59 Years

Wow 59 years, today is our anniversary and it is hard to believe that Nancy and I have been married that long.
although we have been happy that long(not without some disagreements at times)we would tell a couple not to get married that young.
Our daughter Sherry did arrived yesterday and we were happy to see her. Nancy and Sherry will be going out today to the Laundromat to do the laundry while I stay home taking it easy watching  a few basketball or football games.
I went to see my family doctor yesterday for a follow up and everything looks normal following a heart attack, he did give me a prescription for nitro tablets just incase I would experience some pain. That's what the doctor did after my first heart attack but I never had to take any of the pills. My blood pressure was the lowest I have seen it at 102/68 so that explains why I was feeling so tired.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Hanging in there

Today makes a week that I had my second stent put in each one of them after a heart attack.  I guess I'm doing ok but its like I'm pulling a weight as I'm walking around. It will just take time before I'm back to any shape.
I took Nancy yesterday to get her blood work and she will see her kidney doctor next week to find out how she is doing. Our daughter Sherry will be here today to take care of us old folks. We tried to tell her we were ok but she insisted on coming anyway.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Christmas meal

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and everything went as planned.  I know if there were some of the little ones around that the excited they had opening their present was contagious and you were as excited.
Nancy outdid herself in the meal we had, she baked a ham, deviled eggs, coleslaw, green beans baked potato, it was a plate full.

Here are the old folks enjoying a quiet meal together. I have to say it was a fine meal.
It will take time for me to mend from the heart attack, they say about eight weeks so I will have to postpone some of the things that I had planned on doing in the next few weeks.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Merry Christmas

A very Merry Christmas to all of my readers.  As for Nancy and I haven't had a very pleasant time leading up to Christmas.
Nancy having a reaction to the flu shot and me Tuesday  evening having my second heart attack.  It turns out once again 100 percent blockage and cleaning another out. Everything went well I'm back home  and will go through the healing process.  That's all for now it seems like I'm having a rough time typing.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Doctor appointments

Poor Nancy as if she doesn't have enough problems. Friday the day after we took our flu and pneumonia shots she comes down with the flu symptoms, coughing sneezing and aching all over. So when we went to the doctor yesterday he gave her a shot for that and a prescription for some antibiotics. I also got a seven day tab for my aching shoulder. Other than all that we are in good shape. Nancy said she was feeling some what better today.
We have not had our Christmas shopping even started yet but neither of us want anything so no problem there. I'm sure we will be buying a few things for ourselves.
The weather all this week is going to be 82*-84* so now snow for sure but that's why we are here in sunny Florida.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Long day.

Yesterday was a long day for us one thing is that we always get a late start because Nancy with all the pain and exhaustion she has to sit a couple of times to rest while she gets ready.
Nancy has run out of her pain medication so we went to the doctors to see if it would be possible for her to get a prescription for a few pills to last until our appoint the 30 of this month. No such luck but the receptionist did move our appointment up to Monday.
After that we went to Walgreens to get our flu and pneumonia shots and that took more time than it normally does. From that we went down to Safety Harbor to the 1st Quality sausage House for some Hungarian meats and a nut roll. Each time I eat these things it takes me back many years when I was a young kid.
From there it was to the Central Park Restaurant to have something to eat. Then a trip to where else but Walmart you know you have to go to Walmart everytime you get out.
We got back around 6:30 both of us feeling the effects of the day.
This morning it is much cooler with rain.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Slow week

So far this week the big thing that Nancy and I have done is go to the Laundromat. We have not been to the store all week and I guess we had better go or both of us might start losing some weight.
There are a few lights up in the small park where we are but the park itself doesn't put up any Christmas lights.
The light that people put up on their site look nice.
Santa came thru the park the other day riding on top of a car.
Mickey and Snoopy looks like they hitched a ride in the back. Some people really get in the mood for Christmas which is good.
I finally finished up the shower base last week by gluing tile on the new boards. Sometimes it get a little difficult doing things when you are on the move and have to wait until you are settled in for a while. There are still a few more projects I want to do while we are here in the park for the winter.
The Fantastic Fan that I installed a week or so is working out to be better than we expected. We have not run our airconditioner hardly at all. Its really nice to turn on the  Fantastic fan open a window and feel the breeze flow thru.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Alittle walking

Nancy felt like she wanted to do a little walking so when she is in the mood I'm ready to go.  Even though she feels like walking she tired out quick.
We were at the Port Richey river front Park where you can look out over the bay.
The casino shuttle taking people out on the gulf to the casino ship.
We were only a short time but it was nice and sunny so a good day to be out.  Nancy just stays too tired to do much of anything but with her bad spine and the bad kidneys she does pretty good.

