The Weather

That's about all that changes around here is the weather.
The other morning the sea fog was so heavy that I couldn't see the fifth house down the street.  The temps have been close to 80 the last few days and today it is raining off and on with the temp at 71.
Yesterday Nancy had the pain nerve in her back on the right side cut with laser and in two weeks she goes in to have the left side cut. The doc said this should last for a year maybe a little longer.  This should ease the pain in her back.
Other then that we are doing ok, so I guess we will be satisfied with it.
I will be making cabbage rolls tomorrow evening the same as I have for the last fifty seven years.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Merry Christmas

First thing Nancy and I want to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas.  You are the best.
Nancy and I took a drive down all the streets in the park to look at all the lights.  So I will let you see some of them.
This is looking down the street from our carport. the lighted milk jugs all along every street.

10th street

Thanks for stopping by and have a great and special day.

Saturday again

Here it is Saturday again. It seems as though the days, weeks and years are coming a lot closer than they use to. Time is just flying by these days. Since its Saturday its college basketball day today and the games are getting better because the teams are getting into their conference games.
The strip mall across the road was really going downhill with a bunch of the store sites being empty until the Hobby Lobby came along and it got a little better. Then Walmart decided it would be a good place to put in one of the Walmart Village Markets. That's when thing really started jumping. The empty store sites are filling up and the parking area has a complete renovation with the lot being paved, nice palm trees planted it looks like a different place.
Nancy is going to get a pain block shot on the 30th of the month and another one two weeks later. The doctor told her it should last her for a year and needless to say she is excited about that. The shots she had where just to see which one would work and the one that did work for a couple of days she said that was the best she had felt in years. So it looks like a good year ahead for her.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Another good day

Yesterday morning the day was started out with a bit of fog. In a couple of hours it was gone so the day was pleasant and sunny.
There was a section of the Christmas lights on the carport that were not burning so I got the ladder out to check that problem. After taking out around 20 bulbs and checking them I found the one that was causing the problem and all was good with that.
Next it was cleaning the gutters out which didn't take very long to do.
By that time Nancy was ready to go to Walmart to do some grocery shopping.  First though we stopped at the roadside market for some fruit and vegetables. By the time we were finished at Walmart Nancy was getting hungry so we made a stop at Pizza Hut to get their Tuesday special the double dish pasta meal and garlic bread.  One side was chicken with alfredo sauce and the other with marinara sauce. After that it was the end to another day.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Gas and Christmas

I imagine the gas prices are going down in your area also.  They are going down here in New Port Richey, Florida to, but it seems as though someone is twisting their arms because the price is going down so slow.
There are the usuall fender bender accidents going on with the large amount of traffic we have here.
The park has a Christmas tree, but in our case its a palm tree.  Whatever works, right?
They've even changed out the street lights where we have one green and one red along with a white one.
I finally got around to putting our little tree up.  Yeah I know you're thinking where are the presents. The presents will come later.
How about you are you looking forward to Christmas.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Christmas lights

I've been busy putting up Christmas lights around the carport.  Nancy likes for me to put up a bunch of them.  She says a lot of lights makes her happy. I like them also but going up and down the ladder does get kind of hard on the old legs.  We still have the four foot tree to put up.
With the tree light we will have 1800 lights lighting up the night.
Today Nancy will be having her hair cut and also this time she will also let the beautician color her hair.  She has always color her hair, but with all her pain she decided to get it done with getting the hair cut.

Thanks for atopping by and have a great day.

Out for the day

Thursday we did get down to the Quality Sausage House but first we stopped in at the John Chesnut Park. Nancy was wanting to walk a little bit and since it was on our side of the road it was no problem.
It was good to see that the green pollen was gone from the top of the water. It was nice to see the reflection of the sky and trees in the water.
There were a couple of gators swimming around.
After getting the things we wanted from the Sausage House we went to the Phillippe Park which was close by to walk.
It was a very nice day to be out after being in and around the house for so long.
There was only one boat with a couple of guys cruising around on the bay.
We had a nice day out, but Nancy could feel it in her body the next day.  She said it was worth it though to be able to get out. One of the pain blocker shots was work very good she said.  They gave her two different shots which work on different days.
I don't have any idea how that works.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Doctors

