Cool Day

With the day so cool I didn't get out but very little yesterday.   Of course I had to take out the garbage to the dumpster and also took out luggage back to the motorhome and in the bay.  We don't use our luggage very often,as we don't travel very much with out the motorhome.  The trip up to Valdosta with the motorhome would not have been very smart.  The car took 8 gallons of gas and the motorhome would have taken 30 gallons,so the cost would have been very much there and back.
The temp did get up to 65°. 
I just sat around on the computer and last night watched a basketball game.

Back Home

We are back to our house after an enjoyable Christmas week-end.  We had a very nice visit and a very nice time with Sherry and the family.  Like always when there is food around we over do it with our eating.  It wasn't a surprise that we ate as much as we did.  At least I didn't gain any weight.  The trip down yesterday was on crowded I-75 but the traffic was moving along at a fast pace so there wasn't any traffic jams.  I drove a little faster than I normally do,but I wanted to keep up with the rest of the crowd. There were a few state police out and I guess they got their quota for the day.  The ones they caught must have really been going fast. Even though we got over the speed limit by a few miles we didn't pass too many cars up.
The temp got down to 40 degrees last night and is only going up to 60 today.

Great Christmas

Things went as planed yesterday.  Since we hadn't planed anything thats just the way it went.  Doing the things that we and so many others do through the holidays,we over ate,set around watching the television and playing games.

Oh my body

Yesterday we did,I suppose as most everyone else that we just ate and lazyed around most of the day.  But last night was a different thing.  The younger ones wanted Nancy and I to play the Wii games.  Oh my,they had this pad of a thing that you stand on and do all kinds of stuff-skiing,going through obstacle courses.  Then we bowled,golfed,played basball and a few more games.  Oh my we are not as young as we once were by a long shot.  It was fun though for us and for the rest of them.
I do believe today will be sitting around for quite a bit and watching some basketball games.
We did have a very nice Christmas day.  

Merry Christmas

Our grandson and his two small ones.

We had a very nice trip up yesterday.  The sun was shining bright for half the trip then the second half it was cloudy. We didn't have any rain during our trip so that made it nice.

Watching Hannah and Andy opening their presents was fun for the grown-up.  The little ones enjoyed all their presents and had so many they didn't know which ones to play it. We had our finger foods last night and today will have a nice turkey and ham dinner with all the sides.

Yesterday was a day that was slow from the start. The park was doing water line repairs and the water was off  for 6 hours. From 8:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Wednesdays are the specials for this Little Caesar's. Not the usual $5.00 but a special of $4.44 and a good large pepperoni pizza it is.

With the top down driving around on a December day you must be in Florida.

Today we will be going up to our daughter in Valdosta to visit with her and the family.

Heavy Traffic

Yesterday we went out to get some small stuff for the kids.  I ran through the car wash to give the car a much needed outside cleaning.

We then drove down rt 19 which had a lot of traffic,more then usual.  I saw red lights and blue lights flashing so I knew something had happened. I turned on my camera,which I always carry.

When we got closer I could see an suv had turned over on its side.

As we passed by I could see it had just happened and a fireman was going inside through the windshield to check on someone.  The emts where there ready with the guerney. I never can understand how a vehicle turns over on lever ground.  Maybe going to fast or making a sudden turn and turning over.

By that time it was time for our early dinner so today we had dinner at the Cracker Barrel. Well we actually had breakfast for dinner.  I know some doesn't like Cracker Barrel,but we are not one of those people.

Shopping

We did a little Christmas shopping yesterday.  We are going up to Valdosta to see our daughter. Two of our great grandchildren will be there so they will have to have some presents.  We had an early dinner at the Royal Buffet.  We try to get to the restaurants before 3:30 to catch the early bird Senior Specials.
Then I watch the Kentucky-Drexel basketball game. It was Kentuckys 2000th win so they had a big celebration. 

Cool

It got cool again last night and stayed that way most of the day.

Looking at the lake here in the park with the sun shining it doesn't look as cool as it really is.

The lights are all up on first street. It doesn't seem as many people are putting up lights this year. Some of the people though have a lot of lights and decorations up.  I guess they are trying to win first prize in the best of decorating.

