Another new park

We went to a new park that is located at the end of Trouble Creek,on the Gulf side. The park has a nice picnic area and also has a fitness trail.

The park has 3 fishing piers and a canoe,kayak launch.  This is a nice small park that is still under a little construction.

James Grey Preserve

The only thing that happened friday was that I went out in front of the house to see the lift-off of the shuttle Atlantis on its last scheduled flight.  It was cloudy and I couldn't see it very well.

We went to the James Grey Preserve to walk yesterday.  It was very hot with the sun beating down on us but we managed to servive.  We saw this large turtle in the river,it looked to be around a foot on diameter. I think this is the largest water turtle we have seen. 

The trail that goes along the river has some very nice senic spots with benches that you can rest for a while.

We always see plants everywhere we go that we don't know what they are. We just enjoy them.

Park Walking

We were walking back down at the John Chesnut Park yesterday. Saw a couple of small trees with these hanging on the limbs. Don;t know what they were but they looked like golf balls with stick pins in them.

We saw a couple of raccoons prowling around. One of them looked like it had found a nest of alligator eggs that it was enjoying.  The weather is still very hot but it was a nice walk under the shade of the trees.

Same Stuff

It is really hot here pretty near 100 degrees so the days we have been walking in the mall.  I've been doing some small things over at the motorhome,kinda getting thing ready for when we take off around the end of the month.  Yesterday was wednesday so that was our pizza day.  We still go to Little Caesar's to get the "Hot and Ready".

Nancy's Birthday

Yesterday was Nancy's birthday so we went to Barnhills Buffet for dinner.  Then she went to Bealls Outlet for a couple of theings. Then it was to Walmart for a few groceries.  I did get time yesterday to repair the broken door latch on the motorhome bay door.

Canning

Friday we went up to the USA Flea Market,I bought four small baskets of hot peppers and a basket of cucumbers.  From there we went to the mall to do our walking. Then it was to the Golden Corral Buffet where we over ate as we usually do when we go there.
Yesterday I canned the hot peppers,this makes me 15 jars of peppers so I guess I'm through doing that for a while. I also pickled four pints of beets.  It has been getting so hot that we went to Lowea and bought an air conditioner for the florida room. So I had that to put in when we got back.  The a/c did a good job of cooling the room.  It needed to be cool because thats where we have the large tv.  

Only Walking

Walking down at John Chesnut Park again yesterday.  We saw this pair of Blue Herons still around the nest where they have 3 youngsters. I thought they would be old enough to fly off by now,but I guess they still are not old and strong enough.

Bowling ?

                                     

Yesterday we walked around the park even before we had our breakfast.  After eating and getting ready we again went to the mall to walk more.  From there we went to the bowling lanes where I bowled 3 games. This is the first time I've bowled in maybe 15 years or so.  I could tell it as I started bowling. I could tell I'm a little older and can't throw the ball where want it to go. On the last game I did throw 5 strikes but they were not put together. In fact I had open frames in between the strikes.  Well anyway it was fun and the cost was not bad because they have the month of May special at $1.00 a game.

Good Walking

Yesterday we started our walking by walking in the park here at Orchid Lake.  Of course that was not nearly enough walking for us.

So we got ready and once again down to John Chesnut Park we go. It was really nice under the trees and it was good walking.  We saw the usual squirrels and a spider that had it web out in hopes of catching something.   We try to walk a lot,as much as we can stand because that makes the day shorter and we feel as though we have accomplished something. It is better for us to do this than sitting around feeling old. 

Hot Weather

Yesterday we did make it to church.  After we went to Kaposey's for dinner.  This is a small place that is not fancy at all. Its always crowded because they have good food at good prices and are very friendly.  After dinner we came back home and stayed inside were the air conditioner felt very nice.  The outside temp was 90 + so to hot to get out and do anything.

Birthday Dinner

Yesterday wasn't a very exciting day.  After you have had a bunch of birthdays that one yesterday being 72 kind of takes the excitment out of it.  Don't get me wrong I'm glad to have had as many of them and hope to have many more.  It just seems that my great grand kids being 5 or 6 excites them more.
Nancy took me out to the China Buffet for my birthday dinner.  We don't do the china buffet very often but,I have to have one every now and then.  From there we went to the mall to walk and do a little shopping. Actually it was looking becaus we didn't buy anything.  We had to go to Walmart to do our grocery shopping and of course you never go to Walmart without buying anything.  The rest of the evening was spent feeding the wild birds and relaxing.
