60 th Anniversary

Nancy, son Joe and I went to the Sioux City Steakhouse yesterday evening because I didn't want to be out in the crowd that will start today and last past midnight.
I almost forgot to take a photo of my steak and fries meal but here is half of it.  Nancy had the
Chicken Alfredo and Joe also had the steak

The big celebration is that today is Nancy and my 60th Wedding Anniversary.  Yeah its been that long and I have to say the years seem to have been short.
Here is a nice side street that I like to travel and be off the main crowded highway.

Today will be my usual College game day the a little football and a little basketball.
Then later we will watch the Ball Drop like a few other million people.

If you are going to be out late tonight be careful because I want you to be back here in the coming days.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Laundry Day

Yesterday after our breakfast of an egg and ham on toast sandwich Joe and I took a couple of loads of laundry down to the park laundry room to wash and dry.
I also paid the rent while I was down there.

After getting back Joe wanted to get out and walk for a while.  He went by himself  Nancy and I stayed home doing some small chores.
around 3:30 pm I got online and ordered us a large any toppings pizza From Pizza Hut for $10.00 plus tax.  It would have cost a few more dollars if I had waited until I got to the restaurant and ordered it and would had to wait for it to be ready.  This way it was ready when I got there.
The pizza sure tasted good.

I watched a college football bowl game and then a college basketball game.  That took me up to bed time.

We got up earlier this morning because Nancy and I have to have blood dawn that our doctor has ordered.  Of course we can't have anything to eat until we do this so we may end up eating out.  I hope they take us in quickly for the blood work or we may end up ordering too much food for breakfast.

Thaks for stopping by and have a great day.

John Chesnut Park

We did get out yesterday and were off to John Chesnut Park. It has been a while since we have visited the park and I have to say even though it was warm we enjoyed it.
We were disappointed as we walked across the wooden bridge to the picnic area you could hardly see the water with all the vegetation growing in it.
But when we got to the Tarpon Lake we could see some small alligators about two feet long. They were moving slow maybe trying to sneak up on something.  They were small but I'd say they could sure put a bite on you.
I guess the old black bird was looking for a bug on the lily pad?
Some of the trees had the yellow flowers bloomed out on them.
Yeah the ever present squirrels were there jumping and skipping around.
The big blue lake sure looked good and cool.  No sir I didn't stick my hand in it to find out, might bring up a stub with those gators swimming around. I could tell by the breeze that was coming off the lake that it was cool.

Joe and I walked around on the boardwalk quite a distance while Nancy sat on a bench in the shade waiting on us.  I could tell I'm out off shape because that wore me out.

On the way back home we stopped at the Steak and Shake to get us some supper because it was getting late and we were getting hungry.

When we got back home we fell in our chairs to rest or maybe from eating to much.  We watched a little tv and was on our computers for a little and that the way our day ended.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Aripeka, Florida

Yesterday Joe and I went for a ride to look around the area for things he had not seen here.

We went to Aripeka, this is a small community that I enjoy driving through a few times when we are here for the winter months.  This small place has not changed hardly any since the 40's and maybe longer than that.  I will not go into detail about it but if you google it you will find a little bit of good reading.
Aripeka on the gulf, the biggest thing going on that I can see is kayaking and fishing which is done by boat or fishing off the bridge.  The community does set a short distance back from the main gulf but easy to navigate out to.  There are several houses on a piece of land that juts out in the water with a lovely view.
A Pelican watching a boat going by maybe thinking wonder if they will catch anything.
It was a nice 84* and sunny day for Joe and I to be out.
Someone has a nice view from their backyard.
It must be nice to have your own orange tree for that fresh squeezed orange juice in the morning.
The water back in the sawgrass and mangrove trees.

I had to wake up early this morning and get to the doctors office for the echocardiogram.
Since I was up and out it was a good time for all of us to get out and see what we could get into.
After getting back from the echocardiogram we are now waiting for Nancy to complete her chore of getting ready.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Christmas shopping and such

Yesterday was another full day sort of like busy and yet just a little of  nothing special.

