Moving Day

We have not been doing anything special or exciting.  A few trips to Walmart and Food City for groceries, cleaning supplies and things for Nancy.
I did order a new Winegard RVW-205 Sensar IV Antenna from Amazon and put it on. The old one had to many run ins with low hanging tree branches and wasn't picking up the local channels very well. The new one is a big improvement and does pick up more channels.
Yesterday was a laundromat day.  We could have gone a couple more days, but with our family reunion this weekend we didn't want to be in the laundromat.
We will be moving today and going to Claubough's in Pigeon Forge for four days where everyone else are for the family reunion. We see just about everyone in our summer travels but it is a great time seeing them all together.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great day and weekend.

Good Weekend

Friday morning it was a thick fog on the lake.
No fog saturday or sunday and that was good because there was a Bass Pro
tournament going on. The large boat ramp parking lot was full pus they were parking in the grass in every spot. There was maybe 75 plus boats entered into the tournament.
By late sunday evening the crowd was gone and the ones left on the lake were families enjoying a slow boat ride.  The swimming area had quite a few people enjoying the water on a hot summer day.
Well after so many trips to Lowes for the lumber, bolts screws and trim I got the new microwave shelve build in. Since it will remain there while we are traveling down the road I built it extra strong so hopefully it will not fall down. Another project finished and I hope nothing else breaks or quits running. If you are on the road with your rv a lot and nothing tears up just wait, because it will sooner or later.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Catching up

Now lets see where to start,oh yeah the microwave. I took out the built in Magic Chef microwave and that was not an easy task. After measuring to see what size would fit we went to Walmart and then Lowes to see what they had.  Most of Lowes were to large to fit the space that I had. So it was back to Walmart were Nancy got the Emerson Micro/grill oven. This is a counter top microwave so it will have to be build in.
Wednesday it was to the laundromat for the day and on the way home I stopped in at the Little Caesar's for a "Hot and Ready" pepperoni pizza. After getting home and opening the pizza we saw it had a n ice thick crust, but at the first bite we knew it was hot and ready for a long time. This is the first time we have got an old Little Caesar's pizza.
Most of thursday was getting the lumber and other things for the microwave installation.
Yesterday was working on the microwave installation and of course going back to Lowes for more things. Also went to Kroger for a few things. I hope I will get it finished up today.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Douglas Lake

Yesterday we were up and ready early so we could drive down to the TVA Campground at Douglas Lake to see if there were any empty sites. We did luck up and find an open site. So after paying for one night off we were back to get the motorhome. Back at the motorhome to put away and secure all things inside, slides in jacks up and off to the dump to empty the tanks.  Off to Douglas Lake we went.
Getting to Douglas Lake it was setting up time again. So even though it was 30 miles from Cherokee Lake it took 90 miles of driving.
By the time we were finished with all of that it was time to eat so we drove to Logan's Roadhouse to have dinner(supper).
Here is our new view out the front window.  Here at the headwaters campground on Douglas Lake is one of our favorite places to stay.  We will be here until our family reunion in Pigeon Forge.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Another problem

I've had a small roof leak for some time now that been very hard to find. I have added caulk on the roof and arond the antennas but the leak is still there. I even have caulked around all the marker lights on the front cap. So I have been reading about a product called "Eternabond Tape" which is suppose to be great to get rid of the leak problem.
I called a camper dealer in Knoxville to see if they had it in stock. The guy said they did and at a special with $10.00 off if I come in to pick it up I could have it for $90.00. If you have been folowing my block you know I would not pay that much for it.
So I got online to see if there was a distrubutor for it. Yes there was in Knoxville and the price was $50.25 a roll. Now that sounds high but the roll is 4"x50' and that is a good price.
So yesterday I did one antenna.
Also yesterday our luck of things breaking down are continuing. Nacy was going to do the bacon in the microve for breakfast. When the microwave kicked off she took it out and it was cold. I told her I thought I could smell something like wire getting hot or burning. After checking it looks like the transformer has burned out. Well now we have to get another microwave.
The motorhome is around 12 years old and we have gone up to this year without a problem,so it is time for things to wear out.
I wonder what will it be the next time.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Cherokee Lake

This is the view from our site next to the Cherokee Lake.
Yesterday after getting back from Nancy getting her hair cut at Great Clip's and then loafing in Walmart for a while.  I put some pork ribs on the grill. Then all the time the rib's were grilling I smothered  them with barbque sauce. They tasted real good with potatos and a fresh salad.
How do you like this fifth wheel?  It looks like a home made one that was built on an old frame. I don't know how long the siding and shingled roof will hold up going down the road at 60 mph.
Some of the campers have brought their boats. I guess they went back and got the boats after setting up the camper?
Then you have the people that come to the lake to fish and some to just have a joy ride on the lake.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Grrrrr-Rain

Yesterday wasn't a good day to be hitching up and moving.
The day started out good but before I got the fresh water tank filled the rain came down. If I had another day to stay I would have but we stayed our limit of 14 day and had to leave the park.
So I put on my rain coat and hooked up the car. When I got back in the motorhome I had to change clothes because I was soaked to the skin.

