Special Day

We had a large thunder Strom during the night with some gust of 40--50 mph winds.
We were glad the wind didn't last long but the rain did and this morning report we had 3" of rain.

A couple of times the wind did shake the motor home a scared Nancy.
We know we can with stand winds as high as 60 mph because we have been in winds of that speed a few times.

Today was a special day for me because it was my Birthday number 82 and did I have something special to do?
No, I  readjusted the patio awning after it was a little loose after the wind we had last night.
I also took a load of laundry down to the park laundry room to wash and dry.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Old bus

Its always good to start the day with a good breakfast.  This was the one I had the other day, with a couple of eggs, 2 slices of bacon, tomato, a biscuit and a cup of coffee.

Well this is how I actually started the day, with the sun already out and the breakfast after my walk.

A nice blue sky out over the gulf.

The last few days the walks have been short with the temps in the low 60's and high 50's.
With those temperatures short pants and a short sleeve shirt just doesn't go very well together.
Then when the sun is out the temps are up in the middle 80's.

Walking down a side street I notice this old school bus behind a locked fence.  There was an old house that was run down and had not been lived in for a long time.

There was a for sale sign out front so I thought I could go in and get a closer look at the bus.
Getting a close look I could see it was and old international school bus.  Maybe an old 40's or early 50's. It was rusty, but it still looked solid.
Could be a younger guy might make a good project of it by converting it to a motor home.  It would be a conversation piece at that when finished.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Stretching walking distance

Wow, we sure has the rain yesterday.  The rain amount was a little over five inches in a few hours which is a lot considering this is suppose to be in the drought season.  The rain did last off and on all day long so I did not get to walk.

So this morning I did some extra walking by going down a few side streets.

I saw a few different flowers that was nice.

I like flowers and when I see the different kind I kind of get excited about it.

I didn't get excited about the way the down pour yesterday washed out the grass clips and gravel out on the sidewalk.

I saw this medic unit probably going to an accident since the fire truck was already gone in front of it.

Did you ever wonder why the fire truck and police get there before the first responders do?
Being an EMT in addition to repairman and welder at the mines where I worked I can explain it.
They taught us to make sure that the other miners had made it safe for EMT's to enter the accident area before going in.  Because if it was unsafe and we got hurt we would not be able to help anyone of the accident victims.
So the police and fireman block off the area to make it is safe for the first responders to do their thing.

A puzzling photo

As I walk along each day I see different things that people have discarded.
I do not know why people always litter our highways and can't wait until they get back home or stop at a gas station and throw it in the waste can.

Now here is a bucket, why litter the highway with this because a bucket can have many uses.

But the next photo really puzzles me.

Yeah, that three baggies of puzzle pieces on the sidewalk.  They may have fallen of a bike, I don't know they were all close together.

I stretched my walking out a little more by walking down to Frank's Restaurant.  Frank's was in a smaller building straight across the road from the park we are in.  But has move 1/4 mile south to this much larger one.
This is a good place to eat and I know he would like to be over the virus thing, because he is always full of customer's.  "Hang in there Frank".

I took the photo off the television.  We got interested in watching two Bald Eagles raise two eaglets from the time they came out of the egg.
They are two months old now and they really put on a show flapping their wings and dancing around.
I don't know how they got the live cam up in that tree but it is live 24/7.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

A nice day

Sunday was not much different than the other days.

Well yes, US Highway 19 there was a difference in that it had less traffic.  So I guess there's still quite a few people are still working and maybe they have Sunday off.

I'm still enjoying my walks along the sidewalk each morning.  I walk a little over 2 mile every morning and try not to walk any less.

So with my walking and watching the news about the Coronavirus that leaves little to blog about.

Oh I almost forgot to mention, the other day I did get under the motorhome to grease the front end grease plugs and also grease the slide pins with high temp grease.
That is  necessary, because if the brakes doesn't slide the pads will wear on one side and when braking the front wheels will pull to one side.

Thanks for stopping by and do have a great day.

Rain, lightning then clear

I was back up early Yesterday morning to do my walking.
The reason was that the weather report we had called for at 10:00 am we were suppose to get a rain storm and a lot of wind.

So after my walk and breakfast I was off to Rural King to get some drinking water.  The water there is $1.99 a case of 24.  By the time I got there it started to rain, but I made it in and out before it came down hard.

And the storm did start on the time that the weather people said it would.
It did clear up in a couple of hours and was nice the rest of the day.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Yeah, more walking

I grilled a couple of chicken breast Thursday and they really tasted good.

Nancy added fried potatoes and some peas, that with a roll was a plate full.   I did not grill the breast whole.  Instead I cut them cross wise, then put on Lawry's seasoned salt and garlic powder.  When they were finished grilling it really brought out some good taste.

Yesterday morning was a good walking day as I didn't get to hot.
As a matter of fact it was only around 65 degrees when I started my walking.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Still walking

I wanted to an early start yesterday because it was going to be another hot day.

Well the sun did come out as I was starting my walk.   All I can say what a beautiful way to start the day.   The sun just coming up, a palm tree to the left and to the right most of all "Old Glory flying" her colors in the wind. May she fly forever. Is there anything better than seeing that grand old flag flying.

The price of regular gas down another three cents in the last couple of days.

It was a good day walking and I got 2 miles in again.  I think it may be getting time to try and stretch it out a little more.

It was another stay at home day, but it may be getting time for another grocery run soon. I think it has been seven days since the last grocery shopping.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Walking and laundry.

