Moving on

Monday
Peach had a good report from her doctor and he told her she could do her therapy at home.
She was feeling better so we went to the Logans Roadhouse Restaurant for our dinner. Peach, Don and Nancy had the chicken dinner and I had the beef tips with onions. Everyone enjoyed the dinner and also the two for on $14.99 price.

Tuesday
It was time for a haircut so I went to the town of Hurricane to this shop.  It being the only guys barbershop it was crowded and I had almost an hour wait before it was my turn,
Don also worked on his riding lawnmower. I more or less watched him.
Peach had a very good dinner today or should I say we had a feast. She had roast with all the vegetables, pot of pinto beans with onions, slaw and corn bread. Man that was some good eating.
Wednesday
Today is the sad part of visiting as it is time to move on down the road. But we know will  be seeing Peach and Don at the Family Reunion in a month.
Good news we will be seeing Jackie, Chris and Tyler. We will be in the state of Kentucky, just out side of Morehead.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Week end

Saturday

I went to the Dollar Tree and bought a few things.  Then it was to Walmart for a pack of faucet washers which they didn't have. I also was looking for a new spout for my gas container they didn't have that either.  It may be what Don said about the Hurricane Walmart. This is the worst Walmart he(and I) have been in.
In the evening time we again had dinner from Giovanni's. three baked spaghetti and one calzone. We all enjoyed what we had.
Sunday

Don and I went to Crum, for an one and a half hour drive to the church where he is the pastor.
Everyone was glad to see him and also glad to see me. Everyone in the church is so friendly. I think they have spoiled Don with how good and enjoys his sermon so much.  Don did have a good sermon as he usually does. Sandwiches was the order for the Sunday meal.
Another good day of many.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Driving miss Jackie

Jackie decided it was time for her to leave yesterday.
She looks happy to be heading home. Don was taking her to meet Chris in Grayson which is about halfway there. This way it cut down on the driving for both Don and Chris.
It wasn't the best of conditions weather wise to be on the road as it was pouring the rain.
But by the time we got to Grayson at the Loves station the weather had cleared up.  The price of regular gas and Diesel.
Some of the scenery along the way. I just love the old barns along the roads that we travel.
Don waited until he got back to Huntington approximately 30 miles east of Grayson on I-64 to fill up with gas. Which was thirty cents a gallon cheaper.
When we got back Nancy was visiting with Peach and we stay a little while longer. Then we came over to the motorhome to have supper while Peach and Don did the same. After eating we went back over to more visiting for an hour or so then back to the motorhome home for the day. It is so nice to be living so close, if only for a couple of weeks. Kind of like old times when we all  lived in the same town close together.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Laundry day.

Yesterday was Laundromat day and the weather forecast was for thunderstorms, so we thought we might have to put it off for another day.
As it turned out to be a nice sunny day we did go to the Laundromat.
Side entry to George's Dry Cleaning and Laundry Center in Milton, West Virginia. If there was another Laundromat close it would be best to go to the other one. Out of 30 washers 14 of them were out of order and by the sound of a couple more they will soon be out of order. This is what you will run into at times when you travel the country in in your mobile lifestyle.
Being laundry day Nancy reminded me it was another eating out day. We had dinner at the Giovani's.
I had the Philly's Steak and Cheese sandwich and Nancy had the large Calzone that you see here. Yes she did eat the whole thing.
After getting back home we went over to visit with Peach, Don and Jackie for a while.
The heavy rain did come around 8:00.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Burgers on the grill

We have been hanging around the house and visiting, which has been very good catching up with what has been happening the last year.  It seems as though Don and I have been to Walmart almost everyday.
Don was at the grill Monday grilling up some delicious burgers.  Just look at that young fella. He is the youngest 82 year old I know.  Peach has to go to therapy today and Nancy and I will be going to the Laundromat.  So a busy day for everyone. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Another day

Nice and snug. That's the parking spot that we have here at Peach and Don's house. All of the family are so nice that they can accommodate our motorhome when we come for a visit. They have electric and water. We are here with sewer connection also. But the best part is being able to stay close for our visit with them. Thank you Family.
Saturday Don and I went to the Flea Market to look around to see if there was anything we couldn't do without. I guess we have everything we need because we didn't buy anything.
Yesterday was a different story as I was feeling sluggish, because I didn't get much sleep from the night before. It seems as though Nancy and I have something that is lingering on. We hope it goes away soon. No fun going to visit someone and not doing much visiting.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Culloden, West Virginia

I usually like to have a photo of the motorhome showing where we are parked. I failed to do so while we were in Oak Hill, so here it is now. Doesn't that look nice and safe between the church and the hillside?
Here is the capitol of West Virginia with the gold dome in Charleston.

