End of Year

Well here we are at the end of another year. Once again we say wat happened to that year,it passed so fast. I hope the coming New Year brings the happiness that you are seeking. Today Nancy and I celebrate our 51st wedding anniversary. Its hard to believe that many years have gone by. I don't know what we will be doing today as we hardly ever make plans we just let things happen. Right now Nancy is preparing biscuits and fried apples for breakfast. Now that is a pretty good way to start the day.

We went out for a little ride and came across this Indian mound.
Then we saw this boat. I've never seen one like this before. It looks like a flying saucer on top of it. It was a beautiful day.

Dinner Out

We went to church today and then after church we went with two other couples to a Chili's restaurant to have dinner. It has been a long time that we have been in a Chili's because we didn't like it the last time we ate. But I will have to say that today it was delicious and plenty of food. We then came home changed clothes and went to the store to buy stuff to make cabbage rolls tomorrow. We make them every New Year's Eve. We've been doing this for a long time. We'll just sit around the rest of the night,it is late in the evening anyway.

Game Day

Yesterday was wash day again. Did Nancy have a load, because with the Chrismas time going up to Mark and Sherry's we were over due. But we got it finish for a little while. Of course wash day means it was also pizza day. No cheap pizza today thanks to Mark and Sherry giving us a gift card from Pizza Hut. We got a thick crust pan pizza. Boy and did it taste good and chewy, yummy. It is saturday so that means its baskestball game time for me. I sure like college basketball because the young men play the game because they like it. It is so much better than the pro ballgames were the guys are paid(over paid) and think of it as a job. Or if you like football this is going to be the week for you with all the bowl games.

Here is a motorhome that you may have not seen. It is a German Ormocar. I don't know where the car name came from but this is one huge vechile. It has 4 wheel drive and is fully contained.
The Ormocar is in the Orchid Lake Park here in New Port Richey,Florida. The nice couple from Germany will be going to Death Valley so be on the look out for them. I'm sorry that I didn't get their name, they were having dinner and I didn't want to bother them too much. So I just snapped this picture and had a few words with them.

Walk for your Health

After we came back from my cardiogist, who said that my blood work and the results from the stress test were good. We went down to John Chestnut Park to catch up on our walking. We walked big time yesterday, more than we have walked in a long time. We did a little over 7 miles and could feel it this morning.

Of course it is easy to walk here beside Tarpon Lake. Here is part of one of the trails down here. This part is graveled and it also has the boardwalks over the swampy sections. We saw a bunch of squirrels, some birds an even deer. One of the deer was a nice buck with a good looking rack on his head.

On the other trail we took was the boardwalk around the side of the lake. On a day which was 80* we had a nice breeze off of the lake waters.
Along the boadwalk there are section off of it where you can enjoy a picnic or just relax and enjoy the scenery and watch the boaters go by. Another very nice day.

Good Times

We did have a real good time visiting with all up in Valdosta,Georgia. We also had a good and safe trip back home. The I-75 was much more crowded than going up so half way down I got off and came down route 41. This is a good route for taking your time and seeing things you wouldn't see from the interstate road. I like going through the old towns with their old courthouses and stores. Theres just something about these towns that a mall full of shops doesn't have. Also you get to see the mom and pop motels and not the chain motels. Although more and more of them are closing up because people just do not want to take their time and enjoy the scenery along the way. Nowadays its seeing how fast you can get there, then it takes 2 days to rest up not a good way to travel. Slow down people and enjoy the journey.

Back to Florida

We will be making the journey back home to Florida today. We've had a great time here visiting with Mark,Sherry and Jeremy. Christmas time was nice with them. Watching Sherry opening her presents that Mark got was exciting for her. With plenty of goodies to eat,we had ham salad sandwiches, chips, candy, cookies and punch Christmas eve. Then Christmas day for dinner we had ham, mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, hot rolls and soft drinks.
I'm glad we don't have to go to the store today,I know it will be crowded with people returning a bunch of stuff. Presents are nice but you can't go wrong giving cash or a gift card, then the person you give these to can get exactly what they want.

Christmas Day

Yes the Christmas Tree with all the presents. This is nice but we all know the true meaning of Christmas. Its also a time when we gather with family and friends. Its also a sad time remembering the past Christmases and some of those friends and family are no longer with us. But the good thing is we will always have those memories. So remember the things you do will be memories to last someone a life time so make good ones for them to remember.

I say again. Merry Christmas

Valdosta,Georgia

Today we will be off to Georgia to visit with our daughter and grandson for the Christmas Holiday. We were just going to hang around and be here but,she called and wanted us up there so off we go. It will be a nice drive,it is a little longer than I usually like to drive. We will be in the car so hopefully it will not be to bad. Now if we were traveling in the motorhome it probably would be a two day trip. We do like to take our time when we travel in the motorhome.
Thats what fulltiming suppose to be slow and easy so you can enjoy the trip.
I imagine I-75 will be bumper to bumper with traffic. Everyone wanting to get to the families and enjoy Christmas. Sorry to say there will be some that won't make it.
Everyone have A Merry Christmas.

