A stop in Valdosta

Yesterday after lunch we jumped into the motorhome and headed south on I-75(I like two lane roads). I stopped at the first rest area which was about 30 mile down the road to dump our tanks.
We got to Valdosta at 4:30 and parked at the Walmart on Norman Drive. Shortly after Jeremy and Allison came over to get us so we all could go have dinner. During and after dinner while still seated we were talking. Getting back to the motorhome Jeremy and Allison stayed for a couple of hours then we said our good byes then they went home. Sherry, Nancy and were on our computers for the evening until we went to bed.
It was kind of a long day but a nice one.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Back down south

During the time here with Nick I've been running around with him and enjoying every minute of it.
We've gone to the store almost each day.  I did have to spend most of Wednesday putting a new seal in our Bravura toilet.  This was not an easy task as I had to take it apart then unbolt the mechanism that holds the blade and seal.  The bowl had started leaking water sometime during our trip. I tried clean and lubricating it but it still leaked so a new seal was the only solution.  I think it was around six years ago I had to put the same seal in. Like they say its not if something will happen its when it will happen.  That's the life of an rv'er.
Today we will reverse our journey to go south instead of north. A couple of things are in the works and we have to go back down to the park model.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Traveling

We left Cain's Creekside Campground and traveled north on route 41.
The road is a good two lane road which I like much better than the busy I-75 with all the trucks.
This was one of the main routes going north and south years ago and is still in good shape.

We do have to go through the small towns as we travel the two lane roads but we enjoy seeing the old houses and many times we will park the motorhome unhitch the car and go up and down the side streets looking at all the old houses.
A section of road lined with pecan trees.
We passed field and fields of land ready for planting of the late crop.
I did get on I-75 for the last twenty miles of the trip and with all the traffic and the large trucks reminded me why I like the two lanes roads the best.
We made it to Nick's safely where he was waiting for us with the dinner.  Sometimes I believe he thinks we never eat because he is always wanting to feed us.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

No hurry

We were suppose to leave and go up to visit with my brother in Warner Robins yesterday but had a change in plans.  Our grandson was admitted to the hospital with shortness of breath and chest pains so we stayed to see what was up with that.  They said inflamed muscles around the heart.  With medication he was feeling better so we are leaving heading north as soon as everyone get ready.
It will take us a little more than average time because I'm going up route 41 instead of the I-75.  I just don't like the interstates very much with the trucks and cars in such a hurry to get where they are going. Besides that I've got the whole summer so I'm in no hurry.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Thanks all veterans

Yes that's what this weekend is all about.  Don't forget to thank them for their service.

We did make it safe to Valdosta and got a site in Hahira at the Cain's Creekside Campground.  We usually stop here on the way north and again when heading back down south.
It was good seeing Jeremy, Allison and the two great grand children(Andy and Hannah)again. They sure are growing up fast.  We met up with them Friday for dinner at the very popular Smok'N Pig Restaurant. We got there early just before the large crowd started  coming in.
After we had our meal and talking, catching up on what has been happening we went over to their house for a couple of hours before coming back home. Sherry did stay there with them for the night and will stay each night that we are here.
Nancy  and I had to go to the Laundromat yesterday before going back to Jeremy's where he grilled some fabulous tasting chicken breasts that with green beans, cheese and mac made a good meal.
Nancy and I came back home in time to take our meds then watched tv and read before bedtime.
A very nice day.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Here and there

Yes I'm behind on posting I let the Straight Talk Hotspot expire and had no replacement data card to replace the gigabytes. So I will try to update on what has been happening.
With our last day in Navarre we just had to go to the beach one more time.
Tuesday it was traveling day on the back roads where we saw corn fields and tomato farms like the one above. I sure would like to be able to get into those tomatoes when they get ripe on the vine.
Here is one thing that you don't enjoy seeing on the back roads. Is it going to be tall enough for me to get under.
We were ok it was 14'-4" a little more than two feet higher than the motorhome.
I did get site number eight at the Eastbank COE Campground for a couple of nights. It was a nice lakeside site number eight. Had we got there on the weekend it was going to be full and we would be out of luck.
We sat out that evening and enjoyed a beautiful sunset over Lake Seminole.
A panoramic view consisting of stitching five photos together.  This is another of those places where you say "we have to come back here again".