Thanks for stopping by and have a good day.

Fan project finished

Yesterday was a good work day for me. First I was waiting on the Fantastic fan with reversible in and out flow 3 speeds with a thermostat. It was delivered at 12:30 so I got started on it right away. I had to take out the old vent and clean up all the caulking before installing the fan. After setting it in place with four screws to hold it steady I came off the motorhome to wire it up to see how everything looked and sounded. Then back on the roof to finish putting all the screws in and going around it with self-leveling dicor. Then back off into the motorhome to check it out.
There she is purring away like a big ole cat, now ain't that pretty. Nancy has been wanting the fantastic fan for a spell now and so she is happy. We do a fair amount of boondocking and parking overnight without electrical hookups so this is going to help a bunch. The high speed takes only 3 amps so with our 325 watts of solar and a good battery bank it will not be a problem running it.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Things to do

Even though we are in the rv park we are still not settled in yet with going to the Laundromat doing the clothes and Nancy going to see her kidney doctor. She told the doctor that the pain medication that she has been taking does not relieve the pain very much. He prescribe her something different to see if it will help her.
I did get up to the roadside market on route 52 and couldn't believe the great prices they had on the fruit and vegetables. The tomatoes are great tasting and taste like they were just picked off the vine.
We are still trying to get use to the park we are in and I imagine it will take a while after being in the other park for around ten years.  After all nothing stays the same things keep changing.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Florida for the winter

We arrived at Tropic Breeze RV Park around 2:00 it took a while to get checked in as they couldn't find the papers where I had a reservation. But they did get a hold of someone that assured them I had a reservation and a deposit for a site.  Let me start out by saying this is an old park that does not have a swimming pool which is fine with us as we very seldom use a pool. The sites are close like when you let out the slide it comes even with the next site but I knew it wasn't a resort by looking at the photos online. I have to say that the people that I have met are very friendly.  This is what they call a mobile home/rv park so there are a lot of permanent residents. The rv's that are here for the winter range from large diesels to the van type.
It looks like the park will serve our purpose for this winter.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

To the winter park

Today is the day we move on to Port Richey and to Tropic Breeze RV Park.  It will be a little strange being at a different park this year after spending around ten years at Orchid Lake first in the motorhome and then in our park model. This will be the first year in seven that we will be spending winter time in the motorhome, but come springtime it will be a lot easier getting ready to leave as we will not have to take things from the park model to the motorhome. Anything to make it easy when you start to put on a few years in life. Just like clothes or shoes no more going in style now it is dressing for comfort.
We will be taking our time(not unusual)getting ready since its only a short distance from Bushnell to Port Richey.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Great Thanksgiving day

Thursday we did go over to Jeremy's for a Thanksgiving dinner.
We passed a large cabbage patch that was on both sides of the road.
Some of the large dinner.

Andy and Hannah waiting to dig in.
Can you see Hook one of the two boxers Jeremy and Allison have.
That's Moses waiting with Hook for some turkey. Everyone likes turkey.
We had a very nice day with Jeremy, Allison, Andy and Hannah on this Thanksgiving day and so glad we were able to share it with them. After eating the dinner as everyone seems to do is getting sleepy after a time we said our goodbyes until the next time we left and came home.

