A stop over in Hahira, Georgia

Saturday we loaded up the motorhome from the car of the things we thought we would need for an extended vacation.                                                                                                                                       It was more work than taking a two-week vacation and taking a couple of suit cases of clothes.    We left the storage around 11:00, at 3:30 we stopped in Live Oak to have supper.                                    Well we were suprised to see that our usual restaurant had changed names From Ken's BBQ to Derrick's BBQ.  We entered the restaurant and set down to order our food plus asked our waitress about the name change.                                                                                                                                          It seems as though Ken wanted to retire so his son Derrick took over the business.     It was still the same and maybe be the food was a little better.

We will be staying here in Hahira, Georgia until Tuesday visiting with our Grandson and family before leaving for a stop in Warner Robins to visit with my brother Nick and family.

We had a good nights sleep and woke up to a temerature of 68* this morning a great change from the mornings of 75* in Florida.

Vacation Time

The posting has been slow due to the fact we have been getting ready to be on the road for the summer. It is much different now to get ready for the road because we are not in the motorhome all the time. The motorhome which is in a storage yard 8 miles from the house, so it takes many trips to take all the things we will need for our "extended vacation". Before we just knew we had everything with us. Special Days

We thought we would take a few days off before we had to decide what to take to the motorhome for our summer trip.

                                         

Most of Monday was waiting for the 50" Roku tv to be delivered and then setting it up.

As you know I'm a college basketball and football fan so I bought this tv from Walmart online with free delivery.  So now, I think I will be in the game a lot more.

                                              

Sherry and I started out to shop at Walmart one day, but first we took a little beyond to go and check for a look see at the gulf water.  The view was nice and there were a few people at this small park even a couple of guys fishing.

                                           

Yesterday we spent the day out with our first stop at John Chestnut Park located along Tarpon Lake.       We like this park with the Spanish moss hanging from the trees.

                                            

As we were leaving the park we saw a group of seven young deer grazing on the grass.  They looked to be from one to three years of age.

From the we went to Tarpon Springs to make it a special day with ha supper at Hella's the Greek Restaurant that we like.

                                                   

Nancy had spaghetti, which she only could half of it. Someone is going to have spaghetti today.

                                             

Sherry and I had the Dolmades with rice, peas and a potato wedge.  We three really enjoyed our meal.

Short Post

Yeah, real short. Yesterday we had to get ready in a hurry (for us) because our daughter Sherry was coming in on Alligent plane due to arrive at the ST Pete airport at 11:55am.

Nancy and I was ready to leave the house at 10:30am. After getting to the airport at 11:30 I sit in the car with Nancy until 11:40 and told her I would go in and wait. About that time the phone rang and it was Sherry saying they had just landed a little earlier than scheduled.

After getting our hugs Sherry picked up her bags and we headed out to the car. Nancy saw us coming and she was out of the car by the time we got there, so she could get her bunch of hugs from our baby.

Getting back home, Sherry's luggage packed in we sit around for a while before Nancy and Sherry wanted to go out to eat. They decided Olive Garden would be good for them. We really enjoy our meal as there was more conversation than eating.

After getting back home we watching a little tv and more talking before calling it a day.

Good start on the day

Yesterday after having a good breakfast of scrabbled eggs, two link sausages, home fried potatoes, gravy, one biscuit and a cup of coffee, I was more than ready to get started on the day.

That was getting ready to wait on our bed to arrive, and wait a little longer.

It did come at 2:30 pm, the two guys brought it in and took the twin bed out, loaded it in the truck then proceeded to set up the gueen bed.

After getting it put together they said they did not have the bolts to attach the headboard!

So, I told them not to worry I would do that myself.

After they left it was off to Tractor Supply for me to get the bolts for the headboard.

As I was already out I stopped to fill the car up with gas at $2.79 a gallon.

Back home again I bolted the headboard to the frame and it s all for me.  Then it was time for Nancy to get the bed made up with all the new bedding she had. 

