I'm still doing a few small things around the motorhome. Our water heater has been acting up using the propane to heat the water. It has been slow to ignite and some times not lighting at all. In trying to solve the problem and fix it I tried several things. I found that flipping the switch located in the motorhome rapidly several time in a row and leaving it on the heater would come on. So after ordering a new switch from Amazon and installing it that it seems another problem is cured.
Problems, problems always problems!
We are still having the heavy rain showers each day and yesterday was no different with the rain that is. The difference is that we went to Culloden to see Peach and Don. For the most part of the 100 mile trip it rained and at times so hard that I thought I would have to pull off the road and wait it out.
It was so hard that when someone would pass me I could not see their tail lights when they where just 30 yards ahead of me. Yes I said pass me as there are those that never slow down no matter what the road conditions are.
Don is scheduled to have his triple by-pass operation on August the 4th and Jackie, Nancy and I wanted to go see them.
We are still going up the 4th when he has the operation to be with the family.
After having our conversations for a couple of hours it was time to eat a bite so we ordered from Giovanni's. Don had a personal pizza Jackie and Nancy had the baked spaghetti Peach had a ham and cheese sub and I had a steak and cheese sub with onions, pepper.
Don and I when to pick up our order and after getting back we all dug in and had a good meal.
After we ate we enjoyed talking for another 3 hours then it was time for our 2 hour trip back home.
Needless to say getting back home we were somewhat tired.
Nancy and I spend the rest of the evening on our computers and watching a little tv.
It was a very good day.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.
This is the travels of Joe and Nancy. Nancy is part Cherokee and I'm Hungarian, thus the name of our blog. We started full timing May,1,2000. We traveled in our motorhome visiting beaches, state parks, national parks, corp of engineer parks. We have overnighted in Walmarts, 24 hour grocery store, boat ramps, FlyingJ. Now with health issues and old age. Plus, we have not used the motorhome in a few years, this part of our life has come to an end.

On a hill
Yesterday afternoon I went to Morehead to get a few things.
The first stop was at the Walmart store for a few groceries and then the pharmacy to get a couple of items for Nancy. As soon as I loaded up the car with the things it started raining and then it really turned loose into a first class storm.
Next stop was the Kroger station for some gas which was priced at $2.06. So I thought well using my Kroger card I will get it for $2.03. But to my surprise when I inserted the Kroger card it said If I wanted use it and save 10 cent a gallon. You bet I wanted the gas at $1.96 a gallon. The only problem was the car only took 6 gallon to fill up.
I started to go in the Kroger store when Nancy called and said she forgot to put a few things on the store order. I told her it was storming here and she said the sun was shinning back at the motorhome.
Now for the on a hill part. On the mountain where Jackie lives all scattered about are houses and cabins of all sizes.
Some large ones that are lived in full time and small one for a weekend stay.
On the way back from Morehead I got stopped by the major road work going on.
I also get stopped by these two small deer crossing the road. Once they were in a safe place they posed for me to take a photo of them.
After being home from the store for a couple of hours the storm caught up with me for a double dose of the rain.
It did cool of and bring the temperature down to 75* and that was good enough to run the Fantastic fan. The fan with the window open above the head of the bed we had a nice cool breeze coming in all night.
Thanks for stopping by and have a grat day.

Good Sunday afternoon
Yesterday afternoon our daughter Vicki came from Lexington to spend the night with us.
Later in the day I went out hooked the water hose up and filled our fresh water tank. I like to use the water out of the tank so it is always fresh instead of letting the water set for too long.
While I had the hose hooked up I decided to just go ahead and wash some on the motorhome.
The temperature was 95* and even though I took my time I was soaking wet with sweat.
After putting the water hose up I went in to cool off under the air-conditioner.
Later on we watched a good movie staring Harrison Ford on the tv with the Amazon Prime channel that we have.
By the time the movie was over with the bathroom breaks and the snack breaks we took it was time to get ready for bed.

Change in plans
Our loose plans of maybe leaving next weekend have changed.
Our brother-in-law Don is scheduled to have triple by-pass surgery on the 4th of August so we want to stay for that and longer if we are needed in some helpful way. Nancy and I like a lot of things but we love family first.
I had ordered a couple of stainless steel bay door holders from Amazon that came in yesterday so I put them on. The ones that were on the motorhome were plastic they became brittle and broke. So with those two on now all the bay doors have the stainless steel type.
We are going through a hot spell here in Kentucky and yesterday the temperature was in the middle 90's when a rain storm hit, As the rain was hitting the roof of the motorhome while I was on my computer I became sleepy so I had a short nap. When I woke up and noticed the temperature the thermometer had 71 degrees on it. A 20 degree drop in less than 2 hours. That was a nice relief from the heat.
Nancy and I watched a movie on the Roku that we have.
We do not have Netflix, but being an Amazon Prime member we get movies and tv programing about the same as Netflix free.

