Several Days Posted

September,20,2009

We left the Walmart around 10:30am in a heavy rainfall. It rained just about all the way to Barren River Campground at times it was hard to see the road. But,we made it ok. We didn't know if the campground would still be like it was three years ago when we were here last. Well it was, they still let you stay without paying a fee. They stop collecting the 19th but still let you use the campground. They turn the electric and water off,but they leave the dump station and one water spigot on. That works out good for us since we hhave a generator for our electrical needs when we have to have electric. There were 6 or 7 campers when we arrived but they left sunday evening. Nancy and I managed to get some much overdue walking in. Maybe by the time we leave here we will be in little better shape.

We had a good nights sleep last night and they hadn't turned off the electric yet so we got to watch a little television. We took our time getting up since we had no plans to go anywhere. After our breakfast and showers we did our morning walk. By the time we did our walking they had come around and turned off all of the electric. So now it is time for some camping. Of course we have the generator so it no really "roughing it." The day past by very quick and evening came so we did more walking. Six and a half miles today of walking and boy can we tell that we are out of shape. The walking should be very good for us because a lot of it is uphill and not on level ground that we are used to in Florida.

September ,22,2009

We got up and out earlier this morning, like before breakfast. The sun looked as though it would come out early so we wanted to get some walking in before it got to hot. It was 70° and cloudy so not to bad. Not to bad weather wise but it sure was hard on these old bodies by the time we were through. I think maybe we were a little sore from yesterday. We were lazy for most of the day,may as well be nothing else to do. I did grill a sirloin steak and Nancy made steak fries and a salad,so we had a very good dinner. We then sat out by the river relaxing and saw a Blue Heron catch a fish. After letting our dinner settle down we walked a few more miles. We ended the day by watching "Dancing with the Stars." It was another good day.

September,23,2009

This moring started out with Nancy having us scrambled eggs with diced ham, toast w/ jelly and coffee. What a way to start the morning, then came our walking. We are going into Scottsville to the laundromat to do the washing today. Then going to the library to check my email and othe things.

National Quartet Convention

Buses of the Singers

We are in Louisville attending the gospel singing. I haven't posted in a couple of days because we've been getting out of the singing very late and we get tired so we go to bed when we get back to the motorhome. The first night we stayed right in the parking lot of Freedom Hall where the singing is taking place. Last night and tonight we are in a Walmart parking lot.
The gospel singing has been very good. This is the first time in three years that we have attended the quartet convention.
Tomorrow we will be going down to Barren River Corp of Engineer campground. It has been open and free this time of year in past years,so we are hoping it still is. If so we will spend a few weeks there. I may not be able to get online if I have not got a phone signal so there won't be any regular posting.

Louisville,Kentucky

Our few short days with Vicki and the family has come and gone. The days always go by fast when it is a couple of days or a week. We have once again enjoyed our time visiting and getting to see the little great grand baby(Kathryn)and the rest of the gang. Richard again cooked meals that are very tasty. That guy needs to have a restaurant. He is a very good chef.
We are going to stay overnight at the FlyingJ on I-64 exit 43 for the night then on in to Louisville tomorrow. We are going to the National Quartet Convention for a couple of night for some good southern gospel music. We haven't been in 3 or 4 years so this will be a real treat for us.

Visiting Vicki

The price of gas went down a little here in Nicholasville,Ky.
Not much was going on today. Nancy got her hair cut and thats a big thing for her. After her hair cut we went to see Vicki and family. Richard prepared Bar-B-Q ribs and cole slaw. It was a very good meal.

Ferry Boat

Yesterday we went riding through the country side to the Valley View Ferry. I read about it on the internet and it wasn't far from where we are here in the campground.
It is a small 3 car ferry that crosses the Kentucky river. Its in operation 7 days a week and is free. We didn't go across on it because Nancy is afraid of boats like this. She can't swim so she avoids deep water and boats.
The boat has a overhead guide lines that are attached on each side of the boat.

Here is an empty old farm house with a white horse grazing out in front. A real estate sign in front says the house and 89.55 acres are for sale. We passed by more of the beautiful farmland that we have been seeing the pass several days.

Beautiful Farmland

We went off riding down through some beautiful scenery yesterday.

