Visiting and not

After a good nights rest at the Walmart we took our time getting ready but we did make it to Cain's Creekside RV Park in Hahira where our grandson Jeremy and his family live.  This makes it nice because the RV Park is only a couple of miles from his house.

They all came over to visit us Friday and spend a little time with us. Not only because I've had a stomach virus for several days but because Jeremy also has it.
On Saturday we chose it better if we would both just stay at home because of the shape we were in.
I started feeling better after increasing my over the counter medication.

So today I was doing much better and we went over to visit with Jeremy and Family.  Jeremy is still feeling sick and I told him it will last for a week because it look like he has the same virus I've been dealing with.

Onan Generator and we are on our way

We left the rv park yesterday around 11:30 got to Homosassa a little before one so we had a little lunch before going to Riley Auto/Electric to have our Onan Generator installed that they had repaired.
Here is Ron's son finishing up the install.  He started it up and it was purring like a new born kitten.
I shut it off to check to see if it would start from the inside, yes it did.
I then paid Ron and thanked him on doing such good work and at a reasonable price and then we were on our way.

Not the way I like to start a trip with a lot of road construction. But it didn't last very long.

This is more like it straight roads not much traffic and 60 mph speed limit.

The roadway lined with nice different colored flowers a nice traveling day indeed.

In about two and a half hours we were in Live Oak so we had to stop at our favorite restaurant which is Kens Bar-B-Que.

My lucky day it was "Today's Special"  8oz New York Strip Steak with two sides for $9.80.

We all enjoyed our food and took our time eating it.  After we had finished we went a few more miles up the road to the Walmart where we spent the night.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

The Adventure Starts

Tuesday:
Nancy did have her day out with Sherry and I think Nancy enjoyed it.  She enjoyed it so much that she came home with several new outfits.  That is something that Nancy usually does not do.  I tell her to buy her something new and she says, "I will later".
After Nancy and Sherry got back home we went to Franks to have our supper.

They had a two guys playing music and singing while we were eating and they sounded very good.

Sherry enjoying her meal and music.

Today after we get ready we will first make a stop at Homosassa to have the generat installed in the motorhome then we will continue north.
I called yesterday to ask about the generator and the price of repairing it.  It is ready and he said it was running.  I asked the price and I was shocked at what he said.  I mean like surprised shock!
The price he quoted me of all he did was half the price I was expecting.
I know when I asked what he charged an hour was 1/3 less then other place was good.  But like I said he really went over the generator very well and added new parts.
So if you are in the Homosassa, Florida area and need help with anything concerning your rig be sure to get in touch with Ron at Riley Auto/Electric.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Working & running around

Yesterday after waiting for the guy to come and get the generator Sherry and I had some running around to do.
The first stop was to Dollar Tree to pick up a few items that we needed but for me it was a wasted trip.   Sherry did find a couple of things she needed so I guess it was not a wasted trip after all.

Next up was to Rural King to get several bags of my favorite potato chips and three cases of drinking water. I always get the drinking water there because they have the lowest price around.
Sherry has taken a liking to those chips also and bought her several bags plus other stuff.

Then we were off to Winn Dixie for a few groceries.

I decided to take what I call the scenic road back home so Sherry could take a few photos along the way.

While Sherry and I  were running around  Nancy was back home doing some extra cleaning getting the rig ready for our trip  on Thursday.
Never fear though today is Nancy's turn to run around with Sherry while I stay home doing the things I do to get ready to go.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Slowly getting things together

Since we are leaving out for the summer Thursday we are slowly getting things ready.
For the last two evenings I have scrubbed the motor home and it looks a better.  I used to wash it in a day but can't do it now I seem to get tired a lot and have to rest up.  Nancy keeps telling me I'm old and I'm starting to believe it.

With our 5500W Onan Generator being repaired and ready for installation on Thursday.

I decided to put the Champion Generator that we have been using for sale.   So yesterday morning I put it on Craigslist.  I guess it must have been the right time to sale it and I thought maybe  with the Hurricane season soon coming was the reason.
My phone and email was busy with people wanting to buy it.  So in a short time it was sold.
I will say the Champion served us well and is a very good generator.
I will be looking for a small generator to buy that I can carry in the outside bay.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

The good and not so good

The good news, after much searching I found a place that could take the generator out of the motorhome to do the needed repair on it.

The place is Riley Auto & Electric which is in Homosassa just north of us.
The only thing is they said to have it there by 8:00 in the morning this past Thursday.
I know how Nancy doesn't like to get up early plus Sherry is the same way I told them we could go up Wednesday evening and stay at the Walmart overnight and that would give them a little more sleep time.

