Church and Flea Market

We went to church in Crum,WV where Don is the pastor. On the way back we had to take a short detour around this accident. We stopped and had dinner at the Golden Corral in Huntington. We all left with the feeling we over did it on our eating. After getting back home Don,Jackie and I went down to the flea market, but we couldn't find anything we wanted to buy. After getting back from the flea market and resting up a little bit it was visiting time again. We had a good time talking and laughing together.
Nancy and I are so glad we can spend extended visits with all the family.
We were going to leave tomorrow but Callie called and said if we would be here wednesday she would come from Princeton to spend the day. N000 problem,we have no plans and no schedule,so now we will be leaving thursday.

Rain

It rained off and on all night. It is a steady rain now around noon today. So looks like there won't be much going on today. A good day for sitting, visiting and talking. Hopefully later on the rain will slow down enough to get out and go somewhere.

Something needs attention

Well nothing exciting was happening today. Just a sitting around visiting day.
I did go to Lowes to get a board to use as a brace for the fresh water tank.
The plastic holding tank has been flexing and boke a board loose that has a door attached to it. The board will be on the side of the tank so when its full of fresh water it won't flex. It makes little difference if you're in a house or motorhome something always needs repairing.

Kentucky

We did get to Kentucky and down to Jackie's.
Well we got to her house after we went through Morehead and these two rock cliffs. It must have been quite a chore drilling and blasting through the rock.
We had a very nice trip there and back.

Still Hanging Around

This is the wiew of the West Virginia Capital in Charleston. The dome is painted gold.
Today was much the same as the last couple of days. Nancy and I did go to Walmart and I finally got the car washed which was long over due.
Tomorrow we are going to get Nancys sister (Jackie) and bring her over for a few days. The drive is a couple of hours one way so that will take up the day.

Goodbyes and Hello's

Well after a very nice and pleasant stay at Callie's we said our goodbyes. We had a very wonderful time thank you. We got on I-77 which is also the WV Turnpike. With the toll booths at three locations along the way it does cost quite a bit with a motorhome pulling a car. I sure hope they use some of that money to work on the roads. I don't recommend it for anyone to drive on. What do they do with the monies they get from the toll, casino's and the lottery?? We arrived at Peach and Don's around 2:30 and set up everything. I don't know how long we will stay here.
I heard our good friend Richard Barker was in the hospital so I called and talked to him for a while. It was good to hear his voice. Get well soon Dick.

Steak Again

Today was a repeat of yesterday. We went to the Texas Steakhouse with Callie and Jim again today. It wasn't the same one but the food was good here also.
They sure serve a good steak. We did not look at motorhome today either. We had a good time visiting and talking with Callie and Jim they are two very nice people.

Motorhome Looking

Nancy and I went with Callie and Jim today. Jim was wanting to look at the motorhomes down in Blacksburg,Virginia. We got started around 12:45pm so we stopped at the Texas Steakhouse first for a real good steak dinner. We kicked a few tires but they didn't have very many motorhomes on the sales lot where we were. Jim saw a few that he talked to the salesman about.
All in all though we had a real nice day.

Yeah,I found a barbershop

Yes I did. Do you know how hard it is to find a real barbershop? I've been looking in a bunch of places where we have been and every place has a hair stylist, but the barbershops are few and far between. So now I don't have to worry about that for a while.
Nancy and I went to the Mercer Mall to walk some today also. It has been long over due for our walking. Also Callie had some good delicious spaghetti complete with a salad and garlic bread.

A Little Everything

Last night was a good peaceful night. It was cool and good sleeping weather with the window over our heads open and letting the cool breeze in.
Today Callie bought a couple of "Little Caesar's Hot and Ready Pizzas" which are always good.
A little of everything was the weather today, sun shine and rain alternating most of the day. Still it was a good day visiting.

We are at Callie's

We had a good night at the Walmart parking lot. There were 5 other camping units there. It was raining so as usual we took our time getting ready. After eating breakfast, which was biscuits a jam,we got ready. We went back to the Travel Plaza at the Tamarack to dump the tanks and fill with fresh water. It was around 2:30 so we stopped at the Cracker Barrel to eat dinner. We had rain all the way on our drive. We got to Callie's around 4:30 and will stay here until monday.

No Copperheads for me

We had a nice pieceful night at the Tamarack parking spot. We got ready and drove over to Walmarts. After parking I unhooked the car and off we go to a place called Army Camp. This is a free primitive campground which is part of the National Park Service.
It was a nice little campground by the Gauley River. It was a very narrow road, which was gravel for a mile. After talking to one of the men that works there and listen to him tell about the copperhead snakes being bad this year. He said a couple of the campers and a couple of the workers were bitten this year we decided that we would not stay here.

After looking at the campground I drove down to see what the place with the name Prince looked like. I was just a few houses and this train station. I thought the station was something left over from yesteryear, but upon checking the train still stops here 3 times a week to pick up and drop of passengers.
After we got back to the motorhome it was getting late so we decided to stay the night here.

Traveling

Well after a week of wifi and no wifi we are on the road again.
We had a wonderful visit with Dee and Amanda and the little one and family.
We left Copperhead Campground around noon and drove all the way to Beckley. We are spending the night at the Tamarack parking space. It was a up and down the mountain highways.

Cook-out

Amanda,Dee and their families came over yesterday for a cook-out. Nancy had a large pot of pintos, fried potatoes, cole slaw and corn bread. I grilled twice as many pork chops then we needed but they were good and everyone had more than enough. We kind of over did it eating because it was so delicious. We later had a strawberry cake for dessert.
Of course the little ones played more than they ate. They had a ball and really enjoyed their selves in the big field of the campground.
We played a game of scrabble later and Nancy won the game.
It was a very nice and good day.