Friday we were on the road again and eventually at the Breezy Oaks RV Park for a few days and then it is on to Port Richey where we will spend the winter.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Be Thankful

First off I would like to wish all of you a Happy Thanksgiving.
Monday we took our time getting ready(like that is unusual)disconnecting the electric, pupping in the slides. Then we had a sandwich with Nick and Joann after that we were on our way.
But with a stop at Krogers to fuel up with gas at 1.72.9 and .03 off with the Kroger card.
We took I-75 south to Hahira to the Cains Creekside RV Park which takes the PassPort America Card.
We had dinner with Jeremy, Allison, Hannah and Andy at the Texas Roadhouse.
Then again yesterday again at the Smok'n Pig for some BBQ chicken and pork.
The food at these places was good but not as good as the visit with the family.
View out our windshield of the geese on the lake at Cains Campground.
Couple of fixer uppers that we saw along the way.
The Christmas decorations are up in Hahira.
Today we will have Thanksgiving dinner with Jeremy and his family.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Tomorrow we will be making our way down to Valdosta to have Thanksgiving with our grandson Jeremy and his wife Allison. Nick and Joan will be traveling up to West Virginia to have Thanksgiving with her sisters.
Our time on the road this season is slowly winding down.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Warner Robins, Georgia

We left Lake Sinclair Wednesday as planned it didn't take as long to get ready to shove off because I was able to hook the car up behind the motorhome Tuesday evening.
Of course the weather was rain on our way down to Warner Robins.  I would like to say it was a good trip but when I got within 20 miles of my brother Nicks house I sneezed  and all of a sudden my nose started bleeding I mean really in a steady stream. I keep clean rags beside my drivers seat so I grabbed one and held it up to my nose.  Well I had filled three rags before it finally stopped all the time I was still driving down the road Nancy telling me to I had better stop and take care of myself. I use to have nose bleeds when I was younger years ago but this is the first time this has happened in years. I'm a loud sneezer so maybe I ruptured a small vessel in the nose.
Wednesday night we had a hard rain(will it ever stop). Yesterday was a very nice day with the temp close to 70 degrees(yeah). Nick and I were out running around all day.  I bought a new toilet for the motorhome not because our old one broke but because it was old and looking kind of shabby. After getting back home I installed the new in short time. Nick and I will be running around today again since the weather is going to be nice.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Real cold

Not to much is happening with us. We had to go into Milledgeville to get our prescriptions refilled for our medicines and then a few other times for some groceries.
We like the fall weather but this is ridiculous we have woke up the last two mornings with the temp setting at 32 degrees that's not fall that's right down winter time. That cold and frost on the car.
Yes it is time to head on south where I see on the weather map 80 degree temps. But not until we make a couple more visits.  We will leave here Wednesday.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Thank you Veterans

Yes I want to thank you for your service to your country and its people. May you live in peace and comfort.
It rained all night Saturday and Sunday it was cold and raining as we got ready for the road. It was so cold and damp with the temp 52 degrees that we had the heater on the heater on all the way to Lake Sinclair. The good thing was that we got the site that always seems to be open and waiting for us.
There was a break in the rain yesterday so I walked down to the swimming beach and boat dock. These three guys were fishing and they caught a couple of catfish.  The lake is up a bit but not very much.
This guy is filleting the fish on the spot, he sure had a sharp knife that went through the fish like butter.
It looks as though they pulled the sand back on the beach so it would not be consumed by the lake.
We will be here a week or so as we usually do when we stop here. We have been stopping here coming and going for a number of years.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.  Don't forget to thank a vet.

Onward south

Today is the day that we make our move to head farther on south.  After 11 days we are ready to drive on. We will go to Lake Sinclair our regular stop on the way south we enjoy the area there and have been going there for quite a few years. It is raining this morning so hooking up will be a little rough. I've never started from this area going to Lake Sinclair so I'll just let the old GPS lead me, no telling where I will end up going but when I do this it is always an adventure.

Thaks for stopping by and have a great day.