The first in order was son Joe and I after getting ready to face the day was off to the Flea Market to see if they had anything that we couldn't do without.

I have no idea we went into the vendor that had some computer stuff to look around.  In doing that I saw a few computers on display and looking at the prices of the refurbished computers there was one that had a pretty good price.  I kept looking at it and thinking and looking and thinking that Nancy is always complaining how slow her small note book computer was.  Then I have been thinking of a Christmas present for her.  So by buying the computer it solved two problems.
Her complaining and buying her a Christmas present.

Getting back from the Flea Market we picked up Nancy to go to have something to eat before doing other things. I also wanted to get to the Royal Buffet  for the dinner price of $6.99 and I also had coupons for free drinks.

After eating a little too much we were back on route 19 where we saw two different accidents involving three or four cars each I stopped at the Save A Lot to get some canned vegetables.

The next stop was Walmart to get some groceries for Nancy to fix Christmas Dinner.
I guess you know that did take quite a while with the crowd doing their last minute shopping.
The cashier lines where long and the Customer Service line much longer with people already bringing things back.

After getting back home, putting things away Nancy wanted me to set up her new computer with the things that she had on her small computer.
You know how the rest of the evening went,

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Long Day

Thursday was getting a haircut day so off to the barber I get my hair cut.  The photo is the shop front and yes that is the three Stooges. Larry the Barber is crazy about the Three Stooges and Larry is 88 years old so that kinda explains it all.  The new news with Larry is he has sold his place to another fella and the rate for a haircut has gone up $2.00 still a fair price of $10.00.
From the barber it was to the Winn Dixie for a few groceries.   Always got to get the grub.
Yesterday was a long day for Nancy and I in that our son Joe was coming to visit us for a few weeks.
He was coming in by plane to the St Pete Airport and arrival time was 8:17pm.
As long as we were going that way I wanted to go earlier to go to the 1st Quality Sausage House that has Hungarian and German meats and sausages the different things I grew up eating. The place has a closing time of 6:00.
Then It was across the Bayside Bridge at sunset and it was a nice sunset indeed.
We had not eaten anything since breakfast we went to the Country Skillet Restaurant after looking over the menu we chose the chicken stir fry and it was a very good choice as it tasted delicious.
By the time we had finished our food it was time to go to the airport.
Getting settled in our seats in the airport to wait I told Nancy I would check to see the arrival time and wouldn't you know it will be 20 minutes late.
We later found out that the flight upon landing where Joe was to board had hit a deer on the runway.

But anyway it was 11:00pm by the time we got back home and needless to say we got ready and went to bed.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

T-Bone Steak?

Things are moving right along I've cleaned out the inside of the car which was long overdue.
That was Monday I also grilled a large T-Bone steak or what was suppose to be a T-Bone one.
It had the bone but the meat just didn't taste, looked like or have the color of beef.  This piece of meat was like a piece of pork, the same texture as pork.  So, what was it?  Will any of my readers please tell me?

Yesterday was a doctors appointment with my Cardiologist we always set up appointment for when we get back to Florida to see if there has been any changes.
I told the doctor I still was getting more tired at doing things than I thought I should be so he took an EKG and  then told me he wanted to do a couple of more test in the next few weeks.  So if anything shows up I hope he will be able to take care of it.  He did with a grin mention if I felt like an old man and I at the age of soon to be 79 had to confess that I did.

