Average Day

We got back to the beach yesterday after a few days of not going.   It is more crowded this year then last year, maybe due to the oil spill that is in the gulf coast, maybe the price of fuel cost. Camping World called that the water vavle for the commode is in so we will go to pick it up today.  We just had an average day for us. The Straight Talk phone is low on signal power, but I think its just the area we are in. I know a few years age we had no signal at all here in South Carolina.  The little plans we have today are to go to Camping World, then back to Ella's in Calash,North Carolina to have dinner. If we get there early enough we will get the "early bird special" and another side order of their onion rings "yummmy".

Commode Again

Sunday I noticed that the theftford commode was leaking water on the floor,so after looking to find the problem.  I saw it was the water vavle where the water comes in to flush it.  We went to the Camping World in Myrtle Beach to see if they had one in stock.  No such luck,so I had one ordered which will be in friday.  I had some plumbing parts handy and rigged up a hand fluch for now so not much of a problem.  When you use your recreational vehicle you have to expect to have problems come up from time to time.
As always we have no plans for today.

Beach Buggy

Didn't do much yesterday. I did run down to Walmart for somethings, saw this 1977 VW that they were giving away. So I put my name in the drawing.  When I register for things like this I forget about them because I don't know if I've ever had my name drawn.  We never go to the beach on the week-ends so it was just catching up on some project to do around the motorhome.  The Verizon USB 760 for internet conection is still doing just fine.  I don't think I will come close to the 5 GB a month limit.  I'm anxious though to see how it will do in other parts of the country as we travel.

Buffet Dinner

Yesterday we ate out in Shalotte at the A Southern Bite. It was a nice buffet with a little of everything. Like fried chicken, chicken livers, cat fish and hush puppies and a lot more. From there it was to Walmart, then back home.  Yes its still guite hot here, but next week the temperature is suppose to be back to normal in the middle to high 80's.

Walk in the Mall

Couple of nice rides we saw parked yesterday on our way to the mall.  Its been so hot that we decided to walk in the mall.  We were afraid that we might be getting a little to much sun,so no beach yesterday.  After walking in the mall we came back home and watched tv and did some computering.

Wide Beach

I don't know what these flowery bushes are but they are plentiful along the roads here in South Carolina.

It was for sure yesterday when we went to the beach that everyone had plenty of room. The tide was out about as far as it could be and it was about 100 yards between the dunes and the water.  The temp was 93° with a heat index at 107°.   Needless to say we didn't hang out very long,a couple of hours was enough for us.  The rest of the evening was spent inside under the airconditioner relaxing.

Laundry and Dinner

Well we,or should I say Nancy did the laundry yesterday.  After coming back home we went to the Verizon store again down in Myrtle Beach to get a few issues settled.
We went to Calabash to have dinner at Ella's.  This was our first time eating here, but it won't be our last. They have good food with a very good price and speedy service.

New Toy?

Not a whole lot happened over the week-end.  I watched the US Open Golf and that took up most of my time.
The new toy?  Well its not exactly a toy,I went down to the Verizon Store yesterday and bought a USB Modem so now maybe when we travel I can be more up on getting my blog.  For the last eight years I have been getting online with our cell phone.  While that was real slow I was still able to do it without additional cost.  So we switched from Verizon to Straightalk pay as you go-no contract. Somehow this has a connection with Walmart, because this is the only place you can buy it. We get twice the minutes with text and mobile web, at a half of what we were paying.  The coverage is just as good since straight-talk use the verizon towers.
Today we are going to the laundromat to do the much overdue laundry.

Beach weather is nice.

Wednesday evening we went out to Captain Nance's for dinner.  This restaurant is located on the little river along with the shrimp boats which are moored here.  There is also a fleet of sight seeing and fishing charter of ships.
One of the shrimp boats going through the draw bridge, which is actually a swing around bridge that swings to the side.
The shrimp boat out in the atlantic netting for shrimp.
The largest crowd that we have seen thus far since we have been here.  It was another sunny 90+ day today.

Back to Beach

We went back to the beach yesterday, the weather wasn't as hot as it was the day before, although it was still very warm at 91°.
The people on this speed boat were enjoying a trip up the coast. A trip to the beach and you always see something different.
The ocean was beautiful again with the waves and their white caps.  We will no doubt try to get to the beach each day.

Beach

Yesterday we thought we would go out to the beach and lay around for a while.  It was nice and sunny with the beach crowd being rather large.  We did walk along in the water but had to come back home because Nancy was beganing to get sick from the heat and rightfully so. The tempwas 97 with it feeling like 107 according to the weather report.
The new bridge is coming along very well. It looks like it may be ready sometime this fall. This will replace the out dated one lane draw bridge.

Sunset Beach,North Carolina

After traveling for 2 days we arrived in Sunset Beach yesterday.  I got off I-16 and took alt-17 north in Savannah,Ga. Here is a bridge we went over that gave us a spectacular view.
I like these 2 lane roads they are so much nicer and you can see many different little towns that you never see driving on the interstate highways.  Here is a beautiful tree lined drive on us 17.
I went through the business route in Myrtle Beach. They have about as many mini golf courses as they do the big golf courses.  Sunset Beach is only 10-12 miles north of Myrtle Beach. It is a short distance on the North Carolina side.
Nancy and I are going to take it easy for a while.  We have covered around 2200 miles in the car and motorhome in the last week and that is too many miles for us.

Back in Georgia

Here are the bride (grand-daughter Amanda) and groom (Brian Barnes). The wedding was just beautiful as could be.  Everyone was just as excited as Amanda. Grand Pa and Grand Ma are wore out from the trip,we are not used to riding that far in a short time. But she wanted us there and we try not to dissapoint our children. We will rest up a short time and then take off in the motorhome. I  can't thank my brother enough for letting us leave the motorhome in his yard while we made this trip in the car.

Clarksburg,West Virginia

We left Sevierville,Tennessee friday morning.  After a long pleasent but tiresome day and 300 + miles we arrived in Clarksburg ready to get some rest.  We are staying with Amanda (the one that is getting married.  She doesn't have much room,so we are sleeping on an air mattress. It sleeps pretty good but let me tell you one thing. It is very hard to get up out of bed when you are used to rolling out of bed. We have had a very nice time visiting our two grand daughters and the great grand children.
Today at 4:00 pm will be the wedding of Brain and Amanda.  Amanda is very nervous and Brain is so quite it is hard to tell about him.

Good Trip

We made it from Warner Robins,Ga to Sevierville,Tn in good time.  A lot faster then I do when driving the motorhome. Of course when we are in the motorhome I usually drive 55mph compared to 70 mph in the car.  I like the gas mileage that the car has over the motorhome.  The car got the best for mile per gallon then it ever has. I average 39.2 mile per gallon compared to 7--8 miles per gallon with the motorhome.  This morning we will continue to West Union,WV to attend the wedding of our grand daughter (Amanda) on Sunday evening.

On the road

We made it up to Warner Robins saturday evening, for a short visit with my brother (Nick) and his wife (Joann).  As usual we have been over eating the last few days.  We will be leaving out this morning in the car heading up to Sevierville,Tennessee to stay the night with our son (Joe) and Cherisa, his wife.  We are leaving the motorhome here in Warner Robins because we would have to back track, causing a lot of miles with the motorhome. At 7-8 miles a gallon with the motorhome verses the car at 30 miles to the gallon it just makes it more economical to do this.