Not real busy, just a little bit.
Rudy and I ran around some Monday going to three or four different stores to buy some things that were in each of the stores.  That took up several hours.
I also pulled the tree and vines out from the back of the house to the front where the park workers could put it in their buggy to haul to the large trash bin to be taken away.  They had kind of a rough time getting it on and to stay on while they went down the street.
Tuesday Nancy and I went to the spine clinic so she could have a pain block shot for her back.  She thought it would be one shot but she had several shots on each side of her back include numbing shots before they did the main shots.
Yesterday it was to the kidney doctor so she could get a report on the blood work.  The doctor said for the most part Nancy was holding her own with only her potassium being elevated somewhat.
We were glad with the report.
We are going to try to get down to the Quality Sausage House today for a few items that we like to eat.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Regular weekend

The weather is still a little chilly so staying in more than usual.  Nancy has caught some kind of virus and is down a little, but she was feeling better yesterday.
The weekend is going about like all the weekends this time of year.
I'm watching the college football and basketball game.  Nancy is reading and on her computer.  For someone that didn't want a computer because she said "I will never learn how to use this thing" she is doing good on it.  She likes to stay in her comfort zone most of the time and not venture out into anything.  There is a lot of people like her. I know some men that don't want to try to repair things because they are afraid of messing it up. Hey its already not working how are you going to mess it up?  I remember a repair shop that I worked in one time a guy come in with a box of parts and said, "can you fix this"?  I said can you tell me what is it suppose to do?  I had no idea what it was.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Happy Thanksgiving

I know I'm late posting, but I had to take care of other things first. We have so many things to be thankful for and I am thankful.
Not to thankful for turning the small electric heater on and it kicked the breaker.
Not thankful that it wasn't the breaker but the power was out in the bedroom.
Not thankful because I had to roll around under the house for some time checking the wiring.
But a big THANKFUL that I found and did a repair on the problem and everything is back to normal, whatever normal is.
I picked up a carryout turkey order from Bob Evans and Nancy made some good sides. We had our dinner just the two of us as it has been for years. There was enough left over for dinner tomorrow and that's about normal for thanksgiving.
I hope you have had a great day with the one or ones you love.
Thanks for stopping by.

Was cold now raining

Still cutting on the tree with the vines.  Of the three days that it was cold and windy I didn't get out very much.  Just went to the store a few times to get the groceries that keep coming up missing when I went the other day.  Its that happens all the time.  You go to the store buy a load of groceries and the very next day you have to go and buy something else you need.  Or is it something else you want instead of need?
Yesterday was a few college basketball games on television I watched.  Today it will be college football and it looks like a good day to do that.  The reason being its raining this morning and looks like it will be all day long.  I probably will have to get out and go to the store for something!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Lot of rain

With the weather forecast yesterday calling for afternoon thunder storms and very windy by afternoon. My neighbor Rudy and I went to the store early to do our shopping so we could be back and settled in before it all hit. We did make it with a little time to spare.  Its a good thing that we did go early because the sky opened up and there was a really downpour, which lasted most of the day.
The weather the next couple of days is going to be like most of you will be having but not as cold.
The temp for tomorrow morning will be 35 degrees. I know you are saying that's not bad. Hey folks this is Florida and that is not suppose to be that cold.
Well the old fella (me) has a couple of college basketball games tonight to watch so I will be much satisfied. I know it doesn't seem like it is very exciting to you but we all have our thing to do, right?