It was a little late when I got back from the doctor so I told Nancy we could just eat a sandwich and some macaroni for our supper.  It tasted very good and I was satisfied with it.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Got out today

Yesterday Nancy didn't feel like getting out to do anything so I thought I would.
The weather was nice and sunny with short pants and short sleeve shirt weather off I went.
First it was to the flea market to look a little bit and to get some walking in.
From the it was to a small park to lookout onto the gulf waters.  Its hard to believe we have been here almost two months and this is the first chance to do this.  A small patch of land out there and an old house on stilts.  It sure was a site for the eyes to see the nice blue water.
Closer into shore was the over growth of mangrove trees that are really thick.
Then a mile on down the road I went to the Port Richey Waterfront Park to see if they had the old pier repaired or a new one in its place.
A short walk out to the bay water.
If that walk tires you out you can sit on one of the many benches along the way. From here you can gaze upon the water and enjoy the warm breeze.  Just watch out that you don't fall asleep and fall off the park bench.
A nice size bay area for fishing a sailing a boat.
A closer look at the house on the other shore. There is also a small park along there that we have been to several times.
You are sure to see a bird or two each time you are out along any gulf shore or even the smallest of lakes.  Just be aware there gators in the fresh water.
It would have been better with Nancy but I have to say it was a very enjoyable time getting out to the water.  Or as Nancy says to relieve my cabin fever.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Kentucky and North Carolina

Waking up yesterday and starting the morning out right Nancy had us the Saturday morning special as I call it. The reason it is special is that the other mornings we have something that she can just throw in the microwave or the toaster.
We had eggs, tomatoes, sweet mini peppers, onions, bacon, sausage with toast and coffee.
The sausage was a pork sausage and something new that we bought it tasted real good.
After doing our things after breakfast it was time to get to my usual Saturday things.

You know what Saturday means for me if you have been following my blog.  Its College Game Day.
I saw a few of the basketball games that where good but then came the game I was waiting on for a few days.
As it turned out Kentucky and North Carolina was the game. If you missed this one you missed possible the game of the season. Man it was shootout at the OK Corral.

We went to sleep with the window open  last night and the temperature being 64*.
Waking up this morning and in a little while at 8:00 the temperature was 74 I turned on the Fantastic Fan so we would have a little breeze in the motorhome.
The high today will be 84* humid so it will be stay in mostly with the air-conditioner running.

Thanks for stopping bu and have a great day.

Dinner out

Yesterday after doing our morning on our computers checking emails and blogs it was time to start our day.
I was the first to get ready as it always is so while Nancy was getting ready I took a load of laundry down to the campground laundry room to do.
After getting back to the motorhome I asked Nancy where she wanted to have dinner today.

It was off to Niko's Place where we have eaten a few times before but not at least a year.  We like Niko's because they have a large salad bar but when we walked in we saw the salad bar was taken out what a bummer.  Any way when we ordered what we wanted the waitress did bring us a large family bowl of salad and bread to start us out so not to bad.

From the restaurant I went to Harbor Freight for a couple of things.

On the way back home we took the trip through  New Port Richey and around Orange Lake to see the large Christmas Cards they have up this time of year.
At one point the Egrets decided to walk across the street in front of me.

Then it was out to the very crowded route 19 to go home.
Everyone here is always in a hurry with so many cars on this route that you really have to keep your eyes on the road. If not you may end up in a four vehicle accident like the cars in the photo above did.

There was a stop at the Winn  Dixie dessert later.  Nancy wanted pie so I lucked out on the because they had Edwards Pie buy one get one free.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Nothing new

Thursday Like each morning getting up before Nancy does and checking the blogs I follow plus checking the email.  As others do I have my daily routine each and every morning to start the  day.
By the time Nancy gets up to get our breakfast my stuff is usually finished.
Then there is the duty of taking the trash to the dumpster and checking the mail which we hardly ever get unless I notify our mail forwarding people to send what we have. The mail part only happens around once a month unless I'm waiting on some special mail.
Yesterday Nancy prepared our supper of cubed pork, sweet potatoes, mixed vegetables, onions and I cut up hot peppers for myself. The only way Nancy eats hot pepper is to fry it with eggs. That takes the hot taste out and still flavors the combination with the eggs.

