Vicki's Visiting

Yesterday we had a little rain. Nancy and I did get to walk some in the mall.
We picked our daughter Vicki up at the Clearwater St. Pete Airport last night at !0:30 pm but by the time she got her lugage it was 11:00. We got back home close to midnight,so we were pretty well worn out.
Today we took our time getting ready and after getting ready we took Vicki down To Chestnut Park were we walked the trails. On the way back we had dinner at Christo's.

Nice Day

Yesterday morning it was 65° so I told Nancy with it being so warm something must be blowing in.

In the afternoon we went walking again today it was down to John Chestnut Park That sits along Tarpon Lake. As we crossed the bridge to go to the walking trail we saw these turtles on a log getting some sun,

The lily pads floating on the water looked nice.

The wildflowers were out in all their beauty. We had a very good walk as the weather was sunny and a soft warm breeze was blowing.

James E. Grey Preserve

Yesterday morning started out with the usual breakfast, then because it was tuesday a day which we can wash our cars here in the park,I washed the car.
75° here at 10:30 am. It sure feels better then the people up north where the temp was 24°.
In the afternoon we went to the James E. Grey Preserve to do some walking.
This is another place we like to walk. We didn't see wild animals today. Some of the paths are wide and dirt walking.
Then some of it along close to the river is a nice new boardwalk. You can get some nice views walking the boardwalk.

Blood Work

Yesterday we had to wake up early to go and get our bloodwork taken care of. The nurse had a hard time getting enough blood out of my arm for some reason. She said she thought she had enough to have it checked. I used to be able to fill one of those little tubes in no time at all. One thing I never could understand is why they have to take so much blood when all they need is a little bit to check to see what you have or don't have. Of course theres a lot of things I do not understand. From there we stopped at a small restuarant for breakfast. the lady took our order and by the time we had drank half of our coffee she was bringing our order. This was the fastest service we have ever had. When we got back home we changed clothes and went out to J B Starkey Park to do some walking.

Friends

Saturday Lena and Earl came over from Zepherhills to visit and go to the flea market. Nancy bought a few things and being watchful of what I spend(Nancy calls me a cheapskate) I bought a VCR. When I got home and tried it out I couldn't get it to come up on the tv screen. No problem I'll take it back tomorrow.
After church we went to dinner with our friends Lee and Hazel. Then it was off to the flea market to exchange the VCR. I found another but it didn't look as good as the first one I had so I told the lady to hook up the one I had to see if she could get it to work. Well yep it worked for her,I says put a tape in see if it plays. yep again real nice so I says I'll take it back. I came home hooked every thing up and what do you know I get the menu on the tv. I put in a tape to play and the thing is all messed up,the speech is garbled the picture all streakie. not one bit good. I'm not taking it back,to the trash pile it goes.
I hope you have a good day.

Warmer

Yesterday morning was not as cold as the previous morning it was way up to 33°.
After we ate lunch we went down to John Chestnut Park that sets along side of Tarpon Lake to do some walking.
We just saw the usual things like this cardinal that was flying around looking at us.
And this squirrel that wanted me to take a close up picture of him.
On the way back we stopped and did some grocery shopping in Walmarts. The rest of the evening was eating supper and watching tv.

Cold weather got me

Yesterday morning and it was 30°. The cold didn't exactly get me but it got my tomato plants. I had them covered some but I guess the cold was long enough to do the damage. Man the tomatoes were nice and green and almost ready to turn red. I will just have to get some more and start over. The sun came out and warmed up to around 55 °.

Yes it does get cold in Florida. We woke up to 34° yesterday morning. The weather people promised us that we would be in the 70s by the weekend so I guess we can handle that.

New President

Good luck President Obama. Like most of the world we watched as we got a new president put in office and like the others before him we hope the best for him and our country.
It was cold and very windy all day yesterday and we are suppose to have freezing weather for the night. I just hope my tomato plants can fight through it. Tonight and tomorrow night its cold weather then it starts to warm back up to normal temps,I can hardly wait for that.

Aripeka,Florida

Yesterday it was windy most of the day and the temp was around 65°. We went 15 miles north of were we are on a side road to visit the community of Aripeka. This is a small town that time has about forgotten. It looks about the same as it was 50 or so years ago. If you want to see how Florida looked at that time this is the place to visit.

The gulf canal comes in under a couple of bridges in the town and the people will be there on the bridges fishing anytime you are going through. No super highways here just a two lane road with a speed limit of 35 MPH.
North of town there is a nice little park, here is a tower that is several stories high where you can climb to get a good view.
As you can see from this advantage point you can see the gulf. You can also see across the highway is a parking place where you can fish off of a wooden walkway and you can launch your boat to go out through the canal into the gulf. A very nice place to spend a little time. We had a nice time in this short drive from the house.
On the way back I stopped to se what Circuit City had on the liquidation sale. I was very surprised to see only a 10% mark down in the sale. Not much of a sale. You could do better buying somewhere else. From there we stopped and bought a pizza for our dinner.
