Anniversary # 65

Yeah, that is not a  typeO.  Nancy and I have been married that long and lasting through the tuff time and good times, we are more in love each day.

We will be staying home this evening instead of going out for dinner, because Nancy hasn't been feeling very well for the last week.  So I think we will get a meal "to go" from Bob Evans.

Also later on in the evening I will be making Cabbage Rolls for tomorrow's meal.

As you celebrate New Years Eve today and night please be careful.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

To all of you I really wish that you woke up this morning in good health and feeling like facing the day.

Nancy and I got a gift yesterday seeing Sherry (our daughter) and her husband Mark, That were spending their Anniversary in Daytona Beach come over to visit with us.
It was so good to see them again.  Thanks Sherry and Mark.

Nancy and I usually Have a breakfast each morning, but the other day I spice mine up a little.
By adding Hungarian Pepper, tomato, and Tater Tots it made a good breakfast much better.

Nancy and I will spend a quite day today just relaxing as we do most of the time.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great and safe day.

So, how you been

Nothing exciting has been happening around the old home place.  Well let me back-up a pace or two.
If you have been with me you will know how I really like the college basketball and football games.

So there is my exciting times, I know you may not find that is what you like but we are all different and that is what makes us the people we are.

I have tried playing a round or two of golf and found out that wasn't for me.

Would you believe that in my teens I even tried my hand or should I say my fists at boxing in the "Golden Gloves".  Well it didn't take me long to find out that this little guy was not going to be a famous boxer.

Nancy and I have been getting some of the things that we wanted for Christmas and we know Christmas time is a special time of the year, but we get what we want anytime of the year and we really do not want very many thing anyway.

Thanks for stopping by and have a geeat day.

More of seeing Doctor.

 Yeah. where have I been?
Nowhere I guess I've just kind of lazy.

I'm having more than usual doctor's appointments being started with my Cardiologist to get the old heart checked out good, which I have not since my second heart attacked in 2015.

I went this morning early to have a heart monitor put on and I will go early in the morning to return it for the Doctor to see if all is ok or not.

I went to LabCorp Monday to have blood drawn, which can tell many things going on in the body.

In the mean time Nancy has been cooking real good meal for me.
Like the one above with, pinto beans, baked potato, slaw, boneless center cut pork chops and corn bread.

Also its that time of year when football is winding down with the bowl games coming up.

Basketball games getting started good at two to three games a week much to my liking.

So retirement can be as busy as you want it to be or not.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

What we had yesterday.

I hope all of you made it through Thanksgiving Day alright!

Our day got started Wednesday evening with Nancy getting the deviled eggs cooked up and put together.

Then I shredded up the cabbage and whipped up the slaw.

Next was trimming down the Ham shoulder and potatoes to put in the IP pressure cooker.

After that Nancy put her green beans on to cook, which takes a little time,  because she lets them cook all the way down.

Next Nancy put her sweet potatoes in the skillet to cook up what she calls her "candied sweet potatoes."

Of course you have to have Cranberry sauce.

Got to have the rolls.

Here's what it looks like all together on a plate.

An hour or so later we had our desert, which I added more whipped cream.
That was our first time trying the whipped cream and it really tasted good.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Happy Thanksgiving

I have so many things to be thankful for that I don't know where to start.  So I will just list the most important one first that I'm Thankful that the Lord has his hand on me and kept me around this good earth for so long.

Today will be a busy day for Nancy and myself in that we are going to prepare our meal and stay inside instead of going out to eat.
I asked Nancy if she wanted to go out to eat and she said no because she knows how I like to eat and watch ball games on the tv.
Thank you dear, you are the best.

I hope all of you, my readers have a safe and enjoyable day today.

What's been going on

Well let me just tell you.

Nancy prepared us a good meal Friday, country steak and gravy with potatoes, green beans.
Nancy said the way I took the photo with the gravy on the steak, it looks like an ice cream sandwich.
It might but it tasted better than an ice cream sandwich.

I helped Nancy with the washing and drying of our laundry.

Plus it was the day to do the floors.  So go got out the swiffer, first it was with the dry pad to get up the dust.  Then the moist one to go over the floors and that really makes the floor shine.

