Laundry day and more

Yesterday day after having breakfast then getting ready it was time to do a load of laundry.

The next thing was to go to Rural King to buy three bags of potato chips that I like.
They are the only store that sales the Classic Brand Kitchen Cooked Potato Chip.
Also the price on the bag is $3.99 but Rural King sales them for $1.99 a bag.
I also bought a case of water for $1.99 this is the best price to be found in the area.

Then it was to Harbor Freight for an item that I needed but they didn't have it.

Next was Winn Dixie for a few groceries that we needed.

From there it was a stop at Walmart to get a few things I couldn't find in Winn Dixie.
Then it was finally time to head home to have supper that was a little past time for it.

After supper I had a short nap so I would be able to sit up to watch the College Playoff Football Game.
A lot of joy and a lot of tears came at the end of the game.

Lazyboy for a day

Yesterday started out normal for a Saturday.  Nancy once again prepared me the Big Saturday Breakfast.  It was two eggs, ham the we still had from our Christmas Dinner, hash browns, onions, peppers, a biscuit and a cup of coffee.

We then did our morning on the computers catching up on what has been happening.

Some where around 1:oo it was time for me to settle in for my college basketball games.
Was when Nancy said the soup is ready.  She had prepared us a big pot of chicken soup and it sure was delicious with all the vegetables in it plus the chicken.

So after finishing up the soup I once again eased myself down in the Lazyboy for the day to watch the basketball games.
It was a pretty good day to watch the games if you were pulling for the underdog.

Be careful

It looks we are about to get a break in our weather.  The sun came out this morning the temperature is going up and is suppose to be around 70 degrees tomorrow.
I went to Winn Dixie this morning to get the ingredients to make chicken soup.  Home made soup sure is so much better than the can stuff you by.

Today I will be watching the college basketball games today.  There are going to be some games there are really going to be interesting to watch.

And if you like I think there are some NFL games also if you care to watch.

No staying at home day

I guess that I shouldn't give you a weather report on the blog today because it seems as though every blog that I read this morning had about the cold weather.  So we will go from there.

Yesterday was not a stay at home day like I thought it was going to be.
Nancy got a call from her Nephroloist Office reminding her of the appointment the had for the day.
Uh-oh Nancy thought it was next week and on top of that they had not got the results of her blood  work. When the called in for they results the place told her -----------------that they had not taken her blood, since they only do it for the doctors in their system.
I know Nancy and I wasn't dreaming because we never ever had the same dream.
What we figured might have happened was that they were not suppose to have taken her blood and they were saying she was not there to have her blood drawn to save them from explaining to the supervisor's why they did it.  I hope you can get what I just wrote!

Anyway  we had to go to the Lab Corp so she could have her blood drawn again.
It just so happens that the Lab Corp is located in a Walmart.  How convenient is that since Nancy needed a few items to get anyway.
There was an item that they didn't have which was not a problem because we would be going by a Walmart Market and two more Super Walmart Stores.
The first stop though was a Save-A-Lot to buy cans of green beans that we are out of then to Walmart where they did have the item Nancy was looking for.  Nancy was worn out from the first stop so I went in to the last two stops myself.

When we got home the groceries were put away then a pot of potato soup was on the stove that tasted mighty good after being out in the cold.

The rest of the evening was a couple of college basketball games for me and the computer for Nancy.

Terrible weather report

The weather is about the same as yesterday.  Only now it has rain added for the day.
My patio awning is really taking a beating and with the wind blowing I dare not try to roll it up.

It kind of feels like being on one of those old sailing ships out in the middle of the ocean.
The sound of wind on the awning and the motor home rocking with the rain beating on the side of it.
                              "batten down the hatches full speed ahead."

I did get out yesterday to go just down the road to Dollar General for a few items.
I do not like to get out in this weather because, some people driving cars simply do not want to slow down in bad conditions.

Today is another stay at home day.

Here we go

Well here it is the second day of the New Year already.

Today has started out with the temperature of 40 degrees and a 14 mile per hour wind which makes it very cold for us.
I know it is really cold north of us in the other states so all I can say is please stay warm.

We had cabbage rolls yesterday.  Here is the IP Cooker that cooks them in a short time.  Actually this is the second pot because with everything in the mixture it holds only 14 cabbage rolls at a time.
Nancy and I both overate, I more than Nancy, oh they tasted more than good.

Well with  my "belly" full I settled in to watch one college basketball game and the two bowl games later in the evening.