The mattress is firm just like Nancy likes one to be.

More work

Yesterday's morning breakfast was about the same as usual except I added tater tots to it this time. After eating the breakfast it was time to get busy in the two bedrooms. With our new gueen size mattress set to come tomorrow there was some moving around and some moving out to do. In the guest bedroom I had to dismantle the twin bed and set it out to be picked up. Then next up was to take apart the full bed in our bedroom and set it up in the guest bedroom. With that finished up Nancy wanted me to go to Walmart to get a few things for the guest bedroom. By the time I arrived back home it was supper time and some rest time afterwards.                                                   

              After the supper had settled down it was time for strawberries and cake.  A nice little reward for my busy day.

Here and there

This has been another busy week. Our insurance agent finally got the papers back on our house so she called for us to come in and sign.

I had to go to Walgreens to pick up some new medicine that Nancy's kidney doctor had called in.

                                       

                                         Then I went to Winn Dixie and a few more stores.

Always have to go to the store for things, as you need to when moving into a new place.

Old restaurant that is on the gulf waters on the old Dixie Highway and still in business.

Nice little pond and land along the old Dixie Highway.

Maybe some year ahead in time it will make a nice home place for someone.

Nancy and I also went to a store to look at a new gueen size mattress and headboard that we ordered.

We had to set up a delivery date.  

As busy as we were I still took the time to grill and barbeque some thin cut  chicken breast.

I really like our little patio area we have in the back of the house.

Nancy's visit to the kidney doctor

After the usual breakfast biscuits with the sides added, Nancy and I were on our computers.

Then it was time to start getting ready, because Nancy had an appointment with her Nephrologist to see how her numbers are since a few months ago.

 Her kidney doctor was worried because Nancy's numbers were really low the last time. We got to the doctor early and Nancy went in as I stayed in the car to wait on her.                                                      She was back into the car very quick this time with a pleasant look on her face I ask her how things went?   Nancy said very good, so good the doctor could not believe how her numbers were up so much.                                                                                                                                                          Actually the doctor said that the last time that her numbers were so low that she was really worried about her.

With that good news we decided to have dinner out at Sioux City Steak House today.

                                           

It was Fajita Tuesday at the restaurant so that's what we went with.   That is Nancy's  chicken fajita with black beans and rice.  

I had the steak with black beans and rice, both were really good.  We spent the rest of the evening watching tv and on the computers.

Grilling at the house

Yesterday started out about the same as any other morning.

Nancy took out a sausage and egg biscuit for me, plus an hash brown potato patty which I added tomatoes and Hungarian Pepper and a cup of coffee makes for a good simple breakfast. She also did a bacon and egg biscuit for herself.

After breakfast I was off to do some shopping. First stop was Home Depot then a stop into Aldi for groceries, then it was Winn Dixie to get the rest of the groceries.

After a couple of hours it was time to think about dinner.  I was thinking about grilling a couple of steaks which I had just bought at the Winn Dixie while Nancy was busy with her part of preparing what to go with the steaks.

                                         

                                                   So on the grill with the steaks.   

I guess you notice the small grill is setting on the  grill, the reason is the large grill is a little rusted out

but it makes a good table for the small grill.

While the steaks were doing what steaks on the grill are suppose to do I was watching the planes go over head.

After Nancy I were through we ended up with this.  Steak, fried potatoes, slaw, pinto beans, green onions, biscuits and a soft drink.  This was really a good meal.

These things seem to get closer

Yeah the things I'm talking about are Birthdays. I had another one yesterday and I'm telling you I think being 20 is more fun then being 83.

Nancy asked if I wanted to go out for a steak dinner and I told her, I would be more satisfied staying home and doing a little work around the place.

I went back to the motor home to get the air fryer and a few more things we needed. Nancy did prepare me a very good dinner, she really like her large kitchen.