Kabobs
Wednesday is usually Jackie's shopping with her daughter Chris. They wanted to know if we would like to meet for dinner in Morehead. We said sure that it would be nice and Nancy had a few things she needed to get also. When we got to Morehead Nancy called Jackie to see where they wanted to meet and have dinner, Jackie said they decided on Cracker Barrel.
So Cracker Barrel it was. We had a nice meal and Jackie said she would pick up the tab. Thank you so much Jackie. The best part was just being able to just sit with Chris and Jackie talking and enjoying the time together. After getting thru we told Jackie that we needed to do some shopping also and that we would take her back home with us so Chris would not have to make the trip of taking her and then coming all the way back to Morehead. So that worked out real well for all of us.

Yesterday looking in the freezer I saw a pack of boneless pork ribs so I told Nancy I would I would cut them up and make us some kabobs. She called Jackie and told her that we would do the supper.
This was the first time that I had try grilling kabobs so I told them it might turn out good. But in the end with Nancy fixing some sides to go with the kabobs it tasted pretty good. I may try it again at some point down the road.
Nancy and I watched the last night of the RNC up until the end then we were ready for bed.

Some cleaning
Yesterday we were going to go to Morehead to do the laundry but Nancy didn't feel up to it so she checked with Jackie to see if she could do it in her washer and dryer. Jackie said it would be alright and it also gave them some time to visit.
I in the mean time was doing some needed cleaning on the motorhome in some of the places that doesn't get cleaned that often.
I buy the new filters for the two ceiling air-conditioners and cut them to size. I buy these at Walmart for $1.00 a pack and there is enough to make three filters.
When you live fulltime in an RV it would be a good idea to wear blinders because when you look around you always see that something needs to do done.
Jackie brought over some of her homemade chili Monday so I had hot dogs to eat for two days.
Some people don't like to eat the same food for two days in a row, but when I like a certain food I could eat it three or four days in a row.
I have been watching the RNC show on television. and probably watch the Democrat show when the come on. When you watch politicians its always how good they are and how bad the other guy is.
Today is going to be another hot day.

good weekend
Saturday was a day of a few chores. Like vacuuming, taking out the garbage and burning papers. Also Jackie had some corn on the cob that I shucked.
Nancy fixed me some cabbage and noodles. She doesn't do that very often because it is hard on the arteries(but good for the stomach). This is a combination of wide noodles and cabbage with a little vegetable oil ummm. Plus Jackie brought over some of the fresh cooked corn which really fresh and very good. When I say fresh I mean fresh like someone had just brought it fresh picked out of their garden. She has such good neighbors that brings fresh garden vegetables.
The motorhome was sometimes hard to start like not making good contact so I put a new battery terminal on.
Yesterday was church day that Nancy was feeling well enough to go. She says she is getting stronger but gets tired quick. It was a nice but hot and sunny day.
We are suppose to have the temps around 90 for the week with maybe four day with a chance of rain.

Dump day
Yesterday was a little different. We have a great place here at Jackie's in that we have electric, water, able to watch our satellite. We can even use her internet if we want to but we have our hotspot that we are using. All that plus we are in the shade of nice large trees.
But we do have to dump and yesterday was the day. After two weeks yesterday was the day.
So after getting ready it was time to clear all the lumber and head down to Twin Knob Campground to where you can use the dump for $6.00. Which is a fare price and it doesn't take long to get there and back.
So now we are good for another few weeks.
The only small problem is I must have did something wrong in that I now have a sore back.

Big Boy
Yesterday morning it was nice when we woke up. Even when I went out to clean up inside of the car a little bit, cleaned the windows then the sun had come out. After that I went back inside to get on the computer while Nancy was getting ready for our trip to Winchester to pick up our medicine from Walgreens.
By the time we were ready to go it began a steady rain, so much for cleaning the car windows.
After getting in the car and picking up Jackie we were on our way. Getting on the interstate I always do my driving speed according to what the weather is but a lot of drivers just keep on going fast no matter the road conditions. During our less than an hour trip the weather was changing from rain to sunshine the entire trip.
Our first stop was Walgreens from there I stopped at a Murphy's Express for gas at $1.97 to fill up.
After getting the gas we went to Frisch's Big Boy to eat. It has been a long time since we have eaten at a Big Boy. The food was good and fresh tasting.
Before leaving I just had to get a photo of the Big Boy out in front of the restaurant.
Big Boy and little ladies.
I just had to get this picture of Jackie and Nancy. Sorry for cutting you feet off ladies.
The trip back was nice with no rain and the roads all dried up.
A very good day indeed.