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

College games

Yesterday I cut down the other tree that was standing and growing more toward the house.  I should say I cut it but not down, as it didn't fall down?  The tree has a lot of vines that is holding it up so this is going to take some time to cut it up and get hauled off.
I watched a couple of college basketball games last night it being the start of the season.  The games went as expected. The stronger teams playing the weaker teams as the start the season. The games I watched the teams won by 40-70 points so I couldn't get excited about that.
Today will be all day college football games again with a couple of interesting games.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Thank you Veterans

First and foremost thanks to all the vets.  I would hate to think what this great land of ours would be without our veterans.
Yesterday started of with me taking our neighbor Rudy to get his 30lb propane tank filled and hooked back up.
Then in a short while Nancy and I went to see her spine doctor. Nancy told him how she has been feeling and he has her scheduled for a pain block injection. He said he used to do them but doesn't anymore. He is really busy with the spine operations he does and he is also doing the stem cell work.
Nancy also had the stimulator implant adjusted to see if it would work better on her back.
From there it was to have dinner at Bob Evans that was actually breakfast since I had a buy one get one free breakfast coupon. Then it was to Walgreens to pick up our prescriptions for the month.
By the time we got back home it was dark so we spend the rest of the evening watch television.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

One tree gone

Friday I cut a tree down that was beginning to grow close to the back of the house.  Then I had to cut it into smaller pieces so I could pull it to the front of the house for the park workers to haul it off.  It was a little difficult because the tree had vines growing all over it.
Of course I watched college football most of the day yesterday and some were good, some not so good.  My real passion is college basketball and that happens this coming Friday when the basketball season starts.
We had some rain last night for about four hours and this morning it is a cool 60 degree temp.
I hope your weekend is going good.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Walking a little

Mostly hanging around doing some inside work and going to the store a couple of days a week.
The gas prices are hung up on $2.75 a gallon now for about four days.
Temps have gone back up to the middle 70's which feel nice.
Nancy felt like doing some walking yesterday evening.  She used her walker and did good walking the outer section of the park. She was tired by the time we finished but she made it which is real good for her.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Cold here

Saturday was a full day of watching college football games as every Saturday is.
Sunday was probably the same as a large percentage of what a lot of people did in that the weather had turned cold was to stay inside. It got down to 46 here in New Port Richey Florida.  I know you had it colder but for here that is mighty cold. The high for yesterday was only 68 and sunny so it seemed a lot warmer.
My neighbor Rudy who is 87 years old was needing to go to the store so after doing the things I do each morning off we went to a couple of different stores. Rudy usually drives his truck down from Pennsylvania, but this year he took the airplane down. He says his son told him that he was getting to old to be doing all that driving.
While I was at the store I did a little shopping myself for all the thing to make spaghetti.
So yesterday Nancy made a big pot of spaghetti which I really enjoyed.  That gal can really cook when she wants to.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Thursday and Friday

Nancy and I went to the First Quality Sausage House Thursday to buy me some Hungarian things to eat. I like to buy it and as I told Nancy when I eat it, it brings back a lot of memories.
On our way there we stopped in at the John Chesnut Park to look around a bit.
What surprised us was the amount of deer in the park. We counted 20 deer as we drove thru the park.
The deer were not frightened at our presence.
We saw an alligator as we were walking on the elevated walkway. When the gator spotted us it started swimming toward us.

On Friday we went to the Rheumatologist That our doctor had set up an appointment for us with.
First he checked Nancy and told her that her back was a mess, which she already knew. He did prescribe her some pain pill and told her it wouldn't affect her kidneys. So we will wait and see.
He then checked the x-rays and MRI on the shoulder that I have been having the pain. Well I have bone spurs, stretched ligaments and a tear on the rotor cuff. He was surprised that it only hurt on occasions and not all the time. He said he could operate and fix it but he doesn't recommend it at this time.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Arthritis

The weather here is still nice in the 80's while the temps up north are getting cooler.
Our doctor is made an appointment with another doctor to see about the arthritis we have. Man it is tough getting older. Nancy has dealt with this for years, but it is new stuff for me.
The median with the flowers look nice here in New Port Richey. It still seems strange to me to see people buying flowers to plant instead of getting ready for winter.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Hanging out

Everything is pretty much the same here.
We had to go to the store Friday to stock up on groceries.  Actually it was to Walmart for some things that Nancy says Walmart only have or is the best price.  From Walmart to Save A Lot for our can vegetables and bottled water.
Saturday was my day to watch college football.  So watching football and eating hotdogs with homemade chili that Nancy had fixed earlier.  As they say priceless.
Today we have our doctor appointment. Nothing special just our back in Florida appointment.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Around town