Christmas Rush

We went to church again this morning. We came home for a quick bite again because we had to go to the mall. This morning as Nancy was fixing the toast the nose piece on her new glasses fell off so back to the eye glass place we went. It didn't take long to get it fixed the guy told her he put better one on the glasses. The mall was crowded as could be expected for this time of the year. It was wall to wall with people that were in a hurry. From there I went to some stores checking on the prices of ram memory for my laptop computer. It came with 512MB and I want to go up to 1G at least.
Needless to say I didn't find any at my price. I'm not in a rush so I found out a long time ago if you wait sooner or later you won't have to pay the higher price for things.
We will sit around the rest of the day resting up for our trip to Sherry's tomorrow.

I'm a Millionaire

Well not yet,but as soon as I send off for that $39.95 cd that the fellow on tv is selling I will be. He tells me if I follow what he says on the cd I won't have any money worries. I'm just wondering why he doesn't do that insted of selling the cd? If he is so confidant that I will make that money, you think he would wait and let me send him the payment for the cd's after I make the money? Of course not. People will by this stuff thinking they are going to make money so easy. I will say though there probably are some that do but not your average person.
It is cool here this morning but the temp is suppose to get up to 73 today. If the sun shines that will be nice. I will be watching my basketball games today.
Hope everyone has a nice day.

Busy Day

This has been one busy day. We got up earlier this morning because we had to go in for blood work. After being there we just had breakfast out because we had to be back at the same place by 12:00 for an MRI on Nancy's hip and an MRI on my knee(yes we are falling apart). After sitting there for a couple of hours they tell us something happened to the machine and they would have to reboot it. We got out of there around 4:30 came back home to eat a bite,we had a message on the phone that said our glasses were ready to be picked up. So after a quick snack off the the mall to get the glasses. From there off to WalMart to get some Christmas gifts. We got back home a little after 7. Am I glad to be finally setting still.

Little Caesars Pizza

With yesterday being the day we did the laundry at the laundromat means one thing.
Yep,you guessed it. It was pizza time. Nancy loves pizza so on the day she does a little extra work we stop by and pick up a pizza. Theres a new "Little Caesars Pizza" shop on the way so we got one. You can't beat the price of a "Hot and Ready" pepperoni pizza for $5.00. Of course this has the thin crust. So if you like the thicker crust and more toppings you will have to pay more.

In the woods in town??

Today we go to the laundromat. This is an every week thing to do. Some times we stretch it to more days than a week. It would be easier if Nancy had a washer and dryer, but with the space we have its not very likely we will get one. Anyway the ones for the motorhomes are the compact units that are small and she would be washing and drying all the time. So we go to the laundromat where she uses 2-3 or 4 units and in a lot less time she is finished.

Some rv'ers don't like private parks because they feel like it is too cramped in. Here at the Orchid Lake Park I am on site 159 on the outer ring where the property line ends. So no one is up against the back of my motorhome. I can go out and look out there and it looks like I'm in the woods. Of course I do like it better when we are in the woods with the wild animals coming and going close to our site. The only ones that go by our site here are the small lizards and occasionaly the sandhill cranes, and a gopher turtle.

Early Start

We had a early start today. I had to get up and be at the doctors office by 10"00am for a stress test. Not your everyday type of stress test. This one was the nuclear test with the chemicals going through the arteries and heart. It lasted 2 1/2 hours. Of course I won't know anything until I see the doctor again. I got back home ate a late breakfast, took my medicines and off to WalMarts to pick up a few things. Then it was off to fill the 20 lb. propane tank that ran out this morning. Now I've gotta catch up on my email and rv forums. Of course some more basketball games tonight.

Christmas Musical

The music was very enjoyable last night. The singing with the live orchestra playing in the background. There was one small girl around 6-7 years old that had a fantastic voice.
We woke up this morning to a temperature of 37. Man now that is cold. We both had a doctors appointment this morning to check on a few things and get set up for some blood work, which we have every so often. Then we stopped into the store for a few things. Now it is time to sit around for awhile like two old people do from time to time.

What a Night

It was nice yesterday but the night was something else. Of course the weather man was there to tell us what was coming. So before it got dark I rolled the awning in. In the middle of the night there came a real storm with the hard rain, lightning and the wind blowing.
We didn't know how bad it was until we saw the news on tv this morning. In the county we are in a short way from us a tornado had touched down and torn up some houses, turned over some cars and uprooted trees. We had 2 to 3 inches of rain.
Today was nice with the sun shining but the wind is still blowing.
After church we went out to have dinner with 2 other couples that we are friends with in the church. We will be going back tonight for the Christmas Musical.