Large waves sound sleep

I always like to take a different route even when we stay in one place for a while.
This was the case the other day when we went into town. We saw this sign along the way.
So I pulled into the parking lot and in we went. This was the first time in the Wife Saver Restaurant there are several in the Augusta area. You order your food and pay for it then when it is ready they call your number you go and get it. Nancy ordered the four piece chicken strips with green beans, cole slaw and a drink for $9.48 I was going to order the same thing then noticed they had the specials. So I ordered a three piece chicken with fries and the included drink for $5.99 so Nancy paid $4.49 extra for one side item and the thing is when I got my order it had four pieces of chicken.
We are still having the winds night and day and it is kicking the water up on the lake pretty good.
The temps are staying the same night and day at 66 degrees so we are able to open the window above our heads and go to sleep listening to the sound of waves hitting the shore line.
It is not suppose to rain today so that will be a nice change.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Rain rain and more rain

After getting up to mornings like this and three days staying inside we got out and went to Walmart for groceries. But first we had lunch at the Monterey Mexican Restaurant. This was the second time eating here the food is very good and the prices are right.
When we arrived at the Walmart I got our umbrella and in we went. we stayed in around an hour getting checked out headed for the exit and saw it was raining harder than ever. I went to get the car to pull it up close so Nancy wouldn't have to walk so far in the down pour. She got in the car while I started loading the groceries. Before I finished a true gentleman came over and was holding his umbrella over me. That was very kind of him I thanked him and the thing was that he had left his wife at the exit door with their groceries while he held his umbrella so I wouldn't get wet.
So folks there are still some good people in this world, don't give up on people.
Getting up to days like this we just have to brave the weather and get out. After all how much tv can a fella stand.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

J. Strom Thurmond Lake

We made the short trip Wednesday and got settled in on our site by the J. Strom Thurmond Lake in the Petersburg Campground. This is the largest campground on this lake and with 93 sites it is the only one to stay open year round.
There is a beach area out from our site where we can set or take a walk along the water, the water is nice and clear. On the weekend this campground stays full and you have to make a reservation which we did because we will be here for ten days.

A small beach across the water.
A husband and wife out early kayaking with their dogs.

The dog was watching me as they were passing by. I guess to make sure I was not going to get to close to them.
I think we will like this place for the time we will spend here. We drove down in the town of Evans and they have a large number of restaurants, Super Walmart, Kroger and a few more grocery stores. The cost of gas at the Kroger with the card is $1.80 a gallon for the regular.

Thanks for stoppig by and have a great day.

Last day here

This is why we travel the back roads and stay in the National Forest Campgrounds.  We get in the car and make a 50 mile circle(not all in the same day)to look at the scenery and all the different things.
Sometimes a photo may look better if it is in black and white.
There's a for sale sign on the building I don't know if it was for the washing machine or the building with everything included. Might make a good deal on the whole thing.
A fixer upper house not much but a lot of nice land.
We have had a good time here and in the area of Parsons Mountain Lake in the Sumter National Forest just south of Abbeville, South Carolina but it is time for us to move on.  Tomorrow we will be going to Petersburg Corp of Engineers Campground on the shore of J. Strom Thurmond Lake on the Georgia side. This campground is 12 miles north of Evans. We went down to look the area over some and the town has a bit of everything you would need.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Checking things out

We are enjoying our time at this National Park.
The small lake is good for fishing.

The leaves with their fall colors just doubles the pleasure reflecting in the mirror like water of the lake.
The last few days we have been checking the National Forests and the Corp of Engineers campgrounds around Thurmond Lake but they are closed for the season. So I got on the computer and looked at the ones in Georgia most of those were closed also but one was open. So today we are going to check it out. That will take up our day as it is 50 miles from where we are. No problem though because we always get out and see what is around us.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

In the woods again

We got on the road around 12:38 Tuesday and drove as far as Columbia. After having dinner at a Cracker Barrel I talked with the manager and ask him if it would be alright to spend the night in their parking lot he said it would. After getting ready and spending some time in a Walmart we were on our way down I-20 to exit 58.
The rest of the day was on the two lane roads where I could see something like this soy bean field beside trucks and rushing traffic.
Like this old gas station where they would come out and fill your gas tank for you and if something was wrong with your car the guy would have the part and could fix it for you.  Man those were the good old days.

We did get to a campground at the Parsons Mountain Lake Recreation area.
We got a site fairly level which was good considering most were not and for tents. There is no electric hookup but that is ok with the generator and the solar panel we are fine. There is a couple of water spigots around the campground also a shower and a dump station.
We have no phone service here and our wifi hotspot is come and go.  But that fine I like it in the woods.

Thanks for stopping by and have a good day.