We did make it safe and sound up to Culloden to Peach and Don's house Wednesday.
We are glad Peach is feeling good enough to have us here to visit.  We hope she will soon be up and around good as new after her knee heals up from the joint replacement.
Nancy didn't get to do any visiting yesterday do to the face that she was sick the night before and didn't want to take a chance that she might have some sort of virus.
Don and I went to the Best Buy yesterday but after looking around we didn't buy anything.
Today Don and I are going to pick up Jackie the youngest sister of the Mitchell family.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Moving on

Well our time is up visiting with Mark and Sherry.
We would like to thank the "Calvary Baptist Church" in Oak Hill, West Virginia for letting us use their parking lot and the use of electric and water.  Also that allowed us to be close to Mark and Sherry while we were here visiting.
We have enjoyed the days and evening with Mark and Sherry and a big thank you to Mark for showing us around the area of the many thing that are close by.
But now it is time for our next stop and that is to visit with Peach(Nancy's sister)and Don her husband. The next stop will be Culloden, West Virginia.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

A tourist today

Yesterday Mark said he was going to show us some more of the sights around the area so after an early dinner we were on the road.
We got on route 19 going north, then turned off onto route 60 going west on the Midland Trail.
Our first stop was Hawks Nest State Park. Nancy and I were here around twenty years ago so we remember a few things about the park.
A great panoramic view of the mountains and river from this spot.
Be sure to bring your binoculars and you can see the New River Gorge Bridge from here.
Another spot that you will want to stop down the road a little.
This is my favorite place to look out and see the mountains and the rail bridge crossing the river.
Still traveling west on route 60 and along the kanawha river is the old school bus converted to a house with a porch along the front. The house is on a large rock.
Mark sure knows the area and some interesting things to see.
On down the river are the falls that are very hard to see until you are on top of them.
That is why they have these floats strung across the river.
The building on the left is the hydro plant where electricity is produced for the area.

The rest of the Falls of the Kanawha.  There is plenty of parking spots where you can enjoy the falls and do some fishing. A beautiful place to spend an afternoon.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Wash day

Walgreens sent us an email reminder that our medicine was due for refills so we went to pick the meds up Tuesday.  When we picked them up they said the insurance wouldn't ok a couple of them until Friday.  After getting the medicine we went to Ryans Buffet for dinner. Mark noticed that the Rayns sign out front had changed since he and Sherry were there last and going inside it looks like the inside has been remodeled somewhat. They are changing to a country style with colorful pots setting at the buffet tables. The food was really good.
Yesterday was Nancy's wash day so dinner time I went to the Little Caesar's Pizza for a couple of "Hot and Ready" pepperoni pizza's.
It was another good day with mark and Sherry.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Cat Head?

We have been hanging around the house for the last couple of days.
We went to church Sunday to hear Mark deliver a good sermon. Then after church we went up to Marks and Sherry's house which is located on the hill behind the church.  Sherry had a delicious spaghetti dinner complete with garlic toast.

The last couple of mornings I gone just across the street to the Tudor's Biscuit World to get us an egg and meat biscuit. As you can tell Nancy likes the "Cat Head" biscuit that they make, really good and fresh made from scratch biscuits.
We also had to go to Eagles Nest Campground which is within five miles to dump our tanks at a cost of $5.00. There is a free dump in Beckley but it would cost more for gas than the trip to the one we used today.
We are enjoying our time here with Mark and Sherry.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Playing Tourist

Thursday was a stay home day doing the usual things. Mark and Sherry went to the funeral which took up most of the day and Nancy and I just did whatever we do best.
Yesterday was a different day.  First we were with Mark and Sherry for a picnic at the Gorge Area Visitor's Center. Then we went to Fayetteville to see the town Fourth of July celebration.
There were street vendors. You can tell this one was selling lemonade.

Watermelon seed spittin contest.
The Fayetteville county court house.
Then it was back on route 19 over to Mt. Hope another old mining town.

This area has a lot old towns that were built during the coal boom years. Most of them started to decline in the 50's when the coal was mined out of the hills. It is sad to see the empty buildings that was once full of people doing their shopping.
We had a nice day with Mark being our tour guide taking us to all the towns and area attractions.

Thanks for stopping bu and have a great day.

Hanging close

I'm still just a little fuzzy headed, but getting back to being as normal as I can.
With Sherry having a great roast beef dinner Tuesday and then yesterday she had hot dogs and hamburgers I'm putting back on some of the eights pounds that I lost with the virus I had.  That was one bad week!
We haven't been doing anything special while we have been here. We have been visiting with Mark and Sherry and that is very special when we can do the with our children and family.  Mark's Mom and Dad left yesterday morning to visit Mark's sister in Sistersville.
Mark is having a funeral at the church today so it will be sometime in the evening when we get to see him and Sherry.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Oak Hill

Still feeling weak and stomach cramping we left Callie's yesterday.  It took longer than usual to put all the lumber away that I use here to level up the motorhome, then hooking the car to the motorhome we were off around 12:00 or 1:00 don't really remember.
I wasn't much company this trip while visiting with Callie and I'm really sorry. But sometimes a person gets to feeling like just sitting and doing nothing.
With a stop at the Travel Plaza at exit 45 on I-77 I dumped the tanks and gave the black tank a good extra cleaning as it was giving us some problems.
Then it was to Oak Hill some eight or nine miles to visit with  Mark and Sherry. Mark has his parents Bob and Ruby visiting with him. So after parking the motorhome beside the church, leveling, extending  the slides and connecting the electric all was well.
About that time everyone was hungry even me for the first time in about a week. We were off to Delfino's  to eat.  After a good meal and some good talking we left the restaurant. Mark, Sherry, Bob and Ruby going home. Nancy and I had to go to the store for a groceries.  After getting back to the motorhome Nancy and I  just did some computing and then went to bed early for much needed rest.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.