Just Looking

We once again didn't do to much of anything yesterday. We did go out and look at some rocker/recliner chairs. We've got this green barrel chair that came in the motorhome that I have never liked. When I come across the one I like this thing goes in the junk. It might be ok for someone that goes camping on the weekends, but for fulltiming its a pain.
We took some clothes out to goodwill. Every now and then we have to check our closets to see what we haven't worn in awhile and get rid of it.
Then we went to a couple of Salvation Army Stores. Nancy bought her some books to read. I do believe she reads more than a librarian. I guess we've all got things that we like to do. That reminds me,I've got college basketball games to watch today. Bye,see ya later.

Thursday, December 13, 2007

New Glasses

We had our glasses made today. We were way over due on getting this and both of us know that we needed new glasses. Both of our perscriptins had changed quite a lot. Hopefully when we pick them up that everything will be alright and we can see good out of them. I know one time I had some made and the only way I could read out of them was to turn my head sideways. Needlessly to say I had to take them back. By the time we did this then we had dinner at a Chinese Buffet and came home it was after 5:00pm.

Repair Time

Yesterday was a nice relaxing day. It looks like today will be different. I've got to go to Home Depot or Lowes for some parts to repair the slide section on one of the drawers.
I don't know why the makers of the rv's put the cheapest junk in these units. Well I guess I do,its to hold down the cost(not mine but theirs).
After I find the part off its to Walmart again for a few things. Can anyone go a whole week without going to WalMart?

Tuesday, December 11, 2007

Beach for Sun

We went down to Tarpon Springs, where the Fred Howard Park is located along the gulf.
We like to walk here under the shade of the trees and a breeze blowing off of the gulf waters. This makes it a pleasant walk.
Along the walk we saw this squirrel beside the path looking for something to eat and at the same time keeping an eye on us.

Going on the causway out to the island we saw a few people fishing. Couldn't tell if they were catching fish or not. I guess they were enjoying themselves anyway.

The parking spaces along the beach side were not crowded one bit. Unlike on the week-end,you can hardly find a spot to park.
Not to many people out enjoying the sunshine. A few young people. but mostly us older folks.
We only stayed a couple of hours because we have lost all of our tan so we didn't want to burn up.
Just another lazy relaxing day.

Sunset

Today we had to wash the clothes at the laundromat. That always takes a little time and money. Oh well I guess we'll make it some how.
We did get the time to go out and watch the sunset over the "Gulf of Mexico" this evening. It is always a beautiful site watching the sun drop with the birds flying by. There are always people out taking picture. Today was another hot day.

Sunday, December 09, 2007

Another beautiful day here today. This is the kind of weather Florida is suppose to be like.
Yes,the kind of weather that make the people from the north "snowbirds". Here on the east coast you can see all the elderly people here for the winter. Of course even the younger fulltime rv'ers also spend some winter months in Florida.

We went to church today and on the way back we stopped in at the "Breakfast Station" for dinner. Even though they are mainly a breakfast place they do serve other things.
We will not be doing to much today. This is our day off.

Saturday, December 08, 2007

Nice Morning

Yes it is a nice morning here today. With the temp getting back up to the 80's.
We.ve still got more inside work to do on the motorhome. Today we will steam clean the carpet. I hope it turns out ok,because we only have a small carpet cleaner and have never used it, It may take several times before we can tell any difference. I've already washed the car,so this is another busy day, Boy I hope we catch up soon on the cleaning.

Friday, December 07, 2007

Again

Upon seeing the Doctor yesterday and talking to him he scheduled a stress test for the 18th. He wants to see if I have more blockage in the artery or if the stent he put in a year and a half ago is ok. So thats the scoop on that.
We are going to the Flea Market today to see if they have anything that we just can't do with out. I need to get some 12v light bulbs and no doubt we will end up getting other things.
We will do quite a bit of walking there and then go to other places to finish up.
The weather here is warming up nice. It will get up to 80* today.

Thursday, December 06, 2007

Doctor Appointment

We did get our cleaning of the motorhome yesterday. The ceiling, walls and woodwork. We could tell it this morning as both of us woke up moaning and groaning. Boy,are we out of shape.
I guess we do pretty good though. Besides all that work we still managed o get in 5 miles of walking. The life of fulltime rv'ing is great, but sometimes you have to stop having fun and get to work on the house.
Today I have an appointment with the cardiologist. Hope all is good news from him.

Wednesday, December 05, 2007

Grrrrrrr.

I've spent a lot of time on the computer this morning. I always go into my favorites My Website folder for to check to see how many pennies I've earn from people clicking on the google adds. For some reason the folder was gone? I didn't delete it and I have no idea how it disapeared. So I went into the search and luckily it was in there. I had to may a new folder and bring up each website to put back into it. These computers sometimes have a mind of their own.
Anyway,it looks like today will be a day to clean inside of the motorhome. The ceiling and walls, then somethings outside. We are going to try and steam clean the carpet this week-end.

Tuesday, December 04, 2007

Getting in stride

We are getting back to walking. We got behind with the way our summer was.

We walked today in the J. B. Starkey Park. Here is the bike and walking path. This path is 6 miles long. I don't have to tell you we haven't walk the complete length yet. We also went to the Dollar Tree and WalMart for a few things. Hopefully we will get back in shape shortly.
It was cool and a good day to walk.

