Parade

Tuesday they had the annual park parade with the different floats and people walking in the parade doing various things. It rained of and on but they did get the parade over before everyone got soaked good.
The parade always starts off with the Canadian and the American flags and the city rescue squad following.
These guys won the best prize in the walking class.

Here are the firefighters of Orchid Lake Park
It was mostly a cloudy day yesterday but by sunset time it had cleared to give us a beautiful sunset.

Usual Saturday

Our weather looks like it finally will change to be more normal for us.  A couple of days in the 70's and then the rest of the week in the 60's so much better for us. I was looking at the weather report for West Virginia where our kin folks live and the projected weather for the coming week with night time temps are going to be 0 like that is zero so I hope they stay warm.
Today will be like all the Saturdays have been for me since the start of the college basketball season. Hey, a fella has to have something to do!

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Cold Cold

Florida is like the rest of the eastern USA in that it is cold.  Not as cold as most of you but for us it is cold. It was 43 this morning in New Port Richey and is suppose to be colder in the morning. The temp is going to get up to 50 so for us it is going to be another cold day.
Still watching the college basketball games and getting out to the store when we need a few things.
Up in West Virginia where we use to live the temps are in the single digits.
I noticed yesterday evening that it was staying daylight longer so hang in there spring is around the corner. Even though its been cold my flowers are doing good I just hope they stay that way through tonight.
Our park here is still full with some rv's leaving and some pulling in so I guess the lower gas prices people can travel more. The prices here have gone up 20 cents in the last month so still not to bad at $2.19 for regular gas.
Health wise Nancy is still holding her own on her failing kidneys so that the best news. Even though she is weak and stays tired she still plugs along each day.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Weather and travel

Another weekend of college basketball with more good games. Things are shaping up if things go as expected the teams that will be in the tournament and the teams that will have to win out the rest of their games. March Madness my friends!
It finally warmed up enough for a large number of people to enjoy the pool yesterday. But, we still have some more cool days and nights ahead of us. like I saw one night this week where the temp will be in the low 30's.
A few more months and it will be time to think about the summer time travels and the places to go to.
How about you are you thinking about your 2015 summer travel time?

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Lost in the 50's

No really how many times can you actually go back to the things that happened when you were in grade school.
I've been emailing with a college professor from the Yukon University that lived in the coal community as I. He was younger than I but he remembered me and got in touch with me when he was looking at his coal miner fathers old coal companies small paper that they used to put out. Well he copied the years 1949 thru 1952 and send them to me and I spent around four hours reading them. In the papers I saw the kids from the fifth and sixth grade I went to school with. Even had a write up of me winning a sack race. So I was looking at the photos and thinking back on those times.

Nancy and I had our Little Caesar's pizza yesterday.  We are staying in most of the time since its cold for us down here and looks like it will stay that way for some time.

Thankis for stopping by and have a great day.

Grandson and Grandad time

I left a little after noon Saturday to meet up with Jeremey in Gainesville.
Saturday I left a little after noon and I took route 41 because I don't like the hurry up mode of the drivers on the interstate highways.
As you can see I like the more slow pace roads with something to look at. You can't get this view on I-75.
Nice farm land on this route.
Its been a while since I've seen one of these side carts. I looked to be the old model.
I met Jeremy around 3:30 and after our greetings we went into the motel room for some talking and watching tv.  Afterwards we went to eat dinner then back to the motel to rest up for the big game.
The had plenty of parking at the stadium and also a shuttle bus that took us to the front door.
We gave our tickets and went to find our seats.
Two happy guys and good seating, ah life is good.
Let the game begin. The game was close and exciting. As the announcers like to say "its like a prize fight".
With the game going back and forth being close most of the time what more could you want but ending a day with your team winning.
Yesterday morning after Jeremy and I had breakfast he went north and I headed south. A very good weekend thanks a lot Jeremy.  The time spent with you still ringing in my head.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Time together

Well tomorrow will be different in watching a college basketball game. My grandson(Jeremy)has two tickets to see the Kentucky @ Florida game.  He got the tickets and ask if I wanted to meet him in Gainesville for the game. Of course I said yes. So he is coming from Valdosta, Georgia and I from New Port Richey. The game is 9:00 pm so we will be making a day of it and spending the night. This is the first time that we have spend a bit of time with just the two of us in around thirty years. The last time was when we took a three day camping trip. I think both of us will enjoy this time.
Everything else is the same around the old homestead. I think we have gone a week without one of us seeing the doctor.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Superbowl

Another week of going to the store.  This week did have move college basketball games to watch.
Our weather has been cold for the past week plus a few days but yesterday the sun was shining and the temps was in the upper 70's, plus the wind was not blowing. It all made for a very nice Florida day.  Everyone was enjoying the day by sitting out and visiting.
I even got out between my games to visit with some people.
I guess later on this evening I will be doing what millions of other people will be doing by watching the superbowl.  I don't have a team that I want to see win it all but I enjoy seeing all the great plays that they make.  Of course watching the commercials some times are better than the games.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.
