What a day

The last few days has not been the best for me.  I woke up yesterday and after a few hours I had some pain which I supposed was gas pain that moved al around my body.  At times it was completely gone so I can handle that.

Back to the Direct TV Receiver I  bought a two receiver deal off Ebay of two receivers and yesterday they came in.  You know when you by off Ebay at times it is a crap shoot.
I unwrapped the receivers and was surprised when they looked like new.
So I connected all the wiring put the receiver in place turned it on and sparks flew then a puff of smoke.  I didn't get excited only a little disappointed, at least the gas pain wasn't bothering me at the time and I did have the other receiver.
So connecting the other receiver up turning it on yes it was working fine instructions on the television screen.  I went though all the "click for English" to the end up to the signal strength 98% all was good.  Clearing the menu and seeing looking at the screen seeing looking for satellite all excited but then, but then, it never did find the satellite even though it says I have 98% signal.

I then called Direct TV of course I get a recording telling me to listen carefully as the menu has changed.  press one through five for the reason I'm calling which was none of the five things.
So here I am talking to a recording and I'm calling the recording dumb.
Yeah you're laughing like you haven't done that before.
Ok some how I do get a real person and the only thing I can understand is hello my name is Allejandro.  I'm thinking, oh no I've talked with him before but he had another name before.

So I hang up and call again and was so glad I finally got a guy called "Scott" who could really talk to me without going through his list of things to try.
After Scott realized I had a RCA receiver and Direct TV doesn't have technical suppose for those receiver any more but he would try a few things to do to help me.
After trying all the things he mentions and they did not worked he suggested getting a receiver from
Direct TV.  They had the by a new receiver for  $149.95 or leasing a used one for the price of $21.00
with no monthly payments.  The only thing was that I'm to return the receiver if I cancel my contract with Direct TV.  That was a no brainer for me and the receiver will be here in a couple of days.

                                              What a Day!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

A cold rainy day

This is what it looked like on the way back from the dumpster yesterday not even a little peek from the sun.
So now the problem with the Direct TV Receiver and not being able to watch the College Basketball games on satellite.
We do have a Roku with a ESPN app so I checked that out and it brought a smile to my face when I had seen I could get all the games I wanted to see.  I saw two games on the Roku and one of the with the house top antenna.

The temperature yesterday did not make it up to 60 so it was a good day to be inside.
By the looks of it today will be another inside day.
Last night around 10:00 it started a slow drip, drip of rain on the roof and did so all night.

Then this morning with a high in the 40's temp the rain came on a little more and looks as though it will last the rest of the day.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Up and down streets.

I'm still keeping up with my walking and seem to be getting a little stronger but it is going to be tough keeping it up.
I do my walking around the park after breakfast and yesterday I also went to the USA Flea Market to look around but mostly to do more walking.
This is a photo of the old water tank from back in the day when the park had their own well.  That was some years back as they are now on the city water system.
The streets have an incline on them so it a little more effort than if they were level.
This is suppose to be a storage yard but it looks more like part of them have not been moved in years.
The storage yard does not belong to the park.
There is a boat repair shop also.

Yesterday evening our Direct TV Satellite Receiver went out like quit working it just lost all power and oh me today is College Basketball game day.
So I'm going to have to find a way to see what I can do about that. I did order a receiver off Ebay but it will be a week before it comes in.
This morning the temperature took a deep dive it is 47* when we awoke. It will be a cool day with the temperature maybe not getting to 60*

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Laundry Day

After eating breakfast the was a sausage & egg biscuit with lettuce on it I started getting ready for the day.
First up was letting the patio awning out now that the wind had stopped blowing.
Next was to shake out the small rugs that went under our lounge chair that are part of the patio furniture.
A few of the cactus around the park.

I started my walking after a small rest period from letting the awning out.
I'm gaining a little strength in my walking except when I start going up the small incline of the streets I get some aching in the hip joint on my right side.
Always some kind of ach when old age comes around.
Just like when you have a car or truck with a lot of mileage.
Spanish Moss looks nice hanging in the tree of the south but as the years go by it kills out the trees.

After my walk it was time to do the laundry that take up about 2 1/2 hours of the day.

Neither of us were very hungry so Nancy looked into the freezer and took out a couple of Burrito's to put in the micro.
The Burrito's tasted really good I added a little Texas Pete Hot Sauce to mine for a little extra kick.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Jason Sexton "Tattoo Artist".

Yesterday morning the temperature was 58* but it finally got up to 72* with a little wind still blowing which made it feel cooler.

I got a little over two miles in walking I want to increase the up slowly in an effort to gain more strength.

