Steak Dinner

Friday was the day we decided to have dinner at Sioux City Steak House.

We all ordered the everyday special 8oz Sirloin, here is Vicki waiting on hers.
I've eaten here several times and always have the steak cooked just right.

Here's my order, steak, slaw, baked potato with plenty of butter and crispy fried onions.
We all three ordered much the same thing. We could not eat all of it so some of it came home with us.

Vicki had to have a photo with the Buccaneer that's always at the door to great you.
A meal with the one's you love is always nice.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Trip to Cedar Key

Vicki, our first-born daughter arrived by plane from Lexington this past Sunday to spend a week with us and it was good to see her again.

Wednesday, we made a short trip up to Cedar Key so she could see what the town looked like since it has not changed from the old days.

But first we stopped to see this old engine in the small town of Gulf Hammock

Here's Nancy and Vicki standing in front of an old steam engine that used to haul trees to a near by sawmill all owned by the same company.

Front of the steam engine.

Couple of signs telling about the sawmill and town that the lumber company built.
You can click the photos to enlarge.

Here is the part of town that looks like it was built on stilts that stick out over the gulf waters.

We picked one of the restaurants to have our meal.

We watched the seagulls.

And pelicans as we enjoyed our meal.

Doctor appointments

Last Monday Nancy and I had a doctor's appointment mostly to get our prescriptions filled for our meds.
But of course, we both had other things to get checked on.

For Nancy it was her feet where she has been having a problem that Jeff (our PA) will have to keep a check on.
Then it was my turn which took up a lot of time, which I had to fill him in what has been happening to me.
After telling Jeff, he called the hospital to get all the information he set me up an appointment with a lung specialist to see what the spot on my lung all is about.

By the time we got out of the office 3 1/2 hours later we were both hungry, so we went to Applebee's
to have our meal which was good and very filling.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day day.

Sherry's back home in West Virginia

Sherry and I went to a new State Park (Werner Boyce) to check it out.

It has a nice kayak launch where you can go around in the mangrove bush for the day.

If you do not own a kayak, you can rent one here on site.

A nice boardwalk and several hiking trails that will be a good way to spend the day.

It was a bittersweet day this past Mondy as Sherry had to load up on a plane and go home.
She stayed a long time with us making sure that Nancy and myself could get along without her.

We left in time to visit John Chesnut Park where we had a nice time.
Sherry was tickled because she got to see a great number of squirrels playing around and not only seen alligator, but the alligator was trying to catch a squirrel upon the shore of the lake.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Have to stay busy doing something

I'm sorry folks I'm still not doing very much these days and I know it will take time to recover fully.
But stick with me through all this.

Yesterday I did get out to gauge up the air in the tires and clean out the inside of the car a little.

It was a big chore for me just to do that especially with the heat well into the middle 90's.
I'm not used to getting so wore down in such a short time.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Nice day and weather.

Still trying to hold back from over doing it.  But I'm still doing some small stuff around the house.

As you can see I have my appetite back.  I try to have something for breakfast each morning
Yesterday it was waffles and sausage to start the day.

Our daughter Sherry and I took a side road down by the gulf waters to see some new areas Sheryy has not seen.

Sherry likes to see boats and houses along the gulf.

Its always nice to get out and enjoy the day.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Improving and it feels good

Sherry and I have been going to the stores a little more, so I have been doing more walking.
I can tell I'm beginning to get stronger the last couple of days.

In fact I told Nancy that I believe I have turned the corner.  Yesterday morning I woke up around 1:30 am and as I was lying there, I started thinking what I could do when I got out of bed when daylight came around.  That sure sounds like my old self.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Another Great day

A few days ago, Sherry and I took time out to visit a nearby park.

I was wanting to go to a platform out over the water a little way up this walkway.   But first Sherry walked to see how far it as, she thought it might be a little too much of a strain for me so I said ok since I'm not to overdo it.

Bird enjoying the day.

Boats out for a nice day.

Nice flowers planted out around the park.

It was another great day to be out to enjoy the cool breeze off of the gulf waters.
Also people out in the park and small toddlers in the sand with grandpa and grandma taking care of them.

Just another great day.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Hanging on

I'm still hanging in there.  I think this is one of the toughest things I have faced.
My moods are jumping around from day to day and although I know that is going to be the case there's still nothing I can do except fight it.

The children thought this rainbow that was over and starting or ending over the house a nice thing to see.
I will tell you that there is no "pot of gold" on this end of it.

A beautiful sunset at the end of the day one evening after one of the many rainstorms we have been having.

I have not driven in almost a month and the Cardiologist said I should be able to around the last of this week.  So that give me something to look forward to.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Trying to get out more.

It been a tough couple of weeks getting used to having the ICD in my chest, but I'm coming along fine its just a slow process.
I've still got two weeks to go before the Cardiologist wants me to drive.
He wants to make sure that the wires coming from the ICD to my heart is set so I will not pull them out of the heart.
I also have to wear what I call a harness at bed time to keep me from accidently raising my arm over my head.

We've been having rain storms about every day.

Sherry and I did get a chance to go to the Serenova Tract to check it out.

A nice small lake for fishing,

Nice trails for hiking, bike riding or horse riding.

I sure love being out in the woods.

And of course another rain storm on the way home.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Sometimes life takes a different turn.

Well life does get in the way at times.

Last Monday a week ago as I was getting into bed I passed out. This was the second time the first being the last of March.  Both times while getting into bed.  Both times Nancy shaking me to wake me up.
Only this time I had slight pain in my chest.  We waited a half an hour then called the ambulance, which took me to the hospital.  After checking me with a blood pressure of 211/95, then an EKG and some more test.  No need to go over all the test.

Bottom line was I had to have a defibrillator implant done on Thursday.  So I guess you might say my heart short circuited out.

Thanks for stopping by and do have a great day