Some of the barns and silo's we saw were right beside the road. We saw several barns with the tobacco hanging inside drying out.
A bunch of fields as far as you could see. Sometimes that was just to the mountains.

The hay has been cut and rolled up. If you click on the picture you can see the rolls of hay better.

We finally got to the restaurant were we were going. We had the buffet and boy was it good. The vegetables tasted farm fresh, which they probably were since they have all the farmland around them.
It was another good day that we enjoyed.

Going Out

We had a good safe travel day yesterday. We are here at the Camp Nelson Campground. We were going to do a little house cleaning on the motorhome today but as sometimes it happens we have a change of plans.
We had plans of going to the "Bread of Life Cafe" sunday. But checking out on the internet the resteraurant is closed on sundays so we will be going today.
The campground is so low in a valley that I can't get sattelite reception so,I won't be able to see many football games anyway.

9/11

A sad day in America it was.
Today it is time to get on the road again. Our time here with Jackie has come to an end. We have had an enjoyable time here. As I said before our visits with family are very special to us and we are very glad that we can do this.
Today we will be going to Camp Nelson. We were there a couple of months ago visiting Vicki and the family,so our journey takes us back again.

Good Start

We had a very good start on our day today. Preacher Jess and his wife Kay invited Jackie and us for breakfast and what a breakfast it was. Eggs, pork chops, bacon, apples gravy, buscuits and coffee. It was all good and I filled up. Nancy and I will have to get away where we will be by ourselves before we can lose weight. Oh I didn't even tell you about the butterscotch delight I had last night that a lady (Ruth) from the church made for us.

There and Back

Yesterday Nancy,Jackie and myself went to Morehead to do some shopping. First we went o Walmart, then from ther to Fazoli's to have and early dinner. After eating off we were to Kroger for some groceries. It was a full day because we did not get started until afternoon so evening time came real soon.
I bought a shirt in Walmart but I didn't check it out very close. Somehow a medium shirt ended up on a rack that was marked large. So I had to take it back today.
I did get the oil in the motorhome changed while Nancy was getting ready today.

Rain Most of Day

The way the day started it looked as though it would rain all day.

But it did stop and I was as glad as this little woodpecker seem to be as it looked for some food. This was one of the small type, not like the ones that are around a foot long that we often see. A rainy foggy day turned into a nice sunny evening.

Anyway I had a good day just being on the comuper and relaxing. I hope your day was as nice as the one I had.

Fish Fry

The church had a fish fry today. Here is part of the desserts that they had. It was all very good. Fish and fries with hush puppies, colas to drink. I think by the time it was over everyone was more than full.

Nice Sunny Morning

It is nice to look out the window and see the green trees with a few dead trees still standing. It won't be to long until it changes and you will be seeing the beauty of the leaves changing colors.
Well its that time of year--College Football. I will be so busy today watching the different games. I told Nancy to not have plans for this day.

Sorry to be behind on the blog. A couple of days I couldn't get on line.
Nothing much to report on. We did get to Jackies house monday evening and got the motorhome set up. Went to Walmart to get the medicine refilled and one of the bottles had no refills left. I don't know how that happened since all of them started out the same and the others still have 4 refills left. How could I not have refills on one of them? Anyway I had to call the doctor in Florida to call them with a new perscription.

Yesterday Nancy and I went to the laundromat to do the laundry. That took up a few hours. Peach told Nancy to use her washer and dryer. Nancy says she would go to the laundromat to use several washer and dryers to get finished quicker. Callie will visit for most of the day and then the day will be over.
Tomorrow we will take Jackie home and we will stay there a few days visiting.
How long will we be there? I don't know, again no plans.

Good Morning

We started the day out good. Peach once again prepared breakfast for everyone. We had eggs, bacon, biscuits, gravy, apples and coffee. Don and Peach are so good to us,just like all of Nancy's sisters. We could and do get spoiled when we travel around and see all of the family.
Just as soon as my breakfast settles down a little I might start to move around, boy it was good. We have no plans again as usual. The ladies are cleaning up everything, getting ready for Callies visit.
I never could understand why you always have to do extra cleaning when you have visitors coming. Everything is clean but you still have to go over all of it?