Monday, December 03, 2007

Walking

We're about to catch up with our walking. We walked over to the new Home Depot and Kohls. Walked around inside to look at everything then back home. After eating some fruit for lunch we went down to the .99 store to see what they had. We bought some canned vegetables. Then it was a stop into the Winn-Dixie store. I stopped and picked up a "hot and ready" pizza from Little Caesars. Nancy does like to get her pizza fix.

Sunday, December 02, 2007

We got to the park yesterday and set up all we could. The jacks still wouldn't go down so we were off "kilter". After we had lunch I started to checking to see if I could find what was wrong with the jacks. I checked all the fuses and they were good. Next I took the control buttons out of the dash and saw an inline fuse. I thought to myself this could be the one I've been looking for,but it was good also. The circuit board had a lot of dust on it so I blew the dust off and checked the wiring. What do you know, that cured the problem. So now the motorhome is level and Nancy can walk without staggering.
We had some of Nancys good spaghetti for dinner.
Today we went to church and met some people we havn't seen before. Preacher Guy had a good sermon. After church we came home and had the left over spaghetti from yesterday and it was still real good. After dinner I did some more thing around the motorhome to make it more like home.

Saturday, December 01, 2007

Port Richey,Florida

Well we are still here in the WalMart parking lot getting our showers a ready to go on over to Orchid Lake Park. I was ready first and went out to clean all the bugs off of the windsheild.
There was 2 other motorhomes that spend the night here. As I was cleaning the windows one of the guys came over and with the usuall "where you heading" that always start a conversation. I told hime just around the corner. He said he was going down to Sarasota Bay. He had spent the past winter at Suncoast RV Resort here in Port Richey. For some reason the "no see ums are real bad in this park. Those are the little bugs that are all teeth.
The temps are getting hot real quick today, the temp is suppose to be 81 for the day.

Friday, November 30, 2007

Florida

We got ready this morning,I rolled up the electric cord jump in the motorhome switched on the button to let the jacks up and nothing happened. Oh no now what! Well I didn't take the time to check to see what was wrong. I just hit the switched to the emergency retract and up came the jacks. I will have to see if a fuse is blown or maybe something else. We traveled around an hour and a half then stopped for lunch and a little walking.
I drove down to the FlyingJ where I was going to spend the night but,a couple of old geezers parked so close to me I thought they where going to take the side out of the motorhome.
So I decided to just come on in to the WalMart which is close to our park where we will spend the winter.

Thursday, November 29, 2007

Almost Time

Today we will go to Sherry and Marks again to wash clothes and have dinner with them.
Tomorrow we will leave for Florida to spend the winter. I will spend the night somewhere and go to Orchid Lake Park on saturday. I always like for the last day to be a short day because that way I won't be to tired to set up everything once we get there.
Our time here visiting has once again been enjoyable.

Changing the fluid

I was busy today with something I have never done before. I changed the transmission fluid and filter in the motorhome. The filter I bought wasn't the right one so I took it back and the parts place didn't have the right one so off I went to another place and got it. After draining the fluid and removing the pan. I cleaned out the bottom of the pan,the magnet had very little black "sludge"around it. After putting it back on I started to fill with new fluid only to find out it was close quarters under the hood. So off I went to find a small pump to pump it in. After a few hours I was finished. So won't have to fool with that for awhile. I did get some help from my grandson Jeremy.

Monday, November 26, 2007

Yesterday we went to church with Mark and Sherry. After church we had dinner with them at their house. Mark fixed spaghetti and garlic toast, which was very good. Then last night we went with Jeremy and Tiff to their church. The young people had a good program and Jeremy had a short message,in which he did good. It was a good day.
Today we had to go out to the Hess Station to dump the tanks. This is on I-75 exit 11 and a short drive from where Jeremy lives.
Tonight Mark and Sherry brought over a ham,Nancy fixed some things as did Tiff. All together it was a good dinner. After the dinner I played a little with the small ones.
This was another good day and evening.

Saturday, November 24, 2007

We didn't do anything exciting yesterday. We did go over to Mark and Sherry's to do our washing of the clothes. Oh,something was exciting! We watch the last quarter of the Arkansas and LSU football game. It went into 3 overtimes with the Arkansas tem winning.
When we are here Jeremy likes for his Nanny to fix at least one breakfast. So this morning we will have eggs, bacon, gravy and biscuits.

Thursday, November 22, 2007

Happy Thanksgiving

Heres hoping everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving. Theres nothing better than getting with family and enjoying a big meal. Some will be thinking of memories past which is good to do. We may think that what we are doing today is just nothing special, but we are making memories for tomorrow.
Here Nancy and Sherry are hard at it preparing the food. We did eat a little late and it was delicious. Now after a short time I will decide on pumpkin or pecan pie. Then again maybe just have a piece of both with a large scoop of whipped cream.

Tuesday, November 20, 2007

Free Camping??

We went a little ways down into Florida looking for a free camping spot, that was suppose to be beside the river. We looked but we couldn't find it.