Besides that would also see how the residential refrigerator would do with the solar and batteries.

But first back to the generator.
After removing the generator in a very short time.

The guy took it apart and just as I thought it was the field coil that was the reason the # 2 plug was not firing.  Don the owner had ordered the field coil when I called a few days earlier so they would have it back together and running in a short time.
Now the not so good news, the generator did not start up.
Up on checking the electric motor part of it would not turn.  My first thought was oh no the stator is shot and that it is expensive.  But on checking further it needs a new belt, the rubber couple that connects to the fly wheel was broke and there is a small oil leak that has to be repaired.
The parts will have to be ordered and I could get it Tuesday or Wednesday.  I told Ron that I would just wait until Thursday to get the generator since we would be leaving on that day and he said that would be fine.

Now, about the test of the residential refrigerator that is supplied by the 2000w pure sine wave invertor.
The news is very good, we were able to do what we had been doing with the rv refrigerator and could not tell any difference.
This was for only one day and a night so any longer might be another story.  But with all the testing that I have gone through already, I think this was a good choice in replacing the refrigerator.

So with an rv refrigerator costing in the neighborhood of $1200.00-$1400.00 and the residential costing $333.00 delivered, plus setting it in place and they took away the old refrigerator.
The addition of one 100w solar panel was a good choice indeed.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Solar Panel on the roof

Yesterday Nancy had to got to Lab Corp to have some blood drawn so her kidney doctor could see how her numbers were concerning her kidney function.  On the way back we stopped got some lunch to go for eating later.

After getting back home I changed clothes because I wanted to work a little on getting the 100w solar panel on the roof of the motorhome.  It was still a little windy but not so much that I could do some work and stay cool at the same time.  The plan was to get some of the work and then finish up on it today.  But once I got started and every thing went so good I was able to finish it all yesterday.

I just love it when a plan works out so well.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

To much rain and wind

Saturday,  it was rain and wind from 1:00 pm on through the night.  The wind gust of 60 mph that the weather forecaster said we were going to get didn't happen and we were glad of that.  The wind stayed in the range of 20-25 mph.
I was glad that I had gotten out early in the morning and rolled the patio awning up because there was a little wind at that time and I didn't want to get caught with a strong wind trying to handle a patio awning.

Sunday, it was rain and wind off and on through out the day so it was another stay inside day.
We spent the day on the computers and watching television.

Last night the wind gust picked up enough strength to rock the motorhome all night long.  It didn't bother Nancy and myself but for our daughter Sherry it was a different situation.
She didn't sleep very well because since she lives in a stationary house she is not used to a house rocking in the wind.

I today scheduled to put the 100w solar panel on the roof but with the wind going to last all day long I had to scrub that.
I didn't want to be on top of the motorhome trying to handle the solar panel while it would be acting like a sail in the wind.   I'm sure I can find something else to do.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

John Chesnut Park

Yesterday we went down to John Chesnut Park.  This is the first time we have been back to the park in several years and it was good to be back because this is one of our favorite parks.

When we got on the bridge to go over to the picnic area we almost always see an alligator and yesterday was no exception.  We saw this medium size alligator.

also this small one of two that were in this location at the bridge.

Of course there are squirrels hanging around waiting to be fed.  There are signs up that say to not feed the animals but people always feed the squirrels.

We walked out on the pier to watch the boaters as they were going up and down Tarpon Lake enjoying the sunshine and the cool breeze of the lake.

Some yellow flowers were in bloom on the on the small trees.

A couple of white ibis digging in the sand.

One of a couple of dear lying on the ground in the shade trying to keep cool.

The white egret came flying in to see what was going on.

The small alligator came out of the water to get in the sun for a while.

After enjoying our time at the park and glad we saw some of the wildlife we stopped in at the Steak and Shake Restaurant to have burger and fries along with a cold coke that really hit the right spot.

This really felt mighty good and was the second time this week that we were able to get out and walk.
The old bones were sore this morning as we got out of bed.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Finished with therapy

Tuesday:

Finally finished with the therapy but I have to admit I kind of enjoyed it.  I really need to keep doing it or some kind of a regular exercise.

When I left the therapy session I stop at the Winn Dixie store to get a few groceries that we needed.

After I got back home Nancy and Sherry were ready to go because I told them we would go out to eat after my therapy.
WE went to Martello's Restaurant and the three of us had the Calzone which was good but not the best that we have had at other places.