Ballgames

Yesterday was my basketball game day.  On saturdays that is an all day thing for me. Of course I did get time to check the email and browse the internet a little.
It is turning cool for this part of the state it got down to 50° last night and tonight is suppose to be even cooler.  The temp is only getting up to 56° today.  We will no doubt spend the day inside.  We have gotten spoiled since we started fulltiming and not spending the winter time in cold temps.  After 10 years of this the least bit of cool weather we get cold.

Big Rain

Today is suppose to be a lot of rain all day long. Severe weather is in the forcast. So needless to say we will be inside all day unless it clears up to where we can get out.
Yesterday moorning I saw an ad in the paper where Office Depot had a 19" LCD tv for $99.99 on sale so when we got ready we went there first thing. I go in the store and ask the clerk about the tv and she says that they already sold out,they went fast. I says it figures. Nancy was wanting to go to the mall to look in the stores. We stayed for a couple of hours and walked out without buying anything. Doesn't look like we are very good shoppers because 9 times out of 10 when we go shopping we end up not buying anything.
We got home ate dinner and I thought I would go online and see if I could maybe order the tv from Office Depot and get it. Then I thought "check with other Office Depot Store". There is another on 13 miles down the road in Tarpon Springs,I called and what do you know they had plenty of them.
So there and back in a little over an hour and the tv was set up

Walking along the river

Yesterday I put up the Christmas lights up around the carport.  It just didn't seem right putting the lights up with the temperature at 86°.  I guess that is the reason we come to Florida though.

After putting up the lights we went down in town to do our walking along the river where it was much cooler . 

This "chopper" flew overhead while we were doing our walking. After I got home and loaded up the photos I noticed it was a medic helicopter.  We did get some needed walking in.

Good Report

The doctor said all is ok on our blood work so we are good to go for 6 more months,before we have an appointment upon which we get our blood checked again. The reason is that the medication we take he has to keep a check and made sure all the bodily functions are doing as they should.  We didn't expect anything to be out of the ordinary but you can never be sure.

After stopping and having our early dinner at the Golden Corral,which for the senior special of $4.49 each,we went to the New Port Richey River Front Park.  We walked around the lagoon and saw this Blue Heron trying to catch dinner. This is a nice walk around with the palm trees planted all around.

We walked out on the fishing pier,looked out on the bay and saw the dolphin chasing fish.  He never did come up to where I could get a nice picture of him.  He sure was making the fish jump up out of the water. 

Checking on Blood Work

Yesterday was church day.  After church we came home,read the paper and sat around for a few hours.  Then it was time to go back to the church to see the production of the sing Christmas tree.  They had it saturday night also and so many people came that they had to turn them away. The auditorium was filled and a room up stairs where they were watching on closed circuit televisin was full.  So we had to go early.  Last night was just as crowded.  It was a good program.
Today we are of to the doctor again to see about the results of our blood work,hopefully everything is ok.

Hanging Around

Just hanging around the house today.  Today is eating hot dogs and ballgame day.  Saturdays are good days for the basketball games. They are usually on all day but,today not so many.  They're having football playoffs on the small colleges.  So not a very exciting day.  We will go and walk a small amount after while.

B J's Wholesale

Yesterday was a little different for us.  It rained most of the night and by morning time it was getting worse in that the wind was blowing hard.  By the time noon time came around it eased up.  I was on the computer looking for coupons and came upon one for B J's Wholesale.  It is a 60 day trial period,so I thought why not!  I turned on the gps and it showed a store in Tampa a distance of 25 miles so we got in the car and took off.  The rain was hard at times but by the time we got there it had stopped raining.  We went in the store and up to the service desk to turn the coupon into the trial membership card. After the lady telling me that for a short time the membership is $35.00 instead of the usual $40.00 and the freebes that come with it and more of her sales pitch,I told her I just wanted the 60 day period for now. The store is about the same as a Sams Club with most of the  in large bulk item sales. We did get a few things that will probably take 6 months to use up. We wlked and walked around and of course sample all the free things that they had from chicken nuggets to some kind of noodles with tomato sauce.
This trip took up the whole day and we got our walking in so it was another good day. 