On the way down we saw a few cotton fields ready for harvest. It looks like snow on top of weeds.
On the way back we saw this Direct TV blimp. I guess it was heading to some football game that will be played on Thanksgiving day. The pilot was have a time maneuvering it in the breeze.

Great Grandson

Yes thats who that is on the go cart. Its Andy. His uncle Nick and aunt Joan gave it to him and he just loves it. He wants to stay on it all the time.
I wash the top of the motorhome, but its still dirty. It will take a couple more time of scrubbing.
Jeremy helped me with the sides. After that we went over to Mark and Sherry's for dinner.
We're just mostly taking it easy while we are here.

Sunday, November 18, 2007

Jeremy's Yard

We are parked in the yard of my grandson Jeremy. He has plenty of room. This past spring I put in 30amp breaker so I could have a hook up. With electric, water here and a dump 7 miles out at a Hess station it makes a good place to park.
We met Mark and Sherry this afternoon for dinner, then went to their place for a couple of hours to visit. It was another good day today.

Saturday, November 17, 2007

After getting everything secured in the motorhome and the slides put in. We said our goodbyes and was on our way south again. My brother Nick and his wife Joan are always so good and kind to us when we stay there. Hopefully when we come back up in the spring time next year we can stay longer.
We only had a little over a hundred miles to drive so we took our time. We stopped at a rest area to dump. I got out and could see why they are slowly closing the dump stations in each state. I don't know if people are dumb or just filthy. Someone had emptied their tanks and didn't use a sewer hose like they are supposed to. Not only that. They didn't bother to clean it up with the water hose that is right there. It only takes a few like this to make it look like all RVer's are like this.

New Drive way

Cement truck ready to pour cement for the nice new wide drive way at my brothers house. He still had enough room for me to park in the front of the house.

Wednesday, November 14, 2007

Warner Robins

After stopping in at the Georgia Welcome Center and dealing with a guy trying to scam me we dumped our tanks and continued south. we drove all the way to Macon before pulling into to a WalMart to walk a little and fill up with gas. This stop took $185.00 to fill up. The price was $2.85.9 a gallon. We got to my brothers house at 4:30. He was gone when we got here but arrived shortly with a couple of pizzas. After we ate we went down to the Kroger store to get our flu shots. We will spend a couple of days here then on to Valdosta to visit with Sherry and Jeremy and families.

Tuesday, November 13, 2007

On the move

After being in Pigeon Forge,Tennessee for four days we are on the move south again.
We took route 411 south for a nice slow drive. We passed some nice farm land along the way. Also the trees are still beautiful with full colors. It seems to be to late in the year for the leaves to show so much color.
After we were on the road for 5 hours we stopped to spend the night at the FlyingJ on I-75 at Resaca,Georgia. Resaca is the place where the first Confederate Cemetary in Georgia is located.
We didn't stop to look but maybe next time. The cemetary is on route 41 just north of town.

Dinner Out

Today we went out for dinner with our son his wife and son. He set us up so,once again I over ate. After that Nancy and I loafed around some. I have been wanting to redo the propane connect so I can use the 20 lb. bottles. The RV places have what is called extend-a-stay hose but it is $160.00. While over at our friends yesterday he had a bottle outside so I saw how he had it connected. Today I went to Tractor Supply Co. and bought a hose for the connect at a cost of $12.99. Boy did I feel good about that. The time it took for the conversion was 10 minutes.

Visiting Friends

We spent most of the day just sitting around. Joe,Cherisa and Haven did come out to visit for awhile. Then this evening we went to visit some of our road friends(David and Joyce Gilchrist which we haven't seen in around 3 years. After chatting a little bit we went out for dinner and then took David and Joyce back to their motorhome for some more talking. We enjoyed the time with these two long time friend that we meet in a campground in 2000 our first year out fulltiming. Our paths cross from time to time and we get together. We do keep in touch with them by phone.

On the road

After being in Kentucky the last couple of months helping as much as we could with our brother in law Jim and the family. We are on the road again. Sadly to say Jim lost his battle with cancer. He will be missed by all the family and friends. We will always have all the memories of the good times we had together.
After driving down some back roads of Kentucky and enjoying the scenery of the farms and the old barns.
We arrived in Pigeon Forge,Tennessee to see that they have finished "The Inn at Christmas Place. This looks like a nice place to stay,if you like motels. We prefer our own bed in our motorhome.
We will stay here a few days and then head down to Florida for the winter.

Monday, October 15, 2007

We are still in Kentucky, staying uin the yard of my brother-in law Jim,who is fighting a battle with cancer. The pain is getting worse and he is in the hospital in Morehead,Ky. We don't know how long we will be here,it is hard to say at this time. I don't get a chance to get on the internet much. I brought my laptop to the hospital and now online from a motel that has wifi. Will post as time permits.

Thursday, September 06, 2007

Back in Kentucky

We left Douglas Lake around noon and stopped at the Kentucky Welcome Center for a quick bite to eat. We drove all the way to the Winchester WalMart to spend the night. We will take our time getting our showers and getting ready to the 50 to 60 miles on in to Jackie and Jim's.