Finally back online

WOW,its been a while since I've posted. The reason is the wifi here is hit and miss and mostly miss and I can't get a cell phone signal so without those I can't post. Well not much to post about anyway. We are still enjoying our grandcildren and great grandchildren very much. Dee and her two children came out and spent the night wednesday. The two like to visit in our motorhome. Oh,Hunter has a new name for his Nanny. Since visiting this time he has been calling her "Old Granny".

This is part of the campground. It is a large spacious campground.

Great Visit

Here Nancy is listening to the grand-daughters talking. We have been visiting them and their families.
Nancy again with the great grand-daughters. You know we think they are the sweetest. We are really enjoying the time that we have with all of them.

Camp Copperhead

We had a very good quite night last night. I had a good wifi connection provided by Buffalo Wing. It is set up by Harbor-Link. They are providing free wifi at Buffalo Wings, some BP stations and are even on the transit bus system in Cinncinnati,Ohio. They have 650 of these in 43 states so far.

The West Virginia State Penitentiary was only a couple of blocks so we drove by and stopped this morning. Of course the Penitentiary closed up in 1995 so we were safe. I've heard of this place all my life and was glad to see it.
What is amazing is the Penitentiary is located right in the residential area. It is a huge structure. I had to stitch 8 photos to get it all in one picture. You can click on it to get a larger picture.
We are here in Camp Copperhead for the next week visiting our granddaugters and their family. We have no cell phone service and limited wifi.
Hey Verizon I found another dead zone.

9:30 am

We are still here at the Walmart. We will leave when Nancy gets ready and I've cleaned some on the motorhome.
We didn't have much sleep last night. They wanted me to park in the back where the trucks park. So with the truck noise. Also they are remodeling inside and we are parked where they are dumping the old shelves and drawers. I think the guys bringing the stuff out last wanted to see who could make the most noise throwing it in the dumpsters. Oh well it was a free place to park,so we can't complain to much.

5:30
Once again we didn't get an early start. Nancy got her hair cut before we really got on the road. We did get started but not really. Well first I went down a road about 8 miles and the road was closed so I had to double back and go another route. Now the next thing I loaded the GPS for a Walmart in Stuebunville, the dag-gone thing took me into a residential area,I ended up in a cul-de-sac. O'boy,I had to unhook the car back the motorhome, then rehook and get the heck out of there. Then looked for another Walmart and it wasn't where the GPS said it was.
Well anyway we are here in Moundsville at a Walmart for the night.
I guess thats life on the road.

Geese to Trucks

I thought I would post this morning since I have a free wifi connection from somewhere here on the FlyingJ parking lot. The title above says it for the last two mornings. When we stayed on the boat launch site at Lake Erie we were woke up by Canadian Geese honking and this morning it was trucks. Well this is a truck stop. Actually on the lake I think one of the geese was having a night long night mare. Every few minutes you could hear the "honk-honk". Still a pretty good nights sleep.

Wall mural in the town of Rock Creek.

Taking in the country side along the way.

Well we didn't go very far today. I just drove extra slow looking at the countryside and enjoying it. We also stopped in the small town of Rock Creek,Ohio to do the laundry, which took up some time.
We are at the Walmart in Salem,Ohio for the night and probably another slow day tomorrow.

Another Day Traveling

After waking up to a great sunrise,we had our breakfast, got ready and on the road again.
We traveled slow and stopped often to walk and look at the different stores along the way. We finally made it to and through Pennsylvania. Then into Ohio where we got our prescriptions filled at a Walmart.

Then it was to a FlyingJ for the night. Not a beautiful place as last night but not bad for a truck stop.
Tomorrow we will continue going south. How far? I don't know, don't ask, just wait and see.

Overnighting at boat launch

We left the campground around noon and drove through the corn fields. Stopped at a roadside market and bought some prune plums. I have never eaten any so naturally I had to try them. I'm glad I bought them, because they are so good and sweet.
We got to a boat launching site on Lake Erie, had our dinner. It was 6:00 pm. The Harbor Master was still on duty so I ask permission to stay the night. He said it would be ok and said it was nice of me to ask him.

The view out the front window was beautiful of the sunset this evening. The time now is 10:15 pm and the temperature is 62°. So we should have a good nights sleep.

Niagara Falls

We spent all day at Niagara Falls today. Here is one of the "Maid of the Mist" boats.

We had a very nice day.

Lockport,New York

We had a good night at the FlyingJ. It rained last night and still raining this morning.

We passed so many grape vineyards going through Pennslyvania and New York. I have never seen so many grapes vineyards. I saw more vineyards today then I've seen previously in all my life.

We stopped for lunch at a boat launch on Lake Erie. The view was breath taking. Awesome baby.
After a long day of driving in the rain we finaly made it to our destination.
We had dinner at Gordie Harper's Restaurant this evening. A very good restaurant.
Tomorrow we will go to see the Niagara Falls.

Saybrook Township,Ohio

After a pretty good night at the FlyingJ in Berkshire.

We left around 10:30am and pulled into the FlyingJ in Saybrook Township around 3:30pm to stay the night so we would have a short drive to our campground that we'll be staying to visit the Niagra Falls area. Its a good thing we got here early because they are having a big going on in the truck parking area. A truck show and some singing on stag. One guy who use to play with "Trick Pony" will be performing and they will be having othe acts. The photo above is on one of the trucks here.
Part of the crowd at 4:30pm and it doesn't start until 7:00pm

Here they are getting the hot dogs and burgers ready. The parking lot is full and the town trolley is bringing people in from other parking lots around town.
