Doing the laundry

Yesterday was the day to do the clothes again.  So it was off to Shallotte to the laundromat. I planned on grilling and making some hot dogs when I got back home, but Nancy reminded me that she is not crazy about hot dogs. So I stopped at Hills Grocery to buy every thing to grill some burgers.  After grilling the burgers and putting cheese on them while they were still on the grill,we had a very good cheese burger and chips. The rest of the evening was watching the tv and computer time.
Thanks for coming by and do drop in again.

Running Around

The last few days we have been out shopping. Nancy has been looking for a few new things to wear and I've been along for the ride.  She has picked up a few things then the next day she we have been taking them back,so we have been eating out.
Monday we had spaghetti at Kings Famous Pizza.  The spaghetti was very good and the service was also,a good place to eat.
Yesterday we were somewhere between North Myrtle Beach and Cherry Grove Beach on main street and eat at Hoskins. We always like to try new placesand passing Hoskins Restaurant saw a lot of cars in the parking lot so we stopped. This is a good place to eat as the locals eat here.  They have a daily special.
After eating we went out to the beach. We have not been here before and they have a nice long beachside with parking all up and down the beachside.

Wild flowers along the beach, growing in the dunes.

A good couple of days.   Thanks for stopping.
Do come back and have a good day.

Have a Great Weekend

WOW,this hanging around and being lazy could be habit forming.  Actually I've been reading and trying to learn about the new Android phone that I bought the other day. Like I told my daughter. Need to find a 6 or 7 year old kid and they could tell me all about it.  Suchs I had trouble changing from a rotary dail to a push button phone.  The new phones will do everything except tie your shoes.  Things get really complicated for us old folks.  I remember when the old tv started acting up all you had to do was go up and  give it a good whack and the picture. No more, the antenna has to be turned just right or you don't get nothing.
I hope you have a great weekend and remember what this country is about and how we got that way.  Don't let anyone take it away.

Taking it Easy

Things have slowed down  since Mark and Sherry have gone back home.
We are no longer in a vacation mode. Where we have to do things in a short time limit.  We are now in our slow mode of living.  Even though we had fun going with Mark and Sherry,it just wears us old folks out.
Yesterday was a busy day going to the laundromat and then grocery shopping.
The holiday weekend may not be so good with people coming to the beach.  There is a storm system just off the coast and it may produce rain and wind.  So we may sit inside, relax and let the crowd have the beach.  It is nice that we can take our time to do things.
We forgot to take our medicine bottles in yesterday for refills so back 7 miles  to Shallotte Walmart today.

They're Gone

Well yesterday Mark and Sherry went back to West Virginia. Their flight was scheduled to leave at 2:00 but due to the storms in the area it didn't leave until after 6:00.  Sherry said the wait wasn't very bad becaus the airport has free WiFi and she watched a movie on her computer. Mark did the driving to the airport and I got to snap pictures along the way.
Myrtle Beach has a little of everything. Bargain stores.
Golf courses around every corner.
Minature golf courses.
Want to see live reptiles?
How about one of the many shows?
Maybe a dinner theater?  Enough to keep you busy or just taking it easy on the beach.
We sure enoyed having Mark and Sherry and just wished they could have stayed longer.
Thanks for coming this way and stopping in.

One More Day

Yesterday the clouds turned into sunshine, nice, bright and hot.  We got ready and off to the beach.  Sherry was glad because it wwas her last day.  Mark and Sherry went back home to West Virginia today.
People where enjoying the sun.  This fella didn't even get up to see the sightseeing boat  coming up the beach.
It was so hot that in a short time in the sun I got under the pier in the shade where it was much cooler.  Everyone enjoyed the time we had on the beach.  Mark and Sherry enjoyed their time here.

Sunny Day

I guess everyone woke up hungry yesterday morning, because we went out to eat.  Sherry and Mark had told us about the Sunny Side Up and how good it was so that's where we went. The buffet was good.
We were not the only ones hungry.  These little birds were also.  The nest was above the entrance to the restaurant and out of the weather.
These little mouths were open to more food.  The male and female bird were busy putting food into those mouths.
After we got back to the motorhome we waited a couple of hours then it was to the beach.  This was the first time in 4 or 5 days that it didn't rain so we enjoyed the sunny day we had.
Have a good day and come back.

