Civil War Reenactment

Yesterday was a nice day and we did something different. We went to J B Starkey Park and saw our first Civil War Reenactment. This was the battle of the Anclote River Raid. We have been wanting to see one of these for years.

They had their different camps set up with all the things of that time period. This weekend not only did the act out the war but live it as though they were back in the 1800's
We enjoyed seeing the chairs and all the old stuff from the days back then.

The actors and their families had the fire going with their meal cooking.

Heres an old buckboard from back in that time.

Even had an old covered wagon. I call this one of the fulltiming rigs.

The ladies had on the long dresses, bonnets and their parasols for shade from the sun.

Then it was time for the battle between the Conferate and the Union soldier. The Cnferate was coming thru the woods .

They met the advance troop of the Union and the battle was on.

The cannon on the hill fires on the Union Soldiers.

The riders on horseback come on the scene. I watched the horses thinking that the loud cannon firing would "spook"them but they acted like they didn't here the noise which was very loud. I guess maybe they are use to it. The battle lasted longer than I thought it would. It was a hot but very interesting afternoon.