We had a cool night for sleeping but not so cool that we needed any heat. The temperature got down to 50* and that what it was when we awoke this morning. Checking the temperature this morning on the computer I saw where our kin folks in West Virginia and Kentucky the temperature was 12 and 13 degrees.  Our temperature is going to be up to 78* today.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Visiting Friends

Yesterday after noon we went to visit our home town friends from West Virginia Sam and Carolyn who now live in Kentucky for a few hours to how they were doing and to catch up on the latest news.  It was good seeing them once again and spending the time with them.
From there we went to the roadside market to get a few things and them I stopped at little Caesar's for a Hot and Ready Pepperoni Pizza.  After getting back home we warmed the pizza up a bit with me cutting up some hot peppers on mine to add that little extra zing to it, tasted really good.

Nice and sunny today with a temperature of 80* at 10:00 and just a few things to do today.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Doing some shopping

I got out for a little while yesterday giving Nancy some time to get ready since she was wanting to do some shopping.
I knew it was foggy out but didn't know that it was this foggy.  Most of the cars on the road had their headlights on and this was a little afternoon so the morning part and into the afternoon late this is what we had to put up with.

There is this one street that went out toward the gulf and every time I went by it I said "one of these days I'm going to check it out".  Well this was one of those days so off I went down the street.  The canals behind the houses are somewhat wider than the ones I have seen.  The front street of these houses have a drive way where you can park your car and the back street which is the canal they have their boat docks where they can moor the boats.  Yeah that's Florida for some people.

Looks like the house owners on the left have a small house boat.
I wonder if they have a motorhome or trailer parked out front?
A fella has to have his toys right?
Get those things and enjoy them while you are young enough.
When you are older and go to Walmart you spend about as much time in the Pharmacy lanes as you do in the grocery lanes.
You know what I mean got to have those pain pills, pain creams, polident for the teeth, eye glass cleaner and well you get the idea.
After getting back home and eating a snack we were out the door to do our shopping.
The evening we were on the computers and watching a little tv.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Being old

With the cool weather the last few days and the wind blowing us old folks would rather stay inside.
Nancy fixed some of her beef soup with carrots, onion, potatoes and celery.  That and a peanut butter sandwich really hit the spot.

I did get out to take the trash to the dumpster a couple of times but as far as going anywhere out of the park it was a no go.

Yesterday we did the never ending cleaning of the motorhome as Nancy did some mopping and I did the vacuuming and taking the throw rugs outside to give them a good shaking.
Also as you know that Saturday is my college basketball games day.
Yeah there is also a couple of those basketball games on today.

I know I sit around a lot but hey I'm an old guy and believe me I feel it during this cold weather, the old arthritis pain kicks in on the joints and makes it hard to move sometimes.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Laundry and Cooking

Yesterday morning after having our breakfast and checking our email and other computer things we slowly got ready to face the day.
We had to do the laundry so that always take up some of our time.  Nancy trust me doing some of the laundry but when it comes to her things like her tops she takes them out of the dryer before they get dried.  She says if she lets them dry completely in the dryer they will shrink.
After doing the laundry I told Nancy I would prepare our supper. I was going to have wiener size Smoked Polish Sausage on a bum and maybe kraut on top of that but Nancy said she didn't think she would like it.  No problem I would have to think of something else but it would have to be with the  Polish Sausage since I had my taste buds ready for it.
I went to store and bought some linguine.
While the linguine was boiling I cut the Polish Sausage fried it then fried onions and colored sweet mini peppers in Canola oil when that was ready I mixed in Teriyaki sauce to boil.  I then mixed that in with the sausage and linguine a little salt and black pepper.  The way Nancy went into it I could tell she liked it and I agreed with her that it tasted really good and I would have to fix it again.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Out for dinner

The De-Flapper Max did come in yesterday and while Nancy was getting ready I put them on.  These have a large area to grip the awning and with the hard rubber they should work out to be good. I'll have to wait and see when there is a wind to see.
I saw this in a flyer in the paper, Nancy was feeling a little better and the weather was nice and sunny.
So I suggested that we go up to Spring Hill and give it a try.
The Mariner Family Restaurant was in a small strip mall.  Upon entering we seated ourselves we noticed it was clean and the service was quick.