Yesterday morning was like all mornings.  You know people get into a routine,  especially if you are retired.
Nancy and I have for years now have had our first half cup of coffee while sitting up in bed watching the morning news.
Then I usually get out of bed, get on the computer to check the emails and catch up on some blogs.
After a short time Nancy is up and get our breakfast.

Well in the last couple of weeks that has changed some what.  We still do the morning coffee, but I'm up and get ready for my 2 mile walk up and down the sidewalk.
After getting back home I do the computer thing, then its breakfast time.

My walking time takes me by the entrance to the Suncoast west beach Hudson, Florida.
Of course it is closed up like many other places.

I did get the time to slice the boneless ham that we had for Easter.

This picture was supposed to be in the Easter dinner blog.  But for some reason I couldn't get it to working that day.

I did some of the laundry yesterday and while looking out on the swimming pool.
The pool is locked up due to the pandemic, but we sure could use it now with the temperature being up to 90 the last few days.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Easter dinner

I hope all of you had a very good Easter.  I know it could have been better if everything was not upside down with this virus.

The first thing that I have been doing each morning is getting dressed to go for my morning walk.
This takes a little while because I go at least two miles and sometimes more.

When I get back home Nancy and I started our day with a breakfast biscuit, hers was with egg and bacon, mine was egg and sausage.
After eating breakfast, we were on our computers doing what we do each morning.  After a few hours it was time to get our Easter dinner into action.

Yeah, I know but what is Easter without a few Easter Eggs.  I took the easy way on these and used colored felt pens that I had.

I went to Sam's Club the other day and bought this slab of boneless ham.  It was smoked and just needed to be put in the oven for thirty minutes and it was ready to eat.
In the mean time Nancy was busy with the green beans, mashed potatoes and the time consuming deviled eggs.

We did have a nice little dinner, so the work putting it together was worth the effort.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Happy Easter

Yes, a very Happy Easter to all of you.  May this day be very special  for you and all your love ones.

After having my first cup of coffee yesterday morning I headed out for my morning walk.
This is what was facing me, I didn't know if I was going to get caught up in some rain or not, but I headed out anyway.
It really did not look like the sun was going to come out at all for the day.

This is the Show Palace that is located beside the park that we are in.
Of course it is like many of the places in the USA nothing going on inside because of the Corona Virus.
Other wise there would be a play posted for an evening event.

So anyway even though it was cloudy, there was a nice breeze as usual blowing and it sure felt good.
So good I walked all the way down to the RaceTrac, which is almost a mile from where we are parked for the winter.  And it looks like for the spring and no one knows for how long.

Oh, the sun did come out as I was walking back.

I last went to the store Friday, so I don't know when I will go again.  Our  cupboard is full, so is our freezer and we have enough toilet tissue.  So all is good around this place.

Thanks for stopping by and do have a great day.

Through the week

I've been getting out just a little bit.

Most of the time has been in the park.  But it gets tiresome looking at the same old thing' such as this old water tank.  The park is an old park and I guess at one time they may have had an old well and this was used to store water.

Lately I've been getting out on the sidewalk that runs parallel with US Highway 19.
Its a very good place to walk because there is always a breeze along the six lanes of traffic.
When we first got here back in 2001 there were two lanes going north and two lanes south bound.

Nice flowers along the sidewalk to enjoy, if you want to.

This one morning these two buzzards waiting on some roadkill for breakfast.

Here are some more wild flowers I almost missed.

I'm really enjoying my walking on the sidewalk,  because its seeing something different and the breeze really does feel good.

Thanks for stopping by and I do wish you a great day.

Off to the market I went

I hope all of you are safe and doing well.

I managed to stay in until yesterday when I set up my grill to do some grilling.
There was a pound of ground beef I took out of the freezer the night before, so patted out four nice patties for the grill. After seasoning them real good I realized that we didn't have tomatoes and a cheeseburger without a tomato just doesn't taste right.

So I got in the car and headed out for the roadside produce stand just fifteen minutes from the house.

As you can see I got more that tomatoes.  I came home with cucumbers, green peppers, pears, plums, corn on the cob and of course the tomatoes.
I was so in a hurry wanting to taste the very good cheeseburgers I forgot to take a photo.

This morning I extended my walking time by getting out on the sidewalk that is beside the highway.

I enjoyed the new walking range as I saw these wild flowers growing along the side walk.

Also these small violet flowers that do not show up very well in the photo.

With the walk along the highway I was able to extend my walking time as well as extend my distance.

I will no doubt get out to the store sometime in this week, as I found some face masks that I had put away from another project that I had been doing.

If you have to get out, please used some kind of face covering.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great day.

Around the house, mostly

We are pretty well stocked up on what we need, so I have not been out to the store since Tuesday.

The refrigerator freezer is well  stock with meat and a couple of frozen dinners and right now all is well.

I took some porkchops out yesterday and grilled them.  That with slaw that I had made earlier in the day.  Nancy put on pinto beans to cook, while the beans were cooking she made some cornbread.
All of that made a good meal or I should say two good meals because, we had enough left over for today.

As I was doing my morning walking yesterday and looking south it looked as though it might rain during the day.

But looking north it was more blue skies and that was the way it turned out! Blue skies the rest of the day.  And we are suppose to have sunny skies with middle 80's for a week.

I hope you people are well and happy because there's someone that is close to you that needs you hanging around.

Thanks for stopping by and do have a great day.
