Birds

Yesterday was spend walking in the John Chestnut Park. Usually walking along the boardwalks we get over run by squirrels, but this day just about the only thing on the railing was this tree growing out on to the rail. We did see a few squirrels though. This happened one time last year, don't know the reason for it.
Spotted the Blue Heron in the tree feeding two little ones that were still in the nest. I tryed to get a picture of the little ones but they were to far away to get a good focus on.

I think this is a Red Tail Hawk that swooped down on the rail. What amazed me was that it let me get to within 15 feet of it to get this picture. It did fly off to join another one that was in the trees.

As we were about to finish up on this trail this bird landed on a branch above our head. It was picking at a field mouse or some other small animal that it had caught for its meal.
We also saw a large Red Headed Woodpecker. It was a good day to be birding and walking the trails. This is the reason we like to go on the trails and walk more then we like to walk in the rv parks.
Today we are having a parade in the park so we will watch it for our intertainment. It is a lot of fun seeing the different floats and all the rest of the parade.