I took the trash out to the dumpster yesterday evening, I stopped to join a couple of guys that were talking and in pulls a Trek motorhome wanting to use the dump station which was near by.
A young man got out to connect the hose for the dump and I struck up a conversation with him as he dumping his tanks and taking on fresh water.
He said he has been full timing since July, he also told me he has not stayed in a campground all this time.
He has stayed at Walmart Store's, Casino's and etc. He seemed to enjoy the Casino Boondocking.
The young fella's name is Jason Sexton a pleasant young man.  Jason invited me in to see what he has done to his Trek which he has made it his small "Man Cave" on the road.
Jason is an accomplished "Tattoo Artist" that does his work in Black and Gray, and is doing this on the road as he travels.

The rest of the evening was computer time and watching television.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

High winds and Tornado

Saturday was a pretty good day.  I got some more walking in and watched a couple of college basketball games.
The weather was nice and sunny with some wind blowing. I think everyone was waiting for Sunday afternoon to see what the weather had in for us.

Yesterday the weather was the same as Saturday up until around 2:30 then it broke loose.  The skies darkened and the wind picked up speed.  Later on when I was watching the play-off football game the weather forecast was breaking in on the football game giving the latest report.  Still no problem until around 6:00 when the said that a possible tornado was on the ground a couple of miles south of us.  I was heading toward us and that we should head for shelter.
So Nancy and I went to the club house to join the couple dozen people that had already gathered there.   We stayed there for half an hour before we heard the high wind missed us and was north of us.

The heavy wind and rain lasted through out the night and continues this morning.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Weather Forecast not so good

After doing the morning chores, taking the trash to the dumpsters it was time to take Nancy  to her Hair Dresser.

I was sitting close to the Arby's Restaurant while Nancy was getting her hair cut and thought that might be a good place to eat our supper.  Well by the time Nancy was through with getting her hair cut  I has changed my mind.  I needed a few things at the store so I thought I would buy something while I was in the store for supper.

Getting to Winn Dixie and doing the shopping I came out with Barbeque shredded beef.  Now that with slaw and chips tasted mighty fine.

After eating I was outside letting in the patio awning and putting away things that were setting outside.
We have a forecast of thunderstorms and high winds with a possibility of tornado's.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Walking some

I could say that I watched tv all day yesterday but I didn't.
I did take time out to take a few things down to the dumpster and on the way back I went into the club house to check to see if we had any mail.

I also took a walk up and down a couple of streets in the park.
After getting back it was time to tune into the tv again to see what was going on.
After Nancy was ready we went out to walk a couple of streets.
I did get over a mile of walking yesterday so I'm on the way of trying to see if I can keep up with  the walking.
There's a Bake Sale going on today at the Club house.

Today is Saturday so it is the day again for the College Basketball games.
Once again I will have my day interrupted  because Nancy has an appointment to have her hair cut.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

New President today

Yes it is the news of the day.  We have a new President.

Just the things that I do each with taking out the trash or garbage to the dumpster and checking the mail.

I had the appointment with my Cardiologist to see what the results of the Echocardiogram and the Stress Test. The good news was that every thing looked good.  So I imagine that I'm just out of shape.  I asked the Doctor how much I could push myself in getting back in shape?  He said go for it, but start slow and work myself up a little each day.

Nancy and I will no doubt that we will be looking at the television today as will millions of people.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Winter RV Park

Just hanging around the last few day not really doing anything.
I did buy a new shower wall mount to replace the one that is cracked.  As you know when living in a house that has wheels something is always broken or going to break.
The RV Factories put the cheapest things in assembling that they can get away with so you need to keep upgrading.

We took the clothes to the park laundry room to wash and dry them.  So while we are parked we are being more or less like being people living in a house with a foundation instead of one with wheels.
We are here in Winter Paradise RV Resort which is a better park, at least for us  than the one we were in last winter.

We had some leftovers to eat on laundry day so yesterday we were a day late getting our pizza.
We usually have pizza on laundry so yesterday I went to Little Caesar's for a pizza.

Nancy reminded me that she needs to go to the store to get a few things.  That tells me that we have a trip to Walmart to do our shopping because there are as she puts it "only Walmart has it

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Couple of small projects.

I had not planned to do anything yesterday but upon getting outside and looking things over I found a couple of things.
The short hose to the water filter was leaking I thought that adding a new rubber washer would fix the problem, "not so" it didn't cure the problem.
So I was off to Walmart to see if I could get a new end for the water hose. I looked at the price of the new end then the price of a new ten foot water hose.  The new end was half the price of the new hose so I bought a new hose since the hose I was going to repair was several years old.

Getting back home I put in a new filter with the water being off while I put the new hose on which did cure that problem
On to the other small project that was to install new batteries in the clock and also new batteries in the remote temperature sensor that we have that also shows the temperature on the clock.