The weather here in Florida is nice for this time of year.  Daytime temps are around 82 and the nighttime is 65.  A little warm in the day but night time is good sleeping temps.
The price of gas is still slowly coming down. I don't know how long it will last but we can enjoy these prices as long as they last.
Nancy and I did stop and set on a bench to enjoy the bay water and the cool breeze which felt real good.  We did this on the way to Walmart the other day.
We both are still tired Nancy more so than I.  I do gain a little strength back but Nancy can't seem to get her strength back no matter how much she sits and rest.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Sore and slow

We have the motorhome unpacked and moved to its location until we get ready to use it again. Now we have a mess in the house to take care of.  I've still had to go to the motorhome and get a few things that we forgot to bring in and taking the sheets and things that we had to clean that stays in the motorhome.
Nancy cooked me a large pot of cabbage and noodles to eat on while I watched my college football game yesterday. We are still in the tired and slow mode. But we'll get finished some time.
The people from the north are slowly coming in for the winter. As the temperature gets colder more will show up.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Back home

We left Valdosta Monday and drove as far as Bushnell, Florida. We stay at the Breezy Oaks R V Park so we can have a full day unpacking the motorhome when we get to Orchid Lake R V Resort.
That is a good thing to do but we cannot do it all in one day. We kind of worked ourselves down Tuesday so we didn't get very much work done yesterday. No problem though there is no time limit on getting it finished and the motorhome parked.  I did have to go to the store yesterday to stock up on groceries while Nancy was doing the laundry all day. Today will be more of the same.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Great Grandchildren

After the meal Saturday evening and then visiting it was time to go home again. The two great grandchildren wanted to stay with us overnight in the motorhome so we said it would be alright they enjoyed the night with us.
Sunday while Nancy was getting ready I took the kids over to Banks Lake National Wildlife Refuge.
There was an exercise course and the children enjoyed that part as you can see them at the bars.
The lake was simple beautiful, the trees look like they were embedded in a mirror. Not a ripple on the lake.
This is south folks look at the moss hanging from the trees.

Some guys out enjoying the nice sunny day.
After staying around the lake the kids wanted to hike one of the trails so off we went. This trail had a boardwalk along some of the trail.
After a couple of hours in the hot day we were ready to go back to the motorhome. We did bring a bottle of cold water with us that went down nice and cool after the hike.
This was a good day with the kids and I'm sure it is one day they will remember.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Eat, eat and eating

We arrived in Valdosta a couple of hours after filling up the motorhome with fuel.
After checking in at the office of Cains Creekside R V Park we moved to our site.  Then it was unhooking the car, leveling the motorhome hooking into the water, electric and sewer, extending the slides it was time to go meet Jeremy at exit 22.  He and Allison wanted to take us to Ichiban Japanese Steakhouse.  Let me tell you the food was delicious and enough for two or more people. Nancy and I both could eat only half of our food. It was the first time we had yum yum sauce and I can see how it got the name.  After dinner it was a little late plus Nancy was hurting somewhat so we came back home.
Yesterday after visiting for a while Allison and Jeremy took us to Rays Millpond Restaurant. I didn't think we were going to get to it but after going from the highway to a small gravel road then a dirt road we made it.  Folks this place with no road signs and you have to be told about it and how to get there was crowded that I say 40 cars or more.  When it was time to order the waitress asked me if I wanted cheese or butter with my grits. I was surprised because I only eat grit at breakfast. I forgot that these southern people eat grits at every meal, I said butter.  It was another good meal and another good day.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Time moves on

Here is an old train depot located in Gray, Georgia that we passed the town on the way to Warner Robins. You don't see anything like this when you travel the interstates.
The gas prices are falling slow real slow. I am glad for that.
Our time here with Nick and Joan is coming to a close as we will be leaving tomorrow.
We will be in Valdosta sometime tomorrow evening to see Jeremy for a few days. He called yesterday and is anxious to see us as we are him.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Warner Robins,Georgia