Thanks to everyone for clicking on the google ads on the page. The fews cents I get are not as much as some get but I'm happy to be getting any amount. Maybe I will be able to put some more interesting things on with pictures.

Its Over!

Yes the Long week end is over. All the kids have gone back home to their routine and all the things they do. We really enjoyed being with all of them. Nancy and I are staying a couple of days out at Douglas Lake relaxing before we go back to Jackie and Jims. We have a couple of things that we need to do tomorrow while we are in the Pigeon Forge area.

Labor Day Week End

Yes it was time for family and friends to enjoy an outing. This is the last week end of summer but it looks as though the high temps are going to stay with us for a while

The little ones were enjoying their meal and the adults also had their fill. After eating they all went in different directions. Some going to the pool to cool off while some went up to Gatlinburg to look around. It was a good day.

We had our children over for our get together today. Here our son Joe is helping out with the grilling. We had hot dogs and burgers. After we ate we went up to Sherry and Marks cabin to watch a video. Now they are down at the pavillion for karoake. They always have a good time doing this.

Finally another post

Sorry that I'm not posting regular but,Nancy and I are helping out all we can with our brother in law Jim. He has inoperatable cancer. Since we have no laid plans we are able to help in any way we can. We are in an area where I can't get on the computer with the cell phone.
We have come down to the Smokie Mountains for a few days to meet up with some of the children who have come for their vacations.
I will try to post some pictures. Again I'm sorry for not being able to post each day.

Still at Jackie and Jim's

We are still parked at Jackie and Jim's place. Helping what little bit we can. Jim has 2 more radiation treatments, then we have to see what the doctor has to say. Jim has his good days and his bad days. We will keep staying here as long as we are needed without getting in the way.

I did get a chance to go four wheeling. My first time operating one of these things.
Keep my brother-in-law in your prayers as he goes through this trying time in his life.
I will post again when I can get a connection. Right now I'm in Morehead on an open WiFi connection.

Going Back

We will be going back to Jackie and Jim's to stay for awhile. So my blog may be spotty with the posting,as I can't get onling there.
We have had a great time here visiting with our daughter Vicki and family.
Lexington,Ky. is beautiful horse country. Nice large green fields with the horses romping around so proud they look as though they know when you are looking at them. They look as though they are posing for you. There is a lot of road construction going on through out the area and they are repairing and building new rock fences.

We went over to Vicki's today and ran around all day long. We did stop long enough to eat at the Panda Garden Chinese Restaurant. It was a good meal. Richard took his lunch time off work so he joined us also. After we got through running around we went back over to Richard and Vicki's house to sit around and talk for awhile.
I will fill up the fuel tanks before we leave tomorrow. The gas has dropped down to $2.59.9 with the WalMart card. Maybe it will be a little lower tomorrow.

Another good night

We did have a good night in the WalMart parking lot. We were out kind of back were the car service is located. There was one other motorhome there also. Someone from Colorado.
I'm now in a shopping plaza where they have a string of stores including a Staples. I'm on the Staples WiFi Hotspot. Where they have a one hour free connection. I don't know if all the Staples provide this or not but it is worth a try if you are near one.
Tonight will be another WalWart night. They have 4 of them in Lexington,so why not?

WalMart Again

We had a good night as usual at the WalMart on Richmond and Man 'O' War. We didn't do much of anything today. Just walked around a little bit.
To night is another WalMart night. This one is on Man 'O' War and Nicholasville Road.
It looks like we will go out to the Horse Park for two nights. The fresh water tank is low and the other tanks need dumping. Boy I sure hate to pay for camping. Sometimes you just have to though.

Cracker Barrel

We stayed all night in the Cracker Barrel parking lot. Of course I asked and was granted permission to do so. We had a good and peaceful night. The air was cool coming in thru the open window over our heads. The temp was down around 58 degrees so it was pleasant all night long. Now when Nancy is ready we will go inside and have us a breakfast.
OK,we are back out after the breakfast and it was good as usual.
This is the spot we had behind the Cracker Barrel.
Even though it was across the street from the Holiday Inn for some reason I didn't feel any smarter when I woke up this morning.
Now we are off to look around for a bit before we go over to Vicki's.

What!!!

we got into Lexington yesterday and checked with the Kentucky Horse Park Campground. No electric site but they had primitive camping for $15.00 a night. Yes I am cheap. I couldn't see paying $15.00 for a spot of their lawn. So off to the WalMart parking lot we went for a good nights rest. Some people can't stay at a WalMart for some reason they just don't like it. Thats ok with me if you want to pay but not this poor boy. Besides at the WalMart you can take your time and do your shopping and a few steps you are home.
After visiting with Vicki and Richard today we will be staying at the Cracker Barrel tonight. With the saving of the money for camping we will enjoy a good breakfast.
Thats my way of doing things and You may have your ways. It doesn't mean that either one of us are right or wrong. Its just the way the world is and its good that we are all different.