We left yesterday and arrived in Valdosta to spend the night at the Walmart with several more motorhomes one being a 45 foot Prevost.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Gul Breeze

Saturday it was back to the Flea Market for me where I got a few things I have been looking for.
Then back to the motorhome for a little cleaning inside and outside. We are getting into the moving mode again as we will be leaving here on Tuesday.
Yesterday we had dinner at Wendy's as Sherry has been wanting to try the chicken with the jalapeno peppers. She said it was good. After that it was to Walmart to get a few things. Did I ever mention that its hard to pass a Walmart without stopping for something?
I'm going to try and get a site at one of the Corp of Engineers Campground on Lake Seminole.
Nancy and I stayed at this lake some years back at the Tree Rivers State Park and really enjoyed it.
Our stay this time will only be for a few days.
We have enjoyed our time here in Gulf Breeze but it is time to move on.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Seaside

Yesterday it was a trip to the little town(village) of Seaside.
This place on the gulf has everything including the houses all packed in close together. the streets are very narrow and if you meet a car coming toward you have to pull off the road to let it pass by.  This is the inner streets only not the main road.  This is the inner circle of the half circle where the shops of the town are.
There are about six Air Stream trailers that are used for the vendors to serve food. They looked as though they were permanently set up.
Across the main road from the vendors are more food buildings.
Nancy and I sat outside and enjoyed our  Burritos.

The old General Store had the sliding ladder for the items stacked in shelves all the way to the ceiling. They had items in jars and cans I never heard of.
The small post office.
Here is the emerald waters of the gulf that people come to the panhandle for.
It was another nice day out exploring for us.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

A little beach

When we woke up yesterday morning it was very cloudy so we said it looks like a good day to go to the beach and stay longer.  We figured we could stay longer and not get a sun burn.  As it turned out the sun came out hotter than ever and cut our beach time short.
On the way back home and another Walmart stop.  Is it possible to be near a Walmart without having to stop and buy something?  After getting back to the motorhome we showered and just had sandwiches.  The rest of the evening was relaxing reading and watching television.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Its a zoo

Yesterday Sherry and I went to the Gulf Breeze Zoo.  This is a small zoo but is set up nice with a lot of free running animals. The animals that do a lot of running out in the wild have the space to do it here.  So come along and lets see a few of the animals.
First we have to go through the entrance door to get our tickets.
First things we saw were the Black Swans.
A zoo in Florida has to have Flamingo.
Sherry had to pet this cute baby goat.
A baby giraffe with momma looking on.
Scarlet Ibis.  This is the first Scarlet Ibis I have seen.
Zebra's
Here's the king ladies and gentlemen. Man these animals are large.
I hope you enjoyed the short trip through the zoo.  It took us around two hours including the 15 minute train ride.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Laundry day

Yes it was to the Laundromat yesterday.  That always takes up most of the day so we don't have much time to do anything else. As we usually do when we do the laundry is eat out or most of the time is buy a pizza and take it back home to eat. Yesterday it was pizza and I mean pizza.
Now doesn't that look good?  No not me I mean the pizza.  I've been seeing this one on tv so much I had to have one.  So I guess the advertising did what it was suppose to do.  This is the one that is almost two feet long(actually 20 inches)with Bar-b-que, Marinara, Ranch and Sriracha sauce.
With cheese and pepperoni on the pizza dipping it into the different sauces made for a good meal.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Another beach day

Yes it was another beach day for us yesterday. We say we went to Navarre Beach, but we actually go to the National Seashore which is around six miles west of Navarre Beach.
It is not as crowded and we don't have to walk as far from the car to the water.
Here is where we go.
Here is Navarre Beach with the pier in the background. There is a sign that says this is the longest pier on the gulf. It was built after the hurricane took out the old pier.
The wave with a lot of white caps due to the rain storm in the west.
We were able to stay a little longer yesterday because there was some cloud cover and not as much sun. Just another lazy day at the beach.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Nancy's Birthday

