Lot of Critters

After Nancy had an MRI of her shoulder we went down to John Chestnut Park to walk.

We took the trail that is 3 miles first. We sa this large Red Headed Wood Pecker on the ground looking for insects.
Of course we always see the lizards running all over the place. I bought some critter food to give to the squirrels and birds.

Even so some Dragon Flies today. This is the first photo I have taken of a Dragon Fly.

Here is a small Red Headed Wood Pecker that came down on the railing for some seeds. Where the large ones are 18" long the small ones are about 6" long. They look the same the difference is size and the large ones have a nice crown on their heads.

After the long trail we started out the shorter trail and saw a Roseate Spoonbill. This is twice we have seen these down here.

We got half way around the boardwalk and then we saw this snake and that was the finish of the trail for us. We don't like to fool with snakes so we doubled back and that was the trail walking for the day. We have encountered a few snakes in our walking in the woods, but we continue to walk out in them. It is so much fun the watch the wildlife.
We are going to try and get out to J B Starkey Park to watch the Civil War Re-enactment today.