With the rain stopping and turning into a nice cool day for the evening we took Sherry out to see the Crews Lake Park.
Sherry likes to take photos more than I do so I knew she would like this Park.

With all the hanging moss and trees bent in all shapes and sizes.

The walk way leading out to the pier over the lake.

It was so good to see Nancy out and enjoy looking at the lake and park.  Most of the time she doesn't feel like getting out.
when we first came to this area there was no water in the lake for a few years but slowly it filled up again.

The lake was full of lily pads and the flowers were bloomed out all over the lake.  It was just beautiful standing there and looking out over the lake.
It was a very nice day.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Raining and muggy

The weather is still rain each day with wind so I still have the patio awning rolled up.  We lost one awning years ago due to the wind and I'm trying not to lose another one.

I did buy a length of aluminum angle to make the feet for the 100w solar panel that I bought from Amazon a week ago. Yesterday I was sawing the angle for the feet.   I was going to use this panel to put on the ground when we are parked in the forest in the shade.  But then I got to thinking how much trouble it would be to carry it in the motorhome and move it in and out.  So with doing that I decided it would be better to just put it on top of the motorhome with the rest of the panels.

The 325 watts of solar have been plenty for us and we haven't used the portable generator very much.
But with the propane refrigerator biting the dust and installing a residential refrigerator I thought an extra 100w panel would help.  I also added two extra 12 volt batteries last year so I think we are good to go without any problems.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Daughter arrived and storm

Friday was going to be a busy day for me with having a therapy session then later picking Sherry up at the airport.
But about a half an hour before I was to leave for the therapy session the phone rang.
It was my therapist calling to say that for some reason the they had over booked that day and my session had to be canceled.  So this coming Tuesday will be my last and that will finish up my therapy.   That didn't bother me at all and kind of relived me to know my day would be a little easier.

We left the house early to pick up Sherry because I wanted to stop at the First Quality Sausage House in Safety Harbor which is on the way to the airport.  This is a small deli but they are large enough in that they can ship meats all over the states.  They have sausage so good that it takes me back in time when I was a young kid that I would watch as the family would kill and butcher the hogs,  Then make the different type of sausages and meat cuts.

Then Nancy and I went to the Country Skillet Restaurant to have our supper.
After taking our time eating we arrived at the airport one half an hour before Sherry's plane was due to land.
As we sat there waiting for Sherry, a plane to arrived from Dayton, Ohio with the passenger's walking passed us with coats and jackets on and I with a short sleeve shirt  and short pants had to just smile thinking how we were blessed to be able to spend our winters in warmer weather.
Sherry was glad to see us as we were glad to see her and after a go around of hugs she picked up her luggage and off we went head home.

Yesterday I managed to put up the new tv with the help of Sherry so that little project is out of the way.  The new LED tv is the same screen size as the old flat screen but it looks so much smaller and it is a bunch of pounds lighter.

With the forecast of the on coming of T-Storms and wind I let up the patio awning and its a good thing because late afternoon we got just what they forecasted.  It scared Sherry because she isn't used to a house rocking a little in a storm.  Nancy and I assured her everything would be alright, which that was the way it turned out.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Taking a break

After trying to get the Onan generator to start with out any success I decided to take a little break.
I think the problem might be the #2 spark plug wire or the field coil.
It is not a matter of just pulling the wire of and changing it because the wire is molded in with the coil and by all accounts the generator has to come out of the motorhome.  Then the bottom half needs to be taken off to get to it where the fly wheel is located.

We all know if the designers of these things had to work on them things would be easier to repair.

On a bright note though our daughter Sherry is coming to visit us and staying until we leave for the summer.  She will be with us until we arrive at her house in Spencer, West Virginia.

So my day will be for therapy at 11:00 am then picking Sherry up at the airport in St, Petersburg later in the day.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

5500 Onan Generator

Hope everyone had a very Happy Easter.

Nancy and I stayed home instead of going out to eat.  Nancy fixed me a real good meal as you can tell by the plat of food in the above photo.  We had ham, candied sweet potatoes, Italian green beans, slaw, onion, pickled egg and a roll.  With all of that needless to say we had more than we should have.

I was disappointed Monday after putting the new carburetor on the Onan 5500 generator when I pushed the starter button it didn't start.  After checking everything I found the one of the two plugs was not firing.  After buying two new plugs then trying again the # 2 plug still would not fire.  So I will have to keep on looking for the problem.

Today was another therapy day so now two more time to finishing up.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.