When it came to supper time we put together things that were  the refrigerator.
But first Nancy put together a carton of Chicken Broth, a can of vegetables and some noodles added in that made for a very tasty and warm beginning to the meal.
There was a bag of salad mix and a couple of chicken tenders so that made a very delicious
Chicken Salad. That with a baked potato was a good combination.
We really ate way to much. Sometimes when you do not plan a meal and just throw together things it will surprise how tasty of a meal you come up with.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Off to St. Pete Airport

Friday:
This day was the day son Joe is the day he is going back to West Virginia to Sherry and Mark's house.  From there he will be going to Gatlinburg, Tennessee to get back to work.
Nancy and I think Joe fell in love with the winter time weather here in Florida.

I took Joe to the St. Pete Airport to catch is plane then it was time for me to head back home but first I had to make a few stops.
First stop was Quality Sausage House to get some special meats that I can't buy anywhere else.  Then it was to Dollar Tree and Winn Dixie which were in within walking distance of each other.

One of the things that I buy in the Dollar Tree is quart size carton of milk. The refrigerator is small and the milk in the carton does not need refrigerated until its open and  has an  expiration date of nearly one year from the time you buy it. So you can buy as many as you want, put one in the frig and the others on a shelf.

Back in the car and on up the road the next stop was Save a Lot for a few items.

Of course yesterday was my College Basketball day.  I did get some necessary things that needed taken care of.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Another good day.

Thursday:

We took our time getting ready today and discussion where we night go since it is son Joe's last day.  He will be leaving tomorrow after visiting us for three weeks.
We decided on going to Crews Lake and upon entering we saw these two Sandhill Cranes.
Joe likes the trees in the south with the Spanish moss hanging from the limbs.
Two large tree on both sides upon entering the pier.

The long pier extending out in the lake.

From the pier you can see the tall tower.

The lake is over grown with lily pads.

It surprised me when I saw a couple flowering lilies in full bloom this early in the year.

After walking and looking at different things our stomachs told us it was time to eat.
I was wanting Joe to eat at the Mariners Restaurant in Spring hill.
He and I took the 8 oz. New York Strip Steak Complete with two sides, drink and dessert for $7.99.
Nancy had the Country Fried Steak two sides a drink and dessert for $7.50.

It was another good day of being out with our son.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Last couple of dasy

The last few days have been pleasant as far as the weather goes.
the temperature in the day time was 72-74  and the night time being 55 just a good sleeping temperature.

The cam lock on the patio awning has not been working for sometime. So Tuesday thinking about it and knowing that the problem was the small spring on the inside was the problem and the right way to repair it would be to take the end off and do it.
I thought more and came up with a solution to repair it with attaching a spring to the outside of the lock.
So for now the lock is working as it should.

Yesterday was just a few more small chores and then it was time to get ready to go to our home town friends Sam and Carolyn.  They had invited us over for dinner and to also to see son Joe whom the have not seen for sometime.
After talking and rehashing some things of the days gone by it was time to eat.
Carolyn has prepared a very delicious pot roast with sides.
After dinner we adjourned  to the Florida room for more conversation and laughter.
It came time to leave after an enjoyable evening, Thank you Carolyn and Sam.

Today and for the next week the day time temperatures will be near 80*.
Also today will be laundry day.  We have no other plans so we shall se what happens.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Couple places visited

Monday was another nice day with the temp in the 72-74 range and lots of sunshine.

We went down to Wall Springs Park for more walking and another place that son Joe hadn't been before.
The Wall Springs had its hay day in the 40's.  There was a hotel with a large pool room enough to lounge around or jump in the mineral spring water,  that was suppose to be good for and heal anything from high blood pressure to kidney disease. It was crowded in the winter time with people from the north.
A few bridges crisscrossing across the flow of mineral water leading out to the Gulf Waters.
The bridges are a good spot for looking straight down and watching the fish.
They have wood and wire benches to sit on.  The wire benches look more like pieces of art rather than a place to sit.
Most of the birds like to flock together, but there are some like the one in the background  that fly off.
Sometimes you just like to be alone.

After tiring ourselves out we stopped at the old town of Tarpon Springs eat at Hella's Restaurant to eat.
This was Joe's first time eating Greek food and he enjoyed his food very much.

A statue of the sponge diver.  Here is a copy of Tarpon Springs sponges.

By 1905, over 500 Greek sponge divers were at work using 50 boats. The early sponge divers created a need at the docks for eating places for the boat crews. ... For 30 years, the sponge industry was the largest industry in Florida—larger than citrus or tourism. Tarpon Springs was known as the “Sponge Capital of the World.”

There are only around six boats that have divers collecting the sponges now.

A large boat repair shop across the bay from the Sponge Docks.

We had a very nice day of the places today.

All that and still had time to watch the College Football Champion Game.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Warmer and Sunny

Friday there was rain most of the night and the rain was heavy during the night.  It also continued all the way into Saturday afternoon

Saturday morning when we got up the temperature was 31* and felt colder.
But that was ok because we had the small electric heater on all night.

