Florida bound

I hope all of you had a good Thanksgiving and didn't over do it on your eating.

Nancy and I went to our grandson's house for our dinner where he did all of the cooking.
Here is the 22 pound turkey full of stuffing which was really good.

Here is part of the sides, I think there were eight or nine more sides on the other side of the kitchen.
Everyone had plenty to eat and also plenty left over to take home.

The house was decorated nice they even had a "Harvest Tree".

The town with the trees turning from green to red has a feeling of Christmas time.

Nancy and I will be heading down the road today getting closer to our winter destination.
We have had a nice summer visiting all the family even though Nancy is not doing very well.

So it will be seeing our doctors again for all of our check ups.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Happy Thanksgiving Day

First off I want to wish all of you a very peaceful Thanksgiving Day.

We got to Cain's Riverside RV Park and got a site facing the small pond the they have.

After many Thanksgiving days Nancy and I will be Here having dinner with our Grandson Jeremy and his family.

We haven't seen much of Jeremy since he has been working and gets home late in the evening so we thought it best for him to relax after work.

Most of all though Nancy has not been feeling well with a sore neck, compounded with a headache  that hasn't given up for a few weeks.
She can't take any strong headache medication, only what is prescribe for her because of her failing kidneys.

Thank you for stopping by and have a great day.

Very nice days.

After we left Nick and Joan we stopped to fill up with gas at the Kroger store.  Nick followed us down so I could use his Kroger card and it sure did help on the gas by given us a .80 cent a gallon off for the first $50.00.
Thank you again Nick.

After leaving the Kroger store it was soon that I was on I-75 and a short time later I got off because there was a lot off truck traffic.

And it seems as thou more and more of billboards.

Every now and then maybe something else like this old trailer that looked nice.

I got on a two lane road as soon as I could.  This was a relaxing drive as we passed some cotton fields.

Pecan trees in grass fields that looked so nice.

Of course the small towns that use to be the main roadway.

Murals on the buildings.

Once out of town many trees hanging over the roads making a beautiful canopy.

We woke up yesterday morning with a little fog hanging on.

It wasn't very long until the ducks were out and about.

I did a couple loads of clothes which took longer the normal, because the only one washer and one dryer here.

We did have a wonderful sunset that evening.

Even a better showing over the lake.

It was a very nice and thankful day.

Thank you for stopping by and have a great day.

Good Visiting

Nick and I have been out some looking at different things that we might need.

Even though we have been walking, I think it might not be enough walking for me.

Yeah, looking at the photo you know what I mean!   I think a little more walking like walking away from the table is what I need.

I've gained a couple of pounds since we have been visiting with my brother and family.

We have bought a few things that we needed at the Bargain Hunt Store.

Nancy and I have enjoyed our visit here as we always do.  But it will end because we will be leaving tomorrow to move on down the road.
Thank you Joan and Nick for a good visit and the food even though it put a little weight on me.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Its warmer

Yesterday was the day to move on down the road southward.  The rain had stopped but it was still gray skies and cold.  The ground was wet and muddy with the leaves sticking to my shoes as I was putting away the blocks that I had to use under the levelers to level up the motorhome.
After unhooking the electric line and hooking up the car we had to stop by the dump station the empty the tanks then we were on our way.

It sure felt good to behind the wheel of the motorhome chugging down the and even more so when we saw some sun shinning.  It was the first time we had seen the sun in a few days.  Also get was getting warmer as we were heading south, I even had to turn the heater down a few clicks.

After arriving at my brother  Nick's and Joan house, I disconnected the car and parked the motorhome in the usual spot in the yard, we went inside leaving the motorhome for later.

After visiting Nick and I went for pizza.  As Nancy and I always do when we visit Nick and Joan we over eat and even on that Joan serve us pie and ice cream.
After having our dessert and more visiting Nancy and I told them we had to go out and set up our motorhome because I had just parked it and we needed to do all the things it takes to make it useable and comfortable.
Once in the motorhome it was leveling it, clear the bed, let the slides out and all the rest of the things to put in place for setting still for a few days.
Then it was time for Nancy and I to relax after a long enjoyable day.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Still cold

Not a good morning to wake up to, being cold and wet.

Seeing the rain that lasted all night and more tree leaves it brought down.

It still did not diminish the color of the tree leaves.

Even though the rain knocked a lot of the leaves fell.

Still plenty of beautiful color around.

There are no swimmers around enjoying the beach.

And no one on the small pier fishing.

There is the forest waiting for the hunters on the campsites here.
The temperatures did not get out of the 49's today.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

A good day

After having a nice sunny day the weather has turned on us.  It started raining sometime during the night and is still raining this morning.