Of course I took the NY Strip Dinner with fries and slaw at the price of $7.99 I figured I couldn't go very wrong and boy I was right on.  The steak was to perfection just as I had ordered and it appeared it was at least 5o/z.  With all that it came first with a cup of soup and then after the meal came a dessert all of that for the price of $7.99 I think we will be going back to this restaurant.
Nancy had a salad first then Chicken Parmigiana with peas, apple sauce, coffee and dessert all that for $6.49.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Slowly doing things

The temperature keeps getting lower every morning and will at the lowest Saturday morning.
It got down to 58* last night so not really cold but a good sleeping temperature.

The window awning fabric that I had ordered came in yesterday. I will have to wait until this cool spell is over before I start on putting them on the two windows.  Can't handle the stiff fabric very well getting it installed.

I've been trying to find some kind of material to put on the windshield of the motorhome for when we open the curtains that we will be able to see out with anyone seeing us inside.  Yesterday I went to Home Depot to see if the fiberglass close mesh screen would work. But upon looking through it I could still see through it. Of course I was looking at it within a couple of feet maybe from a distance it would be what I need.
This is going to take some more looking into before I give  up on that idea.

From Home Depot I went to Walmart for a few groceries then stopped at Burger King to pick Nancy and myself a couple of sandwiches with the coupons I had the price was right.

Today I will put on the new awning de-flappers that are suppose to be here that I ordered from Amazon.  The ones that I have now are so old that they don't hold the awning they jut keep slipping.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Fruit and Vegetables

Yesterday I needed to get a few things from the roadside fruit stand.
I always like to have tomatoes and this place always has fresh and tasty tomatoes so the trip out there is worth it to me. The price on their tomatoes are always cheaper than the stores.
Loads of cucumbers, potatoes, onions and any kind of vegetables you would want.
Crates of oranges and tangerines and loads of fruit some of which I don't know the names of.
I bought banana's, hot pepper'stomatoes and apples.

We did have the ribs that we leftover from Saturday and they tasted just as good as the day before.
After eating dinner and letting my food digest while I read the paper I was trying to fine tune the new antenna to see if I could bring in more television channels.
Nancy and I noticed with this antenna the picture on the tv is so much more clear than the antenna on top of the motorhome.  Of course this is an HD antenna but the one on the motorhome is also suppose to be HD.

We slept with the window open over our heads last night with the temperature at 68* it felt good.
The temperature at 9:00 this morning is already 78* so it will be a hot sunny day.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Ball games and Ribs

Friday Nancy still wasn't feeling to good but she did get her hair cut.
On the way back home I stopped at the Winn Dixie to get a few groceries and also got a slab ribs that were on sale. They even put the type of bbq sauce on it that I wanted.  I also bought a carrot cake which I like very much.
Saturday was of course was my day to watch college basketball and football day.
I was in such a hurry I almost forgot to take a photo of the rib dinner we had of the ribs, baked beans and slaw. The ribs were tasty and with lots of meat on the bone.
There is enough leftover to have another meal today.
The temp today will be up to 83* today with a lot of sunshine and the weather person said to enjoy it because it is suppose to turn cold by the coming weekend.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Day at home

Yesterday we were suppose to have went out to visit some our friends but Nancy wasn't feeling well .
So it was another ay of hanging around the house.  I messed around with the new over the air antenna trying the different locations to point to get different channels.  One thing I learned was you have to point it directly at the tv station or it will not pick them up.  Also it depends on the weather we're having at the time.
Today we woke up to a temperature of 53* but it will go up to around 78* before the day is over.
Nancy is going to get her hair cut today if she is feeling better we shall see.

Thanks for stoping by and have a great day.
