Conaway Run Lake

After getting into West Virginia and a couple of very nice days of visiting with Nancy's sister Callie we were on our way.

The mountain roads and roads across mountains I know my fuel mileage is going to be down.

We got the kids home and after unloading all the stuff they had in the car and motorhome I must be 1000 lbs. lighter.

We are parked in a very nice wildlife management area out in the boonies. We don't have a cell phone signal out here and no connections of any kind, very remote. I'm at Dee's house now with dail up connection so I don't know how many times I will be posting for the next week.

North Carolina to Virginia and West Virginia

After a nights rest at the WalMart in Belmont,NC we were on our way again yesterday.

As we traveled north of Charlotte on I-77 we came to Lake Norman. It has been more than a lot of years that we traveled this road and the area has build up with condos on the lake. Of course I-77 is still the same rough road as it has been for years.
Although the roadway could stand a lot of work the scenery is beautiful.

Soon we were in Virginia and I thought the little ones needed to get out and run off some energy.

Also what kid doesn't like a picnic. Here we are on a picnic and the kids got to use their new lunch boxes.

I thought they only had a few picnic tables, but a path leading up the hill proved me wrong. There were tables scattered out under the trees and they were set up really nice with the paved paths and the rock wall. A very nice rest area.
In Wytheville,Va I stopped for fuel at the FlyingJ at the price of $3.65 cash.
We got to Nancy's sister Callie and are stay here for a couple of nights before still going north.

Traveling Along

We got started at 11:00am today,as we were leaving Warner Robins this plane came across in front of us.
I took rt.129 north. I like this road, the road side stands that sell everything including boiled peanuts. I stopped and got gas at a Flying J in north Georgia for $3.73 a gallon.

I traved I-85 north east and soon we were in South Carolina.

Here is a water tower that looks like a gaint peach.

We traved a short distance a soon was in North Carolina where we are spending the night a the WalMart in Belmont. A long day on the road.

A Long Day Tomorrow

Well it is time to get moving again. We will be going north again tomorrow on RT 129 until we get to I-85. It will be a long day driving tomorrow. The time here was great as usuall and they always feed us to much. We feel so welcome when we stop to visit Nick and Joan. The great grandkids had a ball with the swimming pool and all the toys to play with. I think they would stay here a very long time and not want to go home. Maybe we can stay longer when we come back this way headed back to Florida.

Still going north

We left Valdosta around 12:00 an headed north on I-75. We stopped an hour later and had a bite to eat at a rest area, ater eating I dumped the tanks and we were on our way again. The next stop was at a Love's station for gas at the price of $3.89.

Once again on the interstate and a stop in Perry,Ga. which is known for its many rv rally's. We went to the WalMart and stocked back up with some groceries. We arrived at my brother Nick's house at 4:00 and a total of 136 miles for the day. We will stay here for a few days before we start out north again.

Little helpers

I said that I've been cleaning on the motorhome. I failed to mention that I had some little helpers that were intent on helping great grandpa. Of course after a short while they wanted to know how much I was going to pay them.
We went to church with Sherry this morning and after church we met at Jeremy's. Hannah was having her a birthday party she is 4 years old. Oh,this great grandchildren are making Nancy and me feel old. We will leave here tomorrow and go north on I-75 to stop and visit my brother Nick in Warner Robins,Georgia.

Busy Day

I finished one side of the motorhome with the polishing and rubbing. It just takes a while to get it all cleaned up and I'm a tad slow. Around noon time we went over to Sherrys so Nancy could get all the clothes washed up before we leave monday. After Sherry came home from work we went out to Pizza Hut to celebrate our granddaughter Dee's birthday. After that we had to stop in WalMart to get a few things and time we got home it was a little after 9:00. Another busy day.

More Work

I didn't know that there was so much to do on the motorhome. Not living in it for 2 months there was some catching up to do. When you stay in it fulltime you can do a little each day and that way it seems to not be a lot of work. I checked the fluid in the emergency brake and polish on the cap on the back end. After doing my work we went over to Sherrys then we all went out to Zaxby's to eat. Their chicken dinners are good.
Mygrandson lives close to Moody Air Base here in Valdosta, I enjoy seeing the choppers and planes go over. I especially like the large prop planes.

Driving through Valdosta

I've got some of my work caught up on the motorhome. I've changed the oil and greased the chassis joints. Now I'm good to go for a few thousands miles before I have to do it all over again.

Valdosta town has a speed limit of 25mph and by looking at the radar I'm not speeding.
Maybe they want you to slow down so you can go into the Carnegie Library to read a little.

Valdosta,Georgia

After a good nights rest in the WalMart lot we bought a few things then headed north still on rt.129. We went thru some nice flat farm land and a couple of dairy farms. One large field with honey dew melons just lying out their rottening, what a waste.

After going thru some tall pines on each side of the road we were approaching Georgia.
I got on I-75 and in a short distance we were in Georgia. I stopped at the welcome center thinking that I would dump my tanks but they did not have a dump station. We picked up some pamphlet and a Georgia map. After eating a late lunch we were on our way. I pulled off on exit #11 and emptied the tanks at the Hess station, then drove the 7 miles to our grandsons(Jeremy)house. He has a large yard with an electric plug in.

On the road again

Well we are on the road again. We left New Port Richey around 12:30 and drove up rt.19. We stopped in at a WalMart in Hommassa Springs and fixed a sandwich to eat.

We stopped in Crystal River at a Beall's Outlet so Nancy could get a few things. There is a small airport across from the store.
We

traveled thru Chiefland, here is the top of the court house. I really like the old cout houses with the clocks in them. We are staying the night in a WalMart lot in Live Oak Florida.
It sure feels great to be on the road once again.