I had another good week-end watching the college basketball games.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

More Doctor Visits

Hang on I'm still here, yeah I know I'm slow about posting
But with trying to straighten up the motor home and the house plus Nancy and ny docror appointment does take time.

Speaking of appointments, for a chance I've got close to the number that Nancy has.
Somewhere around the middle of August and the first of September I had an episode that I was a little concerned about but waited until we get back to see my cardiologist.
Well he has lined me out on different days, first is December 8th for a Holter Monitor, next is December 13th for a Chemical and Treadmill Stress, December 15th Echocardiogram, January 6th Carotid Ultrasound.

Somewhere in there I've got to have blood drawn before I go back to see him on January 26th.

Plus Nancy has me on a tight schedule of house cleaning and going to the store.
                                                         JUST JOKING NANCY

I went to T-Mobile yesterday to get the $50.00 internet unlimited plan for the house because the one I have is suppose to shut down sometime in early 2022.
I got it up and running and more than happy with it.  That thing is fast.

I'm glad that its that time of the year again "College Basketball".

That is about all happening here on the front.

I do thank you for stopping by and wish you a great day.

Little Caesar's Pizza

Wednesday is usually our day for pizza and cheese bread, so its off to Little Caesar's for me.

We get the Pepperoni Classic, here is my slice and no it doesn't come with that much cheese.  I always add a little extra to my slice.
Nancy likes the Cheese Bread more than the Pizza.  All of that food makes our meal for two days.

Nancy felt a little better over the week-end so she cooked up a pot of beef and vegetable soup.
It tasted really good and it was to long of a time coming. But that is ok because I know she doesn't feel good most of the time "bless her little O' heart.

Thank you for stopping by and do have a great day.

Sam's Club

Nancy likes to eat Mini Sweet Peppers with her breakfast sandwich, so I get to clean them for her.

The other night as I was cleaning a pepper at first I thought it had a bug inside of it but, on looking closer it was a pepper growing inside.  This was a first for me, if I had seen this before it has been so long ago I have forgotten it.

Tuesday was a day to be a little busy with going to Sam's Club.

I bought some gas which was 16 cents cheaper than the other stations around the area.   Looks like everyone else had the same idea since the 20 pumps were at least 4 cars deep.

Yeah it looked like an early Christmas inside. It really wasn't very crowded in the store like the fuel pumps were, although I did see a few large screen tv's going out the door.

By the time I was ready to check out of Sam's Club I called Nancy to see if she wanted me to get anything out of the freezer section that she could throw in the micro wave instead of her havig to cook our meal.  She agreed the would be good.

I got us a frozen Stouffer's meat lovers baked ziti meal.  It was a good price that had two boxes that said 4 servings each box.  The meal was better than the price, really good.

Thanks for stopping and have a great day.

Pep Boys----"We Think"

Of course you know I watched football Saturday, only a couple of them this time as I had to go to a couple of other things to do.

My a/c on the car is still giving me trouble with the Freon leaking out.   I took it to Pep Boys, they checked it and said it was low on Freon, "duh" yeah that's why I brought it in.
They filled it with Freon and dye incase it leaked again.  I said  "I will be back" the fellow said "we think it will be ok".

I was back the next day!  They took it in the back to check it again and said, we couldn't find the leak but thought it might be the high side valve leaking.  So they put a new valve on it.
Again I said I don't think that would be the problem because the valve has never been used and would not be leaking since it has not been opened.
Well the Freon leak out again the next day.  I had it in the shop yesterday and after four hours again said "we think" it was a rubber o-ring so in went a new put in a new one.

Time will tell.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Getting stuck

Yesterday was time for Nancy and I to see the Doctor.
Nancy had some blood drawn a couple of weeks ago so it was time to see the results. Most of her results was the same as usual and that is always the report for her.  For some reason the doctor wanted her to have another blood sample.

As for me I'm still in good shape for my age.  Also our appointments where around 1:45 and I was fasting so blood drawn for me also. The first young lady to stick the needle in me gave up after trying three times to get some blood out of me had another young lady try her luck.  I'm glad she did that because the second lady hit the vein the first time.