Stormy Rain

Yesterday,was walking around in the park.  I also had to make a part for the motorhome bay door.  I was going to use my sabre saw which is still in the motorhome. When I started to open the bay door the lever came out but the door didn't open. This is not the first or second time that this has happened. The small trigger to open the door is made of cheap metal and they break over time.  I have been making the replacement part out of aluminum. I will replace all of them this winter and maybe everything will be alright.
Yesterday we had baked spaghetti from "Hungey Howies" It was a special price of $3.99 with bread.  It was a small,I mean small serving.  They bread was larger than the spaghetti.
Today it is stormy weather,with rain and blowing wind.  Looks lik a good tv or computer day.

Walking

Yesterday we went out to the J B Starkey Park to do our walking. Saw these small buds on a pine tree. Don't know what they are?  Maybe someone will tell me.

A bunch of these small yellow finches(?) were flying all over the place.

We also saw 3 of these gopher turtles on the trail. I see these turtles all the time and yet I read the other day where they  are on the indangered species list of animals. They are 10 to 12 inches across the shell. This one was eating the grass.

Out Walking

When we got through with the blood work yesterday,we came home had a very late breakfast.  It had warmed up quiet a bit so we changed into our shorts and went to the James E Grey Preserve to do some walking.

Here are the rules for the Preserve. It looks like they didn't put no swimming on this sign,but it is posted all around.  I guess they don't worry to much about people going in the river to swim.  I know I wouldn't want to swim with alligators.

One of the bridges that cross the river.  The river was very low yesterday.  This is the first time we have seen the water so low.

We saw these berries all around the park.  The only animals were the usual squirel and lizards. The trail off the boardwalk was a little muddy but not so that we couldn't walk it.

Another good day to be out walking.

Pearl Harbor Day

December,7,1941 was indeed a very sad day for the United States of America.  The Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. Many lives were lost and shattered that day.  If you're old enough to remember it,you will never forget.  We have many service men and women to thank for keeping us safe thus far.
This morning Nancy and I have to go to get some blood drawn to make sure the meds that we are taking and other things are ok.  The worse part of it is we can't even have our coffee until we have this over with.

Cold BRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrr

For us it was cold this morning.  The thermometer had a reading of 41° which here in Florida is cold.  It didn't get over 56° yesterday so we are going through our winter time. I sure hope it doesn't last very long.  At least the rain is gone so maybe the dampness will leave soon,  It was cool getting out early and going to church,but with the message from the pastor and the singing,seeing some our friends it was worth it. At least we won't have to worry about snow.  The rest of the day will be like yesterday in that I will be watching ballgames.

Raining Persians & Great Danes

In other words,its been raining cats and dogs all day long.  Not really,but thats what people say when it rains very hard.  On top of that the temperature has dropped and has been setting on 55° all day long.  Nancy and I had to go to Walmart to get our medications filled.  The rain is so cold and its foggy on top of that.  I know that other parts of the country are having worse weather then we are.  So wherever you are I hope you are warm and cozy.

Cardioligist Today

Today was a visit to the cardioligist for a 6 month check up.  Everything was good.  I even lost 10 pounds since the last visit.  From there we stopped by and had an early dinner at a Chinese Restaurant.  Then it was to a store to do a little shopping then we came home.  This still took the biggest part of the day.  Just like last night tonight will be watching ball games again.

Nothing but work again today.  Today it was cleaning and scrubbing the outside of the house.  We did get a chance to walk around the park a short time after eating our little Caesar's "Hot and Ready"pizza.  Once again not exciting but,still the things that have to be done.

Yipee,Hooray

We finally got out and did some walking. That doesn't mean that I'm all caught up on the work around the place.  We went to the John Chesnut Park.  There was a small "gator" to greet us.

There was a new bridge that was built while we were away.  Where there had been two small bridges,they made one nice long one.

We saw this deer along the pathway,it was gray in color and very hard to spot.  They really blend in with the surrounding foilage.

Of course you can always see a squirrel mooching for a hand out.

It sure was good to get out and be walking again. We miss it when we are not able to take time and walk.
