Dinner out

 this past Wednesday Sherry and I did something we were waiting for a couple of weeks.

                                                                         

Yes, it was the Golden Corral Buffet & Grill to open.

This one was closed for maybe like four years, so after that long being closed it took about six monthe to get it back into shape.

I started off with a bowl of their potato soup and it was really good.

What I really was waiting for is to try the Signature Sirloin Steak.

I had the fries that was better than I expected, then came the steak.

It was good but not as good as I remembered their steaks being.

Of course, it has a few years since I have had a steak from Golden Corral so I may have forgotten what they did taste like.

I did get another steak with ham, cabbage, peas with grilled peppers and onions.

I had the carrot cake for dessert, and it did not disappoint me.

I think they make the best carrot cake that I have eaten.

It was a nice evening having dinner out with our baby daughter (Sherry).

Boy, are we tired

 I hope each and every one of you had a great Thanksgiving Day.

And that you made many nice memories to think back on.

 

We went to our grandson and family since they invited us up to their place in Hahira just north of Valdosta Georgia.

                                                                     

I took the backroads as usually and stayed off of the internet highway.

If you are in a hurry as most people, are you like to get there quick.

I for one like to go through the small towns and the way they were years ago. 

Like the roads with the tree canopies out over them.

                                                     

                                                     

This was a nice stretch of road where they came out over the road.

Or maybe you like the old court houses with the clock in them instead of the square ones they replace them with.

I can't remember all the food we had but it did include turkey with stuffing a large ham all sliced up.

                                                                 Here's great grandson Andy getting a special hug from great grand Pa.

                                                             We just stayed one night then headed home Thanksgiving Day.

Needless to say, I think it will take us a week to get over the quick trip.

Ride down US 19

 Everything is about the same for Nancy and me.

Sherry is still here helping out with things that need b, she sure is spoiling us as she doesn't want us to do anything.

                                                                    Let's take a drive down us 19 in Port Richey, Florida.

                                                                     

                                                                      

Gas is still jumping up and down.

Plenty place to eat.

Always a lot of traffic on US 19.

Sam's Club

 When I have my blood drawn, I usually go to the Sam's Club because it is close.

                                                                     

So, it is getting on Trouble Creek Road (wonder how it got its name).

Sherry asked if I was going to buy gas here, I told her,

That sitting in line would use up the price difference in the gas.

So, we just went in Sam's Club and got the things we needed.

Blood Drawn

                                                                                   

Like I said two days ago the price is different every day.  Two days ago the gas was thirteen cents 

less than it is today.

Yesterday it was back to have my blood drawn to see how the platelets were doing.

A month ago they were at 300 and yesterday they were down to 273 no problem that is still in the range.

My flower pot garden is coming along just fine.  Here is the grape tomatoes bearing a punch of green ones.

This lone green pepper is going larger each day.

The lettuce is coming along nice, as a matter of fact a few days ago I took off enough to make a nice tasting sandwich.

Working a little

 I go tomorrow to have my blood drawn; it's been a month since the last time.

And it will be another month before I have the blood drawn again.

The oncologist still has me on two pills a week and I'm waiting to see how my platelet level is since it's been a whole month.

                                                                 

The price of regular gas was down the last time I had a fill up.

The gas price changes each day.

Our water heater had a leak, so I called a plumber to see what the cost would be to have a new one installed.

The plumber looked and started saying what would be the cost to install a new one.

Each time he said what he had to do I could see $$$$ it going up.

He added everything and ended up with $$$$  $2,883.00  (OUCH).

I told him I would let him know if I wanted him to the installation.

So, with Shery's help we took the old water heater out and installed the new one with a total cost of water heater and fittings  $535.00.

Sherry is 64 years of age and I'm going to be 87 my next birthday we are not beyond working.

Meat and Veggies

                                                                     

When I went to pick up Sherry from the airport, I went early enough to do a little sight seeing.

Of course I had to take a drive through Tarpon Springs.

I drove on down alt. 19 I passed an old-time market, so I turned around to go in and check it out.

 

This little place turned out to be larger than I thought.

I mean just look at all that fruit and veggies.

All of it looks like they have been picked.

I could not believe what I saw when I went it to pay for the things I had.

On the inside there was a full butcher shop with three show cases of fresh cut meat and every kind of sausage you could think of.

I really enjoyed doing all this extra looking around, it made for a better day.

I took one daughter (Vicki) to the airport and then a week later I went to the airport took pick up our younger daughter (Sherry).

They are worried about their Moma because recently Nancy has fallen twice.

                                                                       

Nothing like some fried onions, color mini peppers and throw in a little Hungarian hot pepper then top the off with scramble eggs. 

                                                                     

                               Then supper time, bite size pork chops fried chunk potatoes and buttered corn.

Nancy is about the same health wise, feeling week and staying tired most of the time.

                                                             

When I went to the airport to pick up Sherry I decided to take a drive through Tarpon Springs.

Doctors and more Doctors

 Thursday, I went to the Cancer Center have blood drawn and to see Doctor Dandamudi on how the blood platelets are doing.

They are 300 well within the 140-440 range taking 2 pills a week.  So, he said to keep that amount up and come back in a month to have my blood drawn. 

Vicki is still with us she was only going to stay for a couple of weeks, but Nancy started feeling not to good so she didn't want to leave with Nancy feeling weak and sick.

So, tomorrow I will be taking her to the airport to catch a plane back to Kentucky.

We told her that after all mom is 85 and dad is 86 and we are not going to feel like when we were even in our 70's.

Monday, I have an appointment with Doctor Siva my cardiologist to go over what the result of the stress test and some more things they were checking out.

Safe and Well

 We are ok we left Florida Tuesday and had a motel reserved for our stay.

We will start back on Friday, maybe less traffic then.

Although we did not take interstate 75.  We came up on us route 19 and didn't have but small amounts of wait times in the small towns.  Everything was going good as the towns had extra police directing traffic.

                                                                           

We stopped for a short break at a Burger King.

Wednesday just as the sign says "Ler's Eat.

We ate at a Shoney's the last time we had a meal at Shoney's was years ago.

They had the buffet for $9.99, so I looked it over and decided that was for us.

They had four entrees including Spaghetti, Fried chicken and a couple of others.

The salad bar had everything you would want to put in a salad.

We saw trucks like this at most motels waiting for the storm so they could start to work.

Vicki was talking to one of the guys and he was from Idaho.

 

Big one is coming.

 Yeah, who would have guessed it.

This hurricane looks like it is going to hit us broad-sided.  It is going to arrive Wednesday, but the rain is starting to rain this morning and last all day.

We road Hellene out, I don't think we will this one (Milton).

The news forecasters say it will hit us as cat 3 and maybe a 4.