Some of you may be where you are having the start of an arctic blast.  So maybe some of the photos that I took while the sun was shining the other day will ease your closed in feeling.

Here is the gatehouse as you enter the Lake Sinclair Recreation Area.  The house has a place for a person or two to check people in and out, but all the years that we have been stopping here they have a self service pay station on the side of the building.

After entering the area the first road to the right is the dump station and also a fresh water spigot.

Then you come to loop A where there are 5 water and electric sites.

There are two loop C and D where the Camp Host is located.
This is really a nice campground with a swim beach and I can't understand why more people don't use this place.

Our ATT phone and WiFi work good here.

The firepits are nice and deep to sit around and watch the fire for a relaxing evening.

Or as so often as it often happens you may have to keep moving from the smoke.

Autumn in the forest is a good time for the photo buff as there are a thousand shots to be made.

We are fortunate enough to see there is plenty of colors still in these woods.

One tree with different angles and different times of the day is a good photo subject.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

We made it

We started the trip Friday by taking the two lane roads but didn't stay on them for very long.
I got on I-20 and boogied down the road for around 20 miles then it was back on a two lane road.

In less then an hour we were in the town of Eatonton and facing the grand old court house.
Nancy and I love to see these type of old court houses that have character rather than the new ones that are just another square building.

From Eatonton it was another twenty minutes until we were entering the Lake Sinclair National Campground in hopes that we would have one of the five electric sites open.
The first site was taken as well as the second  one , but when we saw the third one was open, there was a "whew" let out as was a smile on our face.

After pulling into the site, setting up I went to the pay station to pay our fee, we then ate our supper and settled in for a little relaxing.

When we woke up this morning it was 33 °.   Now wait a minute that is to cold for us two old people.

Thank you for stopping by and have a great day.

Moving day

The wind got a day of rest yesterday.

But is back again today.  Not like Wednesday though when it had a few white caps.  It sure was so rough that day the it looked like one of the Great Lakes.  So much so that there was not a single boater out trying to fight the waves.

Well today we will be leaving the large Thurmond Lake and moving onward south.  We are in hopes of getting an electric site at Sinclair Lake when we arrive.
The campground has only five electric sites and all the sites are first come first served.
So far in all our years stopping at Sinclair Lake we have had luck getting an electric site.
Most of the time though we have arrived in the middle of the week and not on a weekend.

I may take the back roads instead of the I-20 to avoid the crosswinds that the interstates have.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

A very nice day

Monday I had a couple loads of laundry to do so the kept me busy for over two hours.
The park here has a laundry room which is good that we don't have to go into town to a laundromat to do the laundry.
The down side though is that there is only one washer and one dryer so it takes a little longer.

Nancy was feeling better yesterday so it was off to Evans which takes twenty minutes to get to.

Our first stop was the Cracker Barrel for something to eat.
Nancy nor I wanted to eat a heavy meal so both of us had a breakfast meal which was good and not a stomach stuffer.

Our next stop was Walmart for a few groceries and things that Nancy needed.
By the time we got back home and put everything up we were ready to sit down and relax.

Well I don't know if I did very much relaxing or not watching a couple of college basketball games.
Sometimes I think I get tired while watching a game because I'm really into the game.

Here is a windmill at the entrance to one of the housing neighborhoods in the area.

And finally after three or four days of gray skies the sky cleared up last night for a beautiful sunset.

It was a nice day and very good to get back to watching the college basketball games.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Always something to pay for.

Where did the week go?

The weather has been really cool for the past week and cool here is like the winter time when we are in Florida.

The night time temperatures this past week have been in the 40's.

In order to stay for two weeks here we have had three different sites.  First was site #50 then this past week we made the move to site #54.  Then yesterday it was to the site we are on now site #49 until its time to leave the Petersburg Campground.

Nancy and I have different television to watch.  She has one that is in the bedroom where she can get comfortable in bed to watch, while the one I watch is in the front portion of the motorhome.
So Friday night when she turned her tv on it had sound, but no picture.  We tried everything we could by pushing the buttons on the remote but no luck.

So Saturday it was a trip to Walmart to get her a new tv.  The one that went blank was around four years old so I think it was about time and they don't repair them any more to be cost effect to have them repaired.
The old one was a 29 inch that cost $129.00 on sale.  The new I bought was a 32 inch at the price of
$99.00.  Nancy was satisfied with the larger screen and also the remote that was much more easy to see and read.

The refrigerator was well stocked when we arrived so we have not been to the store but we will have to go grocery shopping pretty soon.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.
