friends Lee and Hazel in the food court,so we stopped and chatted with them for a while. After we got tired of the mall it was about time to eat. We decided to go down to Christo's for dinner. The Christo's meal was good as usual.
After we got back to the house we watched the tv and got caught up on the computer.
We had a very windy and rainy storm early this morning. It did no damage but it sure did sound good listening to it.

Beach Day

Yesterday was a nice sunny day so we decided to go to the beach.
We went down to Dunedin and took the causeway over to Honeymoon Island State Park.
This is the bridge over to the Park. With a nice hot day like this there was a huge crowd. The wind was blowing pretty good and that made for good waves. The water is getting warm and wading init is nice. There were people out in the water having a good time. With the closing of the Fred Howard Park causeway for repair I would say ths will be a crowded place this summer.
Oh yeah we got a little to much sun.

Walking in the Park

Yesterday the three of us went walking in the John Chesnut Park. We only walked one of the trails because it was too hot for us to walk any more.
We did get to see a deer and the usual number of birds. Today we will try to go to the beach if it doesn't rain.