Sunday, May 20, 2012

Yesterday we were out and about.  We started out to look for the old town of Brunswick, but somehow didn't find it. So we headed to Holden Beach to see what it looked like.  We passed several place where people were beside the road selling their wares.
There is a long curved bridge over to the beachside.
A good view from top of the bridge.

The house are constructed different than on Oak Island. Holden Beach looks more modern than Oak Island. So you have a choice of what you like.

The beach area is nice.  Again I have to say we had a nice day.
Thanks for dropping in.

Saturday, May 19, 2012

Yesterday started out like all the mornings have for the last four or five days with rain. We decided to go out anyway rain or not.  We wanted to see what Oak Island and the light house looked like.
So we went north on US 17,turned off on route 211.  Soon came to this sign so a right turn we made.
Saw this water tower so and soon where on Oak Island.
The island is bigger than I thought it would be. It has houses up and down the beach, some are old and have been here a long time.  Even though there are a lot of houses it still has a rustic look with much of the sand dunes and growth left in place.  We looked up and down the beach.
The houses are located close to the water. The beach is short between the sand dunes and water.
A nice light house that lookes to be maybe 200 feet high. It is only open a couple of days a week and yesterday was not one of them.
A nice peaceful scene along the beach.  We were glad we went the rain slowed down or stopped enough throughout the day and we were able to enjoy it so much.
Thanks for stopping in and have yourself a good day.

Still Raining

Yesterday Mark and Sherry took off while Nancy and I stayed at the motorhome to catch up on a little work that we needed to do.  Around 2:00 Sherry called to ask if we would like to have dinner at Captain Nance's.  We said sure but make it a little later.  So they did and we did.
We have had dinner here a few times and we enjoy the price, food and scenery. We enjoyed a good dinner and conversation.  To top it off we came home and had a bowl of ice cream. How much better could it be?
Thanks for stopping by.

Rain,Rain

Tuesday we went to the airport to pick up Mark.  He said he had a good flight in.  It was time to eat so we went to "Sticky Fingers"to have dinner.  This was our first time eting in one of these restaurant.  The meal was good.
Yesterday was a busy day for us.  It was the day to do the laundry and also grocery shop,so that took up the whole day.  We really can't plan very much to do as it is raining every day and makes it hard to make plans.
I would like to thank Forry and Char for signing on in the followers list. Check out their blog I'm sure you will like it.

Big Storm

Yesterday I moved the motorhome to the other side of the campground where the sites are more level. The motorhome was level, but the front had to be up more than I like.
After that we went to the beach for the rest of the day, which was not to be. We were there for an hour and then the dark clouds started to roll in,so we came back home. In a short time the storm let lose with a big rain, thunder and lightning which lasted most of the night,

Today we will go to the airport to pick up Mark(Sherry's husband). He will be staying for a week then he and Sherry will fly back home.

Ferry Riding

Yesterday we went to the town of Southport.
We went up just to ride the ferry across the Cape Fear River.
Boarding the ferry.
The ferry coming from Fort Fisher to Southport.
We did make it across to the other side.
After getting across we turned around and came back. On the way back we watched the back of the boat which was fun, because these people had 3 loaves of bread they were throwing to the birds.
The birds were glad to catch the bread and have something to eat.
After the ferry ride we stopped in Southport at a small restaurant where the locals eat.  It was a good choice, the food was good and the price was reasonable.  We had another one of our many enjoyable days.
Thanks for dropping in and have a great day for yourself.

Out for the Day

We finally got out yesterday.  We went down to the flea market to look around. Nice looking covered wagon.
Nancy was the only one that bought anything. She got a good deal on some books so that made her happy. She loves to read her books.
From the flea market we went to Ella's to have early dinner. We all took the early special, hamburger steak, smothered in onions, fries and cole slaw.
Then it was off to a couple of thrift shops. One consignment shop where we didn't have time to look because they were closing.
We went over to beach side of Sunset Beach and went up and down the back streets to look at the beach houses.  We had a nice evening being out running around.
Thanks for stopping in to visit.