Lexington,Ky

We left Don and Peach's house monday heading for Jackie and Jim's. Of course I didn't get on the interstate I took US 60 and got head up by road work.
We did make it to Jackie and Jim's and parked in their yard. I had to raise the front end up quit a bit.

While there I went on my first 4 wheel ride. It was a good ride but I got tired quite. It was fun never the less.
I havn't been able to post because I don't have a signal on the cell phone.
We are now in Lexington,Ky. visiting our daughter Vicki and family. We will be here a few days and then back to Nancy's sister Jackie for an undetermine amount of time. Jim is quite sick and we feel that we are needed there more than anywhere else at this time. So my postings may be just hit and miss for awhile.

Heading to Kentucky

We will be leaving today to go to Kentucky to Jackie and Jim's house. That is Nancy's sister.
They live close to Morehead and Cave Run Lake. They have a very nice house on top of the mountains. I like being out in the woods.
We are saying goodbye to Peach and Don. They have been so nice to us and we've more than enjoyed our time here. This is the longest amount of time we have spend with them since we've been on the road.
So off we go again.

The Usual

Thats us. Nothing but the everyday living is happening right now. Of course we are still parked in Peach and Don's driveway and enjoying their company. If we didn't have the motorhome we would not be visiting as long as we have. Even though we could stay with them it is better to sleep in your own bed. This way we know that we are not getting in their way to much. We will be here until Monday. Why is it everytime you turn on the television or are on the computer that people want to show ou how to make a bunch of money? You can make $1000 or $2000 in a week in your spare time. Now I would really like to be able to do that. I just don't think that they can help me that much for only a one time payment of $39.95. I'm amazed at how someone can teach you to became independently wealthy and yet they themselves have to be on the tv selling stuff?Like P.T. Barnum always said "theres one born everyday".We have a nice sunny day here. We are going to get our medication filled at the WalMart today. That is the big plans we have for this day.
After we got out medicine from WalMart we stopped in at the Halfway Market to look around. This is an Amish Market. Boy did my eyes pop out when we entered the door. They had all kinds of stuff made of wood. Tater bins, cedar chests, toys and a lot of wood things. Also the market was kind of like an old style market. Candy in barrels, fruit and vegetables, spices in plain bottles,Amish jams and jellies. It was very interesting. This is located on US Route 60 east of Milton,WV.

VA Hospital

Yesterday we went to the VA Hospital to see our brother-in-law Jim who had to take some test.
After visiting with him for awhile we went to (Where else) Walmart to get a few groceries.
This was about all we did. I did clean a few of the windows outside of the motorhome.
I don't mention the few things I have to do on the motorhome because that is the things that you have to do when you are a fulltimer.
Most of the time people just see fulltimers doing nothing but riding around all the time.
We have the everyday and weekly things that have to be done the same as when you live in a stick house. If you don't keep up on the caulking, checking tire pressure, oil water and a bunch of other stuff it will catch up with you and you will be in trouble.
Of course there are no plans on how today will go.

Finished

Yes we are finally finished withe the roof. Just a couple of small things left to rap up on. This has been a fun project for me. I've not done anything like this in quite a while and I made it through without any worse for the wear. In a few more days and we will move on to the next stop. We have no plans except to be at Vicki's before the 25th because our grandson Jarod is going of to the army.
I don't know what we will get into today.

Wednesday, July 11, 2007

Oh my,we did do some more work yesterday evening. One more piece of metal to put on the roof. Then a little bit of trim and it will be finished. A job well done for two old guys. I just hope it doesn't rain all day and gives us a chance to do the little bit of work we have left.
I've enjoyed doing this little project with Don it has been fun.

Half

Yep,we have the roof half finished on the deck roof. It was really hot today so we quit for awhile to cool off. Don and I ran up to Harbor Freight to get a 3/8" battery drill that was on sale. We each got one at half price. After we ate dinner we were going to work on the roof some more but it started to lightning so we thought it better to wait and see if it will quit. If we don't get to do anymore today we will do it tomorrow.

Why do they do it?

I was looking over our bank statement online friday and saw where the restaurant we ate in on July 2 had charged us twice for the same meal. Now I've got to go down and ask why I was charged twice for the same meal? I used my debit card which I signed the slip so there was no reason for this. I won't mention the name of the place but,if I can't get some satisfaction from them you can bet I will. It may just be an oversite on their part.I've also noticed a couple of times I've used my card at places that there is an $1.00 charge and wonder why? I've never gone back to ask but from now on I will. If we the customer doesn't do anything about the small add on charges they will just keep doing it.There are a few other things that we have to do today. Nothing major just small stuff.
We rode down in the town of Hurricane,WV.
saw this mural on the side of a building. I just love these paintings in the towns as we travel.

Saturday, July 07, 2007

No work today. Today will be a day of relaxing and just hanging loose. We'll get back to work on the cover for the deck on Tuesday when Don is not working his security job at the mall.
I think I will go down and check out the flea market to see if they have anything that I can not do without. I think Nancy wants to go to the mall and walk a bit. We are getting behind on our walking and it is showing up in our weight.