Yesterday was Nancy's day with it being Mothers Day and her birthday. She didn't feel good enough to get out Saturday so it was a stay at home day for her. As I had on the blog Sherry and I did go over to the Flea Market.  Nancy said that she felt good enough to go out yesterday.
We all like Mexican food so it was off to Rio Bravo for Nancy's double celebration day.  The service was good and the food better. Sherry says it was the best Mexican food she has eaten. Nancy and I were trying to decide what to have and the waitress suggested the special for the day which was a two for one price fajitas. We got it half chicken and steak, yummy.  We didn't get dessert because Sherry and I bought a small Birthday cake for Nancy. When we got back home we had the cake and that reall topped off a get meal with a good tasting cake.  Avery good day.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Happy Mothers Day

First and most important-Happy Mothers Day to all you ladies for all that you do to raise a family and put up with us guys. It does take a strong woman to do what you do.
This is our site which is out to the side of the Flea Market.  There are only seven sites here at the small campground.
The campground is only seventy yards or so from the Flea Market is were Sherry and I kind of loafed away the day yesterday. I bought a few vegetable and some fresh honey for Nancy.  This flea market has more of the locals with the used things rather than new items like the USA Flea Market in New Port Richey.  This one does have three of the Made in China vendors as all the other flea markets I have been to.  One did have a lot of items that looked like a junk yard.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Beach day

The area behind the Flea Market where we are is large and they have a bunch of rv's and boats in storage.
Yesterday was beach day for us.  Here are Sherry and Nancy heading out to get a spot near the water where we can lay out for a while.
A couple of choppers going over.  There area planes and choppers always going over because of the bases around here and the Naval base in Pensacola.
Of course a boat every now and then.
The small crabs that pop out of the sand, then with the slightest move that we made they would be back in the sand.
The birds strolling the beach for a meal. I don't think they want to tackle the larger crabs.
We only stayed a little more than an hour because it was our first time out and the sun was very hot.
We had a good relaxing time at the beach.
On the way back I stopped in to the Walmart to buy meats and sub buns to make us sub sandwiches. The subs turned out to be really good and tasty.
We had a good day as a beach day always is.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Motorhome work

Just was hanging around the motorhome yesterday.  I had some things to take care of.  When I hooked up to the water faucet the other day no water was coming thru so we just using water out of the tank. Checking out to see what  the problem was I discovered the inlet check valve had gone bad so that was a trip  to Camping World to buy a new one that I installed. I also didn't like the shower head that we had so I got a new one. Nancy and Sherry said the new one was very hard to turn off so I will be on the lookout for another one.  So that was my day, Nancy did the supper for us with a good pinto beans, fried taters, kraut and sausage. I think we all ate to much.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

Navarre Beach

We went to the beachside to have a look yesterday.

No that's not snow, its the sugar white sand that is in this part of the panhandle.

Also the blue waters of the gulf turn to a beautiful emerald color.
People were out enjoying the cool water and the hot sunshine.
Even this little one was having fun running in the sand. I sure hope she didn't get a sun burn.
This is the first brick beach house that I have seen.
After the sightseeing trip it was time for dinner. Sherry said the Rib Shack in Navarre had had 4 1/2 stars on yelp so that is where we went. I can see the good rating of this place, good service good food and a big serving of everything at a good price.
We went to Walmart then headed home.
A very nice day.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

On the road again

Yes, we did get on the road again Monday around 12:15. I thought we would never get loaded up and we would not have if Sherry wasn't there to help us.  I drove up route 19 and then on route 98 around to the panhandle.

This is a nice route with a lot of gulf water views along the way.  It has been some years back since we have been this way and we wanted to see how much change there has been.
I drove all the way to Apalachiocola and to a spot under the big bridge that I have read about with free parking at the Battery Park and Marina.

We slept under the bridge.
Here we is our spot for the night with the water being less than a stones throw away

The Marina and boats that were moored here at the time. There were five house boat including one that was a two story. I've seen a bunch of house boats but this two story one was a first for me.
We woke up to this beautiful sunrise as we looked out the bedroom window.. This is a good quite place. I saw a park worker and told him I expected the police to make a round or two. He told me that nothing ever happens here so the police don't check it out.
Tuesday it was a short drive to Gulf Breeze.
This is where we will be for a few weeks. Yes it is a Flea Market but they have a small campground which we have stay in passed years. Not your resort type of campground but it has full hookups with a much less cost than the others around the area and you know me free and cheap.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.