Visit from Vicki
Everything here is about the same.
Here is a photo of the road that goes through a deep mountain when we go into Morehead.
Then after coming through the mountain on down the mountain you cross a bridge ad the Cave Run Lake.
I have gone to the stores in Morehead several times a week.
Then the same road on the way back.
We have to go to Winchester today to the Walgreens to pick up our prescription refills.
It was to have them filled at a different pharmacy or drive the distance to Winchester. Rather than going through sometimes a hassel we elected to just do the drive.
Our daughter Vicki came from Lexington Sunday to visit and stay overnight. We had a good visit with her as we always do.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Some maintenance
Yeah doing a little clean up on the Champion generator putting a new spring on replacing the rusted out one. Also checking the Dometic refrigerator, and the water heater. The water heater wasn't lighting the propane. So upon checking found that the lighter wasn't making a good ground.
Always like to keep up on all of the things and try to catch things before it is a problem.
The rain has stopped and had a nice day with sunshine.
We may be staying here a little longer than planned. While staying at Nancy's sister Peach and husband Don last week he complained several times that he was feeling weak. So he went to the doctor and they found he had 70% blockage so we will be hanging around in case we are needed.

Rain again
It just keeps on raining every day that we have been here at Jackie's place and more of the same in is in forecast for today.
I had to go in town to do some shopping yesterday. My first stop was Tractor Supply to fill the 20# tank. I could have exchanged it at the many places that have the tanks but by having it filled for $7.10 vs $19.95 is a no brainer. Next stop was Lowes where I was looking for a quart of kool Seal paint but they only had it in the gallon size which is way more than I need. From there it was to the Kroger for some groceries.
Jackie made me some of her chicken and dumplin's yesterday so I pigged out on that ummmm good.
Nancy had a bad day yesterday so she took it easy and rested.
Today I will have to check out the water heater because turning on the propane it fail to light.
I put on the full tank and have propane at the stove but no the water heater. There is no clicking sound so I will first check the switches to see why they are not working and go from there.
If you have an rv you may as well get use to things not working because its not unusual that you are checking and working on something.

Happy 4th
Happy Independence Day to everyone and let us not forget the people that gave us the freedom that we have.
Saturday Jackie had hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad, baked beans and butterscotch delight and yummy was it good. Needless to say all we could do after that was sit around the rest of the day.
And yes Nancy and I are gaining some weight with her sisters cooking good food for us to eat.
Yesterday we went to church and heard a good sermon. After coming home changing close we had the good leftovers to eat and they where just as good as it was Saturday.
After waiting on the food to digest I went out to set up the satellite dish. I can't use the one that is on top of the motorhome because of the surrounding trees. Jackie has an old dish that I use when I'm here and take it out to where I can get a clear view of the sky.
We had rain and mostly cloudy skies yesterday and it looks like that is the way it will be today.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

In Kentucky
After getting ready yesterday I unhooked the electric, water and sewer. After telling Peach and Don our goodbyes we were off. But not for long Nancy wanted to stop at the Walmart to get a few things and we had a bite to eat the we got on I-64 heading to Kentucky.
In about 15 minutes we were crossing into Kentucky. The trip was pleasant and uneventful, the scenery was beautiful with the rolling hills. There is a lot of truck traffic on this interstate which keeps moving at the speed limit.
In another hour we came to our exit of Morehead. We thought the town would be crowded because of the holiday weekend but it was normal traffic.
We got to Jackie's around 5:00 I unhooked the car and backed up the drive way into the spot were I always park. The gravel way is a little up hill so I have to drive upon the ramps I made years ago the use the levelers to finish getting level. After setting everything up we visited the rest of the evening.

Kentucky time
Yesterday it was evening time when we got to our visiting with Peach and Don. Nancy not feeling the best but the prescription medication working she looked much better and the swelling gone down quite a bit. Peach had her hair cut. When we visit family we always tell them to not worry about us and go on with their regular things they do.
We did get together and ordered from the Giovanni's Restaurant. Don had a chicken alfredo personal pizza and the rest of us three had the baked spaghetti with cheese that tasted extra good.
To day we will be packing and putting everything in the motorhome for the traveling mode.
We will spend some time with Jackie in Wellington which is close to Morehead, Kentucky.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.