After being at the doctor office for so long Nancy and I went to the Grand Hibachi Buffet to have our dinner and that was a good idea because everything tasted much to good and both of us really stuffed ourselves.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

A long day

As you can tell there is not very much happening around here so not many things go in the blog.

You can tell that fall is here in this part of Florida also as the temperature was down to 61* yesterday morning when I got up.
I could really feel it when I got out from under the covers.  But in a few hours it felt nice, then around noon time it was hitting into the 80's

Yesterday was a very long day for me in that I had to go to Pep Boy's to get the cars ac worked on.
It has been out for the last few weeks because, the Freon keeps leaking out.
I had to keep adding the Freon but that was like putting a band-aid on it and the last time I went to Walmart to buy a can of Freon  The price went from $4.00 a can to $10.00.
Really it jumped that much in the price.
Anyway the long wait was three hours long.

I don't know what I'll get into today but it will have to be something its very hard just to sit the day away.  That makes for a long day.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

T Bones and games

Doing a few things around the house, like trimming back a bush that was about to become a tree.
It wasn't too bad but it was beginning to cover the front window, and I have to see what is going on.  Like if the mail has been delivered or if the garbage truck has made their run and a few more things.

I did get time to throw two nice T bone steaks on the grill and they came out as perfect as any meats I have grilled.
I mean to tell you they really had the taste with the juices flowing.  Steaks with a baked potato and a salad is mighty hard to beat.

Saturday was spent watching a couple of college football games that went just the way that I enjoyed them.

Yesterday was a day of watching a movie on the tv and just relaxing the day away.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Same "O"

Things are just the same here, cleaning out the motorhome is taking longer then I thought.
Of course there's no hurry so that is the way I'm doing it.  With having a hard time finding a place in the house to stack up the "stuff" from the motorhome is really a chore.

I took the weekend to watch some of the college football games and even take in an NFL game on Sunday.

With Nancy not having any strength to speak of we are having more of the fast food type meals.  But every once in a while she does cook us a special meal and yesterday was one of those days.
Boy, did that really taste extra good.

After picking up Nancy's medicine today it will be back to finding or making room for things coming from the motorhome to the house.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Sometimes busy and sometimes not so

I took Vicki to the airport to go back home in Kentucky after she had been here for a week helping me to clear our the "stuff" in the motorhome.
Even though we worked and have a lot cleared out I'm not even half through with it.  I'm taking my time doing it so I will not be wearing myself out.

Nancy and I thought since we will have a lot more room to put every thing from the motorhome into the house it would be nice.  Not so, its hard to believe it but the motorhome house much more room for storing "stuff" then the house does.  I guess it must be the large bays on the out side.

I got around to cleaning out the trunk of the car, where it was one of our storage places.  So now I have more room there that's useable again.

After going to Winn Dixie and Walmart yesterday I settled in and watched a couple of College Football games.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Doctors and other things

After Thurmond Lake it was time to move on down the road again.

This time we moved on down to Lake Sinclair one of our usual stops on the way back home.
I can say home now that we have bought one in a nice 55+ Park in Port Richey.

After staying a few days it was time to move again down the road to visit my brother Nick where we had planned to stay for five days.

As sometime plans do change and it was this time.  With Nancy feeling as bad as a bushel of rotten tomatoes, she said she does need to go on home and see the doctor.

With the news to Nick telling how bad Nancy was feeling that we would only be spending overnight, he said he understood us doing so.
Nancy didn't even get out of the motor home while we were there, because she was in the thought she might have the Covid-19.

We had also planned a visit with our grandson Jeremy in Valdosta.
So Nancy called him to tell him we would not be  stopping to visit this time.

Anyway Nancy did see the doctor, had the Covid test and was negative on that so it cleared her mind of that worry.
She has some more checking to do with different doctors also.

With Vicki here to help me we spent a lot of time clearing out the motor home of things and later on it will be up for sale.

Thurmond Lake

After Leaving Smokemont we stopped in Cherokee at the Laundromat to do our our laundry.

When that was finished we were tired after a short distance and Nancy was very tired so we spent the night at the Walmart in Clayton Georgia.

Our next stop was Thurmond Lake in the Petersburg Campground.  It was for only a couple of night because that is the all I could get every other sites were booked solid.