With the holidays being over we all have to settle back into our regular routines.  Or maybe not if you have made a New Year Resolution to change your way of doing things.

Did you get out to celebrate the incoming year or stayed home to silently celebrate?
Boy, around this place the fireworks started 8:00pm and lasted until 1:00am with a stray boom going off ever now and then after that.

Nancy and I did have our yearly Wedding Anniversary and enjoyed being out together.

                                        

As we got out of the car at the house we saw this big old moon looking down on us.

I thought it was a full moon until I looked at the close up I took.

Then I saw in the lower left hand side the circumference  was just a little irregular.

Wedding Anniversary 61

 

 

 

WOW, Nancy and I are  celebrating our 61st Wedding Anniversary today.

That's a long time that really seems so short.  I have to say "Nancy I love you more each year".
Some of those early years were probably harder on Nancy than they were on me.  I thank her for raising three children and putting up with me.
In celebrating we will go out to have a nice dinner then be at home to spend New Years Eve together.  

Yesterday was the typical Saturday for me.  I spent the day watching College Basketball Games.

Later on in the evening I put together the ingredients to make macaroni salad.  It has been several years since I have made it and I just felt like I was wanting some.
Everything came together good.  Nancy and I had to have a small bowl of it last night and it taste really good.

Games, games and more games

Thursday Nancy had to go to have her blood drawn at the lab, because next week she will be going see her Nephrologist.  She will then find out how her kidneys are doing. Nancy has been doing pretty good with her kidney count, sometimes her numbers are up a little then they will come down a few numbers.

After we were finished with the lab it was time to eat and the Steak and Shake was next door we just made the trip over to have our meal there.
As usual Nancy had the Grilled Chicken Sandwich with onion rings and I had the Original Double Burger with fries.

In the photo above you can see that Sunny Florida has been cloudy for a couple of days and will be for the next week.  We will also have the cool weather with the temperatures in the high 60s for the coming week.  I know a lot of people reading this will say they wish their temps would be like that.

I have been watching the football bowl games and the college basketball games and today will be the same.

Lots of vegetables

Tuesday Nancy had the appointment with the opthamologist to have the growth taken off her right eye with a laser.  She has been nervous thinking about it.  She got called in and I thinking of getting a cup of coffee to drink while she was having it done. I had two drinks of the coffee when she comes out smiling and said she was finished saying it was nothing at all.
She said this morning she could see better out of the eye now.

Wednesday was the first day I have been away from home in several days.  I was out to get some things to make us cabbage rolls for New Years Day. We've not had cabbage rolls for several years now and its about time to get back to our regular New Years Day tradition of making them.

But the first stop was to the roadside market to get fresh vegetables, in this case almost fresh.
Upon looking they had a section of bruised or a little over ripened vegetables bagged up at .99 a bag.

Tomatoes will be $1.49-$1.98 a pound at the stores, I bought a bag of 8 tomatoes for .99 with the weight of five pounds had to throw away two of them. I quickly ate one before I took the photo(it taste really good).

Green peppers maybe .79 each at the store, had to throw away one.

Small picklin' cucmbers 6 for $1.00.  3 for $1.00 at the store if you can find them.  We like the small ones because to us they taste better and have a "crunch" to them when you bite into them.

Hot peppers 5 for $1.00, I've seen them sell in the stores at $3.98 a pound.

Makes a good bunch of good tasting vegetables for the price of $4.00.

After picking up the vegetables the next stop was at Win Dixie for the rest of my shopping day.

Day after Christmas

I hope everyone of you had a very good Christmas being with and enjoying your family's weather large or small.  Did you get that special thing that you have been wanting?

Nancy spent some time on the phone before starting her day. She called her three sisters to wish them a Merry Christmas. Next was our children only to find out the our oldest daughter was in the hospital with the flu and pneumonia.  Plus she was suppose to under go a heart cath to check some problems she has been having.  Now that has been put off until she is feel better.

Nancy and I had a good ham dinner with sides that both of us put together.  We had a small bone in ham which was cooked in the Instant Pot Cooker that Nancy got for Christmas.

Here is my plate of food ham, sweet potatoes, green beans, slaw and a baked potato with a Vernor's Ginger Ale to drink.  Nancy had the same thing minus the baked potato and a Sprite Zero to drink.
We enjoyed our meal with the both of us having seconds.  Afterwards a little television watching then turning the channel to the soft instrumental music while we took us a good little nap.