Joe and I went to the store because we needed a few groceries and my college basketball games didn't come on until later.

The temperature this morning is 39* so a little warmer and the temperature is suppose to go up to 68*.  So with a nice day we are going to get out and on the go if things do not change.

Son Joe is going back home Friday so we still have a couple of places we want to show him.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

James E. Grey Preserve

Thursday Nancy, son Joe and I went to the James E. Grey Preserve to do some walking and to show Joe some more of the different parks we have in the area.
We told Joe that the road was rough and full of pot holes, after you leave the main  road and out to the Preserve. But we had a surprise after turning off the main road, the road to the Preserve had a new asphalt surface on it which made a world of difference.
Also getting out to the river they had extended the boardwalk and added a kayak launch pad
We were glad to see the improvements that were made.
The river has a nice smooth flow to it with hardly a ripple.
This place looks like a real jungle
A nice 1/4 mile of boardwalk the makes it nice for Nancy, because she takes her walker when we are out here.
This is one scenic spot I like with the small island in the river with the tallest palm tree in the preserve on it.
Its a jungle out there.  At the end of the boardwalk there is a wide dirt trail, which Joe and I took.  Nancy waited on us at the  gazebo that is at the end of the boardwalk.
A couple of geese enjoying the day swimming in the river.
A couple of leaves to remind us that it is winter time even though the temperatures were in the middle 70's.
Even a flower or two here in the winter months.
Son Joe enjoyed taking a bunch of photos and the day here while where he lives in Tennessee has four inches of snow.
We had a very nice day with us stopping at Applebee's for supper.

Today is my watching college basketball games.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Another project finished

After the day time temperature being 84*  Wednesday the weather changed.
We had a cooling down with a cool rain Wednesday night and the way I found out was we usually sleep with the window that is over our heads was open.  Yeah that happened the rain woke me up during the night and it felt kind of cold on my head.
Yesterday was an overcast day with the temperature only getting up to 74*.
Nancy prepared us another Hungarian dish of Smoked Sausage, potatoes and rigatoni noodles.

It also started off with caramelize onions then spiced up with salt, black pepper and Hungarian Paprika.  Son Joe and I really enjoyed it.

Son Joe and I also installed new widow awnings.
The first one took around an hour and a half.  Because I had to get all the tools to do the project and the second one was less than an hour to finish up.

It is going to get up to around 74* today so we might get a chance to get out and do something.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Stressful Day

Needless to say yesterday was a very different day for me.
I've had people tell me about their experience taking the Chemical Stress Test but I guess maybe there are several ways of doing it.
I had visions of just lying on the table while the chemical goes through the body.  Not so, I was sitting up with the chemical entering my body.  First there was the warm feeling in the head then it really hitting me in the chest with a great deal of pressure.  All this and at the same time the tech had me kicking my feet high in the air first the right then the left.  This went on for five minutes and this morning my thighs are sore.
Also the tech did tech did the imaging of my heart before the test and afterward at 45 minutes each time. All of the took three hours.
I have an appointment with the Cardiologist The 17th of this month for the results.

After leaving the lab I had stops at Little Caesar's for a couple of pizza's for supper, then a stop in Dollar General And last it was Winn Dixie for a few groceries.

Getting home taking all the stuff inside then eating and waiting for a while I took a short nap.

I woke up in time to watch a college basketball game and then it was off to bed.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

New Year New Week

The temperature did get in the low 80's yesterday and the weather person said today will be the same with near record high.  The only difference is that today and tomorrow there is a chance of rain.

This is the small party tray that I put together for us on New Years Eve it was small but it was more than enough for us.
We also had the leftover cabbage and noodles for our dinner yesterday.

Well this first week of the new year starts me off different.  Today I will not be able to eat anything after 1:00 because tomorrow at 1:00 pm I will be under going a Pharmacologic Isotope Stress Test.
Which means I will not be eating anything from 1:00 pm today until 5:00 tomorrow.  The only part of that I will not like is having my coffee in the morning.
But I told my cardiologist that I'm wanting to find out why I tire out so quick when I'm working on something.
He has been telling me that I am getting old and I tell him I can't believe that is the reason although I will be 79 in four months.  We shall see.

I hope your week is starting out good in the new year and keeps that way all year for you.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Happy New Year

First I want to wish you a Happy new Year.  I hope the new year brings you much health and happiness.  If we have that then all the other things we have are just an added bonus.

Yesterday I spent the day just like many people watching the college basketball and the football games.  I'm sure more were watching the football games to see who will be in the College Football Championship Game.
Nancy prepared us a meal of cabbage and noodles.  We used to have cabbage rolls on New Years Day but the last few years we have kind of dropped the ball on that.
The temperature yesterday was 74*  and today it is going to be 84* so it will be very nice.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.