Deck Cover

The deck cover is making progress. When you have two old fella's working out in the sun and the temp around 90 it doesn't go to fast on the building. Still we are doing a little at a time and we will get it finished.

Just another good day

Yesterday for the 4th we did go to Mike's for a cook out. Hamburgers, hot dogs, deviled eggs, baked beans and salad. We did it again--pigged out. We had a good time visiting and eating. Mike and Teresa were great host.
Don and I will work on the deck cover a little again today. Don has to go to work later so we don't want to get him tired out.

Work??

Yup,thats what it was yesterday. Don and I started on his deck cover. I told him I would help him if he wanted to start on it and he took me up on the offer. We didn't work at long stretch's at a time because it was so hot. Besides old people are suppose to take it easy. This was the most I have worked since my heart attack, but it felt pretty good being able to do something. I woke up this morning only a little sore.
Last night I heard a loud boom and then some more and I knew someone was setting off fireworks. I looked out the window and the town got a jump start on the 4th with their fireworks show. It lasted for awhile and they had a nice show.
Today we are going over to Don and Peach's son(Mike) to have a cook out.
Oh this fulltiming in a motorhome is great. Being able to travel around and spending sometime with each member of our families.

Monday, July 02, 2007

Yesterday we went to church with Peach and Don down in Crum,WV. This is a trip of around 75 miles. With the curvy roads it takes a while getting there. On the way back we stopped in at the Penn Station Sub to have dinner. Their sandwiches are great tasting. We had the subs, fries and a drink. We took the small ones which was more than enough to fill us up. I don't know who could eat the large ones they have. That would be enough to feed a whole family. After we got back home we all had a rest and nap then visited a little more and then called it a day.It was another good day.
This is the Ashland Oil Refinery in Ashland,Ky that we passed yesterday. This plant keeps expanding.
The only plans we have today is to meet with Jackie, Jim and we will all go out for dinner.

Flea Market

I got ready and went down to the flea market while Nancy was getting herself ready.
I saw most of the stuff that they have at all of these markets. There was a guy selling rabbits, one selling dogs then there were several selling tools,rv parts and of course there was a china $1.00 store. In the past few years I've noticed about all of the flea markets have these people selling the china imports for a dollar. I bought a bungee cord in the flea market in Florida from one of the chinese places. I had it for about 3 weeks and it pulled apart right in the middle. Even though it cost a buck it wasn't a very good deal. Gotta make sure I don't get anymore of those.
Its now 12:55pm I don't know what the plans are for the rest of the day.

More Thunderstorms

Yes we did have more storms yesterday evening and a few sprinkles during the night. A chance of some rain again today.
We are going with Peach and Don to run around a little bit today. I have no idea of what we will get into, but it will be nice to run around with them.

Culloden,WV

Yesterday we said our goodbyes to Dee and the kids. It was sad to say goodbye but, thats the way it is when you are visiting. We will see them again in September at the Family Reunion.
After a pleasent drive down I-77 we arrived at Peach & Don's around 7:00pm. I set up everything then visited a little while then came back to the motorhome because it started to getting dark and we could see lightning in the distance. Around 9:00 we had a big storm hit with a lot of rain, thunder and more lightning. The wind was blowing hard also. It lasted close to an hour. We had a very restful night.

Middlebourne,WV.

While we are staying at the Conaway Lake WMA Campground we've driven through this small town several times. Yesterday I decided to stop and see if something had ever happened here. Sometimes in these small town they have interesting history of the town.

The sign says very little about the town.
The next stop was the library to see what I could find. I asked the librarian if she had any books on the towns history. She smiled and said no,but there were a couple of books on tyler county. I read through the books a little and as most towns of old they were Indian villages before the white men came. Near-by is a large indian mound but little history of the indians that was recorded they just seemed to vanish.
After coming out of the library we came to the town gazebo. We just love these gazebo's in the towns. It is where the towns have their celebrations. There was a sign on the inside of the gazebo that said it closed at 10:00pm. Since there are no doors I assume that you're not suppose to hang around after 10:00.

From there we went up the street and saw this beautiful old house that is being renovated. It looks like the old houses in the gothic novels. This home must have cost quite a sum in its day.

On down the street we came to Prunty's Pharmacy. I was hoping there was an old soda fountain inside like all the old drug stores had but no such luck. It has only been a pharmacy since 1991.
Before that it was and old general store. No one inside could tell me how old the store was.
It had the beautiful stamped metal cieling that was painted a nice white color that looked new.
Still down the street was the old First National Bank with the date 1902. It is now a craft store as most of the stores in town are.
Across the street from the bank is the court house and jail built in 1922.

A close-up on the relief on the court house depicting Justitia the lady of justice in Mythology portrays her sitting in judgement with the Sword of Justice in her left hand. A woman to her left and a man shackled in chains to the right plead for mercy from the goddess.
