Another week down

Not much of anything different going on, just the boring things that us old people do.

But, that is what you're supposed to do right, like watch a lot of tv which is pretty good.

This passed weekend was a good time watching the NFL playoff games, that is if your team was on the winning side. How about all those college basketball games with the last second winning shots made.

I did a couple loads of laundry, that needs to be taken care of every week or so.  We are close enough to the laundry room that I can put a load in the washer come back to the rig for a half an hour go back put the load in a dryer, back to the rig for an hour to do a little chore then bring the clothes back  and I'm finish with that.

Nancy and I are still on the look-out for a house in a 55+ park.   We looked at a couple this week,  those didn't fit what we were interested in.

Good weather change

Our weather has decided this is Florida, so it has changed.  

Yesterday was clear blue skies and the temperatures in the 70's. The good news it is supossed to be that way for the next seven days.

So after having breakfast of an egg and sausage biscuit plus tomato, Hungarian Hot Pepper to add more taste to it, then I was off to the laundry room to do a load of clothes.

After getting back home I had a little snack for dinner.

Then it was off to Walmart for a few items we needed on the grocery list.

Of course there were times in all of that for a short resting period.

Slow Week

Just doing the necessary things since we don't have any doctors appointments in the near future.

Went to the road side market again to get some more tomatoes at .99 a pound. I like the tomatoes for breakfast as well as I do on sandwiches.

Oh yeah, bought bread at .99, hamburger buns at the cost of .79 at the Bakery Outlet. The cost is for fresh bakery with dates as fresh as in the stores.  I have been to some Bakery Outlets were the items are  past sale dates, but not this one.

Clean the floors again as I have to stay on top of that because no matter how much you clean your shoes there is quite a bit of sand  carried in.

That was one of the best things I did was taking out the old carpet and installing the vinyl flooring.

Yesterday I was watching some college basketball games on the television. 

Nancy has not been feeling very good for the past week but she still does a few things around the rig. She's not one to sit and do nothing.

The weather is still behind on the normal temperatures, being cloudy with hardly any sunshine.

Trying to stay busy

The laundry room finaly got open after being down since early November. It was supposed to be down for remodeling, but the only thing I saw inside was that it got a new paint job on the walls and ceiling.

 Also three of the washers were out of order. I did do three loads of laundry and that saved me some time by not having to drive five miles down the road to a laundromat.

The week has been around the same as the week before in that I took the rugs out for a good shaking, aweept the floors then used the swiffer to shine them up.

 Yesterday Nancy put together a really good tasting stir fry. It came out of a frozen pack but she added more noodles and extra spices to make it very good. 

Our weather here is still on the cool side with the temperatures some days being 20* lower than normal, still better than having snow.

Nikita Khrushchev's speech

Nikita Khrushchev sent chills down my spine In 1956 when I heard Russia’s Communist leader Nikita Khrushchev said, “We will take America without firing a shot. We do not have to invade the U.S. We will destroy you from within....” I distinctly remember thinking , “That will never happen.” And now I am horrified to see Khrushchev’s words coming true.

Maybe not Khrushchev but maybe someone else.

  That statment I have thought of many times down through the years. A sad day in America yesterday.

Cabbage Rolls and Football

Nancy and I made it into the start of a New Year. We did as planned for new years eve.

The cabbage was rolled and put in the pot to cook. The last two years we have been doing them a little different in that we have cooked them in the Instant Pot instead of on the stove. Doing the cabbage rolls in the Instant Pot for 72 minutes vs low heat overnight on the stove top is much better.

Of course when they were ready we had to sample them to make sure they would pass the test.

Yup, good to go, Nancy said they were better than last year.

So yesterday it was eating cabbage rolls and watching football.

A nice relaxing day with the children calling wishing us a Happy New Year.
