Gulf Breeze,Florida

After drove through Destin and Fort Walton we came to Gulf Breeze with a total of 166 miles for the day. We spent the night in the WalMart parking lot. After we had our breakfast and showers I drove over to the gas pumps to fill up again. With 430 miles on that tank and running the generator for 4 hours it took 50 gallons of fuel at a cost of 2.08 a gallon. We drove back east to the gulf breeze Flea Market and checking with them I was in luck, they had a full hookup site. It is a small campground here only 10 hookups. We never make reservations so we don't know how long we will stay. I guess that just about catches me up. Sometimes it is a long time posting because of the cell phone service.

St. George Island Beach

Upon leaving Carrabelle Beach we made a stop to walk on the beach in Port St. Joe. After a drive on around the coast we drove over to St. George Island and stayed the night in the State Park and of course walk on the beach.

Walking

After walking 3 miles on the beach we were gone on down the road again. As you can see I need to walk alot. Need to get rid of about 25 more pounds.

World War II

Carrabelle Beach was used to train around 500,000 troops for amphibious landing assault in 1943. This was their last training mission before being sent over seas. They still find live munition on the beaches ever now and then.Posted by Hello

Crystal River Mall

Well after we got ready and pulled out Wednesday we went down and filled up with gas at the WalMart. We then had to stop and get the propane tank filled also. We drove up to Crystal River and saw the Mall so it was time to walk again. I had to get a picture of the Carousel. It was a Venetian Double Carousel it is the first double one I have seen. We got as far as Perry,Florida and stayed all night in the WalMart parking lot.

On The Road

Yes-----its that time again to get on the road. What adventures await us this time.
It has been toooo long awaiting for this day to come. We had a hard rain last night but,I'm thankful it has quite for this morning. We'll hookup the car then oh,oh,oh,go down to walmart to fil up with gas. This really hurts when you have to put 50-60 gallons in the tank. Gas is around 40 cents higher than when we got here so we will have to take it easy. Everythink goes up except the pension checks that people get. Not only gas but food also has gone up in price. Never the less onward to the adventures of the summer and fall.

Diver

We went walking in the Fred Howard Park at Tarpon Springs today. After our walk we went to walk down in town at the sponge docks. This is a statue of a diver with the diving suit and hard hat they used to use years ago when they would go down and get the sponges. I think they use scuba gear nowadays.

Big Boat

This is a shrimp boat in dock and there were many small boats that they use to bring in the sponges.

Sponge Docks

Here on the dock they sort out the sponges with the different sizes and shapes. They have been bringing in sponges since the 1930's from the Gulf of Mexico. You would think there were no more sponges left. At one time Tarpon Springs was the sponge capital of the world. They ship these natural sponges all over the world. If you get down close to this area this is a must see place. Posted by Hello

Squirrel

This is one of the reasons to carry a bottle of Clorox and water mixture to sanitize the water faucet. Now the squirrel might not be the only thing that gets on and licks the water hook-up at the campground. You never know what else has been on it. This little "fellow" got his drink everyday from the dripping water.

J. B. Starkey Park

We went walking over to the J B Starkey Park again today. We like to walk in this park because we usually see some kind of wild animals. This was one of two turtles we saw on the pathways. This one was 8"-10" in diameter. He just kind of posed to have his picture taken. Temps in the 80's today.

Sunday

Well we went to church today and after a good service we came home and got on our walking clothes. We walked down as far as Dennys and stopped in there gor lunch. Dennys may not be te best place but, they have a local coupon where if you buy one meal you get another free. Now that is a hard deal to pass up. After we ate we finished our walk for a total of 5 miles for the day.

Flowers Everywhere

This is another beautiful site of flowers blooming out. This is behind the Gulfview Mall in Port Richey,Florida where we do some our walking. Even though we are full timers we do a lot of stuff that "normal people" do when we set still for a while in one place.

Beach Bumming Today

Well with the temps going up in the 80's today and plenty of sunshine we decided to go to the beach and work on our tans. Now that is the kind of work I like. No doubt I'll stop by the outdoor veggie stand and buy something. Hope everyone out there has a wonderful and blessed day.

Birds

Well we did get down and back with our visit to Nancy's sister(Sally). Our daughter (Sherry) and her husband(Mark) came down for a visit yesterday. We went down to Tarpon Lake and walked around looking at the birds and alligators. I took the picture of the beautiful bird o a dead branch and another one in flight in the background. Someone told me it was an osprey. I had to wait quite a while to get this picture because I saw a lot of birds flying around and I wanted to get one in the background while this one was perched on the branch. A long wait but it was worth it in order to get the picture.

More Space

I'm always looking to find more space in the motor home to put things. In the picture you can see I found some an empty area that wasn't being used just under and behind the kitchen sink. I cut out and framed this opening, went to a cabinet shop and had a door made for $20.00. We keep the small vacuum cleaner and room enough for caned goods. Also have a small inverter. The wife didn't like the kitchen faucet so I got one of the faucets from Home Depot with the sprayer on it that pulls out. Posted by Hello