By the time we got out of the park the sun was shining nice and bright. I told Nancy at least we would have a nice traveling day. That was not the case though. It would rain and then clear up in a few miles,it was that way all the way to Cherokee Lake.
We did get a site at the TVA Cherokee Lake Campground. So we will be here for a while.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Moving Day

Yesterday Nancy and I had to go to the laundromat to do the laundry.  We went to a different one that was a larger laundromat. After doing the clothes we went to Food City to buy a few groceries and bought us a couple of box dinners to take home to eat.  We had the chicken and both of us had pinto beans. Nancy also had carrots and I had mashed potatoes.
Today is moving day and we are hoping we can get a site at the TVA Campground on Cherokee Lake.  We stayed there last year and enjoyed it very much.
We have enjoyed our two weeks here at the Cumberland Gap Wilderness Campground, but its time to move on.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Rain and Trails

I thought yesterday would be another day of rain and watching golf.  Well it was up until 2:00 then the golf changed from the TNT channel over to CBS.  That finished the golf watching for me because here in the mountains I can't get the CBS channel.

The rain stopped after dinner time so I took the trash to the dumpster and told Nancy I was going to walk up the road a little while I was out. While I was walking up the road I saw a trail sign that was out to the picnic area and I said why not. I wanted to get some walking in anyway and what better way than walking through the woods.
So off I went. I met some hikers that were coming out and asked them if the trail was muddy or rough and they said it was just fine.
Soon I was out of the trail and on the road to the picnic area.
They have improved the picnic area with new bridges since the last time we were here.
It is damp here in the picnic area and moss has covered the ground and rocks, which looks good and green.
I have been walking some this week and have been in the mood for walking. I think maybe going through the woods has something to do with it. I have walked more this week than I have in the last year. I have shed a few pounds from the effort and that is alway good.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Rain

Yesterday was another day of rain most of the day with a break in the rain through out the day.
After Nancy had her shower and was ready it was time to dump the tanks and it was one of those breaks in the rain. So we put brought the slides in and let the levelers up and off to the dump. Before I could finish the rain started again and I got a little wet.
Back to our site it was leveling up again and putting the slides back out.

With the weather like it was I settled in and watched the PGA Championship Golf the rest of the day.  I have never been a golfer but I enjoy watching it.  Besides what else is worth watching on tv these days?
Nancy did prepare a really good pork chop dinner which both of us eat more than we should have.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Ranger on horseback

Monday morning I was out and looking around the motorhome checking things out I looked up and saw this ranger on horseback coming up the road.  He stopped to see how everything was goingand told me about the horse he was riding.  He said that horse was a little stuborn and didn't like to be ridden that much. He was used most of the time to pull supplies through the trails.
After a short time of talking with the ranger he was off and on his way slowly up the road and I was back to my chores.

After lunch Nancy and I went to Middlesboro to mess around. First it was to the Goodwill store where we did not find antthing interesting. Then it was to Roses for quite a while, from there to Walmart then back home to complete the day.

Yesterday was just a day of being around the house until after we had dinner then we went to New Tazewell to see what the town looked like. It was like any other little town where the main highways have moved to bypass going through the town and new store build on the new road. The little town stores soon are forced to close up because the traffic no longer sees them.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Take a hike

Saturday started off good.  I fried some onions and peppers to mix with the eggs. That with bacon, biscuits, blackberry jam and coffee was good and tasty.
Nancy and I both worked a little around the motorhome doing some little cleaning that had to be done.
Then towards evening I put some chicken breast on the grill after seasoning them up good. Nancy prepared the sides, this was a good day of eating along with a small amount of work.

Yesterday we didn't do very much of anything. Nancy's back was sore from mopping the floor the day before.

I did take a hike through the woods on a short trail.

It was up and down the hill side.It was up and down the hill side.
Across small streams.  It was enough to work up a sweat with the temp at 80.
It felt good being out in the mountains again. Nothing like walking under the trees, across streams and keeping the gnats out of your face.  I was kidding about the gnats.  Very nice day.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Unpleasant task

Yesterday I had plans to do a few things around the motorhome, but that didn't happened when something else had to be taken care of first. I won't go into details of what it was. All I will say that it happens to us rver's sometimes and it is a real messy and not so pleasant to take care of.  It took most of the day and is clear now.
We saw this young deer as we were coming back into the park the other day. It would not turn around for me to get a better photo.

There are a few morning glory flowers growning in the park which look nice.
go down and see if they have anything that I can't do with
There is a church yard sale going on today a couple of miles down the road so I may go down and see if they have anything that I can't do without.  Most of the yard sales I go to I leave empty handed. But who knows I may find that million dollar treasure?

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Rain and Pot Roast

Wednesday all night long it rained. Not a heavy rain, but enough to hear it through the night.
Then yesterday it really turned lose and the heavens opened up with a heavy rain that lasted all day. With the rain and the temperature getting to 68 it was a nasty day. Needless to say we didn't get out all day long.  The only thing that saved the day was Nancy puting on a pot roast in the crock pot.  It turned out good and we enjoyed eating it and watching the rain from inside the motorhome. After eating a good hot meal and still raining what better thing to do than taking a nap.

Thanks for stoping by and have a great day.