We left the Lake Sinclair campground Friday and drove the short 72 miles to Warner Robins where my brother lives. We will be here until Friday at which time we will go down to Valdosta for a short visit with our grandson Jeremy and the two great grand children.
It is good to be here to visit with Nick and Joan. We haven't seen them for a year. We usually stop to see them on the way up north but they where gone on vacation.
The time here would be better but my shoulder is acting up again and every time I get up to do much of anything it hurts like you would not believe.  I'm putting off going to the doctor until I get back down to Florida because it will take more tests and x rays to find the problem causing the pain.
Getting older is tough.
It is the same when we visit here in that we over eat. For some reason Nick and Joan must think that we never eat because they are always asking us if we want anything to eat or snack on. We sure enjoy their kindness.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Surprise

We did make it to Sinclair Lake and got a site with electric. We didn't get the site we usually stay on which is site 4. We had to get the site next to it which is number 5. The big surprise is we have phone service and also the HotSpot WiFi works at this site. You wouldn't think one site over would make a difference. Of course they are always upgrading and adding towers so that could be the answer.
Today we will make a run into Milledgeville to do the laundry.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Through Helen, Georgia

Yesterday we left Thunder Rock Campground heading farther south.
Saturday though we took one last ride around a country road to see what we could see. It always does amaze what beautiful scenes await us in between the mountains.
We saw several wild turkey. Here was one bunch of them.
I really enjoyed my time at Thunder Rock.  The weekend crowd did come in to go kayaking and do the white water rafting.
I drove through Helen, Georgia again since it has been a couple of years.
I thought the town would be crowded since they were having the Oktoberfest until the end of October.  Maybe it being a Sunday was the reason.
The streets were not crowded but I could see inside the pubs they were having a pint or two.
We got as far as Commerce and spent the night at the Walmart.  Today we will go down to Sinclair Lake and stay a week.  We enjoy the lake very much and the campground is never really crowded.
The only thing is we will not have phone or wifi service in the campground.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Thunder Rock Campground

We arrived at the Thunder Rock Campground in the Cherokee National Forest on Wednesday.
We have the same camp site that we had when we were here a couple of years ago.
It is nice and quiet here with no one else but the camp host and us. There are no hookups here so we are really boondocking. We have no problems though because we have the solar panels to charge the batteries and the 1500 watt inverter plus a couple of smaller inverters.
The wifi hotspot we have is hit and miss and when it is hit it is very slow. We do not have a signal for our cell phone.  We are roughing it smoothly though. We will be here a few more days.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Gone fishing

Friday  our grandson Haven came over to spend the night with us. He always has spend a night or two when we are in the area.
So Saturday morning he and I went to do some fishing. The little fella is not so little now he is almost as tall as me and still growing.
We sat on the river bank throwing a line in and pulling it back in from time to time. We didn't catch anything.  We did make some memories that will last a lifetime though.
After we got back to the motorhome Haven said he would like burgers to eat so it was burgers on the grill. I ate a couple of the burgers and Haven had a couple also.   The burgers always taste better when cooked on the grill and these tasted real good.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

The Great Smoky Mountains

Thursday we decided to be tourist, so we drove over the Smoky Mountains.
It was through Gatlinburg where they have all the pumpkins and fall decorations in place that makes the town look very nice.
After Gatlinburg we entered the Great Smoky Mountain National Park.
When we are in the area I like to take a drive to the top and look over the mountains. When I was working and we went to Florida for our vacation it was always over the Smoky Mountains never getting tired of the scenery.
I drove on over to the North Carolina side on the way to Cherokee. The small waterfalls coming out of the mountains always makes a nice photo. There were several taking a photo of this waterfall.
We entered Cherokee saw the sign above of the ongoing play they have. We saw this play years ago and it is worth the admission so if you get a chance to see it you will not be disappointed.
We took the old route around Cherokee and came to the new route where we came to Harrah's Casino. No we didn't stop so we kept all our money.
Coming back over the mountain I took several photos of the North Carolina side.

The mountain streams were flowing slow for the lack of water.
What few fall wild flowers they are look nice.
We had a very nice day but Nancy as usual was tired to the bone by the time we got back home.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.