We did manage to stay on the lake though for five days at the Ridge Road Campground and Vicki said she liked it better.  I even got to let out the awning for the first time sense it was put on new two years ago.

Here Nancy and Vicki enjoying a meal under the shade of the awning.

And here the two of them relaxing looking out over the lake.

A nice view of the lake.

A sunset over water is always beautiful,

We did have some wind that made the waters choppy.

It was nice at the lake but like always we had to make another move on dow the road.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Cherokee side of the Smokies.

We left Joe and Mishell headed for the Smokie Mountains.

Pigeon Forge was crowded and the traffic slow moving and Gatlinburg was more traffic.
Plus if you take the right side lane going through Gatlinburg you have to watch so you will not hit the people on the sidewalk..
For some reason the like to walk right on the traffic side as close to the traffic as possible that some of them have to turn side ways to avoid getting hit,

We stopped on the mountain top to have a little lunch while enjoying the view which is always very relaxing.

But this view of a snake with its four youngin's all cuddled up, is not good to see.

Soon we where going down the North Carolina side of the mountain headed for our destination of Smokemont Campground for a couple of nights.

After checking in Vicki and I unhooked the car pared the motorhome, parked it leveled up then extended the slides and we were all set for a couple of days.

The next day we went out for dinner and by the time we finished as we had it timed the elk where out in the field.  We got a chance to see a couple of the very young one out with their mother and father.

Here one of the small ones where hungry and just had to have some milk.

While while we were close to the visitors center and "Heritage Village"

Vicki and I walked around to look it over.
First would be an old house that you would have in the 1800's.

A view of the back porch.

Here is the meat house with the barrel of salt to put the meat in.

I remember Dad having a small smoke house to put fresh killed and butchered hog in.

Big barn on the left.

The inside where the horses are stabled.

They even had an old oxen yolk hung up inside.

It took us around an hour to walk through the village, but worth it to see some of this old stuff that brought back some memories.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Dandridge, Tennessee

We are still visiting with Son Joe and his wife Mishell and we are enjoying the visit with them.

Although Joe has retired he still is doing a part time job at Dollywood, so visiting time with him is limited. Still we did get to make a trip out to the land fill.  This is always interesting in the they have a section that when people buy new things for their house like furniture or washers and dryers it is in a section for these so you can buy those and some of the things are usable.

Getting down to Joe's house is very steep off the main road, so steep that Nancy rode down in the car with Vicki.

Another view of the driveway .

Joe and I put in 50 amp connection last year so the completed what we needed for staying with water and  a place to dump our tanks.

But there is nothing to do about the steep incline

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Around Cumberland Gap

We just finished up visiting The Cumberland Gap area where we stayed in the Wilderness Road Campground.

The main reason for this stop was to have the rear levelers repaired at the G & S Truck Service that is a very good place for service.

We did get to play tourist around the area. Here is a cannon to represent a look-out position on pinnacle mountain during the Civil War.

And from this position the enemy could be spotted.

                                                         And looking the other way.

We drove down into the old town of Cumberland Gap, Tennessee.   Here is an old church that they are redoing it to the way it was.

The old covered bridge in town.

We really enjoyed our time here in the "gap" getting the levelers repaired and also enjoying the scenery, resting up a bit.

We are now visiting with our son Joe and his wife Mishell and enjoying it.

Cumberland Gap

We made it to Danville and the first thing I did was filling up the gas tank on the motor home at $2.79 a gallon for gas.

Then it was to the Pioneer Campground  where I expected it to be better then it was, but that's another story and if you are planning on being here, check it out first.

The ticket office and campground office is combined into one for both of them.

The old village is real old and they do get more visitors to see the play  then I thought they would have.

Nancy and I enjoyed our visit with our grandson Jarod his wife Chelsea and their four children.  Wow, that was a blast, non stop. We really enjoyed the little ones and their antics.

Thank you Jarod and Chelsea for a wonderful visit.

Our older daughter Vicki is on the trip back to Florida.  This is the first time that she will be  trip with us, so we shall see how she likes the rv style of living.

We are  now at Cumberland Gap staying in the Wilderness Road Campgroun
