Using the old grill.

I'm still just staying a little busy on some necessary things.

Like grilling some steaks for dinner.

Two nice size Sirloins so we only ate one of them and the other the next day.
they were a a good price so I could not turn them down. Like cheaper than the price of chicken.

Then there was a day grilling ground for some cheeseburgers.  It's just hard to turn down meat selling for a bargain.

Looks like the burgers are ready to take up.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Back to walking

I seem too finally beginning to be getting stronger as each day goes by so Sunday, I decided to do a little walking.

I thought James E Grey Preserve would be a good place to go to.

To the starting area there is a board because that's where the river backs up to make it swampy.

There are different kind of berries along the trails and the birds seem to be enjoying eating them.

More berries.

In some places the swamp is 3-4 foot deep.

Near the end of the boardwalk is a covered resting place.

Start of the dirt trail.

Couple of benches by the water for a relaxing rest.

Kayak launch to make it easy to put kayak in the water.

Here are a couple of kayakers enjoying the water and a very nice day.

My short walk ended up being two miles long.  I have to tell you my legs could feel it Monday morning.

Thanks for stopping and have a great day.

Cooler weather

The weather has changed to fall of the year with a temperature of 62* this morning.   The temperature forecasted for tonight is supposed to get down to 59*.
Now that is beginning to feel more like winter for us here in Florida.

I don't know if it was the cooler weather or what, but I felt like making some of my almost famous macaroni salad.
I say that because in the wintertime is when I put it all together.
It usually takes me around two and a half hours to finish it because I have to dice up all the vegetable that go into the salad.

Even though the weather has turned cooler we have not had to turn our heat on because the temperature is in the eighties in the daytime.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Hurricane Ian

After keeping an eye on Hurricane Ian for a few days Nancy and I decided we would take our grandson's offer to come to their house in Hahira, Georgia until it was safe to return to our place in Port Richey, Florida.

We are located just north of Tampa, so it was supposed to hit us hard also.
But as you know by now Hurricane Ian had different plans of jumping all over the place and keeping the Hurricane experts guessing where it was going.

I have camera's set up at our place where I can keep an eye on things.  Yesterday it was raining down there but today looks like its dry but still with a lot of wind, so we are staying maybe until Saturday.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Doctor's too many times.

It seems we are always seeing the doctor.

Last Tuesday both of us were at the doctor to see what our blood work was all about.  The doctor said everything looked ok, but Nancy's legs have been bothering her, so he ordered up an ultrasound for her.

As for me my left arm has been swelling up for three weeks, so it was an ultrasound for me also.
The thing that puzzled me though was that my appointment was a month off.

Well, I woke up at 5:30 Saturday morning with a terrible nosebleed so after twenty minutes I told Nancy to call the ambulance. When it arrived the told me several things to as holding my nose, when all that didn't work after trying all that they decided to take me to the hospital emergency.

At the hospital after an hour had gone by, they used some liquid aspirin to quit in my nose the nose q0uit bleeding.
So, with all that I showed the doctor my arm and he said they could go a held and do an ultrasound on it. The ultrasound showed no blockage, so what's up with my arm anyway.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Vicki is back home

I took Vicki down to the St Pete airport last Sunday to catch a plane home.  Nancy wasn't feeling well so I was by myself on the way back home.
But before doing that Vicki and I stopped off at Central Station for an early dinner.  She had the Country Steak with mashed potato and gravy, I had a 1-pound Ground Steak with mashed potato.
This was the first time I've seen a full pound Ground Steak for dinner and needless to say I had to bring half of it home with me.

Nancy and I had a good time with Vicki visiting but the time was too short as it always is when our children visit us.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Steak Dinner

Friday was the day we decided to have dinner at Sioux City Steak House.

We all ordered the everyday special 8oz Sirloin, here is Vicki waiting on hers.
I've eaten here several times and always have the steak cooked just right.

Here's my order, steak, slaw, baked potato with plenty of butter and crispy fried onions.
We all three ordered much the same thing. We could not eat all of it so some of it came home with us.

Vicki had to have a photo with the Buccaneer that's always at the door to great you.
A meal with the one's you love is always nice.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Trip to Cedar Key

Vicki, our first-born daughter arrived by plane from Lexington this past Sunday to spend a week with us and it was good to see her again.

Wednesday, we made a short trip up to Cedar Key so she could see what the town looked like since it has not changed from the old days.

But first we stopped to see this old engine in the small town of Gulf Hammock

Here's Nancy and Vicki standing in front of an old steam engine that used to haul trees to a near by sawmill all owned by the same company.

Front of the steam engine.

Couple of signs telling about the sawmill and town that the lumber company built.
You can click the photos to enlarge.

Here is the part of town that looks like it was built on stilts that stick out over the gulf waters.

We picked one of the restaurants to have our meal.

We watched the seagulls.

And pelicans as we enjoyed our meal.

Doctor appointments

Last Monday Nancy and I had a doctor's appointment mostly to get our prescriptions filled for our meds.
But of course, we both had other things to get checked on.

For Nancy it was her feet where she has been having a problem that Jeff (our PA) will have to keep a check on.
Then it was my turn which took up a lot of time, which I had to fill him in what has been happening to me.
After telling Jeff, he called the hospital to get all the information he set me up an appointment with a lung specialist to see what the spot on my lung all is about.

By the time we got out of the office 3 1/2 hours later we were both hungry, so we went to Applebee's
to have our meal which was good and very filling.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day day.

Sherry's back home in West Virginia

Sherry and I went to a new State Park (Werner Boyce) to check it out.

It has a nice kayak launch where you can go around in the mangrove bush for the day.

If you do not own a kayak, you can rent one here on site.

A nice boardwalk and several hiking trails that will be a good way to spend the day.

It was a bittersweet day this past Mondy as Sherry had to load up on a plane and go home.
She stayed a long time with us making sure that Nancy and myself could get along without her.

We left in time to visit John Chesnut Park where we had a nice time.
Sherry was tickled because she got to see a great number of squirrels playing around and not only seen alligator, but the alligator was trying to catch a squirrel upon the shore of the lake.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Have to stay busy doing something

I'm sorry folks I'm still not doing very much these days and I know it will take time to recover fully.
But stick with me through all this.

Yesterday I did get out to gauge up the air in the tires and clean out the inside of the car a little.

It was a big chore for me just to do that especially with the heat well into the middle 90's.
I'm not used to getting so wore down in such a short time.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.
